[Q] Downloading Files - Motorola Photon 4G

Anyone have an issue with downloading files on their Photon? My work blocks alot of sites, so when i attempt to download .rar, .zip or .mp4 files, it starts to download then kicks back that the file isn't supported and doesnt download it. Anyway to change this so it downloads regardless.

Try Download Buddy or Download All Files from the Market...

Install Miren browser. From the market.

If you are referring to downloading from sites such as rapidshare, or filesonic then yeah it doesn't work most of the time.

[Q} Upload files from Android

Hi all,I am searching for a way to upload files on the web from Android. Tried dropbox but it cant upload large files, tried multiupload but says 0 bytes uploaded. Can anyone link me a browser that is working with file sharing sites on Android? Thanks

Dunno if you were trying with official app for dropbox but I have encounter many probs myself with it especially uploading. I use es file explorer which has built in dropbox and so far is much more reliable for me
Try 4shared
A good solution is to use an app called URLy from the market. It uploads files to ifile.com sharing service. No need for a specific browser.

Try skyfire to run multiupload & you can also try 4shared

if you have tabs enabled ( ftp, lan, etc) you will see a tab called net. this has an option to log in a dropbox acc.

Download from mediafire, megaupload, rapidshared...

Or go to the market and search type Downloads and the first app should be download all files and enable it and you will be able to download everything with stock browser

Same issue, tried using the download all app and still end up with a tiny .htm file. I have been using opera to dl this kind of thing and it works ok, just prefer stock browser for everything else.

Thanks for the tip but even with this option enabled, no dice. It really isn't the end of the world, I did look into this before and couldn't find solution. It may be some obscure setting I have enabled somewhere or other, just can't find it.
Some times download procedure doesn't work. Opera never fail.

If you plan on sticking with the stock browser, download from the market an app called "download all files". Its free, no root required, and will solve file type incompatibility issues.
As others mentioned, a 3rd party browser would also do the trick.
Dolphin downloads anything and much better than stock app

Possibly a dumb question, but are you having trouble downloading files or opening them? I ask because your OP doesn't say "when I TRY to download"
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
I had this problem. When I would dl something, like a pic or pdf, it would say failed or not supported. I hard reset the phone and formatted internal and the sd card. Problem stopped.

This should have been a no-brainer
For whatever reason I've avoided the alternate browsers thinking they surely wouldn't offer the ability to download the types files I wanted...I've been liberated in 3 minutes with the Dolphin browser.

Problem downloading

Hey guys I need some help. I go to a site that is password protected, I login, and then when I try to download a file (zip file), it just says download failed every time. I'm assuming this is because the downloadprovider apk doesn't use the cookie that says I'm logged in, so the site doesn't let me download it.
I can get this to work by using Opera. But with any other browser I can't get it to work. I don't like using Opera, so how can I get around this?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Even saving the header image results in a failed download.
I've also tried entering http://user:[email protected]/file.zip into the URL bar without success
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Can you use FTP? ftp://x:[email protected]
If yes, just download Total Commander/Ghost Commander from GPlay, and connect to it by that app.
Just tried your suggestion but it doesn't work. I just can't figure out why
