Hello, would like to ask for a favor...
I'm thinking of buying a replacement for my Viewsonic Viewpad 7 and the Flyer is high on my list.
(Together with the Asus Transformer and the original Samsung 7" Tab)
The Viewpad had a faulty Multitouch implementation where coördinates where not registering correctly giving me problems with some photo & navigation apps...
So now I want to be sure before I buy that the new device has a perfect implementation.
This is what I use to test:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.batterypoweredgames.mtvistest&feature=search_result
I tested the Asus, Samsung & the HTC Flyer is the local shop and Asus had a perfect 10 finger registration, all registering OK when moving.
Same thing for the Samsung, up to 5 fingers, all registering OK...
But the HTC in the shop had some problems, even when using only 2 fingers, there were false indications of a 3rd finger on the screen where the axis of the first two crossed...
Can someone redo this test on their device and see how the HTC behaves, if the shop had a faulty one, or if HTC has a bad multitouch implementation???
Thanks...
Everything seemed fine on my view with up to 5 fingers. Once the 6th to tenth fingers were utilized those points were jittery but the first five were still stable and did what they needed to do. Five fingers good as could be all the time even with ten fingers but anything over five was bad. If that helps you any. They all registered and I had no false registration just jittering on the extra 5. Really small screen to be moving around ten fingers on.
I tested up to 6 finger.
7th not supported!
HTC Flyer : 6 fingers
Galaxy Tab 7" : 5 fingers
Galaxy Tab 10.1 : 10 fingers tested, maybe can have more if I have more fingers

same result here ! 6 only!
Thanks for your replies
For me I don't really care on the amount of fingers it can register, just that is doesn't do false registrations when using 2 fingers.
The one I tested in the shop was jittering when i used 2 fingers and incorrectly reported a 3rd finger on the screen.
So it seems to be a sample issue...
Flyer again on my shortlist...

Touch hd screen not responding to touch or stylus
Touch hd screen not responding to touch or stylus
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In early February I upgraded my Touch HD to 6.5 from 6.1 and if am right it was energy.blackstone.21891.leo_Max. It worked for about two week and and then one day I struggled to get a gps fix on my tomtom. The next day the screen just froze with no response of any touching or stylus.
Managed to put the original orange rom back on it but could not cariberate the screen due to its not responding. I sent the phone to HTC UK for repairs but they said due to my having used unauthorised software the motherboard needs to be replaced and they were asking me to pay 168 pounds so they could go ahead with the repairs. I got the HD2 on a new contract.
Still love the TOUCH HD and was wondering is there another way of breathing life into this thing. Responds well to install new roms but the screen continues to remain frozen
Hi, guys
HTC Touch HD is good telephone, but touch gets out unfortunately often. It in Poland is this the cheap part however exchange of such touch costs 2x price of touch.
I bought week this on internet auction telephone with damaged touch which now cannon. I paid in Poland for damaged telephone 300PLN (60GBP) as well as for touch + conversion 100PLN (20GBP). Mate which converted touch, he did this 3h. It is not easily because it was it been possible to damage near conversion display as well as tape. He wanted me to to count up to his work, abut did not make this because we earlier were already prearranged on price. I know now that it will take a bit more but display + conversion will not cross 150PLN (30GBP)! If someone will be dust telephones with damaged touch, I will hug it willingly, they are reparable
it seems everyone had Energyrom on HD when it goes to the heaven...
Is it because of Energyrom, or is Energyrom so popular?
I have Energy since I have this HD, but never was any problem with it - until now... I'll try to find a way to replace the digitizer, hope it will solve the problem.

Well, I rather think it's because the EnergyRom is so popular So the bigger coincidence from my point of view is that all our devices break down at nearly the same time! Mine, e.g. is nearly 2 years old - all the other devices presumably around this age too...
I'm now changing the digitizer and LCD (as the LCD got broken when removing the digitizer )

Mine is 2 years old as well, but this problem (touch screen not responding) occurred to me the third time by now. Also, it has nothing to do with the ROM, since I had stock every time it happened. (yes, after two years I am finally getting around to change ROM in my device. it's just sad).
I suspect a dead digitilizer, you can get them cheaply on eBay

Hey whats up guys , i replaced my dell streak screen according to i fix it and everything seemed to go well . The problem i am having is that the screen lights u but i never see the dell logo or anything but a black screen . I am assured that the phone is on because i see the difference between the screen being on and off and i can also see the back lights for the lcd on just do boot up screen. Any suggestions. Btw streaks all the way !
I have done the same thing during my many screen replacements. The large flat ribbon isnt inserted fuly, or you have broken one of the corners on the connector resulting in the pins/contacts not lining up exactly and crossing over.
Careful working with some jewellers screwdrivers will get the ribbon inserted properly, even with a broken connector. If it is broken, use a knife to slice the stick pad from the small ribbon in half, place over the broken section: this has kept mines in "working" order for over a year.
I say working in quotes because I broke my screen for the fourth time a few months ago. Seeing as the avg. price of a screen is now £125, my Samsung Galaxy S3 will be arriving tomorrow and good riddence to Dell who didnt give a crap about this device other than getting your money. dell will never receive another penny from me in my life, may it rot in flea infested armpits of a camel.
thanks man.i will try this tonight.I feel the same way Dell had a opportunity to dominate the 5 inch market yet they crapped on it with a lack of Customer support late adoption of froyo a weirdly weak screen.to date I have had 16 Dell streaks replaced by Dell.those stupid reps probably knew their product was **** never will I purchase another Dell product. Now I have a galaxy note and I'm loving it!

I just bought my 80 G9. Before I start rooting and romming and warranty voiding I thought I should ask in case these are defects:
In landscape mode, is it normal for the viewing angle to be better if the tablet pointed down instead of up? In other words, if I have the screen down on a table and I'm looking at roughly a 45 degree angle 18" away, it's not good. Yet if I prop it up almost vertical in the same place, 18" away, below my line of site, it looks amazing. Head-on it looks kind of ok, but videos and dark images get washed out. (And using it in portrait is odd too - the screen looks good if I tilt it to the left. Otherwise, the screen looks different to each eye).
The second thing I experienced is, there seems to be a touch dead zone in the top middle of the screen, right where the X's are in Chrome for a second or third tab (it takes about 5 taps to finally get one to land on the X). I haven't found any other dead areas.
If both of these are common issues I can live with them.

Do you have a 80G9? Its viewing angles seem to suck
The 2nd issue I have as well, it appeared more in ics so I'm hoping its a software issue and will be fixed soon

Yes, 80 G9.
I'm quickly getting used to the angle.
As for the touch, I ran a drawing program and sure enough there's an 8th inch margin around the whole screen where touching is difficult.
Hi,
i've got the same thing on my 80G9.
After a screen calibration and after the last update, the touchscreen is ok.
The viewing angle is very bad on this tablet in landscape. Try to do a 180° rotation. I only find this solution to watch correctly
Its designed to be optimally viewed using the stand so that's probably why the viewing angle sucks flat and Straight.
I think the dead area is not a dead area its just chrome takes a while to respond due to its huge memory requirements with tabs.
As for voiding the warranty : If you use custom roms from here (XDA) and NOT Official then your device won't be watermarked and won't void the warranty. Just remember to total factory reset/wipe and remove SDE Menu system before you ship it back if it needs a repair.

I installed multitouch visual test from the market, and there was a definite dead zone. The taps would be extremely accurate up until you reached 1/8-1/4 from the edge, and suddenly nine out of ten taps would land on the very edge. Tapping on chrome tab buttons was merely a symptom.
So I returned the G9 and exchanged it (I had drove 2 hours to a store to buy it in the first place, and luckily found an excuse to go back within the 14 day return period). I exchanged it, and tested it on the spot. The accuracy of the edges was much better. I'd say nine out of ten taps near the edges were within 5 pixels (whereas in the center they were dead on). Not quite a scientific test, but definitely noticeably better. And tapping on things near the edge like chrome tabs worked 9/10 times.
That was yesterday. I got home, started playing with it, turned the tablet to rotate it, and no rotate. I know rotation worked earlier in the day while I was testing it - it had rotated while in my lap at an almost flat angle. Still I double checked the rotation settings, did a factory reset, upgraded to stock 4.0.6. It's still stuck in landscape mode.
So I'm out. I'll find another excuse to drive 2 hours each way back to the store sometime in the next 2 weeks, and probably exchange it for something else (with any luck the nexus will be out).
It's too bad too. I really liked it. The price was phenominal, the hardware design straightforward, the os non-bloated, etc. From what I read there aren't a lot of problems with the hardware. I just have dumb luck I guess.

I got two A80S tablets and no problems with touchscreen here.
Just to inform you about some features of ICS:
Have a look in the settings...
- Developer options
- User Interface
- Show touches
After activating this option a light spot is shown after touching the screen.
No need for an external tool to check the accuracy of your touchscreen .

Thanks! This certainly won't be my last ICS device, so that's good to know!
I'm a field tech and a father so my fingers can be cut up n dirty with glitter on them. I'm afraid that's not it though.
Anyone else having problems with the fingerprint sensor? It works great for a day or two then only every once in a while down to having to reprogram out of annoyance.
I'm currently attempting one index finger x4. Had been using 2 index x2.

yes...same here...there are times in it works flawlessly and times when it doesn't register at all.
i feel like having the metal sides as part of the fingerprint sensor is making it difficult to use...with or without a case

FPR is working for me flawlessly 100% of the time without a case on it, with a case is working 50% of the time. If your FPR in your phone is not working without a case 100% of the time is probably a bad set of finger prints registered or a defective phone. Try to register your finger prints again and se if that works. Good luck.

how many times did you register 1 set of prints? i have my right index finger (2x) and my left one (1x)...are people doing each finger more than that to ensure that it registers from every possible angle?
i have also deleted it and did it a over a couple of days ago...still have issues...it works most of the time though...just doesn't work here and there
the times it doesn't work, i dont believe (but I could be wrong) that it has to do with the finger placement..its just like it decided this time you need to use the pin code instead...so it will just fail until it forces me to enter the pin
I find mine doesn't work nearly as well when my fingers are dry, or wrinkly when excessively wet.
Other than that, even with my case on, the scanner works 90% of the times. It usually doesn't work too when I make poor contact with the scanner.
When my fingers are wet it doesn't work. I'm pretty sure they aren't making it fail on purpose to put the code in. Make sure you place your finger at the same angle or close to it, as to when you recorded your prints.

I have the same finger recorded a few times and it tells me to retry every time I go to unlock. This is the worst FPR I've had on a device, but still keep it on and just keep retrying, hah.
Im just curious as to how are you guys scanning?
Mine works flawless with a rugged case and no mods (like the foil tape)to the case.
I've only had this phone since Thursday and i just did the FPS yesterday..
Heres how I do my FPS.
Click and Release Button
But leave finger over the FPS ... Works 100% since I got it figured out.
And I only have my left index finger registered...

hmm interesting...i press the button, wait for the screen to turn on then place my finger....your way is quicker...i'll try doing that from now on
Mine is working fine without a case, but I recently got the VERSUS case, and only managed to get it to unlocked successfully only from 1 position, with the finger vertically 90 degrees, and using the finger tip
What's interesting it recognises one finger well. With finger on the other hand it lags all the time. I re-added this finger three times and I gave up.
Fingerprint on this phone is the bottle neck of the UI. There was another complaint about the fingerprint from a user on another thread.
Maybe it was me.
I have not figured out a solution to this, but I get better at placing the finger in a way the sensor recognizes it more often. Still not all the time.
My wife's zf8 (non-flip) has the same issue, too.
Try moisturizer.
Did you try it?
My theory is sanitizers makes hands so dry that fingerprint look flat giving low definition.
Moisturiser makes the skin perk up a little. If you don't want to moisturiser. Just very lightly lick your thumb ( or whichever finger you have to unlock ) you don't want it wet you just want it slightly wet you'll unlock really fast.
If it doesn't work re-register the print with moistened hands. Also drink more water.
Do tell if this worked.

Actually works. Haha.
Glad it helped
so much lol.
actually I was not planning to lick my thumb every time the phone needs an unlock ... and since my thumbs and fingers work perefectly with other phones, tablets and PC-sensors, it must be the ZF8 (flip).
it bugged me (and my wife, too) so much that we sold the zenfones again and happily returned to Oneplus7 and Oneplus6T. Some new phones will turn up some time, maybe I can get a deal on oneplus9 phones...but the asus-experience I have to say was rather bad.

I think the Oneplus 7 Pro is the last good Oneplus they made the 8 and 9 I couldn't like no matter what.
I like to mod and they seem to be mod unfriendly. I really like the ZF7 Pro, I love everything about it.
I am not a fan of Optical Fingerprint scanners. I wish they make the Zenfone 9 Flip with a capacitive scanner, like in ZF7 and Oneplus 6

Actually solution is very easy.i think most of user just don't know do it properly. You may press a bit while to setup a finger print.once setup to unlock you don't need to press your finger.just put/touch a bit your finger to the spot and scanner will scan you finger easily. Can do repeatly and then you realise is actually easy to unlock this phone.
I added a second finger which is the same finger and it now works much better.
