I did this basic setup for my woot acquired GTAB. The primary reason was to keep the stock ROM but get the fully functional Android Market. I wanted to give these instructions out to real newbies who may want to do the bare minimum to keep their TAB up and running with all apps and without doing a flash with custom ROM. I wanted to include a more step by step for people who are less tech savvy so please bear with the details if you are a tech guy.
1. Get the Over The Air update to update to 3588. The OTA push happens automatically if you have connectivity (wifi is setup). You can also check it via the updates app that should have come with the stock ROM.
2. Download the enhancement pack - TnT Enhancement Pack v3.1.4b file from http://www.megaupload.com/?d=74HGJNEL to your desktop or laptop. The file name should be TnT_Enhancement_3389_v3_1_4b.rar
3. Try opening the file using winzip or any zip program. If it doesn't install winrar version available at http://www.win-rar.com/download.html.
4. Extract contents to a local folder on your computer using the zip/ winrar program. It has files update.zip, a recover folder that contains a command file
5. Connect your TAB to the computer with the min-usb cable and activate the usb transfer (I think it comes up with that option)
6. GTAB should show up as another drive in your system. With windows explorer browse this drive to locate the "sdcard" folder.
7. Copy the update.zip and recover (containing command file) folder from the location you extracted on your computer (step 4) into the sdcard folder identified on step 6.
8. Power off
9. Power on by pressing and holding the volume + button and the power button simultaneously.
10. The TAB should show a open box screen in a few seconds and after some time should turn back on to the main screen with new apps installed. You should see the market apps icon as well
11. Do the market fix remedy to see all applications in the market by steps below. I added an alternate market fix (if you don't see all apps)
a) Run market
b) Open settings->applications->system applications
c) Force close Google Services Framework, then Force Close Market
d Go back to Google Services Framework, then clear data
e) Run market and confirm you get an error
f) Reboot
g) Wait 2 minutes and try Market to get all applications
h) If this doesn't work, look at the directions again and make sure you follow them exactly
Alternate market fix Steps - I haven't tested this but looks like a few extra steps (You need Titanium Backup installed and have opened Market and surfed around a bit. Thanks to blackjaguar who pointed to this)
1. Settings->Applications->System applications->Market then Clear Cache (if any) then Force Stop
2. Go back one and then Google Services Framework then clear data then Force Stop
3. Go to home and open Titanium Backup
4. Select Backup/Restore tab
5. Select Google Services Framework
6. Select Wipe Data
7. Go to home and open market (it will error and close)
8. Reboot your tablet
9. Open Market and you will have full market

I just got my gtab from woot and basically wanted the same thing you did: the stock gtab plus the market. I followed your directions after spending the last week reading the massive amounts of posts on this forum. The only thing I did differently was installing CWM between steps 1 and 2, and repartitioning to the recommended 2048/0. It seemed like most people end up having to do that at some point. Your market fix however, didn't work at all for me. There's another fix posted by tsm26 that worked great for me. Its slightly different:

The only app I still can't find in the market is Firefox, but luckily its available from ftp.mozilla.org.
EDIT: Just got the acore process problem, and had no contacts or /data/data folder at all. Used this fix and the problem is gone. Looks like it works for TnT Enhanced as well:

Step 6 confused?
Just received my gtab and following your steps to install this upgrade, however after connecting gtab to laptop I see 4 folders at the root of "E:" when browsing through windows. I assume that "E:" is the sdcard directory and these folders are located in it. The folders I can see in this directory under the windows "E:" drive are - .android_secure, Android, DCIM & LOST.DIR. However if I browse to the "sdcard" folder using the file explorer on my gtab I don't see the .android_secure folder, but do see a folder called "update.zip", that I don't see when browsing the "E:" drive in windows. Now I am really confused? Do I delete or rename the "update.zip" directory currently residing in the "sdcard" directory on the gtab and then copy over the recover and update.zip folders that I just downloaded?
My tap ui version is 1.1-3389.
Are there any suggestions?
I think you need to disable the USB sharing and you will see the files.
This worked like a charm. I decided not to root and mod, at least for now, so getting the market is great. I didn't show the sdcard directory, but I had update and an empty recovery directory, so I just replaced them (after copying the old update.zip). It wiped out the photos and videos apps on my main screen, but I found some interesting replacements. And the market fix worked great too.
But I still can't find Words With Friends... Just checked the market from my laptop and it thinks it's not compatible with my device. Oh well.
I followed the instructions to the T and the market wont work... someone please help!!!!!
The first set of instructions did not work for me, but the alternate set did work. I now appear to have a full market. Awesome!
Just for the record, I am running the stock ROM updated to the latest VS release.
EDIT: Whoops, spoke too soon. No apps will download from the Market. When I try to download a free app, I get a "Starting download..." message but that's it. I'm also doing this at work... I think port 5228 might be blocked. Is this the reason? I will attempt from home tonight...

I've gotten to this point, but how long is some time, it has never turned back on to the main screen and now really won't boot at all, just goes to a blank screen and sit there.
Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated! Hope I haven't done something terribly wrong!

Maybe I spoke too soon. Doing the market fix got me a lot more on the market, but there's still a lot of apps that I can't get. So many devs put their apps in market and nowhere else. Don't they realize that this is not itunes? (BTW, I've hit web sites that send me to itunes to download their apps...) How many other devices has google not approved for the market and are stuck like this? Even Firefox is undownloadable on my Android. Is that really the market fix or should I be able to access more?

OK, new theory. Apparently I had to do the market fix twice. I also followed the video on this post:

That's not the gtab, so it looks a little different in the menus, but the steps still worked. I guess it threw in an extra step of clearing cache on market and force stopping it before stopping google services framework. Well, Firefox doesn't show up in market, but so far everything else does. Now I have to try to remember everything I've been trying to download.
I had to do the Market fix twice, but that was no sweat.

Everything is working great using this Enhancement Pack and Market Fix. My question is whether my gTab is still considered stock with these changes? The forum messages about the new firmware update all caution against applying it if you are running an alternate firmware from 3588. I don't know if I am under the Enhancement Pack and Market Fix scenario or not.
no sdcard - help please
Hello all, found this post and as a complete newbie I was excited to see what the GTAB could be transformed into. Not quite ready for custom ROMS so I figured I'd start with Clockworkmod and trying to install the standard android market.
Problem is when I hook up my gtab I don't see an "sdcard" folder... Anybody have any ideas why that would be? How do I work around it?
I have the following folders:

SDCARD is the folder that is mounted on your computer when you connect via USB. The list above are the contents of your SDCARD.

Whenever I plug my phone in, set it to USB mass storage, it always sets back to Motorola phone portal with a little roll back icon in the menu bar.
I need the USB mass storage to grab some files off my atrix. How do I fix this?
I was having a similar problem until I uninstalled Motorola Media Link.
close everything related to your phone. I had the same problem once and it turned out I had a cmd window open with adb commands that had been previously run on it. I'd close EVERYTHING related to your phone, restart the phone then start again.
Like someone previously mentioned about Media Link, if you right click the icon in the system tray, there is a menu in the pop-up that gives you the option of selecting what the device does by default when you connect it. By default, the option is set to Phone Portal, but you have the option of setting it to that, Mass Storage or None.
I'm not 100% certain that the second option is Mass Storage, but I know that it can be changed so that your phone won't default to Phone Portal. It should just be a matter of exiting Media Link rather than uninstalling it that or merely changing your settings in it.
I think he means the glitch where no matter what you choose on the phone itself, it will always default back to the phone portal option before it mounts the SD card as a usable USB device in Windows Explorer.
I suppose that's possible, but without being more specific, the problem could be resolved by changing the MediaLink settings. Obviously, if the problem is the one you are referring to, my suggestion would be irrelevant. =p
Anyone get PAW server working in place of Moto Phone Portal? Gawd it sucks!
1. You have to use IE or FF, which is cool because I already use FF, but when I click on File Manager it warns, "File Manager access supported on Internet Explorer only." WTF over they can't make up their minds?
2. I finally get File Manger working through IE of course and then it takes me to some DavWWWRoot web folder???
3. So I copy a couple music files - then go to the phone using Astro - find the files in my /mnt/sdcard/ folder - copy the files (won't let me cut or move) - find my "Music" folder deeper on the SD card - copy the files there - go back to the /mnt/sdcard/ folder and delete the now duplicate files.

I am able to get the native hotspot working on rooted JUUS06252012 and bypass the "dial 611" message. I'm posting this right now via wifi tethering, on a prepaid plan with a data package.
Before trying to get the native hotspot to work, I did try a few apps first. WiFi Tether for Root works in WPA mode (configured as Epic 4G Touch), but it broke wifi completely after tethering and wifi stayed broken even after a hard reboot. Logcat said a wifi driver file was locked and could not be loaded. I had to factory reset to get wifi working again. FoxFi seemed to work at first, but force closed whenever a client connected.
The mod: I found two values in settings.db to be modified. As we all know, there are many ways to update a sqlite database, but here is one easy way, keeping in mind that the Pantech Burst factory rom lacks many things like BusyBox or the commandline sqlite3. Yes, you need to be rooted:
1. Install Andsen's aShell and aSQLiteManager (not SQLiteManager).
2. Run aShell, check root, tap File Explorer, go to /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases, open settings.db, when prompted to open a copy, say yes and open with aSQLiteManager, tap table secure, tap data and tap "edit" for each of the below
softap_free_supported=1 (old value 0)
softap_entitlement_interval=0 (old value1440)
Then tap back twice. When prompted to commit changes, say yes and exit aShell.
3. Reboot and you can now use the native hotspot. Install a toggle widget for convenience.
*EDIT: with this mod, turning on hotspot from the 2nd level "Portable Wi-Fi hotspot settings" page works reliably, whereas turning it on from the 1st level "Tethering & portable hotspot" page would show the "dial 611" message. Many hotspot widgets work reliably as well, such as HotSpot Toggle, Hotspot Widget or many others.

Did that and my phone is now stuck on boot screen. Removing battery didn't help either
_lost can you check to see if your guide can be updated for the new ICS release? or atleast put a warning up to let people know not to try if they are running ICS on their Pantech Burst?
After a lot of trial and error I have this working on ICS. I tried the free apps first and at first I couldnt even get the change to take. When I did by copying the file editing it then replaceing it the system would just hang on boot. I did get it to work though after having to wipe my device a few times. Now this may still work with the free programs im not realy sure as I figured id give the paid ones a try and got it working. I used the program root explorer. I copied the settings.db and pasted the copy in the same folder. Then I edited the copy in SQLite editor although it still couldnt edit the original.. Then in root explorer I renamed the old file by adding an extension to the end and renamed the new file to replace the old one. Then in root explorer i double checked that the permissions were the same as the old file and also..... (I THINK THIS WAS THE IMPORTANT THING BY THE WAY) I checked the ownership settings in root explorer it was already set to "system" just like the old file. I think the other programs may have been changing the owner of the new file causing issues. Anyway after rebooting it started right up and I can turn on wifi hotspot from either menu. On gingerbread it only worked from the one menu. I hope this works for you guys!!!!!!

Hey thanks! This was the setting that did the trick for me on my Pantech Crossover (P8000). I had recently done the vendor upgrade to Gingerbread and lost root, but more importantly, SVTP's Wifi Hotspot & USB Tether Pro stopped working for me.
I rooted using pawaa's excellent guide and thought that would do the trip, but no such luck. Found this thread, bought SQLite Editor and made the aforementioned changes and all was well.
Guess I don't need SVTP anymore, but the widget works well, and I don't mind having paid for it for the month or so that it worked under Froyo. (Also, it was paid for out of my Nexus 7 $25 credit.) Anyways, just wanted to mention this in case anybody else was trying to get tethering working again on the Crossover after upgrading to 2.3.6.

I even updated to rooted JUUS06252012 but could not find ' /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases' folder in root . Please somebody help.:angel:

A simple method for switching on Tethering:
1. Install from market Secret Codes Revealer (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.afp_group.software)
2. Search Codes
3. List Codes
4. Tap on "softapactivation"
5. Launch code
6. Now we on SoftapHiddenMenu
7. Check on all checkboxes
8. Save
9. Reboot
10. Enjoy full tethering

I tried all of the methods above in ICS and none of them work. Not only do they not work, but if you try to edit the com.android.provider.settings AT&T will block your incoming calls, disable all notifications for messages, and break the home button. I was not able to find away to fix this without reflashing the ROM. I tried repairing the permissions but it did not help. I could not simply change the settings back since it seems AT&T's program did that for me and nonetheless deactivated me.
I can't get this to work either. My phone was purchased as an unlocked device, I didn't realize some things are still locked. :'(
I tried multiple times. I am running the stock (rooted) Android version 4.04 Baseband version JUUS09032012. Everything was setup fresh, all I did was root the device, get my Google account logged in and install the Superuser app, aShell and aSQLiteManager. I didn't stop, disable or uninstall any apps. Then followed the instructions here carefully.
I also tried the "Secret Codes Revealer" method with no luck. But I did not get any popups requesting root access when trying that method, so I can't imagine it doing anything.
I really love the phone - it is everything I want other than the tethering restriction. Hopefully this will be figured out before I am tempted by the new Nexus phone to be announced soon.
I used root browser to make a copy of the database file, edited it with asqlite, then went back to root browser and renamed the copy to the actual database. Then I booted into cwm and selected fix permissions and it works fine. That was the only way I could get it to work.

i face the same problem but i decided to try it one more time
here is what I done
i use a sqllite editor premium
do a backup of the files
i use the root explorer and copy the settings.db and paste in the same folder
after that i used sqlite editor and then settings.storage
after that i change the following values
softap_free_supported=1 (old value 0)
softap_entitlement_interval=0 (old value1440)

than sve it and replace the settings.db by deliting or renaming the original one
than change the settings -copy.db to the settings.db
and delete all the other files that exist in that folder except settings.db (delete .db-shm and .db-wal also)
or
replace all the files in the data/data/com.providers.settings/databases from the attachment
Just download the attachment from Post# 17 and use Root Explorer to overwrite/replace all the files in the data/data/com.providers.settings/databases from the attachment.
It works like Charm.

Ok, so I rooted the Huawei Ascend Y300, and with my new-found power i for some reason decided it was a good idea to delete the system UI...
So now the screen is just black, I can't access anything and it keeps coming up with "systemUI has stopped responding".
I tried downloading Huawei's official firmware from their website, and flashed the device, but whilst installing it said "update error" and wouldn't install it.
Any ideas on what I can do? Or have I broken it for good?
You have activated USB Debugging? If so, you need Android SDK, and the missing file (unpack the official firmware to find it), so you can copy it using adb (included in the Android SDK, tell me if you need more detailed info).

I had the USB Debugged, and just now i have sent nova launcher to the phone to get into it, but it's now telling me settings isn't installed and i cant access the task bar.
Also when i downloaded the pack from huawei, it just came with the file "UPDATE.APP"
Check if you can open the Update package using some program (winrar, 7zip), otherwise you'll need to search for the file.

Ok, so it won't let me open the file as a zip, and I'm not entirely sure what file I'm meant to be looking for. Am i looking for system UI because thats the one with the error? and if so how would i go around getting it on the device?
Do you know if theres a way to completely reinstall android onto the phone?

Sorry to confuse you lol oxymoronic happens to be talking about my phone anyways we think we have the problem nearly sorted but we now need a system UI APK file for the OS and we can find one any chance you know where to get one?
I hope this helps someone with a similar issue as the post is old.. I had deleted my xperia ui sometime back so each time the phone booted , it went to black with "Ui has stopped'. I could swipe down and go to settings.. Since i had formatted the phone before that there was no account linked to it.. I added my gmail account and sent myself a mail with nova launcher prime as an attachment.. As soon as the phone notified me of my mail, i downloaded the nova launcher apk and installed it.. Works fine now..

I SOLVED IT *****! HERE'S HOW I DID [email protected]@@
I accidentally deleted com.android.systemui on my phone. Version KitKat 4.4.2.
STEP 1. HAVE AN EXACT DUPLICATE OF THE PHONE READY. HAVE THE SAME PHONE READY. LUCKILY I HAD ANOTHER PHONE OF THE SAME MODEL. GO TO A PHONE SHOP OR SOMETHING.
IT WILL HAVE THE SAME com.android.systemui .
STEP 2. INSTALL NOVA LAUNCHER OR SOME SORT OF LAUNCHER ON THE PHONE MISSING THE FILE, SO YOU CAN LOAD THE PHONE AND BE ABLE TO SEE IT!
STEP 3. INSTALL TITANIUM BACKUP ON BOTH PHONES. ROOT IT AND USB DEBUG IT BEFOREHAND.
STEP 4. ON THE BACK UP PHONE, OPEN UP TITANIUM BACKUP AND CLICK ON BACKUP/RESTORE ON THE UPPER TABS AND GO TO com.android.systemui. BACK THE **** UP THE FILE.
STEP 5. CONNECT IT TO THE COMPUTER, AND GO TO YOUR PHONE AND COPY WHAT'S INSIDE THE "TitaniumBackup" FOLDER.
STEP 6. CONNECT THE ****ED UP PHONE TO YOUR COMPUTER AND PASTE THE CONTENTS OF "TitaniumBackup" FOLDER (WHICH ARE com.android.systemui FILES) IN THE ****ED UP PHONE'S "TitanumBackup" FOLDER.

MEGA 5.8 OWNERS
This mod has been tested on Mega 6.3 but it should work as well on Mega 5.8.
Follow the instructions, but DO NOT flash the Floating_Multi_Windows_I9200.zip since it's for the Mega 6.3 only.
If you want the full version on your Mega 5.8, upload your androidpolicy.jar and I'll mod it.
REQUIREMENTS
A rooted Mega I9200 or I9205 on JB 4.2.2, with a custom recovery (either CWM, or TWRP, or whatever) installed.
It works on both odexed and deodexed Roms, but odexed Roms will allow less features. It has been tested on XXUAMEE and I can't tell for sure whether it works on other Roms or not, but my guess is that it does. Please try and report (but don't forget to make a backup beforehands):silly:
MEGA 6.3 ON DEODEXED MJ2
DO NOT flash the Floating_Multi_Windows_I9200.zip attached here cuz it's not compatible with MJ2. Go to post #13, I've attached a MJ2 version there (it has been tested and it works, see post #14).
INSTALLATION
Using your favorite root browser navigate to /system/etc/permissions folder and find com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone.xml.
Rename it com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone.xml.bak (do not delete it, in case you want to revert back to static stock multi windows).
That's it for people on an odexed Rom, reboot. Now when you open an app you see an icon at the top right or at the top bottom, press it, the app switches to floating window view (I'll explain everything in a minute, let me finish this paragraph first).
For people on a deodexed Rom, flash in recovery the attached zip (if you are running MJ2 don't flash the zip attached here but the one in post #13), wipe cache and dalvik cache, reboot.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
As said above, now when you open an app you see an icon that enables you to switch to floating mode. In floating mode you see on the top bar a close, a maximize and a pin button, plus a minimize icon (for deodexed Roms only, the difference between odexed and deodexed Roms is that deodexed Roms get on top of the other features a minimize icon and a double tap feature while in floating mode).
The close and maximize icons speak by themselves. The pin button, press it, it becomes green and enables you to keep the floating window (s) allways on screen. With the pin button activated you can resize windows from the bottom, the left and the right.
Use the space between the pin and the other icons to drag and move the window to wherever it pleases you.
While in floating mode you can press the maximize icon, or double tap the center of the bar (deodexed Roms only), to get the window back to full screen mode.The minimize icon (deodexed Roms only) shrinks the window to a bar like on a computer.
Depending on your phone settings the Flash Bar may or may not work. If it still works then you can use it to launch apps directly in floating mode, and you don't need to have the pin activated to be able to rezise windows. What makes it work or not? Good question, when I first set up this mod on my phone it worked, but at one point it stopped and never came back. I have to investigate and well, you are free to investigate too, any help is highly appreciated...
Anyway, with or without Flash Bar you can have as many Floating Windows as you want, cool...:good:
YOU WANT TO GO BACK TO THE STOCK STATIC MULTI WINDOWS VIEWS?
No worries, just delete the .bak in the com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone.xml and reboot. If you flashed the zip don't bother, it won't harm your phone since the editing I made doesn't work when com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone.xml is active.
NOT ALL YOUR APPS DISPLAY IN FLOATING MODE?
The latest update (7 JULY 2014) takes care of that, just keep on reading
BUGS
1-When one changes screen orientation the floating windows are back to full screen size.
Solution:
change your phone's DPI. I changed mine to 195 and the bug is gone. Don't go below 193 as the systemui doesn't like it and would force close everytime the orientation changes.
2-Some apps that are natively multi windows enabled don't display nicely (they show a huge floating window). To tame them, one has to decompile the app, open res/values/dimens.xml and edit the app default and minimum sizes to have them to look as follows:
<dimen name="app_defaultsize_w">300.0dip</dimen>
<dimen name="app_defaultsize_h">200.0dip</dimen>
<dimen name="app_minimumsize_w">300.0dip</dimen>
<dimen name="app_minimumsize_h">200.0dip</dimen>
300 and 200 are the values I use but of course you can use other values that suit you better. The default size means the size the app has when it's opened in floating mode, and the minimum size means the smallest size you can resize/shrink it.
3-When an apk is minimized as a bar, if one opens a new apk and makes it float the first mimized apk has disappeared. It doesn't happen if two or more apks are open in floating mode and then minimized/maximized (I mean, in that case one can swith between minimize/maximize without loosing the other minimized apks), it happens only if a new apk is opened while one or more are minimized. I don't know if I explained it clearly but play a bit with the mod and you'll see what I mean...
Edit: 11 dec update (see below) more or less fixed this bug.
4-You tell me:cyclops:
UPDATE 11 DEC (Tested on deodexed I9200, but it should work for all 6.3 and 5.8 Mega models)
Today I decided to install the flash bar and some xmls permissions from the note 3, and see what would come out.
To my surprise it brought three interesting improvements.
1 - Multi instance, which means that one can open at the same time two or more windows of the same app (I could open up to 4 windows of the same app, not that I would really use it but just to say:cyclops.
Quite a handy feature if you want to compare two books, or two maps, or two pics or two whatever, but note that not all apps support multi instance, and note that for some apps one can't open two windows one after the other (one has to open one window of let's say app A, then app B, then one can open a second window of app A with the first app A still open).
2 - The disappearance of minimized bars is gone (still some random disappearing) when the windows are launched from the flash bar (but it still occurs when they are launched from somewhere else).
3 - The windows are resizable to a very small size, even smaller than the minimized bars (like 50x60, and don't need anymore to have the pin enabled to be resized.
No need to drag the apps from the flash bar, just touch them and they open in floating mode (set your prefered floating size with multi windows manager).
The 5 xmls files are attached below. This zip is not flashable, I did it intentionally in order one to know what files one pushes into one's phone, in case one day one wants to remove them. So you have to unzip first, and then manually copy the 5 xmls to your /system/etc/permissions folder, set perms to rw, r, r (644), reboot.
Careful!
One of these 5 files is called com.sec.feature.multiwindow.xml, and you may think that you already have it in your /system/etc/permissions folder. Well, you certainely have a file that has the same name, but it's not the same file (look at the weight). Rename your existing file com.sec.feature.multiwindow.xml.bak and then copy the new com.sec.feature.multiwindow.xml onto the folder.
A word about static stock multi windows
I tested these files in static stock multi windows (by renaming the com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone.xml.bak to com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone.xml, see above) and the multi instance works, plus there is a funky recent multi windows opened apps feature on the top of the flashbar, and a bookmark function on the bottom. Well, I found these features a bit wonky, but I didn't test too much so see by yourself if you feel like it.
Your flash bar doesn't show up, and you don't have the option anymore in your settings?
It's normal, it's because com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone.xml has been renamed com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone.xml.bak.
Rename it com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone.xml, reboot. Go to display in your settings, enable the flashbar. Check that it appears. Rename again com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone.xml to com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone.xml.bak, reboot, your flash bar is still there (Note that you don't have the option to enable/disable it in the settings. You can force stop it from the applications section in the settings, but in that case it won't restart until you reboot).
UPDATE
I found a way to have that multi windows option to show in the settings all the time.
Since it's a heavy file I didn't upload it (my internet connection is dreadful) but if someone wants it then I'll upload it.
I'm a bit busy at the moment and I didn't test all the new features extensively, but if you do and find some tricks or fine settings/improvments please report here. Thanks in advance.:silly:
UPDATE 21 DEC (tested on Mega 6.3 XXUAMEE but it should work on all 6.3 Roms, and probably 5.8's)
It's a two layouts mode, which means that you will have the ability to switch between dual and cascade mode at the press of a button.
Go to your system/app folder and rename FlashBarService.apk to FlashBarservice.apk.bak (in case you need to get back to it if the mod is not compatible with your rom).
Flash the 2LayoutsFlashbarServiceMega.zip, wipe cache and dalvik cache, reboot.
Now open your FlashBar (the bar from where you launch the multi windows) and look at the top, you'll see two icons. That's it, one is for cascade mode, and the other for dual mode. When you press one it turns green, which means that the mode is activated.
If some windows disappeared and you want them back, or if you had too many windows opened in dual mode and want to put everything in order, press the cascade icon and they'll open in cascade mode (but it only works if the apps were still active, if they had been closed it obviously doesn't work).
If the FlashBarService fc, it means that it's not compatible with your rom. In this case delete the FlashBarService.apk from your system/app, remove the .bak you put at the stock one, reboot. If you want it for your rom, upload here your FlashBarservice.apk and your framework-res.apk and I'll mod it to make it two layouts enabled.
UPDATE 7 JULY 2014 (tested on Mega 6.3 DDUCNB1, it should work on other 6.3 Roms but it won't work on Mega 5.8. If you want it for your rom upload your FlashBarService.apk, services.jar, framework-res.apk and I'll mod it)
Here is a mod to make all your apps floating multi windows compatible.
I know that there are some apps here and there that do the same job but the advantage of this mod is that:
1-it works without any third part app which means that you'll save some ram and some battery,
2-with third apps when you install a new app you have to reboot to have that new app to show in the multi windows tray and to have the cascade/minimize icon to appear in full mode, whereas with this mod you don't need to reboot, the app shows straight away in the tray and so does the cascade/minimze icon.
Download AllAppsFloatingMultiWindowsMega6.3.zip, flash it from recovery, clean dalvik cache, reboot.
Bugs:
1-In dual mode, before to minimize a window press the pins from both apps to avoid the black screen issue (you'll understand what I mean when you get it).
If you get the black screen no worries, just maximize your windows, or press recents, or home, or settings, well press whatever takes you out from the black. And next time don't forget to pin both the windows before to minimize them:cyclops:...

The wiping must be done after the flash.
What you can do is go into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik, then reboot.
Anyway, that's strange since the zip is harmless. Which Mega do you have? I9200?
That could be an incompatibility with MJ2...
Or, did the zip download properly? When you are flashing it do you see some text on your screen?
Sometimes, since the zip contains a jar, one has to reboot twice. I don't know why but it's an issue that I have once in a while.
In the worst scenario, I mean if it still bootloops, then you'll have to restore your backup.

I use I9200, i don't see any error message when flashing the zip, try to restart several times but still stuck at samsung logo...
So I reflash the full rom than it back to normal.
Maybe it just not compatible with MJ2

Yep, I think it's the XXUAMEE androidpolicy.jar that doesn't fit MJ2.
Upload your androidpolicy.jar and your framework-res.apk, and I'll mod for you and for other MJ2 users.

Nope, cuz nobody uploaded MJ2's framework-res.apk and androidpolicy.jar...
As I already said, if one wants this mod for a particular firmware (including Mega 5.8 inches) one has to upload those 2 files...
But that's in order to get the full mod. Otherwise it's possible to get 75 % of it by just renaming some files in the system/etc/permissions folder and adding some other files in the same folder, for any firmware on both Mega 6.3 and 5.8, see OP...

Probably, since it will have note 3 style multi windows, but I can't tell for sure (it hasn't been released yet).
I briefly tried a note 3 and I didn't see any floating option, but I know there are some mods like quad views (easy to implement on note 3, but not on mega )

With note 3, yes mw etc easily created the floating window presumably on the back of the pen window feature, but not as elegant as yours or as universal as your where every window can be minimised etc. Indeed the multiwindow method is somewhat convoluted.
on my huawei ascend mate, i used the floating notifications plus xhalo windows but also somewhat iffy.
