Has anyone got Titanium Backup Pro OR My Backup Pro to work on the Photon. My Photon is Rooted (verified by Root Check, even BusyBox is installed). I can't use Titanium at all and My Backup will ONLY Backup Apps but not data. I am under the impression it is has something to do with ROM's and their Kernels (Ran on EVO Great with Myn's Warm 2.2 then Synergy). Any workarounds? Thanks
works fine here.

Not having any problems with Titanium.
I didn't have any issues with Titanium backup, worked like a charm from my Evo backup.
Ditto that...
... worked fine, migrating all my EVO apps to the Photon. No issues at all.
I'm guessing you probably already tried all the recommended troubleshooting tips that the app states, like upgrading Superuser, etc.?

What do you mean TB not working at all? Does it tell you that you are not rooted?
Did you check under Superuser that Titanium Back up is allowed?

Wow, you guys are lucky. I have BusyBox v 1.19. And updated SuperUser. When I open up Titanium Backup I get an Error "Sorry' I could not acquire Root privileges. This application will *NOT* work! Please verify that your ROM (Which I don't have) is Rooted and includes BusyBox, and try again.
My Backup Pro works but Titanium won't.

Like I said and ask in a few posts back, when you execute the Titanium back up, superuser should pop up and notify you to allow Titanium Back up to have access to root. Look like you did not. That's why you get the error from Titanium Back up said you are not root.
Open Superuser app and check to see if Titanium Backup was allowed !!! It happens to me before.
I was using the paid version SuperUser Elite and it did not allow Root. I then changed to the Free version of SuperUser and still the same issue. It says Titanium has been granted SuperUser Permissions, but I can't use it wierd. As long as I can use My BackUp Pro, it's all good. I can download Apps & Data. Thanks Guys. It even says SuperUser has been allowed for Titanium. I will uninstall and reinstall.
Edit: Uninstall & Reinstall did it, plus updated SuperUser. Thanks guys, appreciate the help. Running a backup of apps and data know
BTW - Just FYI, I was able to pick up a HP Touchpad (32GB) last weekend and it runs on Wireless N 2.4 & 5 Ghz. Is this the only tablet that allows the use of Wireless N 5Ghz. The web browser is blazing fast. Fastest web browser out of ALL tablets. I also have a Xoom and it blows Dolphin HD out of the water. I use it for all my laying in bed web browsing.

Yes, that was me. I think the iPhone will Destroy Sprint's Network and bring with it Bandwidth Throttling and Data Caps. The iPhone is a Carrier Killer. We have Unlimited Data. When the iPhone comes, that's all over whe you sign a new contract. I will literaly keep my Photon until the Duct Tape falls off and go Trac Phone. I HATE the iPhone, NOT becuase it's an Apple produce, but becuase what it brings to a Network.
I have the newest update and its working just fine on mine.

As a lot of us do here we are constantly flashing new roms and what not that require fresh installs. I've been using Titanium Backup to restore my apps and data, which I love btw. The only thing is I have quite a few apps, around 120. Going one by one to restore them takes some time. Is there a way to auto install them without me having to press install on each one?

That is a feature of the paid version of Titanium Backup. When you send the developer a payment on pay pal, he will send you a file with a license key to unlock the pro features that you place on the root of your internal sd card. I highly recommend paying for it as it saves a lot of time and hassle.
Yep, Titanium backup. With the licensed version, it will restore all your apps and data/settings in a batch job with no user interaction.
I wish AppBrain would do this too.
Lastly, I just switched over from the HTC EVO. The Cyanomod ROM (CM6) has remote backups through Google, so it will install the apps automagically. I'm pretty sure this is a Froyo thing, but CM6 is the only ROM I know of that does the auto-download/install thing.
Ah ok yeah was planing on getting this since I flash a lot.

Could be IMO, but Titanium is 1000 X's better than My Backup Pro. Everything about Titanium is better, and the developer is amazing.
I'm sure google will do its part but it only restores my contacts, calender, & gmail I believe. I usually use Titanium Backup to restore my apps+settings but it will not work since my 3D won't be rooted.
What's the best non rooted app that will backup and restore my apps+settings from my EVO to the EVO 3D?

Lets first think about rooting before moving the rooted files over lol.
waiting patiently for root to occur first.. then, load up all the apps and data FRESH.
U want a clean install, not a move.
yeah, guess you're right. forgot quite a few of my apps only work if rooted. not just TB. so other than manually writing down what apps I have installed, whats best to use to reinstall my apps (without their settings)

AppBrain can help, you can create a list of apps and restore to your new phone.
Honestly, though, for a new install, the Android Market does a great job now of installing. Go to My Library (I believe) and you will have a list of your apps. Just click to install each one you want on your new phone. I found that if you queue up too many at once, you might get an error, but that was on my OG EVO, so it may have had to do with memory limitations more than the process. This doesn't give you a listing of currently installed, so if you have too many extra apps that you have removed from your previous phone, you might have a bit of sorting to do.
Iv e been playing with this method of reinstalling with my last few ROM changes and it works just about as well as TB or anything else (assuming you know what apps you're installing). I guess it's a little trickier if you have apps from different sources (Amazon, etc.)
I doubt hes very worried about re installing all his apps, thats fairly easy. logining into all the services/apps you use is the annoying part. as far as I know, only a rooted app can restore that type of data, which is unfortunate.

I'd be wary of letting any of the backup apps restore services, bluetooth pairing, etc. across devices. Might be okay, but if it's not, you'll probably have wasted a lot more time fixing it than doing it the sure way the first time.

MyBackup Pro transfers everything over, but I lost nearly all of my app settings. By the time we get root I'll already have all of my settings restored manually. Getting my saved game files from titanium will be nice though.
Wait, MyBackup won't restore app data? So how the hell will I be able to restore my Angry Birds progress?
Unfortunately, I was one of the few that got left behind when VZW pulled the update. I really want to update, even with the VM bug and everything. I came across this guide on how to manually upgrade to GB but I noticed it said it completely wipes my phone. Now I know Backup Assistant saves my contacts, my music is on my SD card so I'm not too worried about that. I'm afraid I might lose app data suchas all the hours and HOURS I put into Angry Birds Rio to get 3 stars on every level. Can anyone help me find a way to fully save all of my app data before I manually upgrade? BTW I've never rooted and I'm on stock Froyo
Do you plan on rooting? If so use the Revolutionary method it works great and there are plenty of How To guides to step you through it. As far as backing up your Angry Birds, Titanium Backup works very well. However, you do need root access for that app to work. The free version will do what your looking for. The pro version adds a couple nice features if you are going to play around with some different ROMs.

I'm still fairly new to the root world. I don't know or have not read of any way to back up your apps reliably without root access. Titanium backup, and Mybackup Pro are the 2 most common apps used to make back ups. There might be more? Titanium requires root, where Mybackup claims to have some functionality without root access.
From mybackup pro's website:
Key facts about MyBackup Pro:
Works on non-root phones, as well as root phones.
Root phones have the ability to backup APK+Data and Market Links.
Titanium has a free version that you can use that will back up your apps and all of their data. The Pro version adds a couple nice features that are handy for people that flash roms and like to change stuff around often.
Without root access Mybackup only does:
Application install files (If phone has root access, this includes APK+Data and Market Links)
Contacts
Call log
Browser bookmarks
SMS (text messages)
MMS (attachments in messages)
System Settings
Home screens (including HTC Sense UI)
Alarms
Dictionary
Calendar
Music playlists
Integrated third party applications
Not really what you want. Since you would lose your angry birds data and spend hours trying to gain 3 stars again on the levels! If you flashed the new Ruu.
It boils down to what you are comfortable doing I guess. Rooting is not for everyone. If you do not want to root you are pretty much stuck waiting on vzw and htc to get their OTA fixed and pushed back out.
Rooting is easy with Revolutionary, but you do void your warranty and open the door to being able to delete important system files. Once you root most likely you will find it hard to resist the urge to flash and try out new roms to!

I think the easiest way is to just root it. Revolutionary method is pretty easy (I hear). I used the old school ADB method (which was nerve racking for me bc I am no Android guru). The Revolutionary method is a little harder to un-root though.
Are you opposed to rooting bc of the warranty issue? After you root than you can back up all your data. I don't know of a way to back up data wo root. Plus with root access you can flash some sweet roms.
If you will link me to the guide I will try to remember to get back to you with some more thoughts

Oh yeah. that file will most certainly wipe you out and you'll have to start all over. I still haven't found a solution for backing up wo out root. Sorry.
I'm pretty sure backing up the .apk part isn't a big deal, worst case you can just redownload that. You want the DATA part backed up. The apk is just the file format android uses to install software. Like .exe in windows. (I'm pretty sure at least.)
The post from android police you linked will definitely wipe everything. If you don't make a root accessible back up you will lose all of your app data.
I totally understand the warranty concern. I held out for as long as I could. I received the OTA to GB and was very unimpressed. After hoping for months that the update would be more than what it is, I took the leap into freedom of root and made my phone what I wanted it to be.
Sounds like you should check out some new backgrounds to keep you interested in your current setup.

I had some of the same concerns when I recently unlocked and rooted my Rez. I don't thnk there is any way to temp. root since the OTA, however, you might look at MyBackUp or App Backup. Both are backup programs that work without being rooted. After root, MyBackUp bought back in about 90% of my programs. There were several I had to go back to the Market to get. My settings were not saved but I think that is my fault. In MyBackUp you can choose to save both apps and/or data. I had just saved apps.
Goodluck! It is well worth doing.

I have MyBackup Pro and you can backup apps and data. I haven't used it for that before so I can't speak to how it restores but it did a great job of restoring my phone and home settings.
I'm running it on a rooted phone so I don't know if that changes the options or not.
I was in exactly the same boat and mybackup worked for some but not all apps. I looked all over, but if you already got the OTA installed then you don't have other options. Sorry man. There is no temp root after OTA due to fixes against zerg root exploit.

Next thing is this one isn't activated yet and want to root it and stuff before I do activate in case things go wrong and I know it takes time to do it. If I want to run the cm 10.1 rom again on it does youtube, camera camcorder and all that stuff work and wireless tether also be hidden from verizon lol. What are the links to the s-off and rooting procedures so I can do this easily. I have allot more questions but will ask at a later time.
Thank you

I use G Cloud Backup to backup most things like SMS, Contacts, pics. (It doesn't do apps, but all the apps are tied to my google account and restore anyway)
As for rooting and S-OFF u can find all the info you need from this index thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141322
on CM10.1 youtube works, camera works, camcorder works but isn't perfect when it comes to focusing. IDK about wireless tether.
will titanium work from the sd card being the inc and then moved to the 4g lte? I didn't know I could use google cloud for sms and stuff like that
And is S-off better than temp root? and I like the twrp recovery Im using now, I take it it works well with this phone too.

What I understand is titanium will see your backups no matter. S off is of course the best way to go if your comfortable. TWRP works and is officially supported. You could try the new app carbon to back up your data and re sync it to your new device. And it only takes a second to activate the inc4G cause of the sim card
It's not a glitch this isn't Wreck it Ralph

IDK about titanium, maybe someone with more experience will chime in. I'm just trying to help because I've seen you post a few times, and I know if it were me, I'd at least hope for a response lol.
When I say G Cloud Backup, I mean this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.genie9.gcloudbackup&hl=en
I use it to backup SMS, pics, call logs and some other stuff sometimes. Although I'm still not sure how it would work backing up on one device and restoring on another.
Sorry I couldn't be more help. If it were me, I'd probably just backup the most important stuff to dropbox or something and start fresh on a new phone. Like I said, I'm pretty sure the apps will restore once you login to your google account on the new phone. I've started fresh on this phone before and it gives you the option to restore (always on wi-fi of course so I don't eat up data downloading a bunch of apps). Although I don't think it keeps the app data, just re-downloads the apps associated with your google account.
OK I think the s-off is the way I will go. I am installing g cloud now for mms/sms basically if it works it works. twrp is my recovery of choice also. so now I need to find the links and directions to it all. Thank you guys for your responses.
Oh btw does anyone know if the tether (wireless) is still under the eyes like my og incredible is after I rooted it?
How do you guys update this phone rom? right now I using goomanager app and it has ota for my DINC?
I can also use swype typing right?
umm I only have windows vista 32-bit, so I take it can't do the s-off?

NO, when you run it you select try ubuntu alongside windows
doesn't install on your machine, but you can run it from the cd
Just download a "free" Windows 7 upgrade Lol

The files will disappear when you are done. They will download to and live on a virtual RAM disk. Booting from the Ubuntu Live CD and selecting "try" will not affect your installed OS at all. (unless of course you decide to mount that hard drive and erase/modify files on that drive)
