[Q] [Phone shutdown] after updating to gingerbread - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi xda,
im having problems with my x10..
it shuts down [with shutdown animation] whenever i use my camera..
i can shoot maybe 5 to 7 picture then the animation of phone shutting down will occur..and i cant turn it on because whenever i turn it on the shutdown animation will show after the booting process.. my only solution is to remove the battery and after that it will boot normally
my problem started after updating to gingerbread..
i thought maybe i have a faulty rom so i decided to reflash with other roms but still the problem occur..
so i decided to do my last resort..by flashing again my old 2.2 roms but sadly the problems now occur too in the old 2.2 rom..
anyone can enlighten me?
also the shutdown problem 1st showed the time i use the new tun.ko kernel in gingerbread..
but using the phone normally like sms, call & anything aside from stated above, the phone is fine.

anyone?? help please

Copy data from sdcard and format it. Properly do a slow format. Then copy data back and see if the issue occurs. Or just try another sd to test.

my brothers x10 is having this issue except it just shuts down when the battery is 50% and lower. Anyone know?

I have the same problem
as the topic says, i have the same annoying problem

Hi,
What make you think the sd card is the culprit. I have not thought of this but it sounded valid.
When I was using the original sd card it never restarted, I then changed to a Kingston card and not for long after that I started to have the restarted issues.
Will swap back to original sd card to see.
Also I wonder if the sd card contribute anyting to the heat.

still problem persist

well now that you have mention it..that happens to me too..let me know if you find a fix..i wonder if the battery have something to do with it..also i notice sometimes there is a cracking sounds whenever the phone is turning on..
i wonder if it has something to do with the battery or worst, the motherboard itself...

one month with this!!
one month with this problem and it is really annyoing....

Sounds like a hardware issue to me.

it worked fine before flashing
as the title says

Wonder if it has something to do with battery stats?
I found that when I'm on the subway and using the data network when I lose signal, I found that the phone always powers down.
But I also found that it tends to power off.. just by being under 60% battery (~__~)
Hope someone can figure this one out soon
( running ewJET 3.7.1ex + EW xKernel 1.7.1ex.c Conservative that it could very well have something to do with custom kernels)

I upgraded my Rogers X10a to gingerbread and now it powers off every day a couple of times/day.
Sometimes when i listen musing, sometimes when i take pictures sometimes when make phone calls.
Is a pain

Xperia neo - battery

Hi! Yesterday I used this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194823 - after uploading 2.3.2 Gingerbreak ran. When you press the root device phone began to root. After rebooting your phone's battery was 0%. I tried to remove the battery for 10 minutes but did not help. I also tried to upload the 2.3.4 but it did not help. But when the phone is charging the phone at the phone starts up and runs, but the state still beterii is 0%. When you disconnect the phone immediately turns off.
Help!
Did you have 2.3.4 and you downgraded to 2.3.2 to root? Because if you did that then unfortunately, there is no solution at this time for this particular problem.
I first installed 2.3.2 and then 2.3.4 to zrootować GingerBreak and after the battery is 0%
There's no solution for that YET...
I have this problem too guys. any help out there?

Actually if u hv 2.3.2, firstly flash again using generic 2.3.2 ftf..then root using gingerbreak...finally u upgrade to 2.3.4 via OTA..
ur root still there!!!
but if u hv 2.3.4, then u downgrade to 2.3.2+rooted via gingerbreak...=0% battery problem...NO SOLUTION!!
I have the same problem. 0% battery. Pleaseeeeee solve this problem ASAP. Need to use that phone.

I don't think so, because actually the battery is 100% before. Then it became 0% after downgrading. But at least give it a try. Someone?
I think the downgrading process draines the battery.

Its hardware problem.

What?
Downgrading corrupts the hardware?
Or the hardware is incompatible with the downgraded version which it was already working fine before the update?
Or do the 2.3.4 update changes the hardware?
What can it be?

GREAT NEWS!!!
Official solution to 0% battery problem will be released along with next major upgrade, probably the android 4.0 firmware. There might be another firmware before 4.0.
The developer (or director of testing, whoever he is), cannot release the official patch himself. However, thanks to the open source of android, he can hand over this work unofficially to a third party dev to develop an unofficial patch. This patch is gonna arrive probably on this weekend. So please be patient.
The patch is gonna be based on 4.0.1.A.0.283, probably 4.0.2.xxx as well.
This patch is unofficial, and volunteer work, so he will not be responsible to any consequence. Use it at your own risk!

[Q] Xperia Ray - Battery life sticks at %100

Looking for some advice on a problem I have with my Xperia Ray.
I recently lost my original Xperia ray which I had no problems with but the new one I was sent by Orange seems to have a fault.
The problem is the battery life shows %100 charged after only a few minutes charging. After charging, it stays stuck at %100 until the battery runs out so I never know how much battery life i have left.
Can anyone offer any solutions?

Here's what you do:
1) Flash .587 fw.
2) Flash new kernel.
3) Flash ROM.
4) Reboot.
Reason for this problem is not yet confirmed, but this happens after a battery pullout.

Try to flash a new kernel which is compatible with your rom
For unlocked bootloader user, flash new kernel should do the job.
For locked bootloader, flash stock firmware is the option. Else, contact Sony.
Thanks..its working 100 %

Xperia X10i turning off

Guys.
I have been surfing all the forum to get a solution to my problem, and I couldn't find it.
Let me explain:
My X10i was working perfectly until about one week ago, at that moment I had DonutHD ROM installed, working great. I don't know why or how, the phone start to turn off (without turning on again) when the battery was at 75% charge.
My first thought was Battery Calibration... didn't worked, I tried several methods, from apps to wiping the stats on Xrecovery.
After that I came here to search for a solution, I found some options, like reinstalling the SW, did it, with Stock SE... didn't worked. Then I tried again to do the battery calibration... didn't worked.
I just want to get your opinion in my case, I'm starting to think that the problem is on the battery, but I'm not sure, since the phone stills shows 75% charge and turns off, I tried to drain all battery turning on the phone after the first incident, then full charge, then calibration, with no success.
Any other ideas???
By the way, I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-943626.html... will this work??
Thanks for you help.

Thanks stephenhiscock98, was thinking the same, but wanted to check with the community here.
I also have this problem on DonutHD.
I've tried two different batteries thinking that the batteries were faulty. The only pattern I can see is that it appears to occur mostly when charging while watching youtube, or listening to an internet stream. Not sure if its an overheating problem.

Just in case try this might work but im not sure coz i dont know whats wrong with your X10
1) Wipe everything clean on your phone and also on MMC (I prefer formatting MMC)
2) Then copy the ROM and flash it and also make sure proper kernel and WiFi modules are used

Today I tried to calibrate the battery via Xrecovery erasing the battery stats when fully charged, the phone booted up, and only showed 2% on battery, fully charged again, unplugged the cable, and when the battery got to 75% of charge, again it turned off. :crying:
the three terminals in the battery (the middle one is thermistor). put a thin good-electrical-conductor-poor-heat-conductor material on top of the thermister (e.g. graphite). so, ur phone does not think that battery is heating up, so it does not need to shut down to prevent explosion.

X10 mini keeps rebooting

Hi,
A few months ago I upgraded to CM7. Was working great until some few days ago when I noticed the phone would reboot each time I took it off the charger when I had been using it as a hotspot. These worsened to the point where it would not start even when on charger. It would boot fine but when it gets to the start screen when it's about to regsiter on network it would restart. when I take out the simcard, it works fine. What could be causing this? Yesterday I upgraded to CM9, and I'm still having the same issue(works fine without simcard). I have also noticed that the radio doesn't work... keeps scanning indefinately, and when I take a picture, the phone shuts down. your help would be much appreciated!!
Try restoring it with seus (backup first), reflash kernel and restore backup/reinstall ROM. That's what I would do.

Random shutdowns.

My x10 is about 2 1/2 years old now. I'm unlocked bootloader and running Wolf's ROM. In the past month the phone has started shutting off randomly...it gives me an 'Android System...shutting down' message...sits on the screen for 10 seconds or so and then turns off. Doesn't matter what battery % i have left. Often when recording video but yesterday it did it in the camera app and then once checking twitter. Sometimes it can go days without doing it...other days its just really annoying.
Any thoughts?
