Could it be as simple as going into settings > display and making sure auto-rotate screen is selected?
If it isn't that, I'm totally unsure.

source code to the wipe rotation data command in twrp.
https://github.com/TeamWin/Team-Win-Recovery-Project/blob/master/extra-functions.c#L531
the wipe rotation data command only does two things:
Code:
__system("rm -r /data/misc/akmd*");
__system("rm -r /data/misc/rild*");
these are both values stored on the /data partition meaning when the user performs a factory reset (wipes /data), these values are erased.
another words, these values shouldn't be critical and the device should be able to re-create these values.
have you tried the g-sensor calibration under the Display in Settings?
worse case, somebody could upload those two directories and you could download/load them.
hope that helps!
maybe its just the youtube app did you try the browser?
Yea the browser version automatically goes to full screen when u play a video so there's no way of telling I can tell there's something wrong bcuz I can't view my photos in landscape mode either

never heard of the calibration failing. can you provide more detail?
how does it fail? does it present an error message? what does the error message say? can you screenshot the failure you're receiving?
also, are you on a custom ROM or kernel? if so, which one?
the more detail you can provide the easier it will be to troubleshoot.
I was running the shooter ROM but I flashed over to steel ROM today and after a full wipe and flashing a new ROM I still have the same problem....here's the same error I keep getting with the g sensor calibration

exactly what is the error message?
It just says "calibration aborted" everytime I to run one...the surface is flat and even so I don't know why it says that

never heard of that happening before.
short answer: i would try the g sensor calibration from using a stock rom. if you get that error while on a stock rom, that should indicate some type of hardware malfuction, in my opinion and you should be able to show that issue to place where you purchased for an exchange/return.
longer answer: i would open up logcat and look for any type of debugging out when you run the g sensor calibration which might provide more detail around the error and possibly allow for better troubleshooting. might also be worth looking into the settings.apk file at the code which runs the g sensor calibration. not sure that is offered in the aosp settings.apk so might have to decompile the htc version.
sorry for the potentially bad news. hope that helps!

Hello im getting a strange clicking sound on back of the phone, close to camera, im getting it wen i do factory reset and on the first menu it does that, and in Camera app when you change picture to movie and so on... Does any one else experience it?
It`s been reported in a few thread , some camera make the sound and some don't , it might be a different make or firmware version.
It`s just the camera focusing in the camera app, it also happens when you power up the phone, it`s initialising the camera.
Is camera focusing ok, have you tried it with close up object how close can you go.
Just to make sure it`s ok
I also notice that when i tilt device to landscape mode i have to wait about 3-4 sec... i dont think thats normal.

I tried updating and I am unable to do video chat. I then did a reinstall and tried both 3g and wifi and I don't see the video chat option on the settings menu as mentioned by the app. I have an eve 3d with synergy evo 3d mod. Anyone also experiencing any problems?
I tried before I posted, everything worked fine for me. Rooted stock ROM, RCMIX kernel
Not Working for me either.
Did you find a fix for your evo3d? I don't have the option either in Skype even after uninstall and update. Same problem on gf's evo.
I get no video and the person I'm chatting cant see anything.
I was just chatting with my girl friend on skype with the new update. I'm running Vipers 1.2 ROM with TWRP
If your having trouble try uninstalling rebooting and dowmloading skype again.
I'm on the stock ROM, no fix is needed. This works fine for everyone I know. Probably whatever ROM you guys are using.

The video setting doesn't show up in synergy because the base is so modified that the app doesn't recognize it as an EVO 3D. A different ROM will work. I had the same issue.

Yeah I dont know whats up with that but I just hold the phone horizontal to ignore the upside down video chats.
It's definitely irritating that for a company as large as Skype seems to perform no quality control on their software. I mean its not an obscure bug. Immediately upon starting a video call you see the person your talking to standing on their head. One of the main reasons we bought the phone was the convenience for video calls since my wifes family live in Colombia and we are in the states. Also being military ill end up traveling and having a method to see ny family would he nice. Oh well. I'll just hold it upsidedown till they fix it. I thoguht if i bought an android phone I wouldn't suffer from errors caused by holding my phone the wrong way.

How do I stop skype from running?
I did the menu, settings, apps and stop it that way. It then came back the next day with no option to stop it from running. Is it eating battery when it's running in the background? Meaning I can see the skype symbol at the top of the screen.
TIA!

Ok.
Does anyone know how to calibrate the tilt of our phones?
It seems mine has somehow got screwed up
EDIT : SOLVED !
Here's how i did it
1)The code for the menu is 3845#*500#, Type it in the dialer
2)Select 'Device Settings'
3)Get this app and put your phone in a perfectly horizontal position, don't go stand on a slope or something [this step is very important]
4)Select Calibrate Sensor in the secret menu
It will then search for the available sensors, 6 of them will popup, but select the one which has the word 'accelerometer' in it. They are some pretty confusing names but the accelerometer sensor has the word 'accelerometer' in it. Don't select any other sensor.
4)Wait for 3-4 minutes and your phone will reboot.
5)Voila !!
Notes -
1)Calibrate your sensor only of it is screwed up bad, as in you play some game and the the car/person/doodle just moves around randomly
2)These don't work on custom roms, not even rom based on stock LG ROM's. I tried on v10e stock romania and it worked.
3)If your accelerometer is only 'uncalibrated' by a slight bit, DON'T use this method as it is pretty dangerous. Instead games like PapiJump and MypaperPlane 2 have the option to calibrate the accelerometer. Use them
4)If you are using a ROM with an unsupported kernel [like Phoenix with fserves kernel or Miks 6.5.8 with francos .35 GB kernel] the accelerometer won't work, period. So don't flash unsupported kernels with any random ROM's. If you don't know which kernel supports which ROM, Go right here
I'm not sure if wiping rotation settings in recovery will help but you can try.

Ok, tried bro.
Still no change
Download a level app from the market and make sure it is actually screwed up. If it is, wipe cache and dalvik cache and if it still doesnt work, make a nandroid backup, wipe data and system (And all caches off course) and reinstall your ROM. Then install a level app again and if it still screwed up, send to LG Service.

Ok lets start from the beginning. Please describe your problem and provide some details (what do you mean by tilt? Do you mean the accelerometer? When do you encounter this problem? When did you first notice the problem? Have you been using tweaks?, etc)
What rom and kernel are you using? Sorry if it's already in your signature (you can't see the sig in the app)

Yeah, its the problem in the accelerometer [i think]
I'm on andy's ROM v17 using .35 kernel.
I installed this ROM a few days ago, however i played doodle jump just yesterday.
I noticed that the doodle just kept moving sideways when my phone was perpendicular.
I noticed the same problem while playing nfs shift and asphalt, the cars just keep moving towards the right
Yesterday at night [i got pissed] and i kdzed to 10e then tried playing on the stock rom, but still the same problem.
I'm not using any tweaks AT ALL, just OC.
I've read that there is some command to type in the terminal emulator/adb in order to reset the vectors, but i cannot seem to find them.
Here is another similar problem on a different phone
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19291776#post19291776
I also had the same problem on miks 6.6.1 when playing asphalt 5.But after i deleted Asphalt 5 and reebooted phone, the problem had gone.
these are the only things ive found (but i really doubt if they work):
1. use apps that have a calibration function built in (however i think this only calibrates for the app, not the entire system in general)
2. rotate the phone around all three axes several times (not sure if this will help, but it doesnt hurt to give it a try)
3. ive also read something about using the hidden service menu, but you need to be using stock (i just took a look at it but all i found were tests and nothing about actual calibration, however i might be wrong)

See my first post.
I used that app to get it in the right position and then long pressed home to go back to the menu, then went forward with the calibration.
My menu had a certain version, don't remember cause i just flashed phoenix but it was 0.6xx ..It kinda looks like the custom recovery but it is in the form of a popup [like the one which shows ur call balance]
Also when it started rebooting, it arrived at the LG logo and then again shutdown on its own and restarted again.
I tried the menu thing in andys rom, but nothing pops up.
I guess its only 'stock exclusive'
AS goes for the menu there were the following options - [some which i can remember] factory reset, factory version, Device settings, auto test, LCD, bluetooth, WAP or WAN something laddat...more which i dun remember.
The calibrate thing is under device. There were a gazillion tests under the same subheading [touchscreen, camera, mdpi[?], fmradio..etc]
It also wiped off my root.
It would be nice if sweetnsour could include this in his sticky

I rooted my phone a few months ago and now, no matter what ROM I flash onto my phone, the front-facing camera doesn't work. Every time I open the camera app and click the button to switch cameras, the camera app closes because for some reason, it's not detecting the FFC. I was thinking about unrooting my phone to see if the FFC camera works when unrooted, but that's a big hassle. Anyone have any other suggestions?
You could try unrooting. There is a new tool in the development section, thunderbolt tools that has everything you need to root and unroot pretty quickly. Maybe try that and see if it works. Do you have a nandroid of stock to flash back to?

I'm gonna sound dumb asking this, but what example do you mean by "nandroid of stock"?
I also forgot to add that my phone is the Thunderbolt.
Camera could also be dead (hardware wise). My back camera is dead, showing only a black screen or force closing no matter the app or the rom I have tried. But the FFC works fine for apps that can start into it automatically (video chat apps).

I hope that's not the case for me. I don't wanna have to replace my phone since I'd have to pay full price now.
Also, I'm not sure if anyone has experience using the Thunderbolt Tools thing they posted in the development page, but I'm trying to use it to unroot my phone and it keeps giving me the same error message. It keeps giving me this when pushing the stock files to my SD card:
"failed to copy 'support_files\unroot\Stock-ROM.zip' to '/sdcard/PG05IMG.zip': Read-only file system"
Anyone know what to do?

Has anyone else encountered or solved this problem? When I try switching to FFC (no matter which app or version of the camera app I use), the camera makes a low clicking noise, then the app closes (no error message, no force-close window -- just closes and I'm back at the home screen). I have tried clearing cache, changing the system date, wiping cache, wiping data, mecha-superwipe, factory reset, different ROMs -- including CM7, Das BAMF, the new BAMF ICS leak. The only thing I can think of that I have not tried is unrooting. Anyone have any ideas -- or does this absolutely sound like a hardware issue?
