[Q] X10 suddenly cannot turn on, please help... - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My X10 suddenly cannot turn on, press the power button, only flashing the red led 3 times(battery is full), the screen display nothing, press any button has no response, I do not know what the problem, please help...

Sounds like the battery is flat, maybe a problem with the charger or usb plug is not charging the battery? Does the light go on when you plug the charger in? Does it go green, if not then it would indicate a battery /charger problem

I faced the same issue.
My phone's problem was that when I upgraded to a new ROM, I didnt wiped the battery stats.
And phone was not turning on as the battery was flat and it was not charging also.
This is what I did.
Opened flash tool.
Removed the battery.
Pressed back button of phone and connected USB to phone and PC.
Inserted the battery.
Now I see the green LED means phone is in flash mode.
I kept phone like that for almost 10 mins ! (battery will actually charge a little when we do so)
Later I disconnected and switched on phone and it worked !
The first thing I did was rebooting into recoevry and wiping battery stats.
And the actuall battery was less than 10 % !
You can have a try this way and see if it can be fixed.
Good luck !

I did the same as Runaway Bunny. It worked perfectly after that. Just be sure to wipe the battery stats and FULLY charge your phone immediately.
EDIT
I ALSO had an issue with the USB port going bad so you may watch for that as well if the above does not work.
And let us know how you made out.

Thats very bad i kept my phone 5-6 hours on charge and it turned on this happened to me 3 times in a day
EDIT:My battery got to 5-0% in 2 secs and it turned off at that time it was my brand new phone...

I've been followed the step, but it show red LED (flash slowly) not green LED.
seems not the same problem, thanks!

What you see in LogCat when you use USB while switching on ?
I guess, now you can start ADB while switching on and wipe stats through command prompt, hope it helps.
I also had the same problem but fixed it as "Bunny" mentioned (Cute name though)

Phone bricked, cannot charge, need help ASAP

I need help with this NOW if anyone can. I figured I'd go ahead and make a thread for it so it would get seen. I was trying to update to 2.1 and something went wrong. Long story short the battery drained and now even when it's plugged into the wall all it does is flash its little red light. If I can get it to charge I think I can get things working again but as it stands I don't even know if it is charging. If I have it plugged into the wall and remove the battery the led turns green. If I put the batt back in afterwards it will go off after a bit and eventually "turn on" (in this case that just means that the screen comes on but is completely black but backlit) but there is no led indication at all so i don't know if it's charging or what. It doesn't seem to be. I really need help asap. Thanks in advance.
Silly question perhaps.. have you tried putting it into flash mode for SEUS (phone off hold back key, plug in USB cable)...?? does it register the phone?
Open pc companion hold back button and insert the micro Ian until it says stop it should then tell you your software is already the latest but if there's a problem you can use the repair option. Hth

Tried it just now, nothing.
My suggestion would be to plug it in for a few hours then try again. Or take battery out completely and try the back button without a battery. Might work. Might not. Sorry. Doubt the phone is bricked tho.

Just out of interest how long have you left it on the charge for? Because the red light flashes while charging until 10% and I remember once when my battery fully drained it did that for a few minutes until phone turned on again. Leave it for a while if you haven't done so.
The reason I ask is, incase you saw red light flashing and took it off charge straight away thinking its faulty? Like I said it sometimes takes a while to turn on fully when battery has died.
Edit: I know this is unhelpful, but that's why when you update via SEUS it says to ensure battery has 50%

I got he same problem 3 weeks ago. i could not get the phone to boot anymore even after trying all the unbrick method available here. so i sent it to sony ericsson service and they changed the motherboard.
okay, been charging for a while now and still have the red light. Pretty confident it isn't charging.
Plz try another usb cablr. I know about 20 people whoms usb cable accidently died and the phones cannot charge anymore ....

But the phone won't even boot. Will the battery charge while it's off? or when it's on a black screen? I know 2.1 lets it charge when it's off now, but the OP said the update screwed up.
Other suggestions that may take some time:
1. Find someone else who has an X10 and charge it in their phone.
2. Bring it to your phone provider and ask them to charge it.
3. Bring it to your phone provider and exchange the battery (temporarily?).
4. Buy an external wall charger (one that lets you charge the battery directly, not in the phone).
I ended up bypassing the phone and charging the battery directly via a macgyvered usb cable. Don't ask. lol. But I got it charged enough to use the se update tool and restore it back to the original rom. I'll try the update to 2.1 later after I get this thing charged all the way up. Thanks guys.

i experienced the same issue last week...
now i recovered the phone.
First recharge the battery by wall charger. led will turn green instead of red... beware,,, insert battery after you plug in power cord.
second open the back cover, unscrew the screws, you can find the video from youtube to guide you... in my case, one of the connectors was not sitting well.
try it again... it will flash smoothly normally only takes 4 mins to done the whole processing... make sure you have full charged battery during the update.
i am recharging my battery with battery charger now
and i just finish unscrewing my phone and reconnecting all the connector and cleaning the USB and the battery connector
lets wait and see
fully recharged battery and all well connected connector and nothing
so tomorrow i will go for serves ????
I ended up buying an external Battery charger, works well.
I have the same problem here!

Once I had my phone drain so low it died (not just turned itself off) and when I hooked up the charger, it took several minutes for the indicator light to come on and go into charging mode. Have you left it on the OEM charger for several minutes?

Yep, mine also started as white and evidently that means a completely drained battery. It changed to green and started charging soon after.

After about 15-20 minutes the phone booted up on its own. Just an FYI for anyone who thinks there phone is not working after it dies.

[Q] Galaxy s 2 Battery/USB Problem?

So.. I have googled the crap out of this problem and seen loads of issues raised, but nothing solved.
I am coming from a Dell Streak and grabbed me a galaxy s 2 from craigslist a couple months back.
It has been running fine and I have tried a few roms/kernels and a few days ago I got the following error:
When charged to 100%, I get the notification to unplug, when I do, it sticks. No big deal but even when the phone battery has dropped to around 80% it stays.
It does not go into MTP mode or think it is plugged in via USB. Although, before this problem originated, the phone continuously vibrated between charging and not, when not plugged in.
I have calibrated the battery, tried a mixture of roms/kernels and I am now on unrooted stock. The problem still occurs and sometimes it does not recognise a USB connection, like today.
Probably worth mentioning that when turning on (and not plugged in) the phone does not turn right on, just boots into the battery screen and flashes between the battery charging and the overheating symbol.
Anyone got any ideas?

Turn off the phone and put it on charging. Once it beeps that its fully charged, quickly unplug the battery for 5-10 minutes. Should work and 'recalibrate' your battery

Thanks, giving a go now.
Do you need root to calibrate though? I am on stock firmware and not in front of a windows machine to use ODIN.

OK, charged to 100% and got the full notification.
Left battery out for 10 mins and whacked it back in.
Turned on and it went to the overheating sign again.
Booted into the samsung recovery and I can boot into android from there.
Battery says it is as 88, cannot calibrate as I do not have root atm.

Get root and use the battery calibration tool from the market. The best idea so far. I suggest rooting with CF-Root, its fast and easy - its basically still your stock kernel but just with root.
If you really need the warranty or you'r scared of root you can install cf-root, calibrate the battery, then re-flash a stock kernel (unroot)

If i helped you, press thanks. Thanks.
Done and done.
Calibrated, even bought a new battery. Tried various other roms and appears to be an issue. Phone knows when USB is plugged in but does not seem to recognise the unplugging of the charger. And stays at 100% for a while before dropping down to like 80.
One thing to note is that this seemed to happen around the time of buying a dock for the samsung from Amazon, by Kidigi. I plugged the phone in to the dock without a USB cable connected to the dock and the dock LED lit up, making the phone think it was charging. Is this likely to have caused it/messed up the micro usb forever?
Thanks again guys!
well i think ive figured out what the problem was
Its due to overcharging or keeping the charger connected after battrey is full which has caused a hardware damage
im not sure if this is true but this is the closest explanation i can get the phone shows connected to charger even when diconnected only when i keep it connected for long time even after its battrey is full my usb connection has completely stopped working

well that the same problem with me when it shows connected to charger at 100% i restart it then the phone drops to ~80% battery although its 100% which makes the app battery monitor widget think i have a 1977mah battery while i have the standard 1650mah battery this must be the extra 20% which disappeared after the restart for me
I thought it may have been an overcharging problem, although no other phone I have owned has had this problem.
I let the battery charge all the way down (it stayed at 1% for about 3 hours) until it shut itself off. I left it on the side and it created a clicking noise, it was trying to turn the phone on as it knew the battery was in, even though it was depleted.
I plugged it in via USB to charge and it tried to turn on straight away. Shut it down and charged by plug until the 100% notification then turned on.
Still the same problem but one of my battery widgets warned that the battery was over voltage for a while before calming down.
If the phone cannot be off with the battery in, what could be causing that?

It has been known to be caused by a defective circuit board for the USB connector.
So, it needs a samsung return, I assume?

Maybe the only thing to try at the moment would be the old battery drain technique... Usual means is to tape down the power button and wait days and days until it is dead, really dead ( shows nothing when connected to computer), then connect to wall charger and reboot and see what you get. This is really the ultimate "hard reset" but same result can be obtained far more quickly by removing the back and disconnecting the battery for a while to remove residual charge... Not as frightening or difficult as it might seem, have done it loads of times for various faults and to replace batteries in several tabs.

If you're trying to discharge by taping down power button just leave the tab on it's own not plugged into anything... Plugging into something that charges rather defeats the object of the exercise

In some cases it takes more than a day, be patient... Unless you are prepared to remove the back and unplug battery... The aim of the game is to completely power down the tab and remove residual charge in components, the "hardest" reset available.... So, two ways to achieve that is drain battery or disconnect battery... If you drain battery you must be sure it's empty to achieve desired effect then you obviously cannot restart it without charging a bit as the battery is empty, so you connect charger then try to boot, but the tricky bit is being sure the battery is completely drained otherwise you are just wasting your time... That is why battery disconnect is preferable

Many Thanks to You stinky73
I had to purchase an iFixIt repair kit to get the correct driver to remove the two screws. I disconnected the battery, waited ten minutes and when I reconnected I was SO HAPPY to see the battery charging icon. I charged for a while a fired up the tablet. Everything was the same as if nothing happened. I am so happy because Samsung said they could fix the problem and it would be a flat rate of $150 which I don't have and I would lose everything.
Many thanks

Everything was the same as if nothing happened. I am so happy because Samsung said they could fix the problem and it would be a flat rate of $150 which I don't have and I would lose everything.
Many thanks

How hard was removing the back? I'm wanting to do some building for my 7510 and will be using it for testing so I'm most likely to brick it at least once or twice.

It took me longer to remove the screws then anything. I stripped them and will need to replace them. I tried a regular screwdriver before the tri-wing screw driver and paid dearly in time. Once the two screws were removed, use a plastic pry tool starting on the bottom where the screws are because once the bottom and sides are pried lose, the top will slide over the extended audio jack.
1.5 hours to remove stripped screws
10 minutes to pry open
1 minute to disconnect battery (did not remove battery or three data cables on top of battery)
10 minutes wait for discharge
3 minutes to re-connect battery cable (it slides forward and snap down)
2 minutes to replace case

Forgive the gravedigging, but I am unable to find anything regarding my situation, and the original poster has a problem that is similar to mine (my thread is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52931715 ). I hope someone is able to give me a hand here!
I am wondering, it has been over 15 minutes since I disconnected the battery completely, but connecting the P7500 to my laptop still shows an APX device being connected. Could there be some hardware issue preventing the device from being fully discharged?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Still no joy with waking the tablet up

I've got the same issue as Lightside and the original poster. Mine is a GT-P7500, which had CM10 nightly ROM with CWM recovery. I sold it on eBay, but before selling, I wiped the tablet and got it back to the Clockworkmod main screen. I turned it off completely and shipped it to the buyer, ready for it to be registered by the new user.
The buyer received the tablet and from the e-mails I received from him in the first couple of days, all was going well. Then, a couple of days later, he sent me an e-mail saying that the screen shows the android lying on its back with "Odin download" mode showing. A day later, he sends me a messaging saying that he can't turn the tablet on at all. The guy who bought it is an old man and didn't know much about fixing the issue. I asked him whether he powered the tablet off while still plugged in to the wall charger and he confirmed that he did. I asked him to return it to me and I can try and fix it, so now, I have the tablet back and it won't turn on. Here's what is happening:
1. I drained the battery using the cellotape method
2. Installed the NVflash drivers
3. Waited for the battery to drain (almost 9 days and the LED flash stopped blinking, so assumed it was completely drained)
4. Plugged it in to the PC and it immediately showed up again as a device under the USB controllers within Device Manager
5. I then unplugged the battery by opening the back of the tab, left it for 15 mins, then tried the wall charger again, but nothing. No charging icon on the screen.
When I try to press the power button, I can see the LED light up, but the screen is still blank.
Could this be a hardware issue and if so, what do you think could have caused it?
Could really do with some help here, folks! I don't want to have to give the buyer a refund because technically, he got it when it was in working condition and he probably did something to screw it up, but since he's an old man, I thought I'd try and help him, if I can.
same to me
