We've lauded HTC and Sprint before for the way updates are handled on the EVO 3D, and it's time to do so again. There's a little update coming over the air now. One addition is a widget, the other is ... something. (Update: Ooo! New radio.) But that the EVO 3D can continue to get minor updates without causing major trouble is a pretty big deal. Nicely done.

i had to manually go under settings, system updates and tap htc software update to trigger the update.
seems to mainly just add a corp 4g widget .. and ppl claiming faster 4g speeds.
for some reason in midtown manhattan i dont get 4g signal where i'm at .. so personally haven't bene able to test.
They say it has a new radio too

by new radio, i'm assuming you're referring to the real radio.img which was in the last large OTA. i don't think this OTA has a radio.img. the downloads were very small, as shown in the screenshots above. one for roughly 1-2 MBs and one for 100-200 KBs.
a radio.img would be rough 20+MBs in size and require a reboot to recovery/bootloader for it to properly installed.
this update did not require a reboot and installed very quickly. the update will probably have only put the two downloaded files into /data/app.
Yea I was reading more about that. I didn't update anything but if there isn't s radio then I don't need it. My service sucks here, my og EVO is a lot better when it cones to that.

Hey guys was reading in the radio thread and trying to figure out what radio is giving the best coverage and data at the moment?
Currently I am on 518 which is what the phone came with out of the box. Have seen some say that this is the better of all of them but have also seen people say to actually downgrade...
Let me know what your on and what your experiences have been.
Thanks will be given if you can help me out here!
It would depend on where you're using your phone, no?
I need something I have no reception at work or at home

You need 00001 prl hack.

that prl hack wouldn't be a good thing to use..as your data always is roaming via Verizon's towers which can get your account terminated for to much roaming, ill post a tut soon though hopefully once I get home..

You could try out each of these radios and see which one works best for you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193101
The 518 radio works great for me.

Can't complain about those speeds while in a half basement. Luckily I have not had any problems with dropped calls or any thing either.

If I had speeds like that, I'd pee my pants!
I average 400 to 600 kbps at my home in Colorado Springs. I've tried all 3 radios and it seems they are all about the same.

Springs? I'm in pueblo on the south side in a half basement at work. I was only getting like 400kb downloads with my evo 4g. I flashed vipers script with the supra rom and it flies.

Except for the calibration... Right Mako?
It won't let me DL from market... Error processing purchase (even though its free). I just installed another app to make sure ny market worked, and it did. Although, I think I over debloated and maybe got rid of an app that the market used.
It is sexy though.

LMAO...whatever toots your horn my dude
I keep getting a "no data recieved" error when I try to go to my credit unions website using the EVO LTE. I used to get a similar message with my OG EVO until I rooted it. For those of you on non-rooted ELTE's can you click on this link and see if you can get anything?
http://www.myisland.com
I promise it's not anything bad...just my credit union's website.
I'm rooted with wifi on and I got the same error.

Thank you sir...so I guess it's not just me.
I am also rooted with Liquid Rom and I got an error.
I wonder if it has anything to do with Sense. On my OG EVO I was on an AOSP ROM and it worked but not on the stock sense. My wife's iphone opens up the page without issues. Unfortunately they don't have a mobile website.
No data received in browser, and network error occurred pop up box.

I can check from my AOSP tablet later and let you know.
It worked with my lap top browser, but not with my stock, non rooted (yet) EVO LTE.
Here's a pic of what I see.

It does not work on AOSP.
Thank you guys. I think I will report it to their website. It's quite the inconvenience to me right now.
We're distracted enough out there on the road as it is...last thing we need are a few thousand Android geeks looking at their phones to see if they have LTE. Or worse yet, toggle settings while cruising to get that fleeting glimpse of a not-ready-for-primetime LTE signal.
Let's be careful out there ...

Ummm, u need to be more precise. But, yes it is capable. U need jellybean or a rom that has google now in it. There's also Iris which is a beta siri clone. Google Now is really cool though. Impressed my friend this morning when I thought I had my phone off and must have pressed the voice search thing.
But it heard me ask my friend when does daylight savings start and it started talking from my pocket, so I pulled my phone out and it was still talking but had a card saying November 4, 2012.
Pretty cool, nice coincidence too, lol.
I'm jealous...how do I get iris on my.phone

It's in the play store, there are quite a few apps like it.
push the HTC Speak button, there are already voice commands on the stock rom
I don't have htc speak. At least I've never seen it before.

It shows up at HTC Speak when you are changing what buttons do in Viper4G

Its also the Google Voice Search button on the widget
When you use it, the voice commands come up. you can watch a video on how to use it
I always called that voice search, I never referred to it as htc speak, thanks.
lol so did i, only called it that because of Viper4G, but no problem!
Yea, I use it all the time, it works relatively well for me. I've also been using and app called maluuba. It's decent.
