I'm on WB 4.0.3 and i experience lag when i press the home button. widgets don't load instantly and it seems to stall for like 1-2 seconds. also when the screen is off and i press home, it takes 1-3s to get to the unlock screen.
any suggesitons? thanks
im using adw ex launcher (1.3.3), but this lag was also experience on stock home launcher

im running wolfs 4.0.4, and whilst using adw i was getting serious lag issues, so i deleted it and now on stock launcher and its much quicker i dont know if im gna try another launcher just now, any recommendations except adw?
do u use its original arc launcher o otherelse?
if nt u can try go launcher ex or zeam launcher... both of them r a quite smooth launcher.... i suggest u flash agn the rom to retry its smoothness

I love CM7. I run it on my Droid Incredible and I wouldn't want to run any other ROM, but since I have the paid versions of both ADW and Launcher Pro I don't have any need for the free version of ADW that comes packed with CM7. I found a mod that replaces ADW with the default Gingerbread launcher, and I've found that I prefer the stock launcher over any of the replacements I've tried. It's fast, minimal, and it just works. My only problem is that launcher2 only has five home screens, and I want seven. A Google search brought me to a version of the stock launcher with seven home screens, and I was able to install it on the latest CM7 nightly, but whenever I pressed the phone icon I got an error message telling me that "this application is not installed on your phone". I tried the launcher on both OMGB and OMFGB with the same results. Is there a version of the stock Gingerbread launcher out there that I can use on CM7 that has seven home screens and a working phone shortcut?

Is it just my phone or me or is ADW launcher extremely slow and laggy if you compare it with Launcher Pro or GO launcher?
I would like to use it cuz it seems to have many nice features but i just cant handle all the slowness and laggs.
Laggy sometimes.. but not slow..
I think mostly it depends on how you manage your phone..
I mean services running, active apps, etc..
Also the ADW customization.. (Im using preset - fast, and in CM7 I lock home in memory..)
As for me.. I'm using ADW Ex + CM7 NB203 ([email protected]) rite now..
And I didnt notice any different btwn ADW Ex and Launcher Pro..
i havent tried Go Launcher though..

Tried every rom and kernel since KG2 came out...

Tried stock touchwiz, touchwiz 4.5. It's just not butter smooth while scrolling between homescreens. It IS smooth, but it still twitches every now and then.
Go Launcher is extremely smooth and it wasn't even coded for this particular phone, but the lack of hardware acceleration makes custom launchers undesirable.
Which ROM/kernel combination would attain perfect butter smooth homescreen scrolling?
I'm currently on KI4 highly optimized and I still get the occasional twitch when scrolling through homescreens.
I haven't seen TW be anything but perfectly smooth, it's even one of the repeated advantages that reviewers have given it.
I'm in doubt though.. is your device running on stock 2.3.4 or 2.3.3? I just upgraded my SG2 to 2.3.4 and noticed that the homescreen shows a bit of stuttering when trying to perform the following:
1) "Menu button > Add"
2) also pinch to zoom out the homescreen.
Funny though when I downgraded back to 2.3.3 the delay is not there.

Wow really? Cuz i stopped using go launcher cuz it wasn't smooth like tw.
Only launcher that comes close to TouchWIZ 4 launcher for performance and smoothness is Nemus Launcher and it's the only reason I've removed TouchWIZ Launcher from my personal ROM. OP is doing something wrong.
GO Launcher is smooth? Really? The last time I tried it it was very choppy and so I ended up back with TouchWiz.

Wow. Nemus is smoooooth. I think I might finally make the switch to CyanogenMod as the only thing that was stopping me was the slowness of ADW and GO Launchers
I'm back on TW 4.5. I've tried every Launcher known to man. I wouldn't run a stock TW, but Fr0gger's version has just enough of what I want, only lacking in a couple of areas.
I found Go Launcher smooth outside of the app drawer. TW is by far the smoothest for me out of the 8+ Launchers I've tried. As mentioned Nemus is nice, and I like Zeam as well, they're both smooth and lightweight. You trade off customization however. If you took the best from both Zeam and Nemus and combined them, while still retaining the light weight, you'd have the ultimate launcher.
Will likely switch back/forth between TW and Go Launcher for the most part.
Question
At some point adw crashed on cm7 zmod because i long pressed an icon and the option to delete/edit came up as i accidently swiped it in trash ...
Clicking remove then seems to be a no no for adw itself
Now what would happen if i were to install a different launcher and delete adw?

t would probbably work a little better..Try go launcher ex i used that home replacemnt for a very long time! its amazing!! hope this helps
And was that on a custom rom? Because i tried adw and launcher pro when my phone wasnt rooted etc so ot was just an apk ... ah home running over my SE home
But now when adw closed i didnt get the normal sony ericsson home screen but just a clean background.
I think adw is the only launcher in this rom ... hence my concern

YOu can use any home launcher on any ROM. But remember, that you must have any launcher on your rom If you closed adw and dont have any other launcher, thats why you had empty bacground.
Personally I used many launchers,but returned to default SE launcher,because it never crashed for me. You can try e.g. Zeam Launcher, its one of the fastest and doesnt have huge RAM consumption...
Firstly try to clean adw data using OS, it might help.
Go launcher works fine for me, however ADW launcher crashes sometimes.
Had been nice to find a way to remove ADW launcher tough... annoys me it is there

You can remove it simply If adw cant be uninstalled normally - use some root capable file manager (e.g. Total Commander for Android) and go into path /system/app/ Here you can find ADW launcher apk and simply delete it. Note you MUST have any other launcher already installed!

I've had exactly the same lag. I first noticed it when I had my x10 mini pro so I went back to stock and since I got the XS I got go launcher again and after a couple of days of running fine, it started lagging again.
In regards to your question, I don't know about apex or nova because I'm still on GB, but Holo launcher is very smooth and has a great UI but only downside is that it doesn't have the customization of Go launcher and neither does any others that I've seen.

I had all kinds of issues the last time I used Go Launcher. I really like Apex launcher over Nova. Also ADW launcher was always a good choice before ICS. Not sure what you are running on your phone.
ADW is a very good alternative which has almost all the customizations as Go Launcher Ex.
If you don't care about App Drawer and custom grid size, you can try MI Home Launcher. The launcher from MIUI custom ROM recently made it the Google Play Store. It's fast and has many themes that you can use.
