Is there an app that support sip for audio or video calling? I know it supports skype but I'm not a fan of that. I'm wondering if there is an app in the market and don't have this device yet.

I've been thinking about this as well. I will let you know if I find anything.

hey, did you find any ?
I haven't seen any hints that anyone is developing anything for WebOS.
Probably going to have to just wait for Android. I have used SipDroid and Google Voice callback to make calls on my G-Tablet and would love to do the same with the TP.

Has anyone come up with a way to use Skype for Android to be able to place video chat calls? The fact that the Archos 101 has a front facing camera really makes me wish this would work. But the Skype available in the Google Market does not support video chat.
I've heard that the HTC Thunderbold and the new Moto BIONIC will both have Skype Video integrated.
Are we basically waiting on another android device to have that functionality so we can reverse engineer it onto our devices? Or is there another way around this limitation?
Skype is still working on getting video calling to Android. They just purchased Qik too, which should help!

It seems they "sold" the first working video version of skype to Motorola, so once the xoom is out, there'll be Skype AKPs floating around... with the hope that it doesn't heavily rely on Honeycomb.
I think Verizon gets first dibs on Skype video chat. Then probably after a year it will be open to all devices.
Moved to general as not andorid development
I have been using Tango. It works great.
http://tango.me/
well "Skype with Video" was just released for the Thunderbolt only ... waiting on a fine XDA member to crack it for the rest of the mass (xoom please!)
link can be found @ Androidandme ....won't post it here
A video link was posted in one of the threads here, in which the presenter said that the SGSII "supports" Skype.
Was that a dumb person's way of saying it has a fraont facing camera? Or has anyone actually ready anything specific about the SGSII coming preloaded with Skype?
Just wondering...
I hope it has video enabled Skype preloaded... but probably it won't have.
Most probably the woman in the video had no technical skills at all and just said that because it has a front facing camera... we'll see.
In either case, Skype is available via the market place, does it not support front facing camera?
I don't own a Android device as of yet so do not know. Can anyone confirm?

Skype is available in the Android Market, however there isn't a video-call support for Skype as of now, on Android.
There are a few videos/articles floating about that there's a version of Skype designed specifically for the HTC Thunderbolt that supports video calling over 3G/4G.
Perhaps that's what the person would be referring to? That the particular version of Skype for video calling could also come with the S II. Anyway this part's just my speculation.
Thats BS, I use Skype on the iPhone to do a low of video calling with my clients, it would suck if I cannot do that any longer.
What a turn off.
Going to bump this, anyone tried installing skype on the new S2 to see if video works?
someone from my local forum said that Fring has video support for sgs2
I have skype installed. It doesn't appear to have a video call option.

I can confirm that, no video support in Skype it seems.
just audio calls on skype, no video option maybe soon in update?
Skype's days are numbered one way or the other ... or do you really think Microsoft is going to offer a competitive Android client? (Would be a first, that one.)
hi! i use a lot skype to work, and i was really surprised that Galaxy Tab 10.1 cannot download skype!
anyone could find a way to download it and make use of the dual camera function on their gtabs?
any apk?
thanks!
Works fine on mine although I haven't tried video yet, just audio.
there's no Skype for Android that supports the video chat just yet.

there is a cracked version that supports some HTC Thunderbolt roms/radios
i was able to download skype, audio support only, no video features yet but its ok, i can live with that
Bump. Any update on this? Has anyone been able to provide a cracked version of Skype speficially for the Tab?
So are there any uses for the front facing camera at this time?
Hard to believe that Skype has not yet come out with a video version for Android!
Skype with video does work with select android devices. I had it working with my old 7 inch Galaxy Tab but not with the new one. No one has been able to get it to work in Honeycomb yet.

He's right. I have Skype with videochat working on my Samsung Epic, doesn't work for my 10.1 though.
I desperately wish Skype (or something) would work. My GF lives in the Philippines and it'd be great to be able to walk around the house and whatnot video chatting from the GTab.
Use the google talk app. That has decent video chat capabilities.
Google talk has video support.

There is a modded version of the video skype apk for "other" devices around these forums somewhere. (search it). BUt it requires neon/vfp or somesuch not supported by the tegra2 cpu.
Skype and tegra2
check this youtube video, sorry i am new and doesn't allow me to post the link,
go to youtube and type in the search bar, skype for Tegra 2.
You will see a nvidia tablet running honeycomb 3.0 running a video conference, no idea where to get that apk, but obviously is around.
if somebody find it please pass around and send me a message
any news on this? I don't like google talk.
I tried the Skype on my galaxy tab 10.1 ...no video...
I am from Singapore, and my Atrix cannot video call.
What about sets from other part of the world ?
Not through my carrier, but if I use Fring or Tango then I'm able to video call.

I'm in the u.s.. tango, fring, and Qik all work video calling on my Atrix. Qik has a specific version just for the Atrix that works pretty well. All those apps are free. I'm also on at&t by the way also. supposedly yahoo video chat works also but haven't tested that one yet. The first 3, I know works, and pretty well at that.
+1 for Tango.
Tango is the best one out there imho.
Those are all great for phone-to-phone, but unfortunately only Yahoo Messenger works for phone-to-computer chat. I personally dislike Yahoo, but they have a monopoly on this crucial function for the time being.

i use yahoo since everyone else i talk to doesn't have video calling on their phone. it's ok but the others mentioned earlier might be better for calling from phone to phone.
Try the new skype version

it's not a videocall - it's app-to-app call with videofunctionality, but the author asked exactly about videocall - it's a 3g operator function. I wish atrix had it, likeall normal devices.
But as far as i know - there is no such function at all for android
video call on Atrix

Hi folks,
Can anyone who has loaded up the leaked ICS tell me if the native dialer included video calling?
I'm not asking about Google talk or any other third party video call, just the native dialer
Thanks
SD
i also want native video calling...
miss my old stupid nokia and sony ericsson that have native video call
Nope, I believe Android doesn't have support for 3G calling at all.

It is not about Android I think. Samsung phones have in built video calling over WCDMA network as I have heard.
It is just about writing the code. Native Android(Vanilla) does not have it.. it has to be developed which many manufacturers have skipped.
One of the few reasons why I'm still using my N8 as a primary phone.
Exactly, Dey,
I've come from a Samsung Galaxy S, which included the video call in the native dialer, and miss the option.
That and the telco include the native video calls in their billing, but any 3rd party would then be charged as data...
