I tried installing CWM and somehow must have done it wrong. Gtab bricked, would not turn on at all. Let the battery run down, connected to DC, still nothing.
Plugged in the USB and my Windows 7 computer recognized the device, so I assumed it was in APX mode
Followed instructions for NVFlash, got it up and running. Shut it down, but it would not come back up with the power button.
Repeated the NVFlash, got it up and running again - shut it down and same thing - it would not come back up.
I then used the FORMAT routine to wipe the Gtab, then the NVFlash routine, same thing. It recovered but would not power back up after powering down.
I used two different NVFlash routines, one from this forum, one from another. One included the CWM, one did not.
I also ran update on the Gtab, downloaded 1.1-3588 successfully, however when installing, at the reboot stage, the Gtab again would not power up.
Present configuration shows Tap UI version 1.0-2638.
Common problem is inability to restart/power up after these steps.
Any ideas? Is this a hardware thing?
PS - I have spent quite a few hours looking for similar problem in the forums without luck - however if there is a thread that covers this please point me.
Im having the same problem, iv tried both nvflash techniques and nothing, also cant find anything helpful in forums
Hoping someone else on this forum has an answer... Are planning to return it? Got mine on woot and I think I have 30 days??
Sounds like some crickets are chirping on this one. I have continued to review other threads and can't find anything quite like what I am experiencing as described above. I continue to re-NVFlash the gtablet whenever I need to use it. It will go into "sleep" mode and recover with a short power button push but will not come back after fully powering down.
I've loaded three different NVFlash routines, one from this site and two from another. One has the clockwork mod built in. In all cases I can't get the power up cycle to work. When I plug in the USB cable it pings indicating it is in APX mode (boot looping??).
The only thing I can think of is cracking the case and hitting the reset button.
Since I can re-flash it I guess I could always return it??
Any ideas

I recieved my gtab in the mail today. First think I did was put clockwork mod on and then Caulkins rom. Everything rebooted fine but when I tried to log into the market something strange was happening. My number keys (that I was trying to use for my password) were acting as a "back" button. Then it forced closed and will not turn on. When I have it plugged in, it's taking a charge. I don't even know where to start!!!! Any help will be much appreciated!!!

Sounds like initially your touchscreen calibration may have be off. Do you have a microSD card installed? If so, put an empty file called calibration.ini on the root directory of you microSD card. If you don't have a microSD card installed on your gtab, you can try to put an empty calibration.ini file on the /sdcard directory of your gtab device, although I read there has been some mixed success. The biggest thing is that you don't touch the gtab touchscreen during the reboot. Wait until the launcher of your choice is fully available for use.
If it doesn't startup, you may have to wait for the battery to drain. Can you get into ClockWorkMod?
Have youcheld down the power button for like 45 seconds? Are you sure it didn't go into apx mode?
Did you charge it all the way before modding it?
If nothing happens when you hold power for 45 seconds it may be booting into apx mode and that means its time to get comfy with nvflash. Good luck

Same thing happened to me. I was able to boot via nvflash, and it seemed like it restored everything. (But I notice that nothing comes out of the upper menu windows, where it previously shows news or weather kinda stuff), But when it powers off, I cant power on anymore. Any help out there ? I can only power it On when I use nvflash.
Mantara,
I don't think you meant it the way you said it.
Holding down the power button for 45 second by itself will not activate APX mode.
It may turn off the tablet permanently. (And if the tab malfunctions APX mode might
actually appear).
But to activate APX mode you have to hold down power and volume - until you get the "birds" and eventually a black screen. I know from other posts you know that, but
wanted make sure the new folks understand.

Thanks for clarification brother. I was checking the forum while battaling some serious insomnia and even with a pre post readthrough it made sense in my head.
Wanted mainly to know if battery got charged all the way. Lots of stories of really odd issues commingle from modding with low batteries. One of those issues being it randomly booting onto apx.
Like I said, my original post made sense in my sleep addled brain XD
Thanks for turning my insomniatic forum vomit into something potentially constructive

Hello,
I was wandering if my tablet is hosed or not because of the following information after I tried to install early preview
of ICS and I have opened it. I have taken to a repair shop but they would touch because 'they think it is a software issue.' Software would not cause the followine:
A:My Tablet will not turn on.
B:My Tablet is not seen by my pc(I have tried every plug)
C:Master reset button does not do anything
D:When I try to run APX, it says that there are no usb connected.
E:When I either try to charge with/without dock, it will charge for about 30mins max then the charge light will shut off.
F:Windows does not recognize my tablet when connected to my PC.

Perhaps you have been here but this site helped me out many times.
http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/
See this post.
I would use this thread if my tablet could actually turn on. I have tried to see if it will show up in APX mode.
Have you checked to see if you are actually just in APX mode?
There won't be a thing on the tablet screen, will look like it's off (no color change of the black "off" getting lighter from being "on", etc..).
If you were able to nvflash before, have you tried nvflashing again?
Just as a test, plug the tablet up to your PC (that you have used nvflash on before....so we know your USB config is valid for the Gtablet), go ahead and hold the volume - down and then press power for just a second. Now try to nvflash the device.
My tablet was stuck in an APX boot only process for a LONG time (about 9 months). I could nvflash it with different ROMS to test, just couldn't power it off because once I did....it appeared to never come on again. Reset button did nothing, Power button did nothing, screen was just "off" black period. I could still nvflash....

You should go through those links a bit more carefully. Watch that youtube video for a start.
I got home after school and tried all suggestions and I still could not get it into apx mode. I watched the youtube video but I could not get my computer to recognize it like it does in the video.
If you've checked your USB cable
and done the HW reset procedures in the posts correctly
and also tried the nvflash on Linux
and if the tablet still doesn't go into APX mode,
then you might have truly bricked your gtab.
They say it is unbrickable--but, really, it is not.
You got an SOD. Fosser warned people that tried the ICS alpha about this. The only thing you can do is unscrew the back and press the reset button on the mainboard. If that don't work... sorry you killed your Gtab.
Thanks for the help
Well,
It does look like I really did brick my tablet because I have TRIED everything. I knew what I was getting myself into when I flashed it.

You could try installing Ubuntu on a spare computer, and see if Ubuntu detects your gtab. Ubuntu does not need apx drivers. All you have to do is plug in USB open a terminal and type lsusb and hit enter. You will need to attempt to put your tablet into apx mode with power and volume down first. Doing it through Ubuntu will eliminate the possibility of a driver error.

I already had similar situation. Used power consuming USB HDD to train my battery.
After 24h - my G-tab is back
So my dad decided to finally get into the android scene after losing a debate over Apple vs Android tablets with me.
Managed to get a P7500DXKI2, White Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G and I've flashed around many android phones/mods and firmwares long enough to know the workarounds of Odin, After reading a major share of the stickied threads I decided to give it a go with what I understood.
Used Odin and the firmware from the provided link below in order to get the job done.
However after flashing the ROM via PDA, It showed signs of "Great Success! " Only to be followed by a never ending bootloop, on other end devices I used to just pop out the battery or hold the power button long enough to get it to a stop. However after doing so the tablet failed to turn on, No light, No icon's and connecting to the computer just resulted in a USB error sound and it can barely get into Recovery Mode let alone :\
I attempted the NVFlash fix [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1130574] Only to find out that I had a 0x4 error, and my adventure came to a halt.
Started to look around google and most related threads to find out stuff like this happens alot but very few ever share on how they actually managed to kick themselves out from this "stage", Most have recommended that draining the battery helps, some say touching the screen helps too [I assume this is a girl?], other's say that long presses should do the trick, Well I assure you with 5 sore red finger's none have worked. I feel like I should have flashed CWM before the firmware. But I've never come across problems like this with previous android devices.
In a nutshell, Help? I want to get it to boot more than sending it to the retarded service center's that take forever to get your device back.
Ps- It's just 3 days old.
Bump? :< Anyone?
Try this and post back,
1) Hold the Vol Down button (the left Volume button) and then hold the Power button as well.
2) Keep holding until you see two icons. First you'll see the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 logo and then the icons will show up. Let go.
Does it work?
Thanks for the reply, But as I mentioned before " it can barely get into Recovery Mode" :\
One of the options was to drain the battery completely, But it's been about 2 days now I've been trying to drain it dry by holding the power button when connected via USB, all I hear is the USB connect sound for a second then in device manager it pops up the USB Driver [One that was included in the nvflash thread.
That 0x4 error suggests that you have a locked boot loader, there may be no other way than sending it back.
Okay, so here goes:
I bought this P7510 on ebay knowing it was bricked but not knowing how bad it was. When I got it, I immediately plugged it in thinking that the battery was completely drained and I charged it overnight. The next morning I tried to turn it on knowing it would probably need some attention to get going and I tried holding the power button for 10 seconds with the vol down button and release, both volumes and release, vol up and release with no results. I tried plugging it in and doing it again with the same lack of results.
I have spent several hours looking through the forums here and elsewhere and gotten a whole lot of ideas of what CAN be done, but none have worked so far. These are the steps I've taken so far...please be gentle.
I tried Kies - No reults
I read online that you can tape the battery down and try button configurations and plugging/unplugging the device, tried downloading the specific drivers, etc.
When all of that didn't work, I tried the NVflash option and I get this:
BCT file not found <code: 21> message: flags: 1073840124
I've tried ODIN (I knew ODIN wouldn't work if the PC couldn't connect to the Tab, but I tried anyways) and it didn't even show up in ODIN.
I've gotten to the point where I've pried the back open and disconnected the battery and repeated the first steps like it was a cell phone and still nothing. The only way I know that it's still alive, somewhat, is that it still flashes NVidia recovery in the device manager.
I'm fairly confident that it can be fixed, I just need some guidance to get this fixed. I'd greatly appreciate any help given,
Thank you all

I am having the same issue hope some one can help us to get over it.
In same situation.
I'm in the exact same situation with a 7500 right now. Currently trying to completely drain the battery by taping the power button down. Have read this may be a possible fix. Will let you know if it works.:fingers-crossed:
I hope it works for you

the only thing I don't see here is the method of holding down the power button for 10+ seconds and tapping the screen. That will bring it to life for me. and each time it is a pain to turn on.
Also, the only way I can boot into CWM is via the CWM Rom Manager App, holding down the volume button while booting used to work but not recently.
hope that helps
I started to restore to a back-up I made two days ago in TWRP and I think it got interrupted by my accidentally canceling it. I was on my way out the door and wasn't paying attention and must've touched the screen (phone in hand).
Now it behaves much like cadcamaro's description in his recent post about having tried to install a Z2 ROM. I can get into FastBoot, but all options simply shut down the phone. If I don't choose an option, it shuts down by itself after a a minute or so.
Power + Volume Down gets a short vibration.
When I plug it into the PC, Power + Volume Up Gets me a blue LED that stays lit, but the PC (and Flashtool) doesn't see it.
Power + Volume Down gets an orange, then green LED with vibration that repeats.
The first time I realized it was screwed up, I did get into Recovery. I tried to re-run the back-up (which is saved to external SD), and it shut down.
Thanks, all.

Have you tried pressing and holding the reset button next to the SIM tray? Try holding it down for 2+ minutes and see what happens.

Thanks for responding, BladeRunner.
I just tried that in a variety of ways, and got either no response or it simply did what it was doing. I'll explain;
Believing the phone to be OFF, nothing happens for 2 1/2 minutes of pressing the Reset button.
Same goes for a variety of combinations of switches also depressed, such as Volume Up/Down, Power, or any combo therof.
(At this point, I'm uncertain if I even have much of a charge in the phone.)
FastBoot is the menu that has the green Droid with a choice of 4 options, including Power Down, Continue to Power Up, Factory Reset, and something else, correct?
The one time that I did get that to appear during these last few attempts to use the Reset switch, the menu simply shut down after 15 seconds. I continued to press the reset switch, but nothing happened.
Plugged into the PC, the phone continued to cycle Power-On every 8 seconds, with the Orange LED followed by the Green, then Shut-Down. (Apparently, as without the screen on I have no idea what it's really doing....)
Plugged into PC, Power Button in and Volume Up gives me the Blue LED that stays on constantly, but depressing the Reset Switch does nothing.
As I stated earlier, I have no idea how much charge the phone has, so I'm leaving it on the PC in the Blue LED state. It may not be charging, but all it does when I try to charge it any other way is cycle through every 8 seconds with the Orange & Green LED.
Sigh... This would be the first phone I've ever bricked, and I've been messing around since Vivo on the V3m, and always very careful. Sucks since this has been my favorite of them all.

I'm not sure what fastboot mode on the z3v looks like honestly, but your description sounds about right. You could try getting into xz dual recovery again and wiping the cache maybe? The instructions to there are in the xzdr thread. If you can get there wiping, a factory reset or flashing something might work but failing that you might want to try letting the battery drain all the way down. If you just let your phone sit that can take a while ( days at least) or you use a rubber band to hold down the poet and volume down button, I believe, to drain the battery. Once its dead completely connect it to your PC and see what happens.
A failed flash on a eeprom can be a hard thing to recover from, sometimes it can ruin the eeprom preminently, depends on the state the eeprom was in in the flash process, usually in erase process it will not be recoverable. . Removing power will not reset the eeprom, eeproms are preminent memory, but it can allow the device to be discovered again hopefully.
You have to get something to erase and flash again, if the eeprom is in a failed state that may be impossible to do.

So I'm assuming the eeprom is like an order of operations & file allocation index or something really basic upon which everything else is built? This is an old school term for file index, right?
So even if I manage to get everything wiped, I need to start fresh by installing the stock ROM that the phone came with and progress to where I can load the saved Back-Up that's on the External SD?
If the eeprom gets wiped as it's re-written from the Back-Up, and interruption blew this process mid-wipe, will my Back-Up still be useable?
How is it that battery drain will help my device become recognized by the PC?
Thanks for all the help.

Correct. Your backup is safe as long as you don't mess with sdcard storage. You have to get the eeprom healthy before you can do a recovery.
Back to working on my bricked Z3v...
Plugged into PC with Volume-Up held in yields solid Blue LED. This is the only time that in Windows 8.1 Device Manager that the phone shows up as a connected device. The name of the device is "S1 Boot Fastboot", for which there is no driver installed. When I navigate to Z3-lockeddualrecovery2.8.23-RELEASE.combined / files / adbdrivers and try to install the driver, Windows says "Windows could not find driver software for your device."
However, in the "Events" tab it shows three previous dates that the device was configured. It listed the device as such "Device USB\VID_0FCE&PID_0DDE\BH900JCL1N was configured." on those dates.
Was there something different I had to do for Windows 8? I cannot remember, but this feels familiar.
Driver Name: Google, Inc. (WinUSB)...
Status: Install failed
Meanwhile other drivers do install. What gives?

Your phone is toast and the only way to get it back is through the Flashtool imo. It wouldn't be common for many to have your circumstances with a bricked phone so you aren't getting much feedback. See if you can follow these instructions with Flashtool that I posted. I've gone from 4.4.4 to 5.02 non-rooted and back to root on 4.4.4 and then forward again so it has worked well for me.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63800685&postcount=8
See if you can download the 4.4.4 firmware after getting flasthool 09.18.6 installed. Granted my instructions are from Windows 10 64 bit but it should work.
Couldn't do any of it. My PC is s screwed up, but even in Safe Mode I was unable to load drivers that would recognize my z3v.
So I'm typing this on my replacement phone that came today via FedEx. I was very nervous about getting a refurb, but this one really is like new. I managed to get the glass protector of the old one, rinse it off, and apply it to the new one.
Now I'm on unrooted kitkat.
If I root and install TWRP, can I simply flash my saved lollipop backup from my SD card and make this phone exactly like the other one was before I borked it?

I wouldn't recommend that. I have used titanium backups before from one device to another and it worked. The whole system from a twrp backup really doesn't sound like a good idea.
OK. Think I'll just be patient and do it from scratch. Have to get the computer cleaned up first.
Really glad to have a clean, new z3v back again, but this ordeal has certainly impacted my confidence doing this stuff.
Thanks for your help, everyone.
