Hello! I have deleted the Stock/Touchwiz MMS.apk, and the MMS.odex, from the Samsung Vibrant's stock 2.2 ROM
Long story short! PLEASE PLEASE OH PLEASE someone get theirs and attach it! Please or else I will go insane!
It'll take two seconds,
all I need is the mms.apk and the mms.odex files from
/system/app
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!
You can always pull the files from the rom you downloaded with 7zip yourself. I have attached mms.apk, however i don't know what mms.odex is, i don't see it anywhere in system/app folder.
THANK YOU SO MUCH Alex, what rom are you running? Is it the STOCK Touchwiz 2.2 ROM directly from the update? If your rom is deodexed, then thats why it isn't in your /system/apps
If you are on a rom other than pure 100% stock, Possibly maybe oh maybe please go back to your stock ("odexed" or not "deodexed") rom and extract those files for me?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR RESPONDING, It means the world to me.
Is there any link to the STOCK rom with bloatware, odex files and everything? thanks!
If you do have them, post them for future use.
I went on youtube and searched "how to odin back to stock"
followed the steps, and im back to a fully stable vibrant
thanks !

Helllo everybody
Can anybody tell me (or a link?) how I can de-odex the rootedupdate.zip version 1.21.405.2?
Thank u
http://code.google.com/p/smali/wiki/DeodexInstructions
how space does de-odexing save? if that is one of its benefit
I tried it with the auto deodexer from this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=598026
The "De-odexing process" was successful. I de-odexed the /system/framework and the /system/app folder.
But if I replace the old /app and /framework with the de-odexed ones, my device doesn't startup.
Can anybody help me?
Flash the rom and then boot with logcat and search for the problem.

I'm having the same problem, do you solve it???
@ nickiberli : Download dsixda's kitchen and install it following his directions. It has all the tools you need to get started customizing ROMs. I believe your problem is that your .zip is not being signed which is another thing that his kitchen does for you.
@ ermacwins : Basically, (I'm not 100% on this explanation) "de-odexed" .apks are simply a .zip with a different extension. This allows further customization of the .apk. "odexed" .apks are split into two files, an ".apk" and an ."odex". The "odexed" .apk still contains the information that the "de-odexed" contains but is spread across the two files. To answer your question, I don't believe that a "de-odexed" rom saves you any more space than an "odexed" rom or vice versa.
@slavatore82 : Try the stuff I posted above. It should work for you. It's the method I've been using and it works great.

When you deodex your files try to set compression level less than default. Till to 0. After deodex first boot-up might take about 10-15 min.
Dont know if this is going to shine light to anyones perspective view, but it did too me.

I would suggest creating one of your liking from the UOT Kitchen.
I have the accurate stock blue battery mod, I even set it up in the kb5 framework but I can't find the original creator of the 200 images, I have a zip called bluestocktheme.zip that I believe came from xda and I am sure it came from one of the samsung phone threads, but I can't find the original post for it.
If someone can find the original post for the stock blue theme then at the very least I can find out who to give credit to and even ask permission to re-use the images...
otherwise the kitchen is the only other way, I'm not inclined to give other peoples work away without at least giving credit!
I tried UOT Kitchen but I can't get it to work on stock Deodexed KB5, when it comes to uploading the file it asks me to select a rom or theme from the kitchen's list, unfortunately Deodexed KB5 is not in the list, can anybody help.

No, that's not the thing you need to do
Use Root Explorer (seriously, use this app, it's the best and I did try them all) and go to
/system/framework
find the framework_res.apk file and copy it to the SD card
copy that file to your PC
now go to the UOT Kitchen, and BELOW the list of ROMs, there's a place to upload the framework_res.apk
then go through the rest of the process

I apologize sebmw I should have been more thorough, dikime: great explanation! As a side note for those that do not have Root Explorer (excellent app, by the way), you can also unzip the rom itself to dig down through the filesystem (system/framework/) and pull the framework-res.apk for upload.
u tried edt's stock kb5 rom? it has the sgs2 theme but stock kb5 otherwise

went to the UOT Kitchen and figured out how to cook my own battery flashable zip. worked like a charm!
Hi
Finally - first post after just reading the forum, and for good start it's kind of how to questions.
So, as mentioned in the topic I need to restore standard TW Launcher on my device, at the moment it is broken thanks to my noobish operations. I tried to replace TW with the modded TW4.5.
TW4.5 doesn't work on my gs2 and to install it I just deleted the stock one. I made a copy of standard apk, but nothing happend when I copy it back into system/app directory. It also won't to be installed.
Now I use GO Launcher and I'm happy with it but the thought that standard one doesn't work make feel strange.
Please help
I had the same issue last night but got TW4.5 working fine in the end. However i did end up going back to the original anyway (some widget bugs that i probably could have sorted but couldnt be bothered -.-').
The way i got my original TW back was as follows:
1) Put the original touchwiz30.apk file and the .odex file back into /system/app.
2) Delete the Touchwiz4.apk
3) Try install the old launcher only to be told "Application not installed".
4) Reboot the phone and it should let you use the normal launcher again, use Home Switcher if youve set the other as default.
Hope this helps

Thanks a lot mate, this is what I actually thought, cuz it's simple and the most logical at all, but I lost my mind with this mess, so can I ask you/anyone for a favor to upload/send on email both of these files, please?

edit:
Problem's solved, I made silly mistake - I didn't recognize that the root uninstaller app did add the '2.3.3' phrase between file name and file extension.
U helped a lot by posting the correct file name.
Thanks
Thanks for the question I have the same problem.
can u post ur stock files cuz i ****ed up and didnt take backup plz?
Srry for lag, havent seen it. I'll upload it tommorow from work or if u need it earlier I suggest to download a rom based on stock one and you will find it (there's stock tw in villain rom for sure).

Srry for breaking forum law
(Obviously one way is to read the thread that I got it from..)
But I'm just curious as to how I can tell while I'm on a random Rom.

In the system/app folder, if a ROM is odex, you will see that some apps will have a .apk and also a .odex while deodex ROMs will only have the .apk files.
Thanks Punjabi mundiya.
Appreciate it.

Should have clarified stock ICS for the P7510 but I gave it a shot anyways and it worked like a charm :good:
.:UPDATE:.
Actually the only adverse effect is that it adds menu items and a notification icon for a non-existent 3g antenna.
Based on that I had to uninstall this.
How do I install this
Hi,
I downloaded the framework-res.zip and extracted it which gave me a framework res apk. From what I understand, I have to copy that apk and paste it inside /system, but I did not understand the thing about the permission 644 thing, i tried to look for that but was unable to find it. If someone could guide me or give me more detail, I would be grateful.
Just for extra information, I have a P7500 (3G, UK, XEU), rooted and with CWM Recovery. It is on Stock Samsung Honeycomb 3.2 TouchWiz.
Thanks again in advance.
The CyanogenMod Team needs to add this animation.

Ah.. you didn't move the file into /system/framework ?
My English skill isn't good...sorry!
Which program did you use to make this?
I've been trying to recreate this but for the P7510 but APK Multi Tool doesn't want to recompile the apk.
I used the "Apk_Manager"

just compile apk, NO SYSTEM APK.
Open the unsignedframework-res.apk and framework-res.apk with 7-zip
unsigned's resources.arsc move to stock framework-res.apk
Don't install the unsignedframework-res.apk..
