my phone will not go into sleep mode, even with fresh install using RSDlite. Is there an app or can some make an app that will force sleep mode? My battery life is **** b/c of it.

There is an app called QuickBoot that might do what you are asking.
Agree!
Call me a n00b because I don't necessarily understand the programming required, but why can't I seem to find a program that simply lets me know what applications have 'wakelock' engaged and at least gives me their name so I can either kill or uninstall them? This has been a problem since android came to be. If I get a runaway app this thing will torch its battery in 4 hours. If not, it can last days (background data and network location off).
I would definitely request something such as this be developed!

Exchange your phone bro, there is no reason you shouldn't have already done this. You seem to be the only one experiencing this, that would tell me right off that I needed to exchange my phone!

Did it work ?
Not 100% sure yet just want to give it a couple more days then will let you know
So if the system is miscalibrated and doesn't charge all the way, how do you know when you have the battery 100% charged so you can run the program?
Edit: Never mind. I figured that out.
New question: If you do the complete discharge approach, do you leave the app on through the whole cycle or just turn it back on when the battery is just about dead and let it charge again?

Clear it out of your browser downloads and it should go away. Maybe a download that go stuck if you tried to download it from your phone.

Did you wipe before flashing? You should have... Go into Account and Sync and see if you have an error on any of your accounts. If not, go in an uncheck everything and then recheck and let it do its thing. That usually fixes it. I would also recommend doing this over wifi.
Maybe you did a nandroid and now your sd card is full?

clear cache and data from your download manager app and then reboot.
Thanks all for your suggestions. That is why I love this place. People are willing to jump in and help. Tried it all and still shows up. Guess it's time for another install. Maybe I will try the Beast.

Unfortunately, I am experiencing the same problems with the Skinny ROM so I know it must be a hardware issue. I guess I'll be heading into Sprint for my 3rd replacement Photon.
I actually live in the tropics of Florida!
thats not fun. well good luck and i hope your next phone is the winner. 3rd time is the charm right?
I actually am on my 3rd one also. took first one back bc it had some mms issue. second one I was right there in the store and noticed that they were trying to give me a new that already had a scratch. good thing i noticed it right there at the desk. so she pulled out a third one and that is the one i use today.
wear your lucky socks when you go to the sprint store! ha ha
If your using the Motorola clock widget then yea it froze on me. Time would be off had to remove widget and put it back on to get it to show right.....only started happening on new sbf.

My phone has been showing 1:54 pm for the last 20 minutes and I'm not using any Widgets. Time to reboot again!
Btw, when my clock is frozen, I can't type anything nor make any phone calls. I can't get a replacement fast enough!!!
That does sound like a defect

I'm traveling this week, so maybe I can get a replacement from a different part of the country. Maybe that will make the difference. My deepest desire is to join the "My Photon is PERFECT" club!
my photon has never done this, but my admiral has had the clock frozen before
I wonder what is causing this strange behavior, regardless if it is due to a hardware or software problem.

So looks pretty much what the company uses to make sure the phone is working properly.
The Retail Diagnostics is used in Sprint's Slate test. It is used to test the primary functions of the phone and make sure PRL and profile are up to date. Fortunately it is pretty harmless at this time. There would be no point in it checking for root because Sprint M&P does not care whether you are rooted or not.
Sweet! Will check it out.
thanks a lot!

You call this an apk. Well I don't know what it is but its not an apk like I'm used too. I opened the zip looking for the apk to install it on my phone and never found it. I tried to install by flashing thru recovery and that never worked. I guess I'm a real noob but how do you install it?

what ROM and Kernel are you using? checked OC settings? any additional apps running in the background without your knowledge? any recent apps you have installed?

I'm using Stock ICS 4.0.4
I'm not sure what you mean by Kernel as I'm new to androids, was an iOS user ..
How to check if apps are running without my knowledge?
Yes there are many apps I recenly got!
Get better battery stats from the play store, and let it run for a charge cycle.
Also turn off all the silly Samsung stuff like face awake etc etc
Does a reboot help?

a sign that some hungry app is churning away in the background, that's why I suggested bbs to help find the cause.
This kind of thing is nearly always a rogue process, just a matter of getting to know your new os and learning its ins and outs

This is a serious problem...
BBS says that gpsd is using a lot as a process, so I disabled that before I sleep.
OK so now I wiped data and cache and installed CM9 stable release.
I want to know what you mean by kernel and how to install custom kernel
Thanks again.

Hi.
I had the same problem with one SGS3 from two I bought.
The one worked fine, but the second restart twice and more a day. I changed it in the shop. But the problem was still there. The akku was hot and after 2 hours without any input the akku was 0%.
I changed the phone the second time in the shop.
But also this device had the problems, sometimes the phone doesn't see the akku.
Then I had the idea, I looked into the device pressed the akku with my thumbnail and the akku worked.
With a little paper I fix the akku and everything is fine until today.
