why did you unroot?
EDIT: You don't need to unroot if you want to go back to stock...just use Odin

Information from s15274n
When you want to go back to stock, you can go the development section and find a stock JFD ODIN/zip, but I always just use the ALT METHOD below. It's always worked well for me personally.
This method will give you a stock Froyo + Root (no further action needed).
*** ALT METHOD ***
STOCK JK2 WITH ROOT ALREADY ENABLED
This method can be used to return to stock if needed. It can also be used for someone who is stock and wants to get root. If you are using this to gain root, please pay attention to the very last step about wiping
I prefer to use the method above to root, and this to return to a stock rom.
You can follow ipeench's thread (CLICK HERE). Be sure you download the right zip for the 2.2 leak (it is not obvious to me in the post). This is the thread used in the video (see video below):
UPDATE: When you download the files from the link above for JK2+root, there is an older version of ODIN included in that zip. I would NOT use that version of ODIN. Please download this updated version (it has never caused an install hangup on me like some older ODIN version can do):
ODIN 3 V1.7
Below are some videos I took last night. They are NOT the best, but hopefully it helps. One thing that may sound confusing is when I show how to use ODIN, at the end I state that I'm going to show how to root... well, this version already has root, so no further action is needed for obtaining root (thanks Eugene)!
This is a video of me going to the leaked JK2 via ODIN
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMSF-SumO3k
Here is another youtube video showing ODIN. It is flashing the JFD build (what the Vibrant originally shipped with):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnY7P14JSWQ
Here are the written steps you can follow if the video was not helpful:
I DID NOT INCLUDE THIS AT THE END OF THE VIDEO, BUT YOU MUST DO THE FOLLOWING:
Go into Recovery... Wipe user data & cache
then reboot
Now you can enjoy 2.2

odin is samsung's proprietary/internal software that can hard flash your device. odin may be used whether or not you have already rooted your device, and it will absolutely clear all your data in your internal sd card. to operate odin, you first need to obtain a rom flashable via odin (usually zipped in .tar file).
alternatively you can revert back to stock kernel/rom while you still have your device rooted. you can obtain a rom flashable via clockworkmod recovery (cwm), a bootloader software that can be installed on a rooted device, and just flash it. once you flashed your device back to stock rom, then you can unroot it so that your device is 100% back to stock.
all rom packages both odin flashable and cwm flashable have kernels, roms and modems in them.
look into sticky threads in this and development forums and you will be able to find detailed instructions on how to flash using either odin or cwm recovery. do some research and get yourself familiarized with the process. it's pretty simple as you've already flashed.
Go download ODIN and browse the forums for the files you will need. There is 512.pit file you will need and you need the JFD.tar file to enter into the PDA section of ODIN. Once ODIN is downloaded open, it's an exec. file. Once ODIN is open turn phone off. Plug USB cable that came with your phone into drive, hold down both Volume Down and Volume Up buttons and plug cable into phone. Display should say Download Mode in Yellow and have Android with a shovel. On your computer you should see in first box a Com Port open up either COM 3 or COM 4, doesn't matter. You should see some check boxes underneath the COM. Check the one for Repartition. Click the .PIT button and search for the 512.pit file you downloaded and click the PDA button and search for the JFD.tar file and click start. It will run through the process and when it's done you will be back to stock like you took the phone out of the box. Any questions and I can email you all the files and instructions.

I need help! Going from omfgb back to stock

I followed all the instructions in the Development forum. Odin'd Dl09 and the pit file and all I am getting is samsung stock recovery in manual mode. I've odin'd just dl09 and that doesn't help.
Just to be clear, you're following the directions on this thread, right?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124391
You should be using the DL09 and pit file in that thread, making sure to put them in the correct places (PDA and PIT, respectively) and checking repartition on the left hand side. Once ODIN has successfully flashed all of this, booting up the phone should give you Eclair as you would have bought it several months ago.
Try it again, carefully, and tell us what you get when you try to turn the phone on.

Yes, I Have followed those instructions exactly, and I am still getting stock recovery, I was able to flash CWM and flash ED01 from that but I was sent straight back to stock recovery. The volume rocker isn't being pressed so I have no idea why this isn't working
<EDIT>
I had two dl09 files on my desktop and was selecting the wrong one, odin'd the correct one and was fixed!
Thanks Ritchell!

[Q] Flashing ROM

Okay so Im trying to flash a rom, I have rooted it with super one click method. Im trying to flash a rom.
Usually in all the other phones that I have rooted and flashed sensation mt4g g2 g2x you root it then simply move on to CWM then you flash a recovery. It seems like the recovery isnt sticking..
I have looked for guides on how to flash. But a lot of them say there outdated.
Any ways if someone could give me a clue and point me in the right direction that would be lovely thanks!

you need to odin a stock modified kernal.tar in order to get cwm to stick. Here it is:
http://goo.gl/QCYxT
If you need odin and samsung drivers, there in my guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070
Remember to only put the file in the PDA function of odin...
Okay thanks very much this odin thing is very different from what I'm used to.
Am I going to extract these files? obviously not drivers, but Odin files I extracted. Am I going to extract the kernal.tar?
I'm trying to install Miui its 2.3.4 so im guessing that other guide is the right one can someone confirm that this is safe?

Someone Please Please help.
edit: your not following the directions clearly... The problem is you continued past step 4 without letting your phone boot up. If you dont follow directions to a T you will brick your phone.
Okay, listen carefully. Go to jt1134's CM7 thread in fascinate development section. Go to the first page, scroll down until you see CWM fixed for CM7, download it. Use Odin to flash full stock ED05 with atlas 2.2 pit file, check the box for repartition, then hit start. Boot up, then power down and take battery out. Flash the CWM fixed for cm7 in Odin, unplug from computer, put battery back in, then (this is important!) hold both volume buttons and the power button until you see Samsung logo, then release. You will then be in the right recovery to flash any MTD ROM. Wipe all three, flash ROM, reboot. Also go to stickies in fascinate development, read "Going from Vanilla GB to anything else" thread. It will give you more details and is properly updated. Good luck!

* How to get back to stock after flashing any rom, follow these steps:
Step 1: Download this stock ed05 rom package by pentafive to your pc. you will need to unzip with 7zip or winrar, http://api.viglink.com/api/click?fo...144787558901&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13175749481381
Step 2: power off phone and pull battery
Step 3: open odin on your computer
Step 4: plug in factory usb cable and hold the volume down button. Yellow
triangle should appear saying "download mode"
Step 5: click on PDA in odin and find the vzw_official ed05.tar file(rom) you downloaded to your computer in step 1
Step 6: click on PIT in Odin and select the atlas 2.2 pit, it's in the file you downloaded in step 1
Step 7: click start and wait 5min, box in left hand corner of odin will say PASS, then click reset.
Step 8: unplug usb cable, put battery back in and boot phone.
You are now back to stock ed05.(verizon's latest release for the Fascinate)

When you mean boot up, what do you mean like start it normally? The last guide said that and it wouldnt boot up.
Also Is this it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190668?
That Link you gave me when I click on it. I only get "Parameter 'out' is required." bad link?
you can go back to original link on my first post and get everything there lol, but being the nice guy I am I went ahead and fixed the link.
Alright. So I got followed your guide and got cwm installed. I made a nandroid. I wiped everthing and flashed MIUI It booted up and runs. So im on step 8 on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1212239
When I try and install a app it says insufficient storage on device.
Is this because I didnt install ec09-modem.tar.md5 and GBBootloaders.tar?
I know that im not going to need to install Gaps. But I want to make sure these things ^^ up there are the right things for my rom.
I went ahead and risked it haha. It worked. Okay so now.. It says that I dont have root. Would I be okay to use the superone click method again to root it?

power off and pull battery, get back to dl mode, open odin and install the eco9 modem and gb bootloaders. reboot and see if everything is working. If you still dont have root and you may not, follow what directions below.
- superoneclick wont work.
-push this file below to you sd card
- long press the power button and select recovery(do not three finger into recovery once your on a mtd rom)
- install zip from sd like you did the rom.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25089906/su-2.3.6.1.x.zip
-you should now have root
Okay Ill do that THANKS SOOOOO MUCH!!
Is Clock work going to stick? Do I need to install rom manager and flash the newest one?
I tried to go into CMW through long press home and click recovery. It says Multiple packages tries to request sytem root permission wich is disabled by default to ensure system security. If you need to enable it, please go to setting in super user.
Witch im not seeing anyting

The kernal is already modified to allow cwm to stick and you should already have the latest kernal with the version of miui that you flashed. Im not a fan of rom manager, but thats just my opinion. Fwiw the only other kernal I would mess with is the glitch kernal. That has to be installed via odin. go into the dev section and look up the glitch kernal thread and read up on it. But before you do any of that, just get the phone up and running for a day, then go from there.
Yeah haha I just need to get root so I can back up her stuff.
But its not letting me get into recovery because it says that I dont have root. How am i supposed to get into it?

If it won't let u get into cwm by long pressing power button then power phone off and try three finger into recovery(not suppose to do that with a mtd rom tho). Your only other option I know of is:
-odin back to stock
- boot up once then power off
-odin cwmall.tar from my guide
-three finger boot into recovery
-install root.zip from post 14
-reboot then power off
-odin cwm4
-three finger boot into recovery
-install miui.zip from sd
-reboot
-follow directions from step 8 on in the vanilla guide.

[Q] Odin successful. Still in boot loop.

I have tried v1.0 and v1.85 of Odin to fix my boot loop. Both said they were successful but in fact it just changed the boot loop's process. Now all that loops is black screen then the Vibrant screen (which I had never seen before). I also tried one click un-brick but the program will not stay open.
I can not enter recovery mode but can still enter DL mode.
This is all a result of trying to install the cyanogenmod using their wiki site (can't post links yet). I had completed installing Clockworkmod recovery as directed by the wiki site. It started when rebooting after installing Cmenard's Overstock Kernel.
Anyone who experienced this and was successful in fixing please do help.
Which file did you used when you used odin?
I used 2. The T959UVJFD.TAR and the 512.rar. I used winzip to extract them for Odin.
I did pretty much exactly what the link says. I tried checking repartition on the 4th try or so as well, sorry I can't post links yet....
http ://androidspin.com/2010/08/09/ how-to-restore-or-recover-your-samsung-vibrant/
Ummm usually reverting back to stock jfd through odin always works..
Many of us have been in bootloops before this one is different simply because CM7 is typically an easy flash. You may want to get different files they may not have downloaded to your computer correctly and then try to flash them using Odin. That's the only thing I can assume is the issue at this point.

yup, try a different file. You might want to try odin 1.3 too. Never failed for me.

Not really sure what other files to use. Every search I do for restoring to factory settings finds the ones I used. I will try them with odin 1.3 until I find new files.
Wondering if my samsung driver isn't installed properly. Will Odin even read it if it's not?
OK so, I screwed up. I have a sgs4g, DOH. Gona make a thread in the sgs4g section but help is still appreciated if anyone has some.
Exact same issue.
I had the same issue. Actually got it to boot and everything but everything past the Modem step was scrubbed everytime in Odin because the wrong partition was applied. You get this issue if you use the PIT from a Galaxy Vibrant on a Galaxy S 4G.
I was under the impression that the phone I was modding was a Vibrant. Took me a few hours but I eventually got to the bottom of it after reading every Vibrant thread from beginning to end. Here is a link to the post that saved my night.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12806682&postcount=15
The proper PIT file for the Galaxy S 4G. So everyone with this issue just continue as normal and install a current ROM with this PIT.
On a side note.... all these damn Galaxy phones are confusing. No wonder I never wanted one. I am just fine with Motorola devices... The Optimus series is at least a bit better with the letter branding for each carrier. Galaxy series are all just galaxy...

[Q] Bootloop while ODIN-ing back to stock

Sounds simple enough, I followed the outdated sticky thread in the Q&A section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028
in the hopes of getting passion on my replacement Vibrant.
I managed to find copies of odin 1.7 with the following files
s1_odin_20100512.pit
T959UVJFD.tar
and flashed my phone. Got green lights from odin, and my phone proceeded to start bootlooping. I can still get into download mode, so I can easily use different PIT/TAR files that you guys suggest.
I tried the AIO toolbox v2.5 using it's version of Odin and pit/tar files, so atm I'm waiting for your responses.
Any help is appreciated.
