i just got the tab through bestbuy because it came with my new 3d smart tv. Bestbuy says "Your Samsung smart TV and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 can connect with each other for the ultimate home theater experience. Easily control your TV with your Galaxy Tab and view your Tab content (photos, videos, content from the "Cloud," etc.) on your larger HDTV screen.". Does anyone know how? lol. maybe a stupid question but i cant find it anywhere
I have a Samsung tv, serie 6 so they should be able to cooperate. I made a connection through USB cable but when I wanted to see pictures onthe tv from my tab, the tv wouldn't accept the tab. So I'm also curious ;-)
I imagine that this should be done with Samsung's 'Allshare' software, however it's not currently supplied with the Touchwiz software on the Tab.
If Allshare isn't available in the app store, then look for iMediashare or any other DNLA capable app. I'm assuming the TV is a "Smart" one, and connects somehow to your home network. Now look for a Media Link app/option on the TV. Run the DNLA app on your tablet, then run the Media Link app on the TV. The TV should see the tablet and any other media share devices that are on yor network. Pick either local or web content from your tablet, and the tablet should be able to send it to the TV.
I do this with my LG Smart TV. I'm working on the assumtion that all the Smart TVs are somewhat similar, despite being from different companies.
Good luck. It's a joy when it works.

No luck finding Allshare or iMediashare in the US market.
Samsung has a remote app that works okay, just not sure of the need for it.
Any other suggestions?
Twonky Mobile demo version works for me, although I can't say I've tried watching movies with it just yet.
Edit: Videos do play.

Hello, first post here. Pretty new to the whole smartphone thing. Trying to get the allshare, specifically the screen share to work with my tv. I have an ethernet cord plugged into a samsung tv with allshare with the other end going into a wireless router. The phone and tv find each other and I can stream a movie without a problem. When I go down to the screen share option in the settings it says no device detected. I spoke with samsung a couple of times about it and they said the only way for that to work is with one of their wireless dongles. I find that hard to believe that I can stream movies but not share the screen but I'm also new at this so I was wondering if you had any insight. Thanks in advance
DLNA isn't made for screen sharing. It's just not...I've been using DLNA for a good while before I got a smartphone with that capability. It's really apples and oranges.
i don't understand why in the tv manual it would say that you could though. Just that my phone needs to have screen share on it. was hoping to browse the internet on my tv or play some emulators on it. has anyone else been able to do that with this phone?
ndavis, it seems you are thinking of the phone's tv out feature via 3.5 mm jack. You can't run emulators over DLNA.
i've been trying to figure out how to play videos on the phone (from my pc). the phone sees the videos, but when i try to stream them, it says "unsupported file format". I know that the file is supported because if i physically download it to my phone, it plays fine. Any ideas?
Hello
First post here, and my first android phone incoming.
I have always been heavily been invested in apple products, but im getting tired of them.
So now i finally made the jump, sold my ip4 and orderd a galaxy s2.
But my ht setup is kinda the way i like it now, so im gonna to ask some questions.
I have a bunch of mkvs on my pc, i do have a TV with allshare/dlna. But im wondering if its possible to use like metadata agent with scrapes all the moveis i have on my PC/network. So i can view the movie info etc on my android phone, then send the movie from my pc to my tv trough the phone, if you know what i mean.
Its kinda hard to explain, but its quite important to me.
I use plex now on my ipad 2, it scrapes from my pc and sends it from the ipad to the tv using airplay.
I guess mvideoplayer cant access movies/files on the network, i see that its metadata support, i like covers, info etc.
Sorry for all the rambling, but to summarize (since i know nothing about android).
Is there a way to stream content (which is on the pc/network) through my phone to my allshare/dlna TV, trough an app that shows metadata.
First, of all, welcome to Android.
You will not regret the move from iOS to Android.
I think this is what you are asking about. The following is from the Galaxy 2 website:
"AllShare
Show off? Why not when it’s this easy. AllShare lets the Samsung GALAXY S II link wirelessly with a TV, laptop or even audio system to play multimedia files directly from the phone. AllShare synchronizes the phone with a compatible DLNA based product. So start the streaming to the big screen in HD. That’s media convergence made simple!"

If it's plex from plexapp.com you are using on your ipad it's available for android in the market for $4.99
I got the Galaxy tab 10.1, but I don't see a Google TV applicaton which plays video contents on Android Market.
I am little confused. will there exist an application to play Google TV content? or We need to buy a Google TV device?
Since I already have the galaxy tab (the hardware), it has android as the OS, it should be more powerful than any Google TV devices (Sony, Logitech Google TV devices), why there still don't have an application to play Google TV on my Tab. Just like the NetFlix app to play Netflix on my tablet.
I heard the Google TV content is free, isn't it?
Will it possible a Google TV app available to my tablet in the future? So I can decide if I need to buy a Google TV device?
Can someone educate me?
Thanks

I have the Sony Google TV device. There's no such thing as a "Google TV app." It's a totally different UI that interfaces with your cable box which it uses as a source of content. It's big advantage is that it allows you to search for content that exists both on cable TV and the Internet at the same time. For example, if you're looking for a specific movie or show it'll search your cable provider, Netflix, and Amazon, and participating networks (there aren't many, they're boycotting Google TV) and display all the choices at the same time. All the apps and content that exist on the TV version of Honeycomb are available in some form on phones and tablets. And any content available for free isn't coming from Google, it's coming from the content providers so if it's free on TV it's free on your phone or Tab.
Expecting Google TV apps being developed for Tablet PCs
Thanks Barry!
Now I understand a bit more about the Google TV. I looked at the Sony blue-ray player (featuring Google TV) and found out it does not need a cable TV input. This means all the video content it searches/plays are from the internet/local USB devices.
This is very similar to my Samsung D8000 smart TV which is internet connected and has the search function built-in (it can find and play movies/videos from YouTube, Netflix,Hulu etc) except is is not Google TV "certified".
I think in theory, the Google TV (content) does not require a extra hardware (like Sony or Logitech players) if you already have a tablet that connects to the Internet. Tablets can play the Google TV content as long as they have an application which can search and plays videos. So, I believe it is just a matter of time for applications be developed for existing tablets (android OS or iPad).
Please correct me if my hypothesis is wrong.
Thanks for your answers!
Hi guys, just bought a Samsung smart TV and I wanted to know if and how could I stream movies from my phone to the TV Wireless.
I'm currently running Cm9. If there is an app required can someone upload it please.. thanks

You need all share to stream stuff on your smart tv. I don't know if all share works with CM9 though. All share is included in the stock Rom, so maybe if you ask somebody he/she will extract it for you do you can try it on CM9
it works on stock
Dont know about CM9, but with the stock rom, you just need to make sure your TV and Phone are connected to the same wifi and then you play your file on your phone. A symbol at the top of the stock player shows a 'choose your player' dialogues and then you choose your TV. Its starts playing either instantly or with a prompt on your tv, depending on your tv setup. I have mine set to auto accept. Works with photos and videos. I have tried with 1080p movies and it works without a problem.
Tv is LG LM670T. 3d smart. its gorgeous
I think most recently manufactured tv hs dlna.
Just search your tv model on Internet then you should be able to find out.
If so, then download bubbleupnp app from play store. You can either set up another server on your computer, which I do, using plex server, which you can download for free for your pc. Or you can use your phone as the server as well.
You can control all the streaming from your pc to your tv or phone to tv right from the bubbleupnp app. Very cool. If you install the extra bubbleupnp server on your computer, you can even stream remotely. Very easy to set up and very cool. Real cool.

If I understand well, you have two options: (1) stock Samsung rom and AllShare Cast (it needs Samsung framework, hence CM will not work) or (2) use DLNA (check if your TV supports it, but I guess so) and one of the apps mentioned above (which will also work in CM as it should support DLNA).
Hey guys, does anybody know of an app or a method that will allow me to stream video (not YouTube or Netflix) to my Vizio Smart TV? It's a really new TV with all kinds of features...I know I could simply hook up my MacBook to an HDMI port or even stream video via Apple TV, but I don't usually have those things in my living room. I'm just basically hoping to be able to stream a movie playing from an app like Showbox(or something similar to) to my TV, without any wiring. Samsung's screen mirroring feature would be ideal...if it wasn't limited to ONLY working with other Samsung products Anyways...please, if you can let me know of anything you've heard of, or have used that might make this possible, it would be greatly appreciated!!:fingers-crossed:
Unless Vizio has some type of app for their TV that I never heard of, there needs to be hardware plugged into the TV that receives the stream. Cheapest and easiest way to do this with android is a Chromecast, $35 bucks, I believe it can or soon will be able to fully mirror your screen no special root app required.
you can use the mdl to hdmi adapter from Sammy and keep a spare (but hidden) hdmi cable plugged into the tv. As far as wireless Chromcast
Did you find a solution?
Did you find an App solution for this? I recently purchased a Vizio and looking for the same?
