Yes it works on any Rom but I really recommend the latest las venturax kernel. Look in the las venturas thread in the second post

I was just wondering if you flash a new ROM is it necessary to flash a kernel right after? I just recently flashed the ICS port on my Nexus S and I was wondering if I have to flash my kernel again. Thanks
No, you do not have to flash a kernel after flashing a rom. Plus, using that rom (which is in its very early stages), it's not recommended that you flash anything on it.

Easiest way to root is to flash a rooted kernel, such as CF-Root kernel.
Here is the thread => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399&highlight=CF+Root
In Post #8 you will find CF-Root-SGS2_XW_NEE_LPG-v5.5-CWM5.zip which will work fine for your ROM.
Just download this kernel and flash it with Odin to your phone - as described in the first post.
If you want to remove the yellow triangle and reset the flash counter after flashing the CF-Root kernel, just use TriangleAway app from Chainfire (there is a link to it in the first post).
Good luck !

is it poosible to go to previous kernal after rooting?
also if you are planning to use other carrier make sure you have an unlock phone. If not, go to PLay Store and download Galaxy S2 unlock app.
You mean stock kernel? Yes, but only by flashing stock Samsung firmware.

That's not true. You can just flash the stock kernel without flashing the entire firmware.

+1, kernel is independent of rom, u can always flash the same without any issue as long as its compatible

Download a stock kernel, flash it in Odin. Not rocket surgery. You got your hand held on the first page & a half of this thread, time for you to do some reading/learning on your own; Stickies.

Here you go!
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/35239?tstart=0
Flash the right firmware and the kernel will also get flashed in the process!
So,that means i don't have to flash any kernel?
I read on other sites if i have stock ics then have to flash stock kernel for gb,what should i doo then?
I don't want to brick my precious
When you download .ftf file (those ones provided on the above link) you are flashing kernel + rom - in this case all official (stock) so no worries
You can do it via flash tool - it is very easy
Thanks guys for your quick answer and help:thumbup:
I'll be back(after flashing gb)!
It's done, thank you guys!

No one can help you without a proper info:
What's your hboot
What's the ROM that you have
What's the kernel that you flashed
Give details and someone will help you ... I will help when I have time as I have to go now ... I'll be online again in next 6 hours.

That's the problem .. you flash ICS kernel for a JB ROM, it won't work.
ICS kernel is for ICS ROM, a JB kernel for a JB ROM regardless of hboot.
Grab the stock kernel here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40411922&postcount=1
Is everything okay
