Good afternoon XDA'ers!
I recently broke my phone and had a new one just sent to me now on insurance.
First thing i wanted to do was root it so u i could use titanium to do a restore from my old device.
Unfortunetly i was a little bit stupid in that i rushed things and think i may have used the wrong kernal/bootloader in Odin.
My phone rebooted and sits at the Samsung Galaxy S II loading screen with the yellow triangle.
I am able to get back into download mode, but not sure what to do from here?
Is there anyway to fix this? If so how?
Just flash right kernel/firmware
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
What have you flashed via Odin?
You could try to reflash from Odin the right kernel to see if it works.
This might help. Haven't read it all, though.

Flashed PDA using an Insecure XWKDD file i had from my previous SG2 root.
Also i don't know what Kernel to use now :-s
first, download this: http://hotfile.com/dl/136310155/64f8cc4/I9100XWKK5_I9100OXXKJ3.rar.html (pw: samfirmware.com)
start odin. get in the download mode and plug your phone.
Click on PDA and choose the "CODE_I9100XXKJ3....tar.md5" file.
Click on Phone and choose the "MODEM_I9100XXKJ3....tar.md5" file
Click on CSC and choose the "GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-KJ3.tar.md5" file.
Click on PIT and choose the "...pit" file.
after its done, the yellow triangle should be gone.
unplug the usb cable, shutdown your device, get in the download mode again.
http://download.chainfire.eu/52/CF-Root/SGS2/CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEN_KJ3-v5.0-CWM5.zip download this. unzip file and start ODIN click pda and select the tar file. then flash! now you are rooted w/o annoying yellow triangle! you can flash kernel whatever you want with darkyota

The problem is that my phone won't boot into Recovery like if it has no recovery installed.
Are you trying to get the phone back to a stock rom? Do you have access to a computer running KEIS?
What method are you using to get into recovery?

Yes, I have done it through Kies and when I try to go to recovery the phone go into a loop.
Sounds like you used kies to upgrade to official ics? Why would you need to get into stock recovery? What button combo are you using?

K. Sounds like you're gonna have to flash a recovery through Odin. If you're worried about the flash counter then I would flash cwm through Odin, flash counter reset and stock recovery in cwm. If you're not concerned about the counter, then just leave that part out.
Thanks for the help. I'll do it as soon I get home.

Odin wil not find my cwm recovery to flash on my computer!!!. what do I do now???????
When you hit the PDA box it doesn't bring up the tar file? It can't be a zip. Make sure you have the correct cwm file on your PC. Make sure you download the Odin file. I prefer the touch version myself.

no, no tar file. I have downloaded from several threads and unziped and they show in my computer but Odin do nothing to find them.
STUPID IDIOT OF ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,,,,,:silly::silly::silly:. I downloaded the wrong one,,,,,........ will try again...
The PDA slot in Odin will only see specific types of files. In this case, it needs to be a tar file. Go to the link above and download the Odin file for cwm touch.

no need to unroot ma8, since flashing stock firmware will automatically unroot ur phone, after that if u need root then u can always do so
ps- ensure that u dwnld the proper firmware meant for ur device(if its I9100 then the one corresponding to it) and follow the ODIN instruction carefully for a successfull flash
1). Download official firmware for your device from samobile.com , Google and download Odin .
2) Extract the zip downloaded from samobile . It will be a .tar or .tar.md5 file.
3) Boot into Odin mode like u did earlier
4) Run Odin and connect your device . Odin will detect and will show the port number.
5) In PDA ,select the extracted file.
Don't change any other option .
6) Press Start
Odin will flash the binary . Wait till process is complete. On completion it shows pass.
Your phone will boot automatically.

Hi all,
I've been having a few issues with my S2 (Randomly resetting, freezing, etc) - so I decided to do a factory reset - but it hasn't worked.
When I turn my phone on, it wont go past the galaxy logo. I've tried holding down VOLUME UP, POWER, and HOME - but it doesn't boot it into recovery mode.
I've downloaded odin (the phone is rooted) and was told to download a new ROM and then use the PDA button on odin. But the only file type it expects is MD5, tar and SMD. Whenever I download a ROM, I just get a ZIP?
I'm probably being stupid. Could someone point me in the right direction? I don't care if I lose data, I just want the phone working.

What ROM do you want to flash?
If it's a stock ROM, then extract the zip file and flash the contained tar/md5 file with Odin.
If it is a custom ROM and only provided as CWM-flashable zip file, then use a stock ROM to flash first and flash the custom ROM afterwards, when everything works again.
Here you can get the latest stock ROMs => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487, or pre-rooted stock ROMs from here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608071, or use Check Fus Downloader from here => http://fus.nanzen.se/ to check for the latest officiallly released firmware versions for your phone in your region and download it directly from Samsung servers.

OK - I've downloaded and installed the latest stock ROM you posted.

Any ideas?
[EDIT] - Phone fixed. I was able to load it into recovery mode and cleared cache. woo

Attempted to root the phone but it didn't work.
I followed a set of instructions, and was asked to wait for the phone to reboot. It now has the "!" rooted icon but won't go past the rooted screen.
System restore and clearing cache doesn't set it back to factory default. Any ideas?

So I rolled it back using the original ROM and have given up on rooting it. It's a shame as I really liked Jelly Bean

PS- do see that u dwnld the file meant to flash by ODIN ie Download tar (for Odin)
Just flash a siyah v.4 rooted kernel through odin.

Developers Tip: If you want to flash firmware without wiping your data, make sure there is no pit file selected under the PIT tab in Odin, then extract and remove cache.img.ext4 then repack as a .tar file. Applies to both combo and 4 file firmware packages. In 4 file packages, cache.img.ext4 is in the CSC file. However, in some cases this may put your device in a bootloop.
Cheers!

The simplest way to explain 4 file is in Odin, there are 4 firmware slots. The "4 File .rar package" has the correct file for each slot in Odin to flash. Example, extract the .rar package you (might have) downloaded, and you will see 4 .tar files and the pit file. So the BL_xxx_xxxxxxxx_xxxxxxxx_xxxxxx_HOME.tar file would go in the BL slot in Odin.
Combo is basically all of those files that would be in the 4 .tar archives put into one. If you choose to download this file, the .tar package must be flashed though the AP slot in Odin.
And the .PIT file would go under the PIT tab in Odin.
If you don't want to lose your data while flashing, you can do this:
-Don't use the pit file in Odin
--or--
-If you chose to download the 4 file firmware, don't flash the CSC file and don't use the pit file.
--or--
-if you chose to download the combo firmware, you can use 7zip (I recommend downloading it onto your pc if you don't have it already) to extract the archive and delete cache.img.ext4, then repack the remaining files (Except the pit file) into a new .tar archive.
Cheers!

Open Odin and look to the right of the window, you will see 4 buttons, named "BL" "AP" "CP" and "CSC"
Extract the respective 4 file firmware from the downloaded .rar package to your desktop or downloads folder and open the folder once completed.
From there, you can insert the 4 .tar files into Odin. Once in Odin, click on the BL slot and navigate to the folder that contains the extracted files. Once there, select the tar file with the letters BL at the very beginning, and vice versa.
Example: BL_G850AUCU1BOC6_G850AATT1BOC6_LRX22G_HOME.tar (which is the bootloader files for lollipop firmware) would go under the BL slot in Odin.
Screenshot: https://mega.nz/#!2pZlGboI!M5YA2RGn0ufZ_bdVIFg6AD3xIH3iHg00JrAgHoo0OP8
If you downloaded the combo (all in one) firmware package, extract everything in the .rar file and place the .tar package under the AP slot in Odin, and if you want to perform a clean reset, make sure the .PIT file is under the PIT tab then PIT slot in Odin and make sure that "NAND Erase All" and "Re-Partition" is checked under the 'Options' tab.

Try booting your phone into download mode then reflash the Lollipop bootloader in Odin (BL File goes under the BL slot for 4 file). If you are not wanting to wipe your data, and if you downloaded the 4 file firmware, you can simply reflash the lollipop bootloader files then afterwards go back into download mode then reflash the AP and CP file. The actual bootloader in the phone does allow the flashing of different firmware versions for the device so it sounds like a small bootloader issue.
