Update issue motorola atrix - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ive been really looking foreward to this new gingerbread update. I have a rooted atrix and i have been unsuccessful with this update i tried the ota update as well as the update from the computer.
It starts to update after the reboot, but then it stops and the triangle with the exclamation mark appears.
Can anybody help me with why this would happen and how i can get the update?

You cannot update if you are rooted. You can only update if you are running stock 2.2.2. It might be possible to update with your current setup if you do it through Motorola Software Update manager. Try it.
Otherwise you need to flash back to stock before OTA. Do you have an unlocked bootloader?

Is there an easy way to flash back to froyo? I called motorola and they told me i have to send my phone to them so they can put the update on it. I was going to use the glad enabler or something like that to unlock that but i never did.

Try the 2.3.4 fruitcake. Never call Motorola about your rooted phone...that what the community is here for.

Gladiatrix update question

Im rooted using glad root. I have gladiatrix installed. What should I do before updating. Im on 1.5.7 right now.

I'm not entirely certain, but I believe that you'll have to reflash an SBF (1.2.6 or 1.5.7). From what I've read, the update checks for deodex and simply won't go through if you have it. (Which GingerBlur, GreyBlur, and GladiAtrix all have)
Of course this is assuming you're referring to updating to the next firmware.
Ya I am. I didn't sign up for the beta but this morning I had a message to download the update. I downloaded it but have yet to install. I wanted to know what to do first.

Yea but if you're rooted with 1.5.7 do you just run Gladatrix to preserve root then update then run afterupdate again?
I reflashed to 1.26. Before update. Update to 1.5.7. After upadte. Updated to 1.8 whatever it is. Then after update. I just haven't put a rom on yet. I think im gonna wait to see if something ia updated soon by devs

Weird when I do the same steps, when I run Afterupdate when I'm on 1.8 it errors and says "osh/sbin/frozenfish: Not found"
U have Ian debugging enabled? After 1.8 update I had to reenable it

[Q] 1.83 and sim-unlocked phones

Has anyone with a sim-unlocked Atrix upgraded to 1.83 yet? If so, were there any issues? I recall some people with unlocked atrix had problems with their wifi after upgrading to 1.57, so i'm quite worried something like that might happen again.
I can confirm there is no problem after updating to 1.83.I have my phone rooted wifi works fine.everything right now works perfect

Everything is fine
I am sim-unlocked and on T-mobile and everything works fine on 1.83. Just flash the SBF file through RSD Lite and you're golden. I'm on stock motoBLUR by the way.
Just for another hat in the ring- Telstra user with at&t phone running 1.8.3 with root on sim unlocked phone and no issues. I guess its just irony I can't use the Telstra firnware on ny phone- lol.

I don't think you are going to have any issue, but if you need root i think you should try first to root 1.57 and then update through rsd lite.
Thank you for the info. I am downloading the sbf. Will update this thread when i update to 1.83.
Thanks again guys for this wonderful forums!!

Motorola Atrix Update Question

Hey everyone..
I just recently got a used motorola atrix. It was already rooted. I downloaded the update perfectly but when I tried installing it the phone got stuck on the exclamation mark.
I current have version 4.1.26.MB860.ATT and I want to get the 1.57 or 1.83 version. Any help would be appreciated!
Flash the 1.8.3 sbf in rsd mode

Sorry I'm not familiar with this stuff..
Not sure if this matters but the build number is OLYFR_U4_1.2.6
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056779
Is that it?
Correct. There is also a guide in the dev forum. Also one on ken's site. Follow that and you will be fine. Kinda hard to screw up

Okay thanks for the quick reply...
I also noticed when I boot into recovery mode it says E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command

My understanding is that 2.1.1 is for Bell/international phones and not ATT

Oh okay thanks..
Also another question.
I keep getting update available 4.1.57 when I already have 4.1.83. It keeps showing up every hour. Is there anyway I can disable this?

[Q] About the OTA 2.3.4

I think i might have been one of the dumb ones to do the .zip flash of the BETA #3 gingerbread update. I searched and noticed the only way to go back to 2.2 was to unlock 1st. the question is when the official moto 2.3.4 comes out will i be able to update to that version without any issues via OTA?
I know some maybe running soak versions which may prevent them from reverting back to 2.2 as well. So do you guys think moto or the devs will figure a way for those that didn't root/unlocked before doing the update.zip to start recieving OTAs?
If ur on kens beta going back to stock will work and stock is the way you'll get the ota until it comes out as an sbf to flash

I'm not on kens. i did the update i believe before kens was available. is there a way to go through kens route since i'm already on the stock 2.3.4?
If you flashed the stock OTA that was leaked, you risk bricking when flashing back.
Moto's OTA is designed to prevent backwards flashing.
I believe they found a way through pudding look on kens roms thread and there should be a link on how ti do so if nit there go to the calling all hardbricks post and do the steps there to prevent bricking

what if i just want to get the offcial ota when it is released. would i still be in luck or still need to unlock and root?

Can i still update ota?

so recently i rooted my phone and installed gingerblur onto it and absolutley hated it, so i used sbf flash to flash stock tmobile uk firmware back onto the phone then did a factory reset to get everything back to stock...
what i want to know is can i do an ota update or install an official update from motorola website using there updater tool, without it bricking my phone?
thanks
Yes the brick is related to unlocking and using sbfs
