About time... for a bit I thought this will never come!
Can I install CF-Root 3.7 B80 on this directly from CWM 4.0.0.9?
If not, what shall I do before?

U can try a simple dirty trick to make cfroot works with any rom(or maybe just gingerbread) without loosing wifi capability. Rename ar6000.ko file in /system/wifi as ar6000.ko.bak using any filemanager that have root capability(obviously u need to be rooted before attempted this). Then get ur hands on ar6000.ko file from kpn and put it in the same folder as previous renamed ar6000.ko file, give it proper permission and flash cfroot b80. This trick works with zckpa china fw, so in theory it should work on other rom too. Btw dont shoot me if this doesnt work, im just helping

I kept my self really busy, let me tell ya what I did so far:
1- Flashed the new FW with Odin, things are smooth there nothing major.
2- Installed CWM 4.0.0.9, smooth and easy.
3- Installed CF-Room 3.7 b78 and then b80, had weird stuff going back there but it eventually worked, I lost the boot audio on the Samsung logo.
4- Installed EXT4 converter, no problem.
5- Started converting from RFS to EXT4. first time it finished converting but refused to boot correctly, I re-did all the above and started to convert again, now it refused to convert the /system, saying I don't have enough space for the restore, it kept failing here until I freed some space by using Titanium Backup and removed crapware, tried again and now I have EXT4 instead of RFS.
6- Enabled Apps2SD using the Tweak Manager DT: Auto Start.
7- Flashed the Apps2SD GUI, the phone rebooted a couple of times but it didn't install, couldn't see the icon of it.
And now, I must have some sleep! Good night ya all

i have gingerbread 2.3.4 on my ace so can i apply this rom

i get 1250 in quadrant without any mods . just after i flashed . amazing Rom .

CF-Root b80 already have this solution.
To install CF-Root to Gingerbread ROM: flash CF-Root recovery b79 using Samsung default recovery. Reboot into CWM recovery, flash CF-Root boot b80.

Indonesia offical Gingerbread update: DXKP9

If ketut is happy, then we all should be happy too, when do you think you can start working on it?
I so far had around 3 or 4 SOD's, not sure they're caused by the ROM it self or the stuff mentioned before that I installed on it, the ROM also randomly reboot it self while working, it crashed and rebooted while I was in the middle of a phone call :/, this only happened after installing the C-fr 7.3 b80.

If I were you, I'd use Kies to do the upgrade, you have the official ROM installed, why not use the official tool too?
If you don't care about the official tool then simply map each file type to the right section in Odin, you can still perform the upgrade without having the modem file.

[Q] Trying to install cyanogenmod 7 on SGS2

Hey everyone,
First of all, i apologize if any of what i'm asking here is stuff that has been covered before. I have been searching myself for answers for the last several days and have found plenty of good info, but i am new to android and i think i need to ask some question to help get a base level understanding of what i need to do. I am a bit nervous about bricking my phone so i maybe haven't been as adventurous trying to get everything running as god intended.
Firstly, i have used and understand Odin, using it to flash roms and such. I have rooted the phone and installed ROM Manager and clockworkmod 4.0.1.5 on the phone, but when i boot into recovery mode, it is still on the android recovery 3e and i cannot do the update.zip, I get signature verification failed. Now i KNOW this is cause of the android recovery 3e, and i have found this issue has been encountered plenty before, but my confusion is in some of the solutions i have found. Mainly the terminology and how the steps directly apply to the phone. For example, I found on another forum thread :
1- Copy the Zimage from your rooted kernel and paste it to SD card of your phone.
2- Flash the Stock kernel via Odin to get rid of Yellow triangle.
3- Flash the Zip file (Zimage) via CWM which you've already pasted in Step 1.
i don't really understand what the zimage is. Why do i need it, what IS it frankly? Where do i get it or a stock kernel for my phone. Does versioning matter much? i read that for the most part the kernels are almost identical to each other, and the fact all i really need is for the android recovery mode to be 2e or whatever it is (so it will not do the signature check on the update.zip file), that i don't really need to pay much attention to the actual kernel version.
What i really need i guess is for someone to break it down for me and either explain the steps or give me a detailed step by step on how to get clockworkmod recovery working so i can proceed with the cyanogen mod running on phone (not enjoying touchwiz at all).
Again, sorry if i am giving anyone spasms at my noobish-ness, but i have been searching for my answers for a day or two now and i haven't been able to find anything that really tells me what i need to know.
Phone : GT-I9100M
Android : 2.3.3
Kernal : 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKDD-CL
Build : GINGERBREAD.UGKG2
Thanks

That means you have not installed it flash CWM and \Root from here .
Root + CWM .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Beware of following instructions from a separate rom to the one you are flashing .
ZImage is the kernel .

You are confusing yourself .
Flash correct CWM from above link .
Choose the custom rom and follow the instructions posted for that rom .
CyanogenMod as the man says
Warning : Not for new users, flash this build only if you know what you are doing !!!

Thanks for the reply. I have been doing more reading and i think i am understanding the rooting process a bit better.
I looked at the link you posted (thanks for that, i saw the forum post for the i9000 but i never could find the i9100 post for some reason) and i DO have another question after reading through a good chunk of the posts on it.
There is no CF Root for my kernel, but the reply that was made to someone else with my kernel version was :
"Flash the Stock 2.3.4 ROM (XXKG5, XXKG6 or XXKG7) and root with CF-Root-XXKG6."
I understand that process and how it works but i thought you were only supposed to flash roms based on your firmware version? My KDD kernel version is running on 2.3.3
Will this cause any issues if i flash the stock 2.3.4 ROM?
Download cm7 zip for the newest nightly.
Copy it to internal sd card.
Flash any cf root kernel
Boot into recovery
Wipe data and cache, you will lose all your data on your phone, so backup sms (I recommend sms backup +), also you will lose App data so you might want to back that up first using something like titanium backup.
Wipe dalvik cache (under advanced)
Chose install zip from sd card
Select the cm7 zip
Reboot
If you get stuck at the boot screen go back into recovery and flash the zip again

Thanks Veyka.
I think i'm ok with the CM7 install process. I am probably going to wait until i really feel like i understand the whole process from front to back before i start messing with that though.
I can't get to that point yet however since i haven't been able to get CWM recovery working yet. I have the Android Recovery 3e, which will not install from zip files that aren't digitally signed.
So i'm trying to get CF Root installed and working, however, as mentioned in my previous post there is no CF Root for my kernel. I would like it clarified if it is ok for me to flash to a 2.3.4 stock ROM (i'm running 2.3.3) and then use a CF root for a the new ROM.
I was under the impression that this was not a good idea.
If i should not be doing this, is there a recommended way to upgrade my firmware to 2.3.4 so i can use a newer CF Root?
Thanks
Pick a new stock rom, I would go for kg6, flash it via odin.
Then flash the kg6 CF root kernel via odin and you will have cwm recovery.
Don't put the pit into odin and don't tick repartition or update bootloader.
There is a good thread with all the info you need on flashing stock roms with odin and a list of all avaliable roms.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Thanks for all the help. I was able to make sense of the process (which is actually quite simple, just needed to put it all together in my head to make sense) and get everything done.
Appreciate all the help!

Hi,
I have rooted my phone using the quick root guide found here and therefore I have my stock kernel back w/ root. Do I need to install a cf root kernel?
Also, when the new ROM gets flashed how does one recover the apps and data lost?

Use Titanium Backup PRO for your app. You can backup all of them then restore on any rom.
Is there anything that Titanium Backup doesn't back up for which I need to use another application?
Thanks.

[Q] How do I revert back to 2.3.4 KQ6 from CM7.1 Cyano Ace

Hello..I am really new and noob to rooting lol. This was my first time rooting and running a custom rom on my Ace. So I went for CM7.1 Cyano Ace. So here the description goes..
When i bought the phone i didn't check what it was, just I remember it was 2.3.4 in Malaysia. I got an update from Kies which took me to 2.3.4 KQ6. In the Cyano Ace thread, it was mentioned that I need to have 2.3.4 KPB or higher. I checked on Samfirmware that KPB and KQ6 are from the same region and KQ6 is an update. So i installed Cyano Ace by placing the zip file at my SD card, wiping data then installing it.
Now my question is, how do i revert back to KQ6. Shall i have to download the CSC KQ5 from Samfirmware and just flash it with odin ? If i do so, shall i have to wipe my current data and dalvik cache ? Or I have to revert back to stock Froyo which was for the earlier Aces ?
Sorry for the noobest question, but I am new at these lol. It will be really great Iif anyones elaborately helps me how to revert back.
Suggestion...
I think you can wipe your data and cache, and flash it using ODIN, just a suggestion coz I've never tried other roms than the stock one waiting for official Cyanogen

This is what I would do:
1. Download firmware files from samfirmware.com (now www.sammobile.com; stock ROMs available for download on the forums, for the time being).
2. Flash with Odin.
Thanks all of you..but the firmware I have downloaded, It's an one package file i guess..S5830DDKQ5 it's the firmware. Won't there be a problem if i flash it, i don't know how to flash one package actually lol. Because there is no OPS file inside it ..

Just use another firmware's OPS.
Open up Odin, check the One Package option, then browse for the .tar or .tar.md5 file in the One Package field (bottom-most field, if you can't find it).
Then START and wait as you normally would.

For safe flashing, I think, it should be use the full package. In the firmware downloaded rar file, should have: APBOOT*, CODE*, *CSC*, MODEM*. If there is no OPS file, it can be downloaded separately. Stock Ace rom use COOPER ops, I think.
You are right dianpadi. But i couldn't find such firmware based on the current rom. I did as the above people said like adeklipse. Now after flashing with Odin, the Samsung Animation just comes up and stays stuck at there, a bootloop I assume. So is it bricked ? I have my last roms backup on my SD card. Can i revert back to CM7 rom from recovery by selecting update after wiping it ? Any solution guys ? :/
*Edit: Everything is fine now. When the bootloop occurred, i went to the recovery mode and then wiped cache and user data..wala ! Then the phone booted just fine..I'm now updating to the newest KQ6 firmware via kies. Thanks to all of you guys specially doctorace92, Curius7 and adeklipse. I've now learned a few things lol. Another query, is my phone still rooted ?

Thnx for the quick response
I think the problem isn't cm9, when I was trying to install the from I couldn't boot to the cwm recovery because I forgot to root my device. Then I rooted my s3 with cf something root kit and then my signals were gone. I have the international version so my phone should be factory unlocked so I thought I should install cm anyway cuz that might solve the problem. But it didn't. I really like cyanogenmod and don't want to revert back to crappy touchwizz . The problem was there before installing cm9 but after rooting my phone.
Please any help. I really need to use my phone.

You should reinstall everything from the scratch mate, so revert your device at stock (using odin), then flash the correct [email protected] kernel and finally if everything is working flash cm9.
Edit: if your device is locked i think you can unlock it easily, search in the forum you can find out everything you need for this.

I have downloaded my firmware file but i noticed that i need three tar files for the flashing precess through ODIN but i downloaded only 1 file *.tar.md5

- launch Odin
- load that ONE FILE on PDA section
- put your phone in download mode (volume down+home+power)
- connect the phone to computer, wait for drivers to be installed and ODIN to find your phone (you will see a message in Odin)
- click start
- don't touch the phone until it's done. It will boot alone
Also, it might be a good idea to wipe data / reset to factory before and after flash.
You could find all this info with google ....
On the topic, I have a similar issue. My phone was factory unlocked , and got locked after flashing latest stock firmware. Downgrading didn't solved anything. I am searching the forums right now, but it seems like all fixes are dated.
If anyone could point me in the right direction, it will be appreciated.
Thx
Hey rsndetre,
Thnx for the post, but sorry I already did that and it worked ..
Here are the method I used to get back my device back to normal and got my sim card working and again reinstalled cm9
1- Downloaded Toolkit from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488
2- Flashed Stock Boot Image
3- Flashed Stock Recovery Mode
4- Downloaded stock firmware from http://fus.nanzen.se/
5- Flashed stock firmware using Odin (your method above)
6- Rooted the device again (using odin and CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4)
7- Downloaded and placed cm9 and google apps package in SDCARD
8- Installed Rom Manager from Play Store.
9- Downloaded and Installed ClockWorkMod from rom manager and booted to recovery mode using RomManager
10- Then factory resetted, formatted the cache and installed the CM9 and GAPPS V11
Then my phone was good to go.
My phone is up and running, thanks rsndetre, Arsaw and TecQuality for your replies. I appreciate your time
Thanks
Muzammil Ahmed.

Firmware I9300XXLFB backup

good morgning guys ,
i bought a S3 some days after lunch from my O2 provider.
one bad thing is, O2 uses a branded firmware.
i searched xda for threats with original firmwares, but i can´t find my version.
I want to use a custom firmware or try some one.
but i feel bedder, if i have my original version as backup.
that means all three files, csc, phone and pda.
at the moment i think about some roms like:
- CM9
- CM10
- Lite'ning ROM v1.0 - Fast as Lightning
So, i think the best kernel will be SiyahKernel S3 v1.5.1.

use this program to download your stock firmware.
root your phone with cf-root, flash cm9/10. test it out.
when you wanna go back to stock, use triangle away, wipe everything in CWM and flash your stock firmware back with odin.
If you get messaging app errors on boot (usually happens when you go back to stock from cm) you will need to flash your CSC in the corresponding section in Odin and wipe in stock recovery.
