Dont know if this is the right spot for this, but my girlfriend has a problem. She ordered the phone via a small (cheap) webshop. Apparently they buy there phone somewhere abroad. I think it is from Russia or another cyrillic country. We are from the netherlands. The phone does have dutch settings for the phone, but not for swype(swype only has english UK/US and two cyrillic languages). Result is that she can not use swype at all. Is there a way to change the firmware to dutch firmware or to change the swype. It's a Samsung Galaxy Mini.
Thanks a lot.

if i was to buy Hero in The Netherlands, for example, and it was in Dutch....how easy/difficult/impossible would it be to switch to English? or is buying English the only option for me?
It should be fairly easy to change the language on the Hero. During the first boot it will ask you to select your language. I can't assure you that the Dutch version of the phone can be setup in English. In this link you can see a video where a Dutch version of the phone allows you to select amongst Italian, Dutch and Spanish:
http://www.pocketinfo.nl/reviews/smartphones/12970/review-htc-hero-de-eerste-indrukken-deel-1.html
I can tell you also that I tried with the dutch version of the Magic and was really simple to change from Dutch to English... So, I would assume it shouldn't be a problem. I'll go shoping for a Hero in The Netherlands this evening, when I get mine I'll come back with a definite answer.
shopping for it where and at what price?
I was going to go for this offer:
http://www.belcompany.nl/NL/Alle_Toestellen/HTC_HERO.htm?utm_source=htc_hero_21jul09-26jul09&utm_medium=intern&utm_campaign=-banner&partner=tknb&banner=htc_hero_21jul09-26jul09
I come back dissapointed. They don't have it yet. Apparently HTC didn't supplied to them on time and they don't know when it will be available in the Netherlands. I'll get a call from the shop when they know more.
I am living in Thailand and have bought my SGS3 here and in my notifications it is asking me to set up my Software updater. Here it asks you to select your country. While I live here in Thailand I am not Thai and would like my phone to behave as though it was bought and used in Canada. I am wondering if i should change this option here to canada or leave it at the already defaulted Thailand. I am not interested in having anything to do with thailand as part of this phone, I dont remember ever having to choose and option like this on my many other android devices.
Anyone? thanks
Blaiz
Well I Chose the Thai country in Thai writing otherwise it was a continual notification. I'm just interested in how this effects OTAs
+1
Speaking from my experience with the Galaxy Note, the country you choose in that screen has no bearing on when you get updates -- the intended market of the ROM determines that. There were ROMs for almost every major country, and, for example, the German ROMs were usually getting updates earlier (even if your phone was initially shipped with the ROM of another country).
My grandfather don't know English and needs a better phone, I'm thinking of buying him a galaxy s 2 but I need to put Spanish as the language. Now my mom has the Sgs2 from Bell and I checked the settings and is either English, French or Korean. If I buy him a phone probably from ebay I don't want to root it.
Is there a way to add easily a Spanish package? If not, Is there another gs2 model (maybe att). That will have it already on?
Thank you

Just flash a Rom with Odin that have Spanish. For example, NEE.

This was from French to English you can follow the same procedure to change you language to Spanish.

I want to buy the new Gear Fit 2, but it hasn't been released in Denmark yet. I'm considering ordering it from Germany since it's the closest country where it has been released so it would arrive here earlier, but I'm worried that the device's language might be locked to German, as I recall reading some posts about users who bought the Gear Fit 1 having trouble changing the language.
Ordering from the US, Canada or Australia is not an option either, as it would have to go through customs and I would end up paying import tax.
So does anyone know, if I order the Gear Fit 2 from Germany, will the device be running in German? And if so, will I be able to change it to English in the device settings, or maybe from the Samsung Gear app on my S7E?
Would there be any other problem that I'm not contemplating right now?
Thanks!
There is no language settings in Samsung Gear and Fit2 itself. Most likely, Fit2 get same language as host phone.
Hi there, I bought mine from Amazon.fr (i'm in the uk). The box and instructions were in French but when I turned on the watch for the first time it was all in English. I've had no trouble.Hope this helps

Hi!
Norway here
I ordered from amazon.com (they collect tax etc.) so there won't be any additional costs to what you are paying to Amazon.
I get mine today, so I'll check if you can set the language to danish/norwegian.
EDIT: you can order it here: https://www.komplett.dk/search?q=gear+fit+2
Because of a good price (at least better than in my country) i'm considering to buy this phone from amazon.de but in description it is labeled "german version" which brings up to me a concern about languages available on it out of the box. Does it have just german? Or multiple languages? This may seem to be odd question but i'm not much into phones and i'm not sure if there can be limited list of available languages or should be all languages available. I will be thankful for answer.
My husband bought the Honor 10 from Germany (Amazon) and on first start up it brings up a long list of languages to choose from. It's just the standard Android 8.1 with Emui 8.1 on top. I'm sure you can choose any common language.
Wonderful, thanks for answer, a lot!
I asked the same question directly to amazon.de and they replied to me product is described as german version so mildly put, i wasn't satisfied with their answer. Sometimes it is better to ask someone who actually owns a product rather than asking a question to selling company.
I do think there is an European Version of the Software (C432) but still you can select any available language. If you buy an Asian variant with a different CUST number (firmware), you will still able to change the language to English, German etc... only the pre-installed software may vary from region to region (Chinese version does not come pre bundled with Google apps for example).
To be specific i'm interested if there is polish language (may be listed as "Polski") available, in the worst case english will be fine enough.
Pretty sure that is no problem.
I also have the German model and I can confirm that this is just a European version. All usual European languages are available, including Polish (I checked that explicitly).
