Tired of the same old music player what's the best one out?
Have you tried Wimamp ?
I like Meridian
its really up to you.......try them all
PowerAmp gives you the best sound production imho.
PowerAmp+Galaxy Tuner = WIN
I have to go with Meridian because I ride a motorcycle, so I love its headset button controls. I knew the click to pause, but recently discovered that a quick double-click skips to the next track, slower double-click goes to the previous track, and possibly a few more I can't think of right now.
I have yet to found any headphones with multiple remote buttons that are compatible with the vibrant, so this was my solution to avoid certain death on CA's freeways.
I prefer Mixzing. I love the widget player especially with Widget Locker.
I've always liked Winamp and Doubletwist.

Got my setting from this post, sounds real good with this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=909801
Btw, powerAMP also has that headset-click-to-control feature as well. Better sound than meridian and mixzing....
edit:
disregard above link, here's the correct one:

PowerAMP also does the click thing as well. Plus it gives off much better sound quality
Power amp is amazing...especially through a full stereo. 2 eqs and and a clean sound.

Thats wierd, because the sound quality of pweramp was what made me switch BACK to meridian
maybe there was an update to poweramp, but i did not like the output
+1 Meridian. Headset button support is nice. 2 things notably missing: Lock Screen Support, and replaygain tag support. The latter is something I would really like, but the app creator has indicated that it ain't coming.
So far I have found that all of the music player apps on android suffer from one flaw: the random playlist - not so random.
I have about ~800 tracks on my phone and for some reason (winamp/stock player/doubletwist/poweramp/etc etc) always play the same songs from a select handful. It is like their random playlist generator peaks out after a certain amount. I have seen all of them play a track (lets say file #205) then go to 4-5 more different tracks then it plays file #205 again. I hit skip, and then it plays one of the 4-5 it played before #205. It appears to me, that they all use a built in android function (or some such) for the random playlist. But this function uses a dynamic ever-changing source pool. So instead of reading your tracks from the SD card and then randomly sorting that list and hitting "play" it, instead, puts all the tracks file paths in an array and then on each "play" or "skip" it generates a random number and picks a track out of the array to play (while not removing any of the already played-tracks).
As for the file affinity, I have no idea. It is almost like a specific random number set is always generated (like when debugging in VS where it always picks the same set of "random" numbers so that you can test the program flow).
Is there any music player app that is either true-ly random or uses the single play-list and does not repeat songs in the play list?
Wow...that was a long post.
Poweramp bit that's just my opinion.

I think I had. Was a while back though. I thought Winamp would solve this issue since Winamp on PC is kick ass and it uses a single play list and drops a song once it is played from playing again (until a stop or reload occurs).
I will try it out again and see how it goes.

I actually came from a hacked iPhone, but always used headphones with multiple buttons. That's probably the ONE thing I miss about the iPhone: the huge, blind following of the masses always supplies it with the best accessories. c'est la vie.

Thanks for letting me know. Sounds like there are mixed opinions about PowerAmp...I'll have to try it out for myself.
Was just wondering what you all thought of the stock music player, and why so many of you hate it?
I personally love it, it's very simple and easy to use. The sound quality is great.
I've tried powerAMP,etc. But I always come back to the stock music player.
I prefer the stock over PlayerPro, which I bough for my Motorola Atrix. It just feels more "intergrated" and functional. Love the status bar controll

I personally prefer the stock player, for the same reasons mentioned above. The specific things that I like:
- Notification controls
- Stock lock screen controls
The only dislike:
- No widget
I'm currently using Music Timer Widget which works really nicely with the stock music player. I have also tried the controls provided via Widgetsoid2.x and although they do work, the view isn't always updated correctly.
The stock player was unusable for me for two reasons:
1. No widget. There are a couple of widgets on the market that claim to work with it, but the only one that worked for me only worked sometimes, and was slow to respond and update.
2. It forgets the last playing position. This happened to me a lot, and turned out to be a deal breaker for me.
I switched to winamp and have been relatively happy with it (gapless playback and jumping to current artist or album would be nice, but I can live without them).
Dont dislike the stock music player, but for some reason it i didnt feel "at home" with it.
I dont like the look of PowerAmp but its my preferred choice (love how it downloads album art for me)
For me, the biggest problem was the lack of support for M3U playlists; all my other devices support them, so I had a number already made when I got the SGS2.
Playerpro + dsp 10 bands equalizer
You also have several widgets, lock screen replacement, shake control, hands free controls, skins and more.
For those using A2DP, the stock player is the only one that transmits song/artist data to devices capable of receiving it. It also supports shuffle and repeat that a lot of other players don't.
I usually listen to podcasts that lasts 30+ minutes or so.
The stock player doesn't remember the position if you exit.
It's fine if you're listening to a 2 minute song, but with a 30+ mins podcasts, it is more likely you won't listen to it in one sitting, but would come back to it several times a day or a week.
I personally use Ice Cream Sandwich - Google Music 4.0 ..
it has a nice user interface yo !
im using Poweramp - mainly cause i bought it for my Xperia Arc to playback .flac files.. and i like the App.. so figured might as well keep using it on the s2
i'm a stock music fan too, tried several but always come back to it,plain simple and good quality
The only thing I don't like about the stock player is that it forgets what I was playing if I exit it. Other than that it's really good. Samsung should do something about that.

Stock player is alright. But PowerAMP was worth just every single buck!
Functionality wise stock player is ok.
But when it comes to equalizer, I settled with PowerAMP.
Like PowerAMP for the following reasons.
1. 32Hz equalizer
2. Bass knob in addition to equazlier
3. Lock screen
4. Widget
So what is your favorite app for music playing? and why? key word APP so no flashing or anything hard. Just like from the market. and I know this has been asked a few times but I would like to know what you use. Like what you like about it. Simplicity? Features? etc. thanks in advance.
ALSO, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section. It is regarding apps but I wasn't sure if it should go in Q&A cause those questions seemed a lot more general.
TTPOD. and UberMusic. Poweramp is cool sometimes.

UberMusic for local, Google Music for streaming.
viva la MIUI
Poweramp is the best..
eq makes a huge difference.
PlayerPro - tried some apps, but PlayerPro has all I was looking for: A nice interface, lockscreen controls, can play videos and runs very stable.
Player pro is the best! Ubermusic is nice too but very simple interface for me..
I use poweramp.
Ubermusic
I love the UI although some said it's a mock-up of wp's music player.
Google Music 4.0.1 currently. Although I search for another one.

Just tried this and it is pretty awesome.
Nice and loud.
I can honestly say after trying various headsets, IEMs with all the music apps available, the best match of music player, phone and headsets are all different. Since poweramp, Zplayer etc all make a slight difference to the sound quality, you should try all to find which is the music player with your favourite signature sound.
If you like to EQ, try equalizer or Volume + in the mixture as well
Lookwise, I personally like Zplayer.
ease of use, probably playerpro for most but poweramp for me cuz I really like the way it divides the folders.
Google music + beta, that's where I store my music. I mean after all placing 6000 mp3's on my sd card would just be crazy.

Music app
I use gtunes...its cool, its free, music is free...the downside is that not all mucic you search for using gtunes will be available.but for free music is great. There is a new version of it on the market called music downloader if my memory serves me right.the correct gtunes app is difficult to find now days.
My favorite is definitely Google Music 4.0
The new UI is leaps and bounds better than 3, despite not changing a whole lot... it just feels cleaner. And the addition of being able to stream and cache makes it the most feature filled imo. If you're an EQ guy (I typically want flat, because hey thats the way the producers intend for it to be heard) their is an inapp option that takes you to your EQ of choice from the market, and it feels very fluid, almost as if it were part of the app itself. Google has come a long way in the music department in the year I've had my phone.
I'm using Fede's Music App (wp7'ish)
PlayerPro looks like really cool!

Might have to check this one out. Thanks
Hi,
I like to use the Music app from the RAZR because of its good builtin equalizer.
But, it's shuffles the audio files in a folder on default.
Already cleared the cache of the app as of the phone, but this didn't help.
Is there a solution?
Huh?
For me it defaults to being ordered so I have to enable shuffle every time I want music + press next as it always start on the same song.
I'm having this problem as well but like nearly all problems on the Razr it is frustratingly intermittent
Sometimes it plays through the songs in order just fine and other times it will inexplicably play them in some random order??
You are on Android, get better music app from market

I'm having a shuffle issue as well, and it makes me sad because I liked the stock music player. The "Shuffle All" button doesn't work from the menu button. It just plays the songs in alphabetical order... Also, shuffling with the other method doesn't work either really. To shuffles every song from # to M, and maybe the occasional song that starts with an S. I use PlayerPro now.
Use power AMP

player pro music player, been using it since the days of x10 mini pro and LG P920.
I use to use poweramp but have been using playerpro for music lately
for video either mobo player or MX player
Neutron!! The only player that supports crossfeed and normalization! It has the best audio quality of any app (tried like 25 different players) and the interface is an audiophile's heaven, although it might seem a little complex to the average user.

Same Schiphol.
Music is my hobby. Since I tried Neutron Mp, I don't care for ANY other music app !
What is limitation of Neutron mp?
1. It can't play .dts!
2. Eats battery, depends on version.
That's all.
What Neutron can do?
Decode .tta 5.1 chanels!
Decode 32/96 format. (Resample)
Dcode 24/96 format. (Sent as is to dac)
Decode 50Mbps bitrates! (Special format 24/382.1)
Normalizer function
Parametrical EQ. This is hard to use , but no competitor!
Strongly recommend!
Second recomend : runs also DSPmanager apk, delete all other dsp like eq.apk, musicfx.apk !

Just moved from S2 to S3 and installed Dice movie player and for some reasons it keeps freezing and hangs
Poweramp and vplayer here. I may have to give Neutron a go though.
I used to like poweramp but it force closes randomly. Mainly if I skip songs. Annoying if I skip like 4-6 tracks it then force closes. It did this on my Note too. Tried different memory cards, music files, etc. Nothing has fixed it. On my Note it was only fixed by going back to gingerbread.
Until that bug is fixed I am staying away. Even the update the other day hasn't fixed it. And the developer has offered swear f all for help when I report the issue. Blames it on my phone. Two phones, 4 memory cards, over 3,000 different files, different file system types, and same issue present in all scenarios on ICS.
Switched to player pro and all is well. Can hit skip 100 times in a row and it won't crash. I use MX Player for videos.
I wish neutron had a better UI, it makes my Aurisonics sound phenomenal. Maybe I'll give it another shot soon, see if I can get used to the UI

Actually the stock player seems good enough for me.
current using winamp pro (like the wireless sync features), tested poweramp, sounds very good with headphones but a waste currently have crackling sounds issues like stock player, hope it gets fix soon
stock and stock! both stock apps are amazing. poweramp only has the ability to delete songs while playing, aside from this the UI of stock is far superior. just wish it had as many options as poweramp
as for video, stock is great, love the landscape toggle, and subtitle support. and popular play, common what more can you ask for
