Shouldn't it act only on LCD? How should it take effect also on phone speaker? Actually I had the same problem in the past week, after I flashed GingerReal 1.1.0 and proximity sensor was turned on though...

I'm pretty sure you have Go SMS Pro installed, since the same thing happened to me! That is a bug. You should update to the latest current version or uninstall it.

[Q] Hd2 Proximity sensor not deactivating

I am having a problem with my sensor not re-activating the screen when I move away during a call, and when I push any button except to end the call, the phone just disregards it. Is there an app or something similar to reactivate the screen with a button push, or is there something I'm missing?
can anyone help?
eh fore the moment I'm preparing to get sleep, and navigate/search with my device isn't so easy.
but if it can help you take a look on the Q&A thread if my memory is good I thought I have see a thread with this situation/ solution.

Alright, thanks dude
Have you installed GPRS_1_Minute_Auto_Disconnect?
This app disabled the proximity sensor on my HD2

Hi !
I'm facing the same problem since I upgraded to ROM 3.14.406.2 (french ROM)
Everything was fine before this upgrade.
What I've found is that while calling, when you put your phone away from your face and that the screen is off, if you put a light near the sensor, the screen turns on again.
I think HTC messed up while configuring the proximity sensor values in this ROM...
kinda annoying indeed !

Just install CHT 2.0 (and CHTE and CHTS ). There you´ll find a lot of toggle switches. One of them is for activating/deactivating the proximity sensor and another one is for relighting the sensor. That helped my HD2

proximity sensor is not working v20c P500

on the sensor firmware blunt, the screen turns off it is not possible to disable the incoming call, is sent in direct sunlight, or bright light from the lamp sensor works.
on V20c 2.3.3 proximity sensor is not working officially release
on version 2.2.1 v10g sensor works correctly)
on version 2.3.4 CM7, Void forever works
you tube test my

up 22.07.2011
in v20e Proximity sensor is working but randomly, random screen fades out, then turn on, turn off during a call.
And why did you have to post in this section?
I have similar problem - with v20c proximity sensor during the call is switching screen on and off randomly (even when phone is on the desk). But in hidden menu test everything is ok. I don't have this problem in any froyo roms, or cm7.
Unfortunately, LG f*ck*d update to Gingerbread, many users have problems and are waiting for a good custom roms.
To end calls turn on ending with power button - settings > accessibility > power button ends call

I have exactly the same. Perhaps phone application is poorly calibrated with sensor. Like everything in this official update.
I'm not having this issue on v20g. However, I have the following added to my build.prop (thanks to Noejn)
ro.lge.proximity.delay=20
mot.proximity.delay=25

edit - I am having the same issue even with the edits though it's not quite as bad as the youtube vid.
Any news about the fix for this issue? I just flashed GingerLOL 1.5 ROM and faced this issue. It's based on V20c.

This is how Proximity Sensor Drains Samsung Galaxy S4 (i9500) Battery Fast !

Check this video ... hope developers will fix this ASAP ...
Note : You need an extra camera to see the Proximity light. Remember, you can't see this with open eyes ! Just like Infrared sensor.

sorry but you can't see anything, I cannot read any of those blurred text lines.
the best solution for this is either to stop using it temporarily or switch to aosp4.3/cm10.2. all those sensors that samsung added only drain more battery.

nevermind, just keep your eyes on the proximity sensor . It doesn't disappear after an incoming phone call !
anyway , how to stop that sensor permanently ?? it turned it off from > settings > call > turn off proximity sensor ! but still the light is visible ... it disappears after phone reboot !
ive noticed this as well
That's probably an air gestures thing.

Hmmm mine is always shutdown i guess....that purple color is new to me (from the vid)
If you display turns off when coming close to the sensor with your hand during a call, the sensor is active, you just can't see.
Some cameras can see the light, some don't. You can check with an it remote control from your TV!
David
have noticed how this is on. i was gonna go through each individual service running by the system and shut it down and see if it turns off. Its gotta be an APK or jar file doing it. Unless the kernel itself is for some weird reason.

I already turned off all sensors and installed several firmwares (omega ,arrow, wanam) and kernels ... but still ... it's so annoying
The proximity sensor requires 0,350mAh power. That's < 1% usage since we have 2600mAh battery I *think*....

So I guess you mean it takes 0.35mA.
So if you have a runtime of 15 hours, it takes 5.25mAh... really not that much.
David.

Yeah
omg on all world doesnt exist app which works on rooted phone and can kill proximity and gesture sensor???
The app Elixir say 0,75mah for my Samsung S4, but also 0,75mah for an original battery of 2600mah is few energy, 2600/0,75= 3467 hours.

Proximity Sensor Issue!

I’m having a serious issue with my Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-i9100.
I was on stock 4.1.2 (rooted via Siyah kernel v6 b5) probably when the problem occurred. The problem is that whenever I make call, the proximity sensor light up and it make the screen black out even if I’m not holding the phone to my ear or so. It’s just lying on the bed. The screen doesn’t light up and I can’t hang up the call. I just can’t do anything till the other person hang up. Pressing home button and Power button just don’t work to make the screen go on.
P.S: The proximity sensor turns on when I first made a call after a reboot and it didn’t gooff till I restart even it stays on after the call.
I have tried formatting internal sd card and also wipe data/factory reset, clear dalvik cache, clear cache partition, flashed stock rom 4.1.2, flashed nexus 2.0 and even downgraded to official 2.3.5 but it didn’t worked out. I even tried to restore the EFS folder from my old backup but still it didn’t helped.
Here in the screenshot you can see the proximity sensor is active, on the home screen even no call is being made.
Please does anyone know what the issue is because it was working before?
Anyone?
I think you should replace the sensor....it's just 3-4 dollars, and it comes with the front camera and light sensor(AIO)

i9100 proximity sensor doesn't work
Hi to all!
I have the issue with proximity sensor and didn't manage to find a solution in other similar threads!
The matter is that it is always stay as Released.
In the same time in test screen (*#0*#) there are changing reading for PROXIMITY parameter from 2 up to 240 with no ADC parameter at all. Please look for screenshots. PROXIMITY parameter changes its value when I move my finger in front of the sensor, but as I can understand Android doesn't recognize it because of ADC absence.
Moreover I tried to change proximity sensor for working one (from another phone), but it shows the same as mine (with no ADC readings).
After all I think it is software problem, but I don't know how to solve it. I flashed different firmwares (now it is XWMSE NeatROM v.6.4), but nothing helped.
Please assist! Thanks!

[Q] proximity sensor during calls, and lock screen notification problem

EDIT:I fixed it! turns out it was a hardware problem which occured after i replaced the screen. It was fixed by following instructions on this youtube video, called "How to Fix Proximity Sensor Issue for Samsung Galaxy S3, S4, or Note 2" ( i can't link right now because I'm new, so just look it up on youtube.) so if anyone encounters the same problem hope this video will help!
Hey guys. New to the forum I tried to do a bit of searching but couldn't really find an answer.
So I have two questions/problems I guess.
First off when I go into a call, sometimes the phone screen goes black as soon as I start the call, and won't turn back on until I hang up using the power button. From what I understand it's due to the proximity sensor always being on? But I have not been able to find a solution to this.
Secondly is, I've noticed with the lock screen notifications, when I ticked the option for wakescreen when receiving notifications, and when the screen is off, the proximity sensor is on. and when i untick the wake screen option, it goes off again.
I'm using Fusion-Boeffla Rom latest version as of now, 26-02-14 one. But this problem has been around when I was testing different roms such as temasek unofficial CM.
Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks in advance!
1- go to calls -> settings -> uncheck turn of screen during calls.

And its probably a kernel / rom issue

i can't click the link, but i've seen that option in stock samsung roms before, but i can't seem to find it on my rom. And you're right, its very likely its a rom/kernel issue, i may try a different rom or even stock to see if it helps =) thanks
