[Q] Phone doing stuff by itself - HTC EVO 3D

Whenever I have headphones or an auxiliary cord plugged into the headphone jack, the phone always thinks it's a headphone/mic combo. This caused it to do voice search or voice actions a lot, even though I didn't initiate anything. I froze those two apps with Titanium Backup, but now the phone will often call the most recent number in my call log (doesn't matter if it's a sent or received call), even though the phone's locked and the screen is off. I haven't really been able to notice any sort of pattern, though it does happen sometimes when I pick up the phone out of my car's cupholder, or when I take it out of my pocket.
Perhaps unrelated, the screen will often turn back on after I push the lock button.

Q-tip out the headphone jack. There's probably something conductive in there that is causing a short inside of it when the male jack is moved even a tiny bit, which is triggering the headset commands. (Re-Dial, Skip Track, Voice Search, Etc)
Just use a dry Q-tip, peel off enough of the cotton so that it'll fit in all the way, and wiggle it around. Should solve the problem till something else gets in there.

i would do what the guy said above but if that fails then you just my have some faulty hardware and might need to take it back to sprint to get a new one and of course if you are rooted you will have to go back to stock first

Use an app called headset blocker. It will stop the phone from thinking it has a headset with a mic

[Q] headset always appears connected, even when it is not

Hi, a few days ago I noticed the headset icon in my Xperia X10's task bar, even though no headset or headphones were plugged in. Turn off/on proved to no avail.
Everything else in the phone functions normal, and if I do plug in earphones, they still work.
The problem is really that if I call someone, I must use earphones in order to hear them, because the phone is trying to output the audio through the apparent headset.
If anyone has experienced this before, or knows of any possible solution, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
When I phone someone, on the dialer, there is a button for speakerphone....make sure that is unchecked and that one the dialer screen is off.
Is Bluetooth on? Add the Power Control Widget on the homescreen....uncheck the bluetooth box
If you open Settings->Applications and take a look at what apps are running.....what is there?
Are there any apps that have anything to do with a music app or something?
thanks for your help beau420, but I now believe it is a hardware problem, after a minute of fiddling with inserting and removing earphones, I managed to make the phone realize nothing was plugged in, and hopefully have now solved the problem

Help: Questions about Voice Talk+my headphones+voice dialing

I checked around here and found no threads that could FULLY answer my questions.
I have a set of Bluetooth headphones that I like to wear while I am biking or walking my dog. I use them to listen to music and to make/answer hands-free calls when necessary. So far, everything seems to be working ok. Whenever I press the Call button on my headphones, my music pauses and the Voice (or whatever that Vlingo-powered app is called) opens and I am able to simply say "Hi Galaxy" and then say "Call Whoever."
Here is my question/problem though:
Whenever I press that Call button on my headphones and that Voice app opens, the screen also turns on! Whenever I am using my headphones, the phone is in my pocket (FYI, I am also weird in that I ALWAYS place the phone in my pocket with the screen facing away from my body) so I cant even see the screen anyways.
Should I be concerned about the screen coming on while in my pocket AND/OR is there a way to keep the screen off when that Voice app opens?
I havent had it happen yet, but I am afraid of my clothing somehow pushing a button on the Voice app and screwing something up! Especially since I am moving my legs and my pants might be rubbing against the phone screen.
I appreciate anyone explaining how I can fix this issue OR someone explaining to me why I dont need to worry.
In case it is needed:
Phone: SGH-I777 AT&T Galaxy S II (rooted, debranded (still AT&T though), running stock 2.3.4 firmware)
Headphones: Sony Ericsson MW600
Music App: Poweramp
Voice App: Default Voice (Powered by Vlingo) app
Oh BTW, if anyone asks about whether the Sony Ericsson MW600 headphones work with this phone: YES, YES THEY DO. Very well in fact!
(I was worried too because after updating my old SE Xperia X10 to 2.3.3, the music, no matter what app used, kept hiccuping every few random seconds! I am SOOOOOO glad they work perfectly on my new phone!!!! )
There's very little chance of anything happening. As you haven't even had it happen to you.
Though for jogging I'd highly recommend and arm band phone holder like one of these:

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using XDA App
I also find this annoying. Screen also turns on when you end the call with the headset. The whole purpose of bluetooth is handsfree so I'm not sure why they designed it like this
glad to hear that there is nothing to worry about regarding accidental button press. still wish the screen wouldn't come on though.
ill look into one of those armbands just because though. it may make things easier when biking. Thanks oh gr8hairy1 (love that name).
EDIT
I ordered one.

Bluetooth and cardock

Has anyone had any issues when using both the cardock and a headset? I received both for Christmas and the behavior of the phone seems inconsistent. Once I have paired my phone and put it into the dock, I have inconsistent issues with
1) Using the "Calling" button to make calls
2) Long-press on my headset (Jawbone Icon) doesn't actually pull up the voice commands prompt
3) Voice search won't enable.
Also, when I take my phone out of the dock, sometimes I have to really work at getting back to my default homescreen and out of the Car Dock. Numerous back, home, screen offs, to get it to go back.
I've never used either the dock or a headset before, so I might be missing something basic. Any help is appreciated.
I have the dock and connect to my Stereo via BT with no issues. yea, sometimes it takes a few seconds for the phone to realize it is no longer in the dock and go back to my home screen, but I find that if I just dont touch anything once pulling it out it switches on its own faster.
as to your bt issues... never had them. by bt's only flaw is that every once in a while it unconnects from my stereo and I have to reconnect.
also what ROM are you using? Locked or unlocked?

[Q] Very weird and frustrating volume issue

Hello all,
I am experiencing a very weird volume issue. I'm debating sending the phone in for the insurance, but I heard that this phone has stopped being sent back as a replacement, my buddy with the same one had to pick a different one. So I would like to find a workaround
Problem:
The volume is inconsistent, very much so, but only at very intermittent times, sometimes frequently. It starts at one of the two levels, low and high, and switches between the two sometimes 5 times in a few min or once every few day. it occurs across every application and every re-install of the venom rom.
It is a problem because 1. it is annoying, and 2.I have a very loud sound system in my car.
Normal loud listening volume is around 20-23 out of 35. i can turn it all the way up with no distortion and it is extremely loud at this point, loud enough to damage ears easily. When I turn it up that loud(at festivals) I like to wear earplugs in it. When I'm just driving I don't need it that loud, but I always ride to taste with the volume. Sometimes i don't look at the volume level on my car, the volume on my phone is up all the way but it has decided to take a low level to start today. While driving and not looking at the volume, just listening to it, i will usually set my volume at 33-35, then the phone decides to jump to it's loud setting making me cringe and swerve in pain and surprise as I sound like a rattling venue driving around. I have mostly solved this by just using my ipod. But I really like having spotify and pandora in there. plus android kicks ass, my ipod feels like a backup hard drive in it's waterproof case
Have Tried:
Pushing volume button up(does nothing when low)
Rebooting
Re-installing os
Bluetooth vs aux (both same problem)
resetting Bluetooth connection
removing and and pushing in headphones
placing a call
Guess:
it appears to not affect calls or ringer volume, just media volume, even speakerphone is unaffected. my guess is something in the audio processing section due to it affecting bluetooth and aux out. I have ruled out speaker, installed programs, connection type, time of day, specific mp3's, temperature, movement and what i'm doing on it. It is really stumping me, usually I can figure out what is broken on the inside of things hardware related, but I don't know the inner workings of this phone exactly.
Would like:
To know what is actually going on. A fix would be awesome, but I mainly want to know what it could possibly be. It has confused me for too long.
To know if the phone can be replaced for the same model to hold out until next summer
Would not like:
To be told to just get a new phone. I like this one and the rom on it. plus i already paid for it and a new battery. i will live with the issue until next summer if need be
Any ideas?
Which media player are you using? Since it only occurs during media playback perhaps a different media player will give you some insight

I usually use power amp.
Though the problem occurs across that, the stock media player, Pandora, spotify, youtube, flash videos. pretty much everything except for calls and ringer.
Try using a app that (re)sets the volume every time you connect to the radio via Bluetooth. I use a car dock that automatically launches my car app (car home ultra) when the phone is inserted, and the app then automatically sets the Bluetooth media volume to a preset volume every time.

[Q] How to disable Google voice search

OK, hi all
I have a goofy problem.
I drive 2 cars, alternate them every other day.
One of them is Camry Hybrid. I stream music via AUX cable off ITune radio.
Problem is, ONLY in this car, every time I plug AUX cable in and turn ITune on, Google Voice search pops up. It became a pest, as it pops up every time I touch AUX cable in the phone or even move the phone. I made perfectly sure fingers do not touch the screen or any buttons, it still does it. I have to shut it down about 5-6 times in a row, before it stops popping. Have none of this issue with the other vehicle.
I never use this pgm and could care less about it.
How do I delete it or shut it down permanently? Can't find any settings to do so and can't locate in TiBUP to delete, or even in apps manager in settings.
Thank you.
Look for com.google.android.voicesearch
