TGF's theme-patch-mod thing-a-ma-doo (update: 10th Oct) - Legend Themes and Apps

I am not responible for what YOU do to YOUR phone!
This is ONLY for CM7.1 Stable. Any other version will probably not work, and if you try you'll get no support from me
What this is
A patched SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk in flashable zip format
Features:
Status bar allows transparency in themes that support it (check out Meizu - it's the theme I'm using in the screenshots, all credit to ZduneX25)
Clock in status bar is centred
Date in status bar is centred
Blur behind power menu is removed (this makes it slightly faster)
Lockscreen padding removed, everything is a little higher up
Tablet Tweaks are enabled
Semi-transparent background to lockscreen music controls
And that's it (I think)
Enjoy! And if people like this I'll update every now and again
Notes:
I still haven't got the hang of signing things yet, so you'll need to use CWM to flash
You do NOT need to deodex your ROM. I repeat, absolutely NO deodexing is needed.
Good question from maxq1 regarding deodexed version of these nightlies: yes, these DO work on deodexed versions

============
Changelog:
1st Sept: initial release
11th Sept: fixed clock being in the way, re-aligned clock in lense lockscreen
19th Sept: updated for nightly 195, enabled tablet tweaks (in theory, the settings aren't showing for me right now, I'll look into it)
19th Sept: r2 should actually make the status bar transparent this time. *looks meek*
19th Sept: r3 fixes the issues with tablet tweaks.
10th Oct: Updated for CM7.1 Stable, feature list has changed a little. BG added to lockscreen music controls, the lockscreen text is no longer resized.

Niiiice. Will have to definitely try this once I come home from vacation and move from Sense > stock.

Alright, that clock is pretty annoying. I don't want to turn it off, otherwise I lose my source of time. But every time I get a notification with a really long message, say a text, or some tweets, it overlaps the clock and the content in the middle is pretty much unreadable.
As for the transparent status bar, I do have one issue. This is my first time using a transparent status bar enabled ROM (I think that's right), and every time I pull it down, a bar of black also gets pulled down behind the status bar itself, showing transparency to...nothing. Dunno if that's supposed to happen.
First screenshot shows both issues, second shows the second issue when the notification bar is partially down.

Oooh, forgot to update here Sorry.
I've worked out solutions to the clock thing (and a few other issues besides). The background behind the status bar is gonna be like that, nothing I can do to change it. I'll upload a fix when I have time (I literally only have 5 mins now), so check back in about 24 hours (ages, I know, but I really don't have time for anything today)

It really doesn't matter. Having that sort of dedication = my respect.
My convenience however...
Joking, take your time. Sort out whatever's up first.

Update
Ok, the clock should be fixed, and I aligned the clock in the lense lockscreen correctly (moving the rotary lockscreen down screwed things up a little)
Download's in the OP

It definitely works great with Moto theme (I applied it last night). Thank you so much!

er..what if i'm already on a deodex'd rom? will this still work? if not, & if you could be so kind, what part of framework.res was modified? TIA...

It'll work on a deodexed ROM too

I was thinking of updating this for the latest nightly, but I've changed my mind about the centred clock. I much prefer having the signal icons in the centre, like this:
Do people like that? Shall I make a version with the same features as before as well?

I think I'd prefer the centered clock.. I'm used to it now xD

Updated, there're still a few kinks to work out though. I'll get to them in the next few hours, stay tuned
If the status bar still won't go transparent then use ADB or Root Explorer to delete /system/app/SystemUI.odex
EDIT:
Check the OP, r3 is live

do you know how to get this mods on the new sense rom?
i've tried the patcher a few weeks ago but it didn't do anything..

Send me the framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk and I'll take a look. I do all my edits manually, because it's easier. If the ROM is odexed I won't be able to enable transparency in the status bar though

i'm currently using rc4 and i hope i took the right ones lol
dont you need the com.htc.resources.apk?
if you get it working it would be nice to write a short howto, that i could do it the next time by myself

Sure thing. And yes, I forgot about the com.htc.resources.apk. Can I have that too pl0x It's been a long time since I last modded a Sense ROM.
What exactly do you want doing? Some of the features mentioned in the OP won't work here

transparent statusbar (like this would be great http://zdune.mod2xtreme.com/images/sneak_t.png ) and centred date&clock.
com.htc.resources.apk
got 2 times error while uploading here on xda...

The code I know for getting the status bar transparent seems to be non-existant in Sense ROMs, so my only guess is switching the .9.pngs out and seeing what happens. Open up ZDune's theme, I'm sure you'll work out how the naming works Here's a SystemUI with the clock and date centred

Thanks for that, i'll try later. ([email protected] )
Edit: i have the clock now 2 times in the status bar, once in the middle and once on the right...

It seems it doesn't work for me. What I do:
1. Reboot in CWM (5.x), wipe cache
2. Flash nightly 195 (no wipe before)
3. Flash this mod
4. Flash SDcard speed, Data2Ext4, and 130 LCD density zips
5. Reboot
After these steps I have no status bar at all. I'm not using Meizu since I couldn't get it installed (it says "Instalation aborted" when trying to flash it), I'm using Rover Cyan theme.
Is there anything else I should do to have it installed?

This is a mod created for MIUI and I just modified it for the fascinate. When flashed over the rom, an app is installed that lets you change a number of status bar options that include...clock placement, hide clock, hide am/pm, clock color, hide carrier text, have your own words instead of carrier text, carrier text color, have a carrier emblem, change battery bar color, swap carrier text to right, and swap icons to left, hide alarm icon, option to lock homescreen wallpaper, option to autoclose folders or not after opening, etc. Its a very cool mod that makes MIUI even more awesome.
Heres a link to the creator of the mods thread...
http://forums.miuiandroid.com/showthread.php?7738-MOD-Extended-Settings-Menu-Options
After installing there is a new app you will see called miui control, with the icon being a green android. Inside that app is where all the settings are. The google logo that appears in the top corner of the status bar is a carrier logo option that can be turned off. There are also new settings under settings/launcher.
Damnit. Tempt me to re flash MIUI again. Thanks as always RickS.

Crap...So I'm having FC hell with the launcher because I installed an app... I think someone said add an extra screen and it won't happen anymore?
EDIT: Didn't work. So, anytime a new icon gets added to the launcher it will FC. I will have to long hold search and go into settings and manage apps and delete the application.
EDIT#2: Fixed. You have to move your icons and widgets out of where the dock would originally be. I basically moved everything to the middle to be safe. Works fine and installs apps now.
Sorry you had that little bit of trouble...that's what I meant when I said that you had to move all apps from dock before flashing mod...I should have maybe said anything in the docks way...but anyway, what do you think of the mod? I'm hooked on this setup for now.
By the way, after you flash the mod you can put whatever you want where the dock would have of originally went. If you are going to install the original launcher again, make sure to move everything back from the dock area so you don't get fc's.

Yeah... I should've thought ahead when you install more apps =p. Took me a second.
I think the mod is incredible. I literally can't run MIUI without both of these mods anymore. Amazing man! I appreciate your time on doing this for us Fassy users since the originals won't work correctly.
Adding a screencap as well.
Alright so I keep running into a reoccuring issue with this mod and beginning to wonder if either I am missing something or if my phone just doesnt like it. Every time I install this I get no reception and get the flashing triangle where my reception bars should be. Anyone have any ideas? /:

If you install the original mod from the original creator this will happen. To have the overscoll glow options, he modifies the framework.jar which isn't working right for the fascinate. Im looking into fixing this though. That's why I posted modified versions for the fascinate. Also, it's best not to flash another version of the mod on a different version of MIUI... ex extended settings mod v1.9.16 over MIUI 1.10.7.

Yea I'll try getting around to it. I need to fix two issues with red and blue monkey first.
Nice theme Jivy good job on all the ports to Unnamed ROM. On the Airplane mode icon are you holding out to see if he updates to use the Vol/Vibe mode? Also will the dialer and calc expand if I change the dpi to 200?

No his theme used sound instead of airplane mode. I'm out of town until Sunday and didn't have time to build the airplane icon, but the sgs2 needed more themes so figured I'd overlook it until Sunday when I got back.
Doesn't support anything other than stock dpi at this moment.
Updated toggle menu support for UnNamed Rom. Also fixed airplane issue
Great job on adding the scrollable toggles into the theme, love that option. Installed and the only issue I am having is with contacts. Not sure yet if it is a dpi issue (I am putting it back to 240 and let you know if any change). But the contacts bar at the top is crashing everytime I try to use it. I am getting a message that I have attached and wondering if you or anyone else is seeing this too?

UnNamed version 1.03...I tried a changing the DPI back to 240 and still the same thing. I think I am going to re-flash things again and see if it corrects the issue. I will update with results/solution that I used or came up with.
A re-flash seems to have cleaned up any garbage I might have had with doing things last night (late and half asleep). Probably all my doing when I was working on it and not being "Fully" coherent while working on the phone last night. Note to all...A good nights sleep and a fresh start the next day will probably prevent most mistakes made and a number of erroneous posts later...Sorry Jivy for mucking up the thread.

Works here. Looks better, IMHO.
One difference when I did it was that I didn't lose my wallpaper, (using a live wallpaper), and it didn't change until I shut down and restarted the tab.

That's why you back up the original apk. You could adb into the device and rename the files and reboot your device if you have to.

Well yeah I knew the back up was important for reverting and such but I didn't know you could use adb if the Prime was in a boot loop from the system UI not working properly... hmmm Shweet. Thanks for the quick response

That's actually what's happened in the ICS root implementation...the TFP is in a boot loop, but adb still communicates.
nice thanks going to do this tonight
now if you could just make the color of the click customizable or get rid of the pesky notification for an sd card
I was also going to add a circle battery mod
as well but just as i thought it did not have the accurate battery (1% increments) on the system bar.

[MOD][VZW Edition] Add Wifi toggle to your status bar + more custom status bars LJB

Another easy mod for you guys.
This is only for Verizon Stock with root injected
4.1.1
Build: JRO03C.I605VRALJB
Steps:
1) Please mount your system as read/write, extract the files in the attached zip file, and copy:
SystemUI.apk to /system/app
Make sure you are actually replacing the old file and not renaming it
2) Then reboot.
I included the original SystemUI.apk in the zip as a backup just in case.

Other Customized Versions:
Wi-Fi toggle, removed eGPS icon, and removed alarm icon
From sleevasteve - here is a dropbox link. Includes Wi-Fi toggle, removed eGPS icon, and removed alarm icon(will be a blank spot visible if you have silent/vibrate on, as well as an alarm enabled).

Wi-Fi toggle, black status bar
see attachment
Wi-Fi toggle, black status bar, stripped version
From sleevasteve - Here is a stripped version of the SystemUI.apk. Includes: Wi-Fi toggle, black status bar. Removed Icons: eGPS, Alarm, Battery, Bluetooth, Silent and Vibrate. I removed the battery icon, but you can enable battery % under display. And removing the Bluetooth, silent and vibrate indicators not only cleaned it up, but now you don't see a gap where the alarm icon was, when going into those modes. Tried to get rid of the ime indicator/switcher, but there must be another one hiding in there somewhere.

***Be sure to REMOVE the word "Stripped" from the file name, before pushing to system/app! The file name should just read: SystemUI.apk (sorry for the inconvenience, had to differentiate them on my phone, and on dropbox)
Black Status Bar, Wifi Toggle and eGPS(removed)

I'm not sure... although I think Verizon has more to do with the features missing than Samsung.
Works perfect thanks!
BTW in the Note 2 general forum, someone else is modifying system ui to take out the eGPS icon and battery icon. Would be cool to see you guys combine these so we can have both
Many many thanks to you my friend!

The systemui apk in the first post has a black background. Sorry to mislead anyone with my post about a white bar
I think the stock SystemUI is dark gray original color, it would be nice if it was black. Thanks for replaying back.

Success for me....
why is the file like almost a meg smaller?
This worked perfect for me!
Thanks hairdewx!
thanks for you work :good: ETA on the white status bar?
Thanks it worked for me as well....not sure if this happened to everyone, but the phone locked up right after i replaced the apk file. A battery pull and reboot and everything is well and good. I would assume this is normal behavior since the actual touchwiz UI was replaced while it was running. Just to warn anyone who might freak out when things go wonky.

Thanks for the mod! Now if only we could get rid of that nag in the notification drawer.
I might have been the one you were talking about that was discussing removing the eGPS icon, and I was also able to remove the alarm icon using the same methods. I downloaded hairdewx's zip (with the added Wi-Fi toggle) and removed the alarm and eGPS icon from it for my own personal use, but I'd be happy to post the systemUI with combined mods if anyone wants it(and if I get permission from OP). I just don't want to step on anyone's toes, I'm far from a developer.

You using ADB or root explorer? I replaced the file and the phone locked up, give it a minute and it will respond. I don't like pulling the battery unless absolutely necessary.
BTW, any chance of removing the stupid ongoing Wi-Fi off notification, or am I missing a setting here to toggle this?
Thanks! Works awesome. Also would love a black notification bar.

Anyway to take some of those less used out of the Status Bar? Driving mode for example.

[MOD][Xposed][Sense6][Feb 18] Stock battery with percentage [4.x - 6.0]

A very simple mod I threw together to replace the stock Sense 6 battery images with ones that have a numeric percentage embedded. This module will most likely only work on HTC devices running Sense 6 (m7, m8, etc), but might work on older devices running Sense 5/5.5 as HTC hasn't changed their battery image resource names in a while.

v1.4.1
Install steps:
Make sure you have the latest Xposed Framework installed (ARHD offers it in the AROMA installer).
Make sure you enable the app_process from within Xposed Installer and reboot
Install attached apk, just like you would any other apk
Enable module in Xposed Installer and either reboot, or restart the shell (adb shell 'stop;start' or Soft reboot)
Enjoy
If you'd rather customize (or have the ability to) the entire statusbar, check out my other module here.
For those running XSBM, I've put together an iconpack with this battery set here.
Also available in the Xposed Repo
Thanks to @jsmith8858 for the excellent BatteryIconMaker tool. It makes generating images so much easier/faster!
Changelog
1.1
Increased percent numbers to 22pt, removed bold to enhance readability
1.2
Added gray fill to battery background to make numbers more visible on light and dark backgrounds
1.3
Increased font size to 27pt, and all numbers are black. Should be very visible now on all backgrounds except pure white.
1.4
Battery icons provided by @brianhill1980 - numbers are outlined with transparent background
1.4.1
Now with larger numbers and more defined outline
1.5.0 - Only for LP roms!
First release with LP support. Follow install instructions below!
Install instructions for 1.5.0 on Lollipop roms (tested on MaximusHD 50):
Remove any prior installs of Sense 6 Battery Percent
Make sure you have a working install of Xposed Framework (XposedBridge v61) and Xposed Installer v3.0 Alpha 1. If you have not figured out how to do this, please see the official Xposed for Lollipop thread
Install the Sense6BatteryPercent_v1.5.0.apk, but do not reboot yet
Once the notification of a new module has shown up, go to Xposed Installer->Modules and enable Sense 6 Battery Percent
Tap on the Sense 6 Battery Percent list entry to open the "preferences" activity. There aren't actually any preferences, but I'm using that activity to unpack the images
Tap on the Unpack and Hide Launcher button, which will unpack the battery images and hide this specific launcher
Go back to Xposed Installer->Framework and either pick Soft Reboot or Reboot
I had issues forwarding resources from my module's assets, so I worked around it by creating a scaled-down version of XSBM for just the battery images in this module. It seems to work ok, but definitely not the cleanest approach. If/when this gets resolved in the framework (or I figure out how to do it correctly), I'll rewrite this module. Also, I tested the module with SElinux both enforcing and permissive, and it seems to function regardless.
Hi is it possible to make the percentage size a bit bigger as i find it quite small and difficult to make out what it says?

Don't have the time to hand-edit 100+ images to change the font size. I use the BatteryIconMaker utility to do the numbers and battery background generation, and then combine them with ImageMagick scripts. It takes a few minutes this way, instead of hours/days the other way.
New version on OP has larger (and easier to read) numbers now.
Hey op thank you for this mod. I thought I was never gonna get to have percent stock battery on stock rom lol...also thanks for the update enlarging percentage. Anyway you could change the percent color to something besides black? Maybe grey. Reason is once any app is launched and battery is below certain percent and status bar is no longer transparent you can only see one of the two digits if that makes any sense lol. Made much better sense in my head

Hmm, that is a problem. I'll play around with the colors and see if I can come up with something that looks ok on both light and dark backgrounds.
Updated version on OP. Let me know if that helps with number visibility.

Still too small? How high should the numbers be on the inside of the battery outline? Should they extend past the fill bar and into the gap?
Last attempt for the day at making the numbers more legible. OP updated.
Last version is perfection

This is exactly what I was looking for. Just putting percentage numbers inside the stock battery.
Any chance you could just make the numbers an alpha knockout with a white outline instead of solid black? Solid black looks so harsh compared to the rest of the Sense 6 statusbar icon theme.
Here's a quick Photoshop sample of what I mean:

Not unless someone can provide me with all the battery images that are premade with the alpha knockout. I use the BatteryIconMaker utility to generate the numbers and background fill. It can't do what you're asking though.
