[Q] New Voice Mail Indicator Not Working - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I updated my phone to the 2.10.605.1 ROM and it seems that since I've done it, whenever I receive a new voicemail message, the indicator in the title bar is not appearing so I have to rely on the missed call info to force me to check my voicemail.
Has anyone else seen this and have any ideas on how to resolve. And YES, I've checked my voicemail settings and the indicator is set to on.
Thanks for the help.
Ty.

It's a known issue with the gingerbread leaks.

What they said ^
I setup Google Voice to combat this problem and I am SO glad I did! I love GV so much so that even though I am back on froyo (with working voicemail notifications) I still use it!

No Voicemail Notification Nero 4.1

I am not receiving voicemail notifications. I contacted tmobile and they tried some stuff including changing out my sim card, but I still don't get notifications. Is anyone else having this issue?
I'm running Nero 4.1.

Why would you let t-mobile touch your phone with modified firmware installed? No issues here with google voice notifications.
I didn't let them touch my phone. Everything they did they did on their end.
Google voice won't work for me. It wont finish the setup.

After you select GV at the voicemail setup screen, it typically would bring you back to the gv app... I'm not sure why it doesn't, but gv voicemail still works.
For me, when I select google voice it brings up a voicemail number box, but it wont let me do anything in it. I tried calling my phone thereafter and it was still my tmobile voicemail. Is there something else I have to do?

You need to replace the Message center number to redirect to GV instead of Tmobile Message center Number
It won't allow me to change the number. Some sort of bug with Nero maybe?

Geotagging and Call Log

I currently flashed the Team Whiskey Bionix-V flash (Froyo) and have some issues with it, well more so with Froyo apparently. Firstly, I'd REALLY like to disable geotagging. Disabling GPS and Wireless networks does not disable geotagging, anybody have an app to do this when taking a picture? Also, does anybody know of an app that will fix it so that the Call log history will allow me to toggle between ALL calls and SMS? I can do missed calls, received calls and dialed calls, but not _all_ calls and it's driving me nuts. D:
As for ur second request what I do is contacts >history > menu. It allows you to choose what to see.

How do you Terminate Voicemail Notification?

Guys, this is really annoying me so any chance of a little help please...
Today I received a notification of new 'Voicemail'.
I didn't know the number (hate it when this happens as there is a charge every time you listen to the message).
As it happens the message wasn't for me but I was still charged to listen to it.
Anyway, if that is not enough what is annoying is the voicemail notification simply will not go away from the top bar.
Every time I reboot the phone it first starts to play out loud the voicemail notification and the only way to terminate it is to pull down the notification bar.
Thing is what's further annoying is no matter what I do I can not remove the voicemail icon and notification from the top bar.
When I click to listen to the voicemail it simply tells me I don't have any outstanding voicemail so I then hang up but the notification will not go away.
I have been to the T-Mobile web site obviously there is nothing there and on the phone I have dialled 150 Option 4, 1, 1 which is meant to stop voicemail (I think).
Help please..... It is driving me crazy.
I also want to know
It drives me crazy
I am with fido and I have a voicemail notification and it does not want to go away
I erased the phone 2-3 times, I left a message in my voicemail and then I deleted
no matter what I do the notification is there.
I tried the same with my nexus one and atrix but I dont have any notification.
It seems to be the phone itself
Just a long shot, but have you got a txt message that relates to having a voice mail, if so try deleting?

Well, in a weird sort of way I am pleased I am not the only one who is having this issue (apologies prince_72). It shows the problem is not isolated to either my phone or some form of settings.
In answer to morg01 ~ no... as a protection to my profession once I have received and actioned any text messages they are deleted. So it can not be a previous message that is the cause.
If the blessed thing has not disappeared come Monday I will speak with T-Mobile to ask if they have an answer.
However, I think they will most probably point me either to here or here but all these do is terminate voicemail, not handle notification.
I'm hoping it is something as simple as their system that is reactivating the notification despite the fact the last one I received I deleted.
We'll see.
I had this issue along with the com.android.phone crashing issue and they just switched my phone out in the shop. It might be time for a replacement?

Time for a replacement! That's a bit harsh.
In all other manner the phone works absolutely perfectly.
I have the issue too, I don't have carrier vm set up (i use g voice) but I forgot to set up voice after doing a wipe and got a vm. It asks me for a password that doesn't exist and wont let me delete the notification.
I dont think a replacement is a solution.
This is a software problem and I think the problem has to do with the software
implementation of the voicemail implementation.
If I put my Fido sim card to my Nexus one or Motorola Atrix I dont get the voicemail notification.
Also just to reply to morg01 I do get text messages along with the voicemail notification at the status bard but I delete the text messages I receive.
The problem is how to remove the voicemail notification.
I have a feeling that the Baseband implementation is wrong.
I got the phone from Europe and I dont think it supports the special features from Fido.
Just to mention that I dont have Name Display as well.
I would have to wait for the Canadian version to appear and to flash the modem
but until I wait that I will be really happy to remove that stupid ugly notification
I've been using Google Voice for the last 6 months. It's not always perfect, but you can read a transcript of your mail. And it's free and reversable.

Finally I fixed the notification problem
My carrier (FIDO) has two voicemail systems. One is for Iphone with the visual voicemail and the second is the reset of phones.
I used to have the second. It seems Galaxy S II does not really work ok with the more standard. The CSR switched me over to the visual voicemail and now everything works ok.

Nice one.... That proves it's a carrier issue.
I'm hoping to get to the bottom of my problem tomorrow.

Google Voice issues today?

I have been getting an "all circuits are busy" message while trying to access my voicemail *86 today. An incoming call gets the same message when trying to leave a voicemail.
Anyone else have/had this issue? I've only had GV setup for 3 days and its been great so far.
Thanks

Sounds like its not set up properly. *86 is not used for gv, but rather the market app. Also you need to forward your missed calls by dialing *71<your Google voice number>(send)

I was having the same issues last night. People calling me said that they were getting "all circuits busy" and "number not in service" while trying to leave me voicemail. I haven't changed my GV setup since I set it up months ago.
I haven't had any calls today yet, so I don't know if it's fixed or not.
Update: Just had a call go to voicemail and it worked just fine. There was a GV update yesterday in the market; I wonder if Google was having trouble with that...?

New Voicemail Notification won't go away..

In my notification menu bar, the a New Voicemail notification will not disappear. There is no clear option for it. I have tried many roms, the only one that got rid of it was CM7, using the clear function. Can anyone help?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Voicemail notifications come from your carrier, not the phone, so there's nothing you can do on the phone to get rid of it. So basically, there's no need to go flashing your phone to try and get rid, despite the fact that you already have!
You could try ringing your voicemail, make sure the message has been listened to (and deleted if relevant), and then maybe check your voicemail settings. Find the notification settings in the menu and see what options you have.

Mind sharing what you did to fix it? I am having an identical problem, and I am beating my head against a wall
I have tried thus far:
- Called it from a land line and left a new message, then deleted it
- Had my carrier reset my voicemail
- Had my carrier remove voicemail service completely
- Power cycled the phone, and pulled the battery
