I'm running Hboot 1.0.1.000 , I've been trying to root my Legend for like 6 hours now, I managed to make GoldCard and downgrade OS to 2.1
I try to flash it , after running step 1, it gives me error (Too many lines)
I patched it back to 2.2 untill I find solution to this..
Anyone can help?

i have tytn with spl 1.04,rom 1.18 and radio pof's 1.16 ,supercid
tried to upgrade main rom a few times with different roms
the process completes successfully but afterwards the tytn just stays on the htc logo and doesn't boot up windows
the only way i can bring it back is by flashing to htc 1.18 rom through bootloader
any ideas what's wrong?

You can also try flashing from SD card, see the wiki.

yup! that was my fear... the new ROM fails to boot because you got bad blocks in NAND flash. Luckily it only affects the ExtROM.

Unfortunately we don't know a method to fix bad blocks yet, you can start researching yourself. AFAIK the ExtROM is FAT16 (someone correct me if i'm wrong)... so try to find a formatting tool for that.
If you want to upgrade the ROM, I suggest you to flash 1.01-MFG bootloader and flash only OS.nb using 'lnb' command. It's explained in the wiki.

if it wont extract try changing the file type to .rar but try it the way it is first

I had 2,17 and upgraded to the leak rom 3.16. I did not use any locker or unlocker when upgrading. I am having issues with mail2web that it sends the same sent email several times. I think there is an active sync bug with the leaked rom. Anyways, I am trying to downgrade back to the official 2.17 and I when try to flash after the intial reboot it tell me error 328 invaild command
can anyone please help??
I also think I want to downgrade for the time being.
Where can I find the latest stock Radio and ROM for Verizon?

Run the unlocker posted above, after it's all said and done, you should be at the bootloader screen, just run the update for the 2.17 ROM and it should put it back on. I was having the same problem (328 error) and this fixed it for me.

FYI the new radio doesnt work well with the old OS.

i have been attempting to sim unlock my dual for some time now using the instruction on the SuperCID sticky.
I can install custom rom's fine normally but when i attempt to use the special patched radio rom needed for unlocking it always stops at 95% and then i get a communication error.
I was trying this in vista with the drivers patch from Modaco but i have also tried this with XP sp3 and get the same problem.
is there anyway to trouble shoot this to find out what is going wrong? i have ever tried installing the radio rom from the SD card but that doesnt work

i get the same proplem also. I can flash any rom, and other radios....just not the patched radio for superCID.
Try to flash this radio first. Then try the super CID process again.

1.58 radio does the job. anyone else who gets this problem rememeber to 'downgrade' your radio to an earlier version and everything should go well. Also dont bother trying to use vista, it has lots of problems with this procedure.
i bought my phone unlocked from the 3 mobile network UK. i
it had build 2.73.771.62 CL#80033 release-keys
first question, can i root this as is? many guides say to downgrade but none of the ruus seem to be compatible. cid errors.
second, which ruus can i downgrade to anyway? it has to be an original 3 mobile rom right?
third, which was the first available 3 mobile build.
last, im i screwed wrt rooting?

adb devices lists my hero, however, fastboot doesnt. this means it cant be rooted as is right?
does the CID error mean i didnt do the goldcard method correctly? i was worried when i had a letter in my cid generation after cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid
H3G released their first Rom this week. Prior to this were pre installed.

im more comfortable doing the goldcard method.
using goldcard, is it ok to have a letter in the cid? cos i have one and fear thats the reason mine isnt working. we're working with hex so alphabets are ok, ignore.
also, which ruu do you recommend i use to downgrade.

Yes if you are following second option. But ignore what I stated. Personally I am more comfortable with non goldcard therory simply because you could be near complition and getting frustrated only to find that your cd card is at fault.
There have been several cases of sd card let down.
mine seems to be letting me down too. ive used the stock and some other samsung card. cid errors still. btw, what allocation size im i to use to format? or is formatting with the phone ok.
ended up trying flashrec .. backup failed.
installing the patched recovery image didnt work either, new hboot.

which is because of the build im running on, so my only option is installing a previous build to get the old hboot
but 3 mobiles earliest build is 2.73.771.62 ... which is what im using

i was randomly looking at my friends 5800, asked for his 8gb card, plugged in, goldcarded and downgrade worked!!! w00t. but this was a week ago; needless to say, my phone is not a virgin anymore ... alot of rape

I know the thread is old but I would just like to add the Hero on 3 can now be rooted using Androot, which allows you to avoid the goldcard method. Was able to root, flash a recovery image, backup and put a new rom on with minimal fuss
SOLVED IT!
I suppose this is what happens when you're not too familiar with what you're doing. It was a goldcard issue. I realized that the initial tutorial that I was following made me reverse the CID in a wrong way - and that was why I could not downgrade using RUUs non-specific to vodafone.
Did it now though! I hope this is useful for others having similar problems!

First of all, I am definitely a newbie so excuse me in advance for possibly missing an obvious link.
I'm trying to downgrade my htc legend from 2.1 to 1.3 so that i can eventually root it and put cyanogenmod on it.
while using the RUU, i run into Error 131 saying that I should use the correct RUU. I have searched and searched and seen that people wrote that this is a goldcard issue. I have tried doing the same thing with another card which is definitely a successful goldcard because it has been used for this same purpose before.
I notice that this might be because it's a vodafone phone (in UK). The phone itself is unlocked. Could vodafone have something to do with it and if yes, is there a way to bypass that?
Can someone please please help me get past this error? Before then I get the 171 error but if I just exit the RUU and unplug and plug back my phone, it works fine.

Nice you fixed it! I think you mean downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1 no? G1 had Android 1.0 then 1.5,all other devices have ahad 1.5 or above
I'm basically just doing what the tutorials I've been following have told me. I'm pretty sure I have to downgrade to 1.31. I thought I had solved it but I was just not paying attention and I had downloaded 1.32 instead so I couldn't root the phone.
