[Q] Internet pass through for TouchPad? - TouchPad General

Hi guys, is there a way to pass through internet from a pc to the TouchPad?
Thanks.

that is more a question for your pc than for the TP.

So the TouchPad would read the internet data from a usb port?
Has anyone tried this and what software on the pc have you used? Thanks.

one bump but not looking hopeful

yes, it is called wireless router

Using a program called Connectify. Not via USB walkthrough but does create a infrastructure hotspot usable by touchpad. A bit convoluted but since touchpad will not recognize ad-hoc connections I've tethered my laptop to iphone, then used connectify to get touchpad on line.

Thanks for the reply. Everythings wired at my desk and mobile phone reception is 0-1 bars usually

Try that Connectify program. It will use your wired broadband connection on the desktop and make a hotspot that the Touchpad will connect to. It's got a free version that'll do what you need.

Thanks will check it out. When you say hotspot it sounds like wireless hotspot rather than usb? In that case there is nothing wireless on the pc....

Er, oops. Yeah, I guess it would need a wireless adapter to broadcast the hotspot! I was using this on my desktop with a wired internet connection so I assumed that we were in the same boat. Forgot I had a wireless card in it as well. My apologies.

[Q] Want to share PC DSL connection with my Vibrant. How can I do it?

Hi Guys. Need a little help.
Scenario: I have a wired ADSL connection in my home for internet. I have Windows 7 on my PC installed. I have a TP-Link TL-WN321G WiFi card in my PC as well.
Now, I want to share my PC's ADSL connection with my Vibrant through my WiFi card.
So far, I have failed to achieve it. I have tried doing it the TP-Link way by establishing a Soft AP through a software provided by them, but no success. I have tried connectify, no luck here either. My vibrant detects the network but never connects to it...
Any help, what so ever will be really appreciated...
Easiest way, get a $30 router at your local store. Will save you a headache. Otherwise bridge your wired and wireless connection using windows.

Well what you will need to do is allow ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on the wired NIC card and allow other users to share the connection. It should DHCP the wired NIC and assign your wireless card an IP address like 192.168.137.1 and Subnet of 255.255.255.0.
Actually I don't want to buy a new router, want to use my WiFi card. And it is possible through it, so I think I should not spend money on a router...
I have tried everything... ICS is not working... Connectify is not working either...
There is some way of doing it through Adhoc network, I read somewhere but I have also read that Adhoc network is not supported in Android...
If someone can help, that would be great...
Odd because I'm doing ICS via Windows 7 and mine works perfectly..
***Edit...you might have to add in the default gateway ip and primary dns server ip on the wireless card for it to look for your wired NIC
just right click on your wired NIC and go to status and then details
Hmm... I am going to try this but do I share the internet with my WiFi card or the Virtual WiFi Miniport?
You share the wired NIC "allow other users to connect " it will act as your DHCP server and assign an address to your wireless card
Nothing is happening for me...
My Vibrant detects the WiFi AP but does not connect to it... It evens show the signal strength to be "Excellent" but does not connect to it...
Man... Its really frustrating when you can not get something to work...
So it just wont connect period?? Not even to network? Or will it connect and just no internet.... Hmmmmm
It just wont connect. Period...
Thanks for your willingness to help though...
Google "set up adhoc windows 7" to get your wireless set up properly, then should be easy. Keep it simple at first. Broadcast ssid and one you will recognize, and no password to eliminate any problems. Once configured and workinggo back and set up a password.

I have tried this Ad Hoc connection as well but I have read somewhere that Android does not support Ad Hoc connection. If there is some way around, please do tell me...
Finally... Got it working guys...

Followed it and it just worked...
Man, I am relieved...

Internet via bluetooth

Does anyone know if it's possible to get internet from my computer to the vibrant via bluetooth? To be clear, I do NOT want 2G/3G on my computer, I want to share my LAN connection with my phone. I'm deployed to Iraq and I have a wired connection to my computer that I want to share with my phone. I've tried connectify and similar options but they don't seem to work. I've got XP and 7 on the laptop, so if there's an option for either it'll work.
Thanks in advance.
Using bluetooth would be slow. You'll want to create an adhoc wireless network on your computer. Here's how to in XP:

Edit: This is, if you have wireless on your computer.

Go to settings -> Wireless and network -> Tethering and portable hotspot -> Then select "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings" - From this you can set up a Wi-Fi network that uses your mobile internet.
Once you've set this up connect to the wireless network via your laptop and launch the app called "Kies air". From there you can transfer files without the need of the usb connector...
To use DLNA you need a wireless network, i wouldn't recommend using the portable Wi-Fi hotspot for it.
Thank you very much Stylee32 this helps
hope i will get my WiFi router soon
Edit: I tried this solution. Got my PC connected to Mobile. But the url which Kies Air gave didnt work
Edit 2: Finally it worked. Thank you so much
No problem at all, glad i could help

[Q] Problem connecting from laptop with 802.11g to SGS2 in wireless tether mode

Hi, I've searched the forums for similar questions and didn't find anything.
I have a laptop that can connect only in 802.11b & 802.11g. When I run wireless tethering in my phone (enabling ap in wireless connections because I have the stock firmware), my laptop can't find the access point. It looks like the phone is using 802.11n by default when doing the wireless tether, preventing my laptop from connecting. If instead of using the built-in wireless adapter of my laptop, I use a wifi usb stick with 802.11n, I can connect without problems. I would like not having to use the stick, though.
How can I disable 802.11n when doing wireless tether in my phone?.
Maybe I have to download an app from the market in order to instruct my phone in doing the wireless tether in g mode?
Thanks in advance.
No one has an answer?

Question Sharing Easy Tether connection on linux

Just got easy tether on my n200 today, i plan on tethering it to my linux pc and setting up a wireless access point on that pc, through which all my devices will connect to the internet.
On my old Galaxy Note 3, I was able to do this easily, as I could simply use the regular tethering option then create a hotspot connection on linux. I could get faster speeds just by changing the TTL to 65 on the tethered pc. On these newer phones, however, it's much harder to bypass carrier tether throttling, so I have to use easy tether instead.
I'm not 100% sure how it works, but its different from regular usb tethering, as a result i'm unable to create the standard hotspot connection in linux. Also tried sharing internet on Windows, but it says that I'm not connected to the internet. Any ideas on how to do this?
