With the newest market update, I am constantly getting force closes with it. I am running CM7 (2.3.5, kernel 2.6.35.7) and the market version in question would be 3.1.3. I have tried clearing the app cache and uninstalling the update. I also tried using one of the old market apks, but it just updates and I am back to square one.

Same here. I a tually have a backup of a MIUI.us ROM loaded with all my app's. I load that and do update any apps needed. Use Titanium to backup the update. Then reload over to my CM7 and restore the app's freshly updated. Its a pain but I don't know what else to do for now.
I just noticed today that the Market Feedback is version 2.3.4, which I wonder if is related to the kernel version.

That was the first thing I did. I even made sure to wipe my phone 3 times. All I did was install nightlies 176 (then also did the same for 177/178) and first thing I installed after setup was the new v3.1.3 market. It still FCed. So I wiped again and tried v3.0.27 and now it FCs. Which is confusing the crap out of me I can't go backwards.

Actually had to go back to the 03/07/2011 version of GAPPS. I flashed that under root. Then fixed permissions. Rebooted and opened the old market. Agreed to the terms. Sat and downloaded ROM Manager (just picked a random app to see if it would crash). Downloaded and installed fine. Closed the old market. Noticed my launcher icon changed from the old market icon to the new one. Opened the market again and it had updated. Checked "My Apps" and was finally able to update my needed apps.
On a side note I opened up Titanium Backup PRO and noted three apps that were new.
- FOTA Kill v1.0
- Google Backup Transport v3.0
- Talk v1.3 (no idea why that's a new app)
Haven't rebooted yet, but that's a step in the right direction at least....

Yeah I tried that and it did not work. Even selecting English again did not work. But at least there are options, as some work for different setups!
Weird issue but I haven't heard much about it since last week. Hopefully something like this doesn't pop up with every update!

I've put together an update.zip with the latest versions of all the System Apps that come with CyanogenMod 6.
This solves multiple problems:
Allows you to update those apps that just don't want to (Street View, Superuser, etc)
Updates to system apps are stored on the "data" partition. This uses up your available space. By flashing this update, the updated files will be stored on your "system" partition -- where they belong, instead of your "data" partitions, where the files get placed when you update from the Market.
I'm not 100% sure, but I have a good feeling this is the final fix to problem #1. I believe this causes Android to update the signature associated with the app, "correcting" itself.
The updated apps
Amazon MP3
Chrome-to-Phone
Gmail
Google Maps
Google Search
Google Voice
ROM Manager
Street View
Superuser
TalkBack
Twitter
Voice Search
You can go ahead and download the file here: http://www.unforgivendevelopment.com/2010/09/25/cyanogenmod-6-system-apps-update-pack-09252010/
If you encounter any issues, or have any comments or anything, let me know.
Enjoy!

I flasheed with clockwork and had no problems.
so if I have understand this correct, every time a update is available we should not update through market instead wait for you to update the pack and then flash through recovery? because when I checked market now, I don't see Maps or Voice Search installed even if they are installed and latest versions, if I update they will get into the data directory right?
Thanks. Flashed clockwork now works. Newer updates from market still fail.

I have a 2-fold question for you guys:
I have apps on the /data/app partition such as Vlingo, SetCPU, Calibration Settings, MusicMod, Twitter, etc. Many of these are root apps and some are widgets that I use. The phone shows 152.61mb used and 43.64mb free in this partition, fyi.
I also have a most of my apps on the /system/app such as Camera, Browser, Email, Gallery etc. All of these are the core system apps. The phone shows 110.55mb used and 34.45mb free.
(1) If I move all of the apps from /data/app to /system/app can I?
Looks obvious that I wouldn't have enough space on the /system/app partition!
(2) If I move just a couple of widgets from /data/app to /system/app to free up space, would the widgets still boot up normally when the phone reboots or would they have to be re-installed?
Works as advertised. thanks

Thanks for the quick response Rori!
So I can move what I want to move to the /system/app and they will boot right along with the phone, however, the Market will no longer "see" them as installed on my phone, correct?
I understand that Clockwork is set to ignore signature checks. So, this zip should flash through Clockwork no matter what, but will only flash through Amon_RA's recovery with a proper signature.
edit: I get it.
Would also appreciate a fix for AR. Thanks.

There is an updated gapps over at cyanogenmod (Nexus One, Stable forum, downloads section) that is the full gapps bundle. Not sure about the signature situation, but if it's like the previous files, then it should be fine.
I installed eminence last night, and everything was working fine. The market wasn't updating to the latest version, so I manually installed the latest version from the backup I had done before I installed eminence.
The latest market was then working fine, until I tried to install X10iUser's black market, which then completely removed the market, so I re-installed the market and now it keeps forcing close.
Is there an easy fix, or do I have to re-install eminence and start again from scratch?
Thanks in advance

OK guys I am getting tired, I tried rebooting, clearing market cache, data. I am using void froyo with Franco's v18
And previously in my stock froyo rom I used to uninstall the market updates to revert back to the first version and was able to solve the problem to some extent. But this rom comes with the latest version of market and uninstall updates is greyed out...
The download bar progresses in the notification panel. But the market app doesn't show any signs of downloading at all, no progress bar on the market. And once it finishes downloading, it does not install.
This sucks really, It happens everytime
Any solutions guys !!!!!!
try market enabler. manual download apk file, install it and use it. see if that helps you
Sorry mate no success.
BTW, does anyone have a flashable zip of old market.

Today I wiped everything and reflashed andy's rom prevent those kernel panics I've been experiencing. After I did so, my market just won't work anymore, while updating apps or installing a new one, it just says downloading but nothing else is happening, I can't say it's wifi problem because I can still browse whole doing so. What seems to be the problem?
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda premium
I don't know if this would fix the problem, but you could do a fresh install of Market by following these directions. Or maybe flash gapps?
wow dats a really big problem just do not kill the market ever in your whole life....(this method work fine for me)
I've had similar problem in both Andy's ROM and CyanogenMatt. The market doesn't completely malfunction, just "delayed" as at first nothing happens but after a few hours I would suddenly get notification of download for apps I picked earlier. Not sure if yours behave the same, but in my case the solution was wait until the Market updates itself to version 3.1.x. (Or you perhaps can update manually.)
Remove data from the following applications:
Download Manager
Market
Google Services Framework
Flash this
Download the new market if the old one doesn't work
If nothing helps, reboot to recovery, wipe system and data and reinstall your ROM.
I got a server error in market after clearing data (

It will sort out on its own after some time(it did for me)
or try installing the new Market from here.
I think your apps will be installed after some time.
I've searched all over the i777 threads to find the answer but didn't, so here goes my question.
A couple of days ago I rooted my i777 and installed UnNamed 2.2.1. Love the ROM! This morning, I got a pop up about Swype, it wouldn't work anymore and to go to beta.swype.com for more information.
Of course I couldn't uninstall Swype and couldn't install the new beta, so I'm stuck without Swype, and that sucks!
How do I get Swype back?
uninstall swype with some sort of file explorer or ti backup. redownload swype beta installer apk, follow instructions....
TA DA you have swype beta again, at least thats how it always worked for me
I'm a bit of a noob so have no idea how to go about uninstalling Swype using a method other than normal...
I had the same issue. Thanks for posting the question and answer!

we all start somewhere, TiBu is useful, comes as a free version to test it out, i believe it lets you uninstall system files in the free version. otherwise some are known to use (file explorer es)??? i think thats it. any program that lets you get to the system files.
system->apps->scroll around till you find the swype file and delete

Thanks, I found instructions here in the forum under another device...guess I should have expanded my search. Here is the thread for anyone else that needs it...

This worked for me:
1) googled swype apk and downloaded (version 3.26)
2) uninstalled swype via TiBu
3) Reboot into download mode (CWM)
4) wipe cache and dalvik cache, reboot
5) install downloaded Swype APK
Thanks...I used the instructions referenced in the link I posted but Swype would FC at launch after I installed. Went back and uninstalled everything again, then wiped the cache and dalvik cache which I didn't do before, then re-installed, and everything works great now. Thanks!!

This worked perfectly for me. Thank you so much! Life is much better now that Swype is back.
I'm having the same problem, however, when I try and register on the swype site using dolphin and web the checkbox for terms and agreements isn't showing up so I can't get the email to download the installer. Are there any workarounds or alternate means of getting the installer?
*edit* I was able to get the swype installer, but I still can't register with the site to login and run their program.
*update* I'm not sure what I did wrong the first time, but I tried the other method in the post and it worked; after I flashed to an older rom and back. For whatever reason out kept force closing on me the first time.

Thanks! This worked for me too. I actually used the Swype beta installer since I had previously signed up anyway.
Just curious: Anyone know why this happened now? And whether this only happened to the UnNamed ROM or others?
I believe it happened to all roms with Swype pre installed on them. Since unnamed is based off of a stock model, that's why it was affected.
