Has anyone come across a rom or something else that prevents the data throttle? I've looked everywhere, there's an app that doesn't seem to work and all the other methods seem to be dead since T-Mobile started regulating it from there side

There's another thread about the data throttle and from what I have read in it there is no longer a way around the throttle. Sorry.

that bites, but thanks for confirming my fears lol
Yes I've tried everything, but tmobile catches up to it all......there is just no getting around it :-[
Sometimes they just don't catch it, last month they didn't for me and I used over 60gb.

I agree they are hit and miss on the throttle. I always seem to get the message but if I run a speed test sometimes I'm still getting full speeds.
Yeah, that's the same with me. Although it would be nice if "unlimited data" ment unlimited, not slow.

true. Throttle is actually controlled by T-pain mobile and not with the phone.

Nope.

Depending on what you consider 4G....

4g is a hardware difference, not software. The regular vibrant does not support 4g, but it does benefit from it since T-mo's towers are updated, therefore putting out more data, resulting in you being able to reach max DL speeds - hopefully 6 to 7 megs, which in my opinion is plenty.

this thread is getting interesting. if its really true that the vibrants chip really does support 14.4mbps but is soft capped, then this could be a break through in development.

The vibrant 4g will give us all kinds of goodies. We'll see.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I was thinking that the ONLY thing we need to do to get 4G from our 3g+ vibrant is to flash the 4G vibrant modem , when we have one.
The phone itself is locked to what frequencies it can use as well as what technology by the antenna, AND the modem. T-Mo is NOT going to spend millions on new technology that half of its phones cannot utilize, hence why our 3G vibrants have access to "3.5G", which is technically "HDPA", and not "HSDPA", right? The new 4G tech is all ip based, so all the phone would need is a properly encoded modem file to get it to work.
I mean think about it guys, does anyone own an analog race scanner? If yes, have you ever tried to tune into the digital frequencies? You get a modem-like digital noise out of it, because your radio lacks the software to decode the signal properly.
It sounds plausible in theory I suppose, but I can guarantee you this, IF it's possible xda-dev WILL be the first to know, I know I'll be trying it as soon as I see a modem upload!
Master tweeted that there were several 4G icons in the KA6 leak... Curious if it's the Vibrant + leak?
Where can I get the ka6 leak? Does ne1 no if it has the 4g

Flashable via ODIN or CWM.
As far as the 4G, I hope someone else who has played with the KA6 can opine. I literally just flashed the new modem like 2 hours ago. I do not notice an increase at my desk here at work, but I have not gotten to play with it outside where the signal is stronger. Fastest I've seen on my phone is with JL1, and that was just under 6mbps down practically standing underneath a tower.

as far as 4g goes, theres been a rumor that the chip in the vibrant is capable of handling 14.4mbps but is soft capped. theres a whole thread abt this rumor. mainly someone did a complete tear down of the i9000 and looked up the chips part # and specs. since the i9000 and vibrant is almost identical, its believed that the vibrant may also contain the same chip. whether this is true or not,no one will know until someone does a complete tear down of a vibrant. as of now,the vibrant can only go up to 7.2mbps .
I want to flash but I think I am gonna wait til some1 can verify thats its faster and everything.

I loss all hope on 4G is not because of having it or not,i was happy with the 4MB mine was getting, but 4G on my Vibrant mean that i will get even faster to the capping line of Thief-Mobile.

Thank you for your concern eltormo. I'm sorry that you are upset about T-Mobile's ability to throttle your services at their whim. Your contract Terms & Conditions are open-ended, leaving tmo the ability to provide you as little data as they want. You technically are not being capped. It's frustrating to all of us, but as it stands, it is still the best offering out there.
All that being said, your post is irrelevant to this thread topic, so please take it back to the [THINK TANK] thread you were on earlier if you would like to complain about throttling.
In case you lost your way: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872570
^^ that's funny!
I dont see how the speed of what you download effects, how much you download? Cap or throttle... Blah blah, more speed is a good thing. I for one hope that the vibrant does have the 4g chip, not just for obvious reasons, but it would be awesome to see what would happen in the general section. :gets popcorn ready: Then again I'm not holding my breathe.
Speed Test was showing a download speed of 0.06mbps and an upload of 0.10mpbs. I'm running Bionix V 1.2. Girlfriends Vibrant running 2.1 official (no hacked roms/kernels) is getting download speeds over 2.5mpbs on the download and upload is at around 1.10mpbs.
Does anyone know what the **** is going on? Pardon my language but this has been frustrating me all day, Pandora is dipping in and out, practically unlistenable and the browsing speed is been horrible.
I'm ready to just flash this back to stock and do this all over again but I'd really prefer an alternative...
I would try flashing a different modem. It seems like that would clear any issues up.

Yeah, I'm getting pretty good speeds with Bionix v 1.2. (2.5mb down) It could be you are getting poor reception with the new modem though, but I'm guessing you are throttled just like everyone else suggested.
after my first reboot with 1.2 my speeds were very poor, like .2 down, .3 up. Then I rebooted again and I'm back to where I should be. Check to make sure you're not throttled and give it a reboot.
Take a deep breath and reboot.
I had a similar issue and called tmob; they reset my connection (?) And told me I could pull my battery and wait ten minutes then boot up to fix it also.
My issue: I was unable to get any 3g connection and it wouldn't switch to edge. I switched to gsm manually and edge worked. I'm not clear on why it happened though or why switching to gsm manually worked. (I'm stock and this all happened before the froyo update)

I have noticed recently in the past 2 days my 3g on phone is running much slower. I notice when I try to load a youtube video on my phone it take forever to load. Also, when im tethering to my laptop it too is slow.
This just started recently so I'm curious is it just a network problem or are you guys aware of something going on my phone.
I am currently running:
Bionyx 1.2 with the Ka5
Thank you for your responses.

Yup that sounds like the problem
t-mobile now offers a tether feature for 15 bucks, not sure if it eliminates the 5gb cap but its a good question for care
Are you experiencing any issues?
Yesterday around 3pm I used my phone as a modem for my laptop and it worked fine no issues. But later on at night around 9pm when I tried using the internet it would keep redirecting me to the T-Mobile Tethering Plan page stating I had to now pay for that service.
Anyone else experiencing this issue?
Is there a way around this issue?
Btw I am rooted and using Bionix 1.3.1
Might be the Rom you are using! I am using Axura 2.3.1.3 Voodoo Rom and have no issues. Try using a different Rom! Had that same issue when using stock froyo Rom!

Just tested on trigger in houston, tx and am not being redirected so far Lol.
when did you sign your contact with t mobile?
Ive never had that happen and ive been tethering forever, granted i dont go overboard with it and use it sparingly. How much do you tether? if its alot that may be the cause.
No problem here either.
Thanks guys for your inputs.
I use every other day so yea its often I use it but not for long periods of times..
I'll post up a link to a pic of my laptop screen so you guys can see what it saids.
My freinds wife got that same message using easytether on her mytouch slide. It looks like our ride is over on tethering, it was just a matter of time.

Alright. So I have been wandering the forum and can't find a thing about this. When I'm using my 4g I seem to hit a point (100 mb or so) when the 4g just disappears. and WILL NOT come back till I do a battery pull. I have used the 4g on off app thing. I have tried ##778* (although I feel like there might be an answer in this menu still.) all in all it is frustrating when I'm downloading a 500mb rom from here and it cuts out 1/5 of the way through and just won't come back
does anyone else have this issue? and yes I have 2-3 bars of coverage at my house, so it should not be a reception issue at all.
thank you for the help!!
Hmmmm...not sure....4g drops out for me but thats only because im on their edge of coverage....never had it drop cuz of downloading a certain amount...what rom are u using?
Well I'm on ics business sense. I would assume the rom but it has done that from the beginning. I only lose 4G when I'm downloading something. Otherwise I have it all the time at home.
