Screen Protector - Motorola Photon 4G

I've always used Zagg's Invisible Shield on my phones, but when I bought my Photon they didn't have them available so I bought one made from Skinomi. Skinomi uses similar technology, however since putting the Skinomi's screen protector on my phone touch recognition isn't that accurate, especially when scrolling. I'd like to hear what kind of experience everyone else has had with their screen protectors...especially if your using one from Zagg.

I just use the Otterbox Defender with a built in screen protector

None. Works just fine and protects my Photon (investment) Great. Got it off Ebay for $35.

i'm using the zagg one that i picked up from a best buy mobile store. took it to a zagg kiosk store and had it installed. it's got that rubbery feel that all zagg protectors have. but no complaints about accuracy from me. it's pricey for a tiny piece of rubber/plastic but it works great. one less thing for me to worry about.

For one, if you wanted to spend over $100 you could get a new glass screen and get it installed somehow. As far as getting protection then, I fully recommend it. Gorilla glass is NOT AT ALL as good as they say it is. My phone doesn't come into contact with razor blades and other crap it says it stands up against, but it does come in contact with minor pieces of lint in my pocket which somehow scratched this "impervious" screen...
As far as what type of protector...I didn't like Zagg or Ghost Armor or any of those stupid things. More expensive, more hassle than they're worth. I got I think a Splash Masque screen protector off Amazon or something. Something like that should do the trick. Not too hard to install w/o bubbles and I can't really tell it's there (feels normal, fits just fine).
zagg scratch guards are pathetic to use.
all rubbery feel with no smoothness unless you lube it
overpriced stuff that you cant through off because you overspent kind of feeling ..
get cheap clear screen protectors.. cost $2-5 over ebay for pack of 10 or something
I agree with the other two. Don't get a Zagg. I am currently using one and regret it. When I slide my finger to scroll or to play games, sad enough sometimes my fingers don't slide as smooth as opposed to some other screen protectors. Although I would say that it has saved my screen a couple of times. If your willing to spend the money on a Zagg and idk what your budget is like you could try out the otter box Commuter. Its isn't that bulky in my opinion and has a pretty good screen protector on it, with the bonus of protecting the phone itself.

I used a bodyguardz but didn't really like the feel of it and the proximity sensor wouldn't work right. Order some other cheap one off Amazon which feels a lot better but the proximity sensor still doesn't work right with it.
I can deal with the proximity sensor issue more than I could put up with a scratch in on my screen. Not sure if the zaggs interfere with the proximity sensor or not.

I use Zagg full body coverage, and I'm very happy with it. Yes, it feels rubbery.
But I'm looking the Splash Masque stuff, it's good to know a second opinion
I picked one up on Amazon called
Motorola Atrix 4G Crystal Clear Premium Screen Protector 2 Pack by REALOOK (AT&T)
I can't link since I'm a noobie poster. It's slightly spendy at 10.99 but has been great for me so far. Easy to put on with no bubbles, doesn't effect the usability of the screen either. By far the best screen protector I've used when compared to a few I've had on my iPhones.

Don't go the Zagg route.
First the invisible shields are a true PITA to install! (trust me it's a lot harder than a normal screen protector)
Second even if you get it installed correctly it feels rubbery weird.
Just go with the clear screen protector cheapies on eBay, and either a leather holster or a TPU clear case (depending if you pocket or not) and you'll be fine...
Im a huge fan of ghost armor. I like the look and feel of it. Yeah it sucks do pay $20 for the initial screen and service, but its $5 bucks after to replace it forever.

I went with Zagg myself, went in to the local store had them install it for 10 bucks. Just got it replaced, it does have a sort of grip to it on the screen that you have to get use to. Overall all I'm happy with the protection it's given my phone, usually after a couple months I'll start seeing scratches and stuff, I'm a little disappointed that I had to take it in to get the shield replaced today, but it was free save for the installation free so I'd say it was definitely a good investment for my device.

[Q] Screen Protectors?

Just wondering if they are needed for the flyer or will they get in the way when you use the pen ?
Sent from my Flyer!
I just got zagg invisible shield and i love the way it feels with my pen. Now i get good fiction using it on the screen and i can use the other side of the pen as a stylus without worrying about scratching the screen because of the metallic stylus.
Whether to use a screen protector or not seems like a very personal decision, based on opinions I've read on XDA. But I recommend using one. The Flyer does not have Gorilla Glass, and several people on here have had problems with scratches. The difference in feel is pretty minimal with a good quality protector, even when using the pen. So I don't think it will bother you in this regard. Some people even like the feel of the pen with the protector better than without. Apparently, the matte protectors (which I don't have) provide a little more friction, so the pen slips less and feels a bit more like writing on paper.
I have a Skinomi protector, and happy with it. I've also used Bodyguardz on my phone, and very happy with it, as well. But at the time I bought my Flyer, Bodyguardz didn't make a screen protector for it yet. But now they do.
If you end up not liking the protector, you can always take it off. Then you are just out $15-20. Better than going without, and regretting it, as there is no easy way to remove the scratches once they are there.

I bought this and it's really cool for fingerprints
I just got my Invisible Shield @ Best Buy last night for $9.99.
I really like the way it feels on the screen. IMHO way better than just the glass.
I've really liked using DC Mugen's matte screen protectors on my Samsung phone. They're great at reducing glare and fingerprints, and I prefer the feel over just the glass. I was glad to find that they started making a screen protector for the Flyer / View. They ship from Hong Kong, so it takes a few weeks to get them here in the US. Mine just arrived, and I'm not missing the fingerprints and glare.
Here is the link to their eBay store: http://stores.ebay.com/dcmugen
To me, screen film is a must for Flyer. First the screen as some others indicated not Gorilla glass, and the bare glass is no good to use the pen due to too low friction. A good-quality antiglare film is good for i) the viewing experience with no light reflection ii) lowered friction for good handwriting with pen iii) of course to protect screen for any possible scratches. Better to have one than worrying later
So far I didn't put any screen protector on my flyer. I ordered one from amazon and also bought the sagged invisible shield from BB. However with the zagg protector I am somewhat scared that I might get some of the application solution into the device.
So how safe is it to apply these and then squeeze the water out?

People apply the Zagg films with solution all the time. Just don't use too much solution. I'm personally not a fan of the Zagg stuff it's too sticky.
Lately, I've been putting on screen protectors from Photodon. I use their HD anti-glare model. Easy install, good clarity, reduces glare and finger prints. One of the best I've used and I've gone through a ton of brands with my various iDevices.

[Q] Zagg Invisible Shield and S Pen

Hey everyone,
I'm thinking about getting the Zagg Invisible shield. In the past, I have noticed that these invisible shilds are slightly rubbery and softer than some of the other plastic screen protectors. I am just wondering if this effects the performance or the experience of the S Pen at all?
Anyone have a Zagg screen protector installed?
I got the hd variety and have no issues at all . I think I'll be ditching this zagg for the spg crystal though I hear really good things about it and at half the cost includes two screens. Good luck,

Zagg are only nice because you can get them near a retail store, but utterly, they are crap. I don't care what anyone says but every Zagg i've owned has been sticky or really thick/rubbery. It might be nice though on the note since there is little friction between pen and screen.

Doesn't affect using the pen but the screen protector will show the lines drawn over time. Buddy had one on his original note and it looked terrible after awhile. He ended up taking it off.
They do make an HD screen protector now which really is like the glass screen. I haven't used that one with the S-Pen.
Thanks for the recommendations....I'll look into SPG.
I just assumed with all of the retail stores and marketing that the Zagg stuff was the best. Glad to have opinions and reviews from other users to make an informed decision. Thanks!
I have the hd zagg. The rubberyness to the zagh seems to make sense. It doesnt cause friction on finger or spen but if you press to hard it does leave an indent. But the indent ise gone after a half hour or so. It like re expands lol

They are a total rip off. Anything that is mass marketed usually becomes that way. I have friends who love them, and then I show them my phone and they are like what? there is a screen protector on there? I've never liked Zagg. The HD one may be nice, but i'm wondering how they do the glass screen on a curved screen? I was under the impression this wasn't possible.
The hd is not a glass screen fyi. It's the same material as the og just supposedly clearer. It's junk and I wasted 27$ on it. I'll be switching to the spg crystal. For 15$ and you get 2 screens. Zagg=****
My spg is awesome. It's the ultra clear version.

Zagg Screen protectors and the S pen. Or any protector.

So I'm interested if anyone has gotten a Zagg screen protector and how it interacts and feels with the S pen. Is there too much resistance or does the rubber tip kind of feel sticky on it. If you don't have a Zagg how does your screen protector feel with the S Pen.
It's crap. While the Zagg adds a relatively thick layer that can act as shock absorber if you manage to drop the phone face down, I absolutely hate it when I draw on Sketchbook. It's sort of deformable, and the S-pen leaves small ridges in the protector as I draw, and the more I draw, the more uneven the surface gets. It was frustrating when I had it on my Note 2. Clarity-wise, it's quite good for normal viewing, but even a microscopic amount of oil smudged across can ruin the experience. The glass on the phone itself seems more oleophobic than Zagg's protector.
I'm running without a protector on my Note 3 at the moment, so I'm trusting the screen to Gorilla Glass 3. Since I have a wallet case, it won't have any hard objects gliding over it when I'm not using it. Few weeks in and I'm satisfied so far.
Thanks for the input bro. Duly noted that's what I figured would happen. I guess I'll opt for a privacy screen protector then. It's cheap, useful and effective.

Only the polyurethane based protectors have that issue (Zagg/BestSkinsEver/GhostArmor/Skinomi/etc...) because they are softer. The iSmooth/Spigen type protectors don't have this issue at all.

I've had nothing but good experience with Zagg. I have the Zagg High Definition on my Note 3 and haven't had any problems at all. S pen works great, doesn't leave ridges as someone mentioned above. Of course I didn't use the S pen in the first 48 hours to give the screen time to fully set in.

Since I've seen $8 and $12 tempered glass screen detectors mentioned in the last couple of days I don't see any reason why you'd get a plastic film screen protector.

Zagg HD screen protectors are absolute garage, they have been back since their original Zagg screen protectors before they added "HD" on to the name. Actually, that was the only improvement that Zagg has made to their screen protectors in years, just the name. I don't like glass screen protectors due to how painfully obvious it is that there's a screen protector installed, mainly due to the gaps around every edge, speaker, camera, sensors, Home button, etc. Not to mention that your Home button is now recessed. You'll notice most people wanting Home button stickers have a glass screen protector, just to bring their Home button back to being flush with the rest of the screen. If you want a screen protector that looks invisible, ZERO gaps around the edges, and feels just like your bare screen does now, then search "TechMatte" on Amazon. They are currently on sale for only $4.95 for a 3 pack! Much MUCH cheaper than all of the other screen protectors which claim to be "premium", when they'll actually either just be an eyesore, feel horrible to the touch, make your S-Pen unusable, or drastically deteriorate the now gorgeous looking display! Plus, TechMatte also provides you a lifetime warranty! I guarantee that you will be 100% satisfied, this will become your absolute favorite screen protector you've ever used or seen anywhere, and will LOVE it! Once installed, I bet your friends won't even know that you have a screen protector installed, and probably won't even be able to find it after you do tell them there's a screen protector on your phone! I posted a review of it with pics (I tried to photograph it anyway) here in this subforum. Here's a link to them on Amazon : http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CK...r=1-10&m=AG8AYSVS7E5IO&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70
The stock photo in Amazon shows the screen protector having a U shaped cutout at the bottom for the Home button, but it actually has a precise cutout for the Home button which provides coverage all around the Home button

Bodyguardz Tempered Glass

In my opinion total junk. I grabbed one to install and it's beginning to annoy the crap out of me. Dust and lint just collects all around the fan edges like the adhesive is totally exposed. Since the bezel is black it's just a definite eye sore.
It's pretty thick as well. Lost a bit of screen sensitivity.
I had a bodyguardz tempered glass protector on my note 2 and really liked it. I went with the Verizon-sold tempered glass screen protector, and I'm pretty happy with it so far. I am concerned it might be a bit too thick though. Usually no problems but occasionally experience unresponsive parts of the screen, though it's temporary.
