[Q] Help: Samsung Galaxy Ace Gingerbread Update - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Hello everyone. This thread will be the conclusion for my posts here about upgrading my SG Ace android phone to Gingerbread. I'm on Android Froyo 2.2.1 (S5830DXKC1) now and planning to upgrade to Gingerbread 2.3.3 KPN. I already have the "one-package" file for this update from samfirmware site. I also have Odin, cooper and everything needed for the update. And also I already know how to flash.
Questions:
1. Which is more safe/suitable to use, upgrading using "one-package" file or using "full-package" file?
2. Some says, I must upgrade 2.3.3 using "full-package" first (like KPE) before I flash KPN using "one-package" file. Based on them, flashing "one-package" file with different platform (like 2.2.1 to 2.3.3) will be not successful. Is this true?? I need your confirmation.
Hope to clear this up on my mind. I'm really craving to update my phone. Thanks alot! hope to hear from you guys asap! Godbless!

Ya dude thats right but not neccesary to use first 2.3.3 full package first. You can use any fullpackage. I use 2.3.4 full packge first then flash one package 2.3.3 if you directly flash that then you phase bootlooping.

Just flash a custom rom that has 2.2 on it
No need to use Kies to upgrade.
You can either upgrade with ODIN (if you really really want the official KA6 release, read more about it, there are plenty of guides).
Or you can just install ROM Manager, flash Clockwork recovery and install a custom ROM right from 2.1. There are also guides on how to do this.

sHOULD I install KA6 OR KB1 ? and can i use AIO VIBRANT TOOLBOX ?
I think the toolbox is the easiest way for a noob to get started, especially with ODIN. Try reading the stickies at the top of the general, Q&A and development sections and all your questions will be answered.

[Q] is there any existing great ROM 4 2.2.1?

Well just want to know to know about dis..
Coz i still had not the kies updte in my country..
Jehe..thnx..
Devs Kip rockin us..haha
I doesn't matter whether Kies give you a new update or not, You just flash the newer version using Odin.
Practically, I'm from India and Kies didn't give me update for my Galaxy Ace more than 2.2.1 (Froyo).
But i myself am running BlackHawk (2.3 Gingerbread Based ROM) and had no problems off it till now.
Yes, you don't need to rely on Kies (in fact, with auto-sync with Google and other services, I don't need Kies at all).
Here in Brazil there's no update from Kies too, it's 2.2.1. Just flash a new Rom with Odin and you will be fine.
Thnx on replies..
Im kinda doubt flashing firmware..
Hehe..i had read them..and all has its advantages..
Which kinda conflict..
Btw thanks again..i thought there were dev 4 2.2.1

[Q] Quick question with flashing ROMs

So last night I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S2 and I’ve got a few questions regarding various things that I havn’t been able to find through searching around on the forums. If the answers are around the forums and I have missed them I apologize and hopefully you can direct me there.
1. Since I used chainfires rooting method. I’ve used Nitrality’s app to ‘backup’ my /efs and something else it backup up. Here I’m wondering if I use a custom rom such as “Lite'ning Rom v6.1 XXKH3” will the things I backed up with Nitrality app restore my original ROM and Kernel incase something hardware wise fails and I need to send it back in to claim on my warranty.
2. The second question im asking is regarding various Custom roms, if I choose to flash ;Lite’ning rom, will I be able to since it states it’s;
based on I9100XXKH3 firmware
baseband I9100XXKH3
The baseband I’m using is XWKE7, will I be able to use this rom?
3. since the version of android I have is 2.3.3 and majority of the Roms need 2.3.4 will it work correctly? If not and I have to legitly update to 2.3.4 will it successfully update since i've rooted my phone?
Hopefully you guys can help answer my questions. Thanks.
bump because I really need help :[
- Litening ROM is based on KH3 ROM, that doesn't mean you need to have a Stock KH3 ROM. So yes, you can install it.
- As I said it doesn't matter what ROM you currently have to flash a 2.3.4 ROM.
- Don't know about the Back up issue, sorry.

Help Requested: Gingerbread ODin Rom

I have a friend that has given me the samsung vibrant tmobile for upgrade.
i dont want to root the phone, but want to use odin to upgrade to the latest out there
can someone point to the best latest gingerbread or whatever rom that is flashble with odin
Thanks
I only know for sure about the JFD file. There have been postings about a leaked Gingerbread rom, often in the context of people bricking their phone with it.
Whichever is stable I will use Odin to flash. If not gingerbread than froyo will do. Which is latest stable.

There is no gingerbread update for vibrant. Use kies to flash froyo. But I highly recommend rooting your phone and flashing ics.
I did a little research, and you can find out about some stock roms by entering t959uv in a search and looking at the suggestions, such as ka7, kb5.
+1 on the ICS suggestion. Any stock rom will have Carrier IQ and who knows what else hidden in it.
