What is the best recovery for Optimus V? - Optimus One, P500, V General

I'm still sorta new to flashing and I'm not sure what would work best with my phone.

I would also like to know which kernel works best with IHO builds
Sent from my LG-VM670 using xda premium

For recovery, i use IHO. You can find a link to it in the IHO thread. As far as kernel, IHO comes with it's own custom kernel.

Thank you and I just wanted to ask one more question, is there an easier way to flash the IHO recovery without ADB? I have no idea how to work with ADB, I tried and failed

Use Terminal Emulater. If you don't already have it, it's free on the market. Type these commands
su (hit enter)
flash_image recovery /sdcard/iho-vm670-recovery-4.0.1.4.3.img (hit enter)
If it fails, make sure everything is typed exact, then try again. Took me 2 tries. Good luck

Thank you, I will let you know how it goes. If anything goes wrong could I possibly go back to using CWM with Rom Manager?
Sent from my LG-VM670 using xda premium

also if you get errors even if you typed it correctly... reboot then try again... i've always had some error when trying to flash a recovery without rebooting first

I keep getting this error, I don't know what I'm doing wrong

I flashed the recovery then I got a fastboot error, wouldn't boot into recovery
Sent from my LG-VM670 using xda premium

Is this what it should look like? I tried a different recovery and had no errors
Sent from my LG-VM670 using xda premium

Somehow I got it to install

Thank you guys

Np yeah, that's what a successful instal looks like. Could of even been a bad download. I've had that issue, then i rebooted then redownloaded.

I figured out the issue, I had downloaded an older version of the IHO recovery instead of the one you mentioned, I had to go to the wiki to get the latest one and I got it to work. Thanks again

Just I tip I picked up over the years. You guys should rename it to "a.img" or something so it makes it ten times easier. Had to say something because of the screenies I see. =P

How to root EA28?

Having trouble rooting EA28 for a friend. Tried super one click, adb, and z4, all do not work. Is there an odin package or maybe something I can flash through CWM (that can be installed at the least). We want to be able to run titanium backup BEFORE going to froyo, so flashing ahead isn't an option untill we gain root on stock EA28. Thanks for any help!!!
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
If you got to adroidcentral, there is an all in one pack for eb01 froyo that is prerooted and comes with cwr. It is used with odin and pushed through pda. Has sc 2.6 packed in as well. Then you can backup if you'd like.
Don't know if that's what your lookin for, but it avoids having to take more steps to get you to froyo.

I want to backup everything through titanium backup first, then go forward, that won't work just yet (next step though ) but thanks for that fast reply!

If you want to backup your apps, try app monster. Workes for unrooted phones. Then you can flashed and root reatore with app monster then test, reflash to unroot, then restore again with app monter. Not sure what your tryin to test tho...best of luck.

Wait. Lol thought I was in the other post! Lol you can still use apl monster to back up your apps, then flash froyo then restore

How to remove a kernel?

I just recently flashed the kholks kernel on my phone ( I know I spelled it wrong :/). & its been fine and all but when I start not using my phone it reboots alot and I don't like that at all. So how do you remove it? Thanks
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
You're going to want to go to faux's kernel thread and flash the stock kernel he provides there
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
oh okaay , so i cant jst go reset my phone ? like factory settings and ect ?
nope, you have to reflash your kernel.
Oh okaay , & it will stop rebooting at random times ?
If you use the right kernel then there should be no issues.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
Okay but how do you know which is the right one?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
You take notes of what your phone has before you start flashing. If you want me to tell you the right one, i'll tell you. Goto nexus one threads and flash the first kernel you see.
I voided my warranty.

Help!

K so i found exactly what i need but i can't flash it because it says something in recovery about Google 1.5 and needed to be taken out in gingerbread or something but is there any way to make this flash work on cm7 or can anyone tell me how to make an app flashable, if its not too much work, so i can try to make the stock can flash on cm7? I think you'll have to flash it through clockwork manager. Wipe for safety reasons
Well i tried clockworks and is says some error then aborted. I didn't wipe when i tried it through either cwr or rom manager. Should i have?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Forgot to add that I'm on cm7 now if that helps any. Sorry i keep leaving info out its kind of a mixed up day for me

BIG THANK YOU TO @cenobite138 for hours of helping me test this
I just helped with testing everything out and it's working great for me! Font/background color is much better than cyan color IMO.
Any chance we could get a screen shot?

I've done several backups just to be sure and I can't seem to duplicate this. What are your exact steps, just delete the clockwork mod folder and then backup?
Is it a touch CWM or classic? What is the difference between your CWM and dsb's? Just don't have PC to test it now.

Rom Manager

Why dont developers add their roms onto it? There is only 1 rom on there which is cm. Would be great if there were some more for quick access to roms.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I guess they like to release them in a thread with a description, change log of updates, a list of things not working / bugs, and a way to connect with the users.
Putting it on Rom Manager is just throwing it out there with no support.
People still use rom manager?

Because ROM manager is responsible for about 90% of bootloops..
RM is the debil!
Say it, Don't spray it.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Rom manager is obsolete compared to TWRP. ..
And just some sound advice. ..
Never let an application do the flashing for you. ..
You'll likely end up soft bricked. ..
Get to know and understand your recovery and how it works, then you have a backup plan when something goes wrong. ...g
