Hi
Has anyone found a waterproof case that will work with the Viewpad 7. I'm looking for something that will allow the tablet to be used while it is inside the case. There are many such cases for regular cell phones, iphones and even for the ipad, but I haven't seen anything for 7 inch tablets.
If it were possible to have the charging cord connected , that would make it perfect. I want to use the Viewpad on my boat with the Navionics app without drowning it...

With all the looking for cases and such, a lot of talk about this case for 'X' will fit or not fit. Does anyone know of an more popular brand that has the same dimensions as G-tab? It might make finding access. easier. I know the Kindle DX is close.

It is known that cases/covers for the DX will fit the G-Tablet, just don't get the ones that have the strip up one side that obscures some control.
The Malata Z-tablet is the (near) identical twin, but accessories for them are just as hard to find. There are also a handful of Chinese "custom" cases that are being sold (but stay in fairly short supply) just search this forum and you will find them.
I've seen a few Kindle DX posts that like it, but there seems some contention on how well it fits. I don't think I found one that fits that also has the stand. Yeah, the Malata case are a rare bird, and seem a bit more expensive. i will check for the custom ones...Thanks..
I think most 10 inch netbook cases should work. I bought the "HP - Mini Netbook Sleeve" from Best Buy, and it fits OK, not quite glove tight but good enough.
Try a new Targus iPad case?
I tried 10" netbook sleeves and they all seemed too roomy (not snug). I ended up getting a newly released (in Taiwan) Targus iPad soft case. A little snug but fits.

Never saw one, also looking for one for ages.
I am thinking about making my own, by neatly wrapping the viewpad 7 in Saran Wrap (plastic cling wrap) and then coating it or "dipping" it in something called "plasti dip" found in Home depot, Lowes, etc.... Just need some time to experiment with it...
hi i have some case for the viewpad7 I can give you th link later

Continuing the quest to search for a silicone case and/or screen protector - no luck yet, but -
just came across 2 new eBay listings for Viewpad 7 only (not for the 7e, 7x, etc.) - prices are in U.S. dollars:
This is $9.75 with free shipping within US - looks good & has openings for the rear & front camera, very similar to the stock one - maybe just a tiny bit smaller in overall size, good for slipping into a jacket or daypack, etc.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ViewSonic-V...?pt=US_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item1c2231f2ff
This is pricey at $32.99 + $3.99 for shipping - looks nice, real leather, custom openings & slots, kind of "designer" verison - not sure if anyone wanted to spend that much.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cover-Up-Vi...er_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item27c1d094d1
My stock one is showing some normal wears & tears, playing too much Angry Birds & Mahjong on it lately, but fortunately, the multi-touch screen is holding up nicely as it's well protected when not in use - not a scratch on it, yet.
If anyone plan to get one soon, please post feedback & share - thanks & Happy New Year !
Too bad there are neither soft silicone or hard bumper cases available anywhere for the Viewpad 7, as far as I know (local Viewsonic salespeople didn't know of any either) . The original heavy "book covers" are just too thick to be practical for daily use at the office. I'm a fan of the 7" size, it's almost identical with the larger Moleskine notebooks I favor, and the awful covers just make using the VP7 unbearable.
Being just as slippery as one other Foxconn smartphone with a fruit and a number "4" on it, the VP7 really needs something to prevent it slipping from your grip.
I recently dropped one Viewpad on a tile floor. The screen was neatly cracked from one corner and after having the glass replaced, I would hate to go through the trouble (and the cost) again...
Any help finding a suitable protector would really be appreciated. I'll let you know, too, if I happen to find out something.
I've seen the cases for the iPad that also have small slot for a portable hotspot device. Has anyone seen something similar for the Tab 2 7.0, or even a generic 7" case that might fit the Tab?
And just for clarification, I'm not talking about cases with "anything" pockets, but the ones with the clear pockets so you can still see MiFi status and stuff. And one that the tablet stays in and opens like a book.
A pocket for a 7" tablet would be huge. To be honest, i havent seen one yet. For now, i bluetooth tether my phone, and leave it in my pocket. Uses way less battey than wifi.
I was looking for. A similar setup when i was using my playbook.

Anyone got any leads on a keyboard folio / case for the tablet? I think it would be the icing on the cake for me. I'm looking to get the LTE version and replace my qwerty phone which I use 95% of the time as a pocket computer rather than phone anyways.
eBay and Amazon don't have anything yet from what I can see.

The only worthwhile thing you're likely to find for quite some time is this. And it's quite pricey as well. Sadly.

I'm honestly not concerned with the price of that item. I understand I'm in a niche realm, and am willing to pay for the features I want. Thank you for the recommendation, I've got it bookmarked for whenever the LTE version hits the stores.
If you do not mind a stand alone keyboard, you could always get something like this

Thank you for the suggestion, but I was thinking more along the lines of the previous recommendation. I'm sure alot of people don't understand, but I'm very attached to my qwerty slider phones, and am looking for a modern solution to this. For the life of me, I can't understand why in a geek driven market, more people aren't using their smart phones or tablets in IT and Engineering roles for quick code changes, responding to on-call support tickets without having to tote around a full laptop and wait to boot up, etc.. The clothing I wear has large enough cargo pockets for an 8" tablet, so if I could get one that fits with a keyboard, I'd have my next device.
Thanks
Shield tablet wireless keyboard folio-case - another option
Yeah I use mobile like that too - for everything, including gaming.
So I found a wireless KEYBOARD FOLIO CASE reviewed by someone else today and haven't tried it yet but here's the info on it (I am cross posting this data on the keyboard-case threads for this Shield tablet, on xda here, in case people find it useful):
- I came across another wireless case option (by ZAGG, it's pricey but looks very good) from a youtube post about case options for the nVidia Shield Tablet, see:
Cannot post a url here, however here's the info to be sure it's the same video I'm referring to:
v=Obs3tK8onYQ
posted title is "Nvidia Shield tablet case options"
date posted was oct 16 2014
the poster id is wr3ckn89
- I only just saw it today & cannot report my experience yet; The zagg website can show you the local retailers that carry their stuff. Only see 1 seller so far on amazon, with ridiculous wait time, and another with a 2nd 8" model specified for samsung... The zagg site does not yet list nVidia Shields, but they have an 800 number. After looking at the website, I called Zagg customer support & talked to a real person who knew the product.
- Specific model: There is only one model that fits the new nVidia Shield tablet 8", with suitable cutouts etc. - it is the "AUTOFIT" for 8". The other model for 8" tablets won't be right.
- You can find it at retailers, but you can get a 10% discount by calling them to order directly
- It ain't cheap, but it has a 1 year warranty and tech support.
- The keyboard is not backlit (they only have one model of their wireless keyboard cases that does have a backlit keyboard at this time) - BUT they are working on backlit keyboards for their other models including the AutoFit, yay.
Zagg Autofit 8"
So I went to best buy and picked up the Zagg Autofit 8" and it's such an exact fit you would think it were an aftermarket device specifically for the shield. Pairs up nice, and does what you would expect from a bluetooth keyboard. As noted in the video review that was linked above, the stylus is not accessible, and for the most part, neither is the power button. I'll probably be using a file to shave a small amount of the case down so I can access both items.
Just to be clear, the stylus is in no way accessible without detaching the tablet partially. The power button, for my sized hands, is not accessible. Unfortunately, I did not have the luck of the video reviewer in being able to use it with fingertips. Must be these giant paws of mine.
I've also paired it up with the Razor Orochi, and can now play MMO's remotely using my tablet. Looks great, full features. etc.. :victory:
maybe the Belkin keyboard would be useful?
http://www.belkin.com/uk/F5L112-Belkin/p/P-F5L112/
however, it's a separate thing rather than converting the tablet into a mini laptop
my wife has one of these keyboard cover/cases with a slot so it becomes a stand
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TECHGEAR®-Bluetooth-Wireless-Keyboard-Samsung/dp/B00FRHKRO0/ref=sr_1_1
that one is specifically for the Samsung Galaxy Note, there are variants for other tablets such as Nexus 7 and others, but I couldn't find one for the Shield tablet
looking too
while looking for some nexus 9 accessories i came up with this
DETROIT IV KEYBOARD from portdesign dot com
maybe it could fit on a nvidia shield too ?
hope it helps
Sometimes those cheap ones from ebay work very well
I had gotten this little usb keyboard for (probably) $19 a few years ago for my Nexus 7, but it fits the Shield Tablet like a glove. Makes it a mini laptop. Has a sleep key and it just works perfectly with usb otg adapter! I'm delighted!
Hi
Has anyone come across a decent keyboard case or something similar that fits with the shield tablet, AND that has a touchpad /trackpad /trackball or similar control device built in??
NOTE. I know about the Zagg autofit 8 (but have to use a mouse next to it)
I've been using a logitech k410 , and though it's great, it's not always practical. Sometimes I really need a solution akin to the asus transformer series or something like the setup for the Microsoft surface tablets.
I travel a decent ammount and don't always have a flat surface that's big enough for both the tab and a keyboard
Any suggestions??
As mentioned it HAS to have a trackpad /trackball/ touchpad or similar ( even a lenovo/ ibm style nib would work)
cheers

Hey, did you settle on anyone? I need one also
I use this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Official-So...488020?hash=item54081ec894:g:2-MAAMXQyY1TVQnf it works great for typing (or coding in my case) it has a nub on it that gets the job done as a mouse its not a case but fits all most anyware
@ coleburns
no I never found anything that would really fit all the requirements. Seen a few ebay BT keyboard + case folios , but they seemed both flimsy and thick as well as the three I've seen thus far required a flater surface due to a" backstand function" ( think of Microsoft surface works"). Still looking and hoping
Pissed of to no end due to the whole range of aftermaket solutions for Samsung and Ipad's
@ solbg
Thanks for the suggestion, haven't thought of that one. The problem is as I wrote I travel a decent amount and don't always have a flat surface that's big enough for both the tab and a keyboard. For example trains or metro or busses and even certain plains. I need something that is closer to a "laptop" setup like the Lenovo yoga or asus transformer series..
Thanks though....
The Zagg autofit 8 is the one that I am most satisfied with. Check it out.... Annnnnnddd I finished reading your original post. Disregard.
I know Cooper makes a folio style case with a touchpad keyboard built in. They run about $40-50 on Amazon.
