Gingerblur to Gingerbread 2.3.4? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Back in July, I followed a guide on brief mobile to root and install Gingerblur ROM. Now that the Atrix got the 2.3.4 update, I downloaded it OTA on my phone and but I am hesitant to install it. It keeps reminding me to install it every 3 hours with a pop-up but a few threads in here say that you shouldn't install the OTA update?
My phone is AT&T version but my carrier is Rogers and I unlocked via. unlock code.
Any suggestions on how to update? Thanks!

I can only imagine installing the OTA over Gingerblur would cause you many problems, if it even installed in the first place. You'd have to go back to stock first.

I suggest do a sbf to 1.83 , and then do the ota update

How would I revert to the previous Motorola stock 1.83 version? I completely forgot the process.

Simply by flashing the SBF for 1.8.3.

It's ironic because the official motorola OTA is the one that is giving everyone trouble. That is this one.
If you want to get gingerbread safely you will first need to install 2.3.4 with an unlocked bootloader, follow these directions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1142674
You can now flash roms if you performed that successfully, I would recommend this one since it is safe and great:

Cheers, pm me if you need help
The stock ota is safe if your not unlocked or anything.
But the stock ota motor has put something to prevent your from going to older sbf. The version kenneth has made is perfect. And still gives u stock rom with extras

O ok thanks so sounds like kens version is the best way to go

I have a related question:
Is the GingerBread 2.3.4 Motorola update out via OTA? I mean, "officially", so it can be installed on a stock unrooted unlocked Atrix. I read the update will be launch end of July.
Thanks in advance.

You can brick your device if you are not on 1.83 before you flash gingerbread on your atrix....at least that is what I understand from it. You can't go from 1.26 to gingerbread, you have to go from 1.83 right to gingerbread. And you have to unlock your bootloader otherwise you might screw something up.
PS. Please check your grammar man. Unless you're from like France, take the time and type things the right way.

nope! its out in an SBF file I believe. As of right now, you will have to root your device and install 1.83 before you can flash gingerbread on it...I haven't installed a rom on here in like a months so I've been outta the loop I guess

It wont load at all with 1.2.6 but that's not what is causing bricks going from 2.3.4 to any older sbf with the stock ota is causing the bricks. Kenneth build you can go back, and is safe to use.

Motorola has given no date for GB release. End of July is only speculation.

[Q] Official Gingerbread: will it offer unlocking bootloader?

I am currently waiting on the official Gingerbread to be released rather than flashing the custom 2.3.4 build that's floating around XDA. I'm basically wondering if, when the official Gingerbread is released, will the unlocking option be available in the update or will I have to do something else to actually unlock the bootloader? If it isn't an option that Motorola will provide, will it be easy after the update or should I update it now?
Lastly, I am using GingerBlur 4.5, so I'm assuming I will have to flash back to 4.1.8.3 to get the official update? I'm VERY worried about hard bricking my phone so what do I want to avoid (and why do I want to avoid so and so)??
Thanks for the help.

Bootloader for the official ota 4.5.91 update floating around the forums does not allow you to unlock it. At least not officially. You can still use pudding sbf to unlock. Check pudding thread.
Also updating to the official ota update 4.5.91 posted here you cannot SBF back to an old 4.1.26, .57, or .83 SBF or you will hard brick. This means don't flash anything besides the bootloader pudding sbf with RSD lite.
Chances are we already have gingerbread for AT&T Atrix but we will find out soon enough.

You will probably need to SBF back to 4.1.83 to install the update, but u should be notified about the update when its available, unless you froze updater 2.2.1 with titanium backup.

This thread might help clarify regarding the locked bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158428
Unlock it right now with pudding and flash lastest 2.3.4 with CWM. After that you are going to ask yourself: why didn't I do that before?

Reverting from 4.5.91 to 1.8.3

Hey guys
Super-n00b question, did my searching, but was not able to find a distinct and crystal clear answer for this which has already caused me one hard brick.
I hardbricked about a week ago going from the OTA gingerbread (installed using update from update.zip with CWM) back to 1.8.3 with RSD Lite.
Got my new ATRIX, and it was on 1.8.3 with locked bootloader, obviously.
I unlocked the BL, and just flashed pudding again to get the update for the ram fix or whatever.
I installed kennethpenn's 4.5.91 gingerbread CWM flushable zip, and have been running that.
I want to go back to stock 1.8.3 so I can start from 100% clean.
GOING FROM kennethpenns 4.5.91 GingerAtrix with unlocked bootlkader, can I use RSD lite and flash stock 1.8.3 back onto my phone with out running the risk of hardbricking?
Responses with direct and distinct answers would be wonderful, as I have not been able to find any by searching the forums.
Thanks in advance

Official SBF 4.9.51 question

We all know that if you used the OTA update with an unlocked bootloader that you can no longer flash back to pre-Gingerbread SBFs. Now that we have access to the official SBF for 4.5.91, is it possible to SBF to that version without hard bricking the phone?

Yes, you can use that sbf. You cannot use any lower sbfs.

What to do with OTA update 1.3.418.en.US?

This morning my phone starts to pop up OTA update message to 1.3.418.en.US every 2 hours. I recently SBF'ed back to 2.3.4. That's probably the reason. HOwever, I am no pageplus, not on Verizon, not sure why I get this update though.
Regardless, should I update? will this screw up my root privilege? As a software developer myself, I am very reluctant to do any necessary update. I know how much bugs we generate with new code So is there a way to bypass/deactivate the update?
You should use Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper from the market on 2.3.4 to keep root and upgrade. It will alike for you to have the newest kernel.

Can I remove this APP after the upgrade?
I tried to have my phone rooted and use voodoo, however the update wouldn't install when I done that so I am now on 1.3.418 w/o root.
Just sbf back and try again.
