[HELP]"yellow screen emergency mode" "Error! Partition Table" - Optimus One, P500, V General

Hi all,
On a regular P500 with stock Android 2.2, build FRF91, software version LG-P500-V10b, the yellow screen Emergency Mode!! appeared after a regular restart and would go any further. I couldn't connect this situation to any of the apps that were installed.
Also, on regular usage, the Emergency mode scrren may appear out of nowhere and the phone is off the network.
This phone is used by my wife, she's not a hacker, she just want's to sleep the baby with melodies from this phone.
If I let the battery out for more that 15min it will boot back the normal way, but it isn't seen by Windows, it senses the device when plugged in but it says "device unplugged"
I followed several guides in the forum, and I saw there are two ways of writing something to the device:
1. "downgrade" the phone to the original firmware, like here Guide for newbies - LG OPTIMUS P500
2. write a new ROM, like here [ROM] (OFFICIAL) [email protected]_2.3.3_v2- Power Menu +franco-kernel+New Boot+ How to Guide
My obvious problem is the phone not being seen by Windows. I started it on purpose in Emergency Mode with Vol up+back key+Power and it appeared in device manager as LGE Mobile USB modem #2.
First I tried to write a new ROM, like at point 2. above, with LGMDP THUNDER v1.5, but I run into this error, after pressing the Start (write ROM button): Error! Partition Table. Here is a screen shot.
The I tried the other option, to "downgrade" the phone to the original firmware, with KDZ Updater.
I found V10E_00.kdz, although I think I should use V10B but I didn't found it. Search on this forum is a pain because it works one time in a hundred (it says something about maintenance).
KDZUpdater did its job successfully but the phone rebooted and halted on "Android" screen, that's it. Then I removed the battery, powered it back up and, surprise, my friend the Emergency Mode!! is back again.
So this phone doesn't seem to be bricked, nor isn't stuck forever in emergency mode, but also is not reliable anymore because of the emergency mode appearing randomly.
Please, slap me in the face with a link saying "dude, search worked for me an here's the fix".
What I can tell you for sure is that I didn't saw the partition table error before on this forum.

hmm... try again with kdz with correct version and do all things again but wait until all works done. don't be so fast
and come here again and tell what happened

If it is stuck on android logo after flashing kdZ, take out battery and press voldown+home+power button to hard reset
Sent from my LG-P500

Indeed it was stuck on the android logo after flashing with KDZ. Hard reset worked!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
After this I had Android 2.2.2 running, then I started LGMobile software updater Agent from LG PC Suite and it updated the OS to 2.3.3. After finishing, the phone rebooted to Emergency mode again, but I did another hard reset and now it works perfectly, it reboots properly.
I guess the root problem was a corrupt file system.
A little offtopic since we are at it. for you guys what proved to be the best rom/kernel combination for best battery life?
Thanks again!
Later edit:
New updates: the phone doesn't behave normally as it began above. Later after the update, I tried to connect the phone to Windows PC and surprise, it didn't saw it as it was supposed to, the problem encountered at the beginning of this post reappeared:
Device driver software was not successfully installed

Although I have the correct drivers, because when I connect a friend's LG P500 it is seen properly.
After this, I rebooted the device and, surprise again, it booted to Emergency Mode. I unplugged the battery and let it for a while, then it booted normally but still it isn't seen by Windows.
Is this a software (ROM/Kernel) issue or a hardware issue?
I mention the my friend's LG P500 has the same factory provided update with Android 2.3.3, build GRI40, soft version V20g, kernel 2.6.35.10-perf [email protected] #1 and it doesn't have any problems.

Update: I can not even charge the device after I power it down. When I insert the charger, the emergency screen appears right away and it stays that way. I don't know even if the device is charging.
The workaround is to unplug the battery and leave it for 15-30 min or more and then it starts properly, but the problem in the post above is still present.

What is supposed to be the correct version? I tried these rom's: V10A_00.kdz, V10B_00.kdz, V10E_00.kdz, V20B_00.kdz with KDZ Updater in all possible combinations and got the error "Upgrade error WParam:100. LParam:502" at each attempt.

I can not flash any rom on it, it stays in the Emergency Mode screen. It is the same thins I mentioned to Aspee above.
Is my phone bricked?!
Now what?

My phone was acting wack so I decided to reboot and all of a sudden I saw the same screen that you are experiencing, but I just battery pulled and everything went back to normal. I have yet to experience this yet again though. (Running 6.5.7? CM7/Franco's kernel v19.?) Happened a while ago don't remember versions. I know I'm not much help but just saying I got this problem as well .

if you have emergency mode theres always a chance your phone flash by kdz delete all drivers follow the tutorial on kdz and install the drives they provide and try more then one time because when hi the 1 and last time hi use lg mobile updater to update my phone it stop in midlle and hi was stuck in emergency mode,i tried a lot of times some times windows dont detect my phone others it do but kdz dont i dont count but only several times of tryng the kdz works...
but emergency mode random i never read or see in my phone if you get it work on froyo or gingerbrad and that still happens hi think you should go to warranty and say that in a midle of update byLG software your phone stay that way they will fix it....

Reminder: my phone boots to Emergency Mode after you power it off. While in emergency mode, if you unplug the battery it will boot the same way. If you leave the battery out for more than aprox 15 min, it will bot the OS it has written on it. Why??
After more an more hours spent on it I can conclude to this: my phone is to be seen by Windows only in emergency mode. I was able to flash it with KDZ while in emergency mode but with errors (Upgrage error: Wparam:100 LParam:6).
I was able also to flash it once with LGMDP but it stayed in the emergency mode screen and didn't rebooted itself, so again with an error.
I flashed it with both V10B and V20G and it behaves the same: while in Android, it isn't seen by Windows (with or without USB debugging) and if you reboot, it boots to Emergency Mode. Why??

it´the first time hi read something similar but if you cant or if you have a chance to try in other pc do it but if you cant leave that way take to lg center service and tell them that was making oficial update from their program and phone stuck like that they will fix it for free i dont now how to help you

I tried to connect the phone on three different machines, two Windows Seven and one XP. On XP I had the most success with flashing the phone.

sir lmihaila, i have the same problem. exactly the same. been following this thread since you posted it, still no solutions, got this phone cheap from a friend, it was on LG stock rom, not sure what he did on it, but it already was doing the Emergency mode.
i update a month ago to CM7, tried different kernels and roms, it was still happening on all of them, was about to try kdz, but then i saw your post saying it didnt work..
so until we found a solution, i guess we never turn phone off, or if it did, leave battery out, mine works out of Emergency mode after 5 mins of battery out.

bajie23, I'm glad you posted.
Indeed there is no solution yet, but I did some progress today. I played with the phone with it's battery unlugged and plugged his power adapter.
On a normal P500 the LG logo would appear and it would tell you to put the back cover and battery back. On mine, guess what, the emergency screen appeared.
But with a little knack, I pressed vol down+home+power and plugged the power adapter at the same time and the LG logo appeared as at a normal P500.
Then I inserted the battery, the device showed another wired attention triangle and Android System Recovery logo popped up, then I pressed Home and the Android System Recovery menu appeared. See pictures:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/846/20110915230511.jpg/
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/16/20110915233836.jpg/
I could move trough the items in there with vol up - vol down but I couldn't press OK because none of LG P500 button did anything regarding this. I prepared even a new ROM on the SD card, renamed it to update.zip like in the Android System Recovery menu, but in vain because I cannot validate an action.
I exited this mode by unplugging the battery and power adapter,
I tried once again to enter Android System Recovery but I couldn't pass over the emergency screen anymore.
Just for the record, when you shake your phone do you also hear a little piece of something moving in the upper part of the device, right behind the earpiece? Does your handset has dropped marks? Has it ever been dropped, hit?
On my friend's functional P500 this noise isn't heard.
LS: bajie23, you said you tried different kernels and roms, how did you flashed them?

that was my first post. registered here just for this issue.
no moving parts inside, haven't dropped phone yet, no damage showing it has been..
i used clockworkmod recovery to flash - try to google it, there are tutorials, but i cant post links yet on this forum.
i installed recovery mode using "rom manager v4.3.1.3" app..
it simply instals recovery mode on start up. you can go to it by holding volDown+home+power. then vol up and down to navigate, menu button to select.
you can instal. zip from your sd using recovery mode.
problem is with our phone, booting in recovery mode gets you to that F&*%In "Emergency mode!" screen. you need to keep battery detached for 3-5 mins, put battery back then hold volDown+home+power, do not let go until the recovery screen appears.
you can instal kernels and roms using recovery mode, there are options to wipe the cache and everything, tried all of them, but guess what? still F^&*% "Emergency mode"
looks like our problem is deeper than the start up..
*next thing i will try is to revert back to original rom, try to unroot, and see if it helps, even though it doesn't appear to be on the rom or kernel.. then i'll try your step to see if i can get partition table error as well..
**i remember seeing on a site saying Emergency mode is like a test mode for lg that they use to flash..

Hi folks,
I have a Optimus One in the same condition. I tried to update Android to Gingerbread using the LG software and now it's pretty much always in "Emergency mode". I'didn't find any way to flash it again even with the stock rom. It seems that the usb port is not working correctly...
I'm using this procedure to let my P500 boot in "normal" way, and so far it seems to be working:
1) while the O1 is in Emergency mode, and the battery is almost fully charged, connect the charger a few minutes, let's say, 3 -5 min.
2) after that, remove the charger plug AND the battery
3) replace the battery on the phone
4) press the power button for 1-2 sec.
The phone should boot normally.
This procedure doesn't solve the "emergency mode" issue, but at least makes the phone usable.
Update: this procedure isn't working now!

I got this problem, too.
Bought LG P500 on 12nd november, updated to GB 2.3.3, no problems for 20 days.
Then trying to connect to PC I notice that it couldn't see it, nor SD and the phone, too.
After connecting to USB if trying to reboot the device it goes into emergency mode.
After pulling off the battery for 5 minutes it reboot normally but it is still not seen by the Pc.
After removing the battery and booting normally if I try to reeboot again in goes normally.
So I suppose that there is something conflictting connecting to usb that avoid to boot until memory cleared (battery removed).
I sent the device to LG, yesterday, hope they solve the problem, usb issue?
What about you?

partition table error is due to missing of partition.mbn file during selection of files to flash.
to install custom recovery you can follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318750 (partition file is included here use it if u want for some other purpose, it will be same for p500/optimus one as far as i know)
then flash rom from recovery follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1309744
And if you are stuck at boot logo after flashing rom then factoryreset/format from recovery.
aFTER booting into rom if you see no gsm signal then upgrade baseband using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217504
or
flash any other stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19006040#post19006040

I had this problem (not the partition table error) not after a flashing but after 20 days past the flashing, before everything was well.
What can be happened?

I realized that there is something wrong with some LG500 motherboards, regarding USB connections. I too tried to flash the phone using LGMDP but I always got the partition table error. My phone, either in Emergency or in normal mode, is always recognized by the PC thru the USB, but when it starts to communicate it locks ... I cannot flash anymore, and actually it seems that USB port is useless.
I know that there are some special cables, apparently suitable for LG500 too, that can set the device in "download" (emergency?) mode, they use a 130k resistor somehow. If this is real, probably some motherboards are faulty, putting randomly the device in emergency mode, even without the mentioned cable. Pullup/pulldown resistor missing on MB? At first attempt to communicate, the USB controller of the phone locks, probably getting an undefined state. This is my impression.
Since my phone is still under warranty I settled to bring the phone to LG repair service...

[Q] HELP! Phone keeps restarting

Hey folks,
I'm having some issues with my ATT Atrix. The phone keeps rebooting at the "Rethink Possible" screen. I bought this phone off of somebody on CL. I actually had the phone make it past the att screen a couple times. It made it to the setup up Motoblur screen but when I clicked start it just skipped it and takes me to the "Emergency Calls Only" screen. However the phone would just restart eventually at this screen as well. When the screen timed out I could not get the screen to turn back on at this point unless I unplugged the USB cord and plugged it back in. When the phone was on the Emergency Calls screen, my computer did recognize the phone and it did launch the motorola website. While I had the phone at this screen it did say that it had to force close android.process.com. I am coming from a captivate with rooting and flashing roms so I am familiar with Android. I am just trying to figure out where the problem could be with my Atrix. I am hoping somebody can point me in the right direction. Thanks for your time!
Your best bet will be to SBF that back to stock. Have you tried that yet? If not search for RSD Lite and SBF in the forums. There are several links and guides.
Is it unlocked?
I am not sure if it is unlocked as I cannot get past the emergency call screen. However, I will search SBF and research that option of setting it back to stock. I know when I flashed roms on the Captivate I would enter into recovery mode. I see in the Atrix that I would have to use Fastboot? The only reason I am worried about flashing a rom is that the phone reboots on its own so I would not want to hard brick it if it rebooted during a flash.
If it's unlocked you should see the word "unlocked" in the upper left corner of the boot logo screen, unless it was unlocked then flashed back or fruitcake in which case it will not say unlocked.
You should not have issues flashing from recovery if you have enough juice in your battery, which you maybe don't if you have been letting it sit rebooting. The rebooting is more than likely caused by an issue with a kernel, ROM, etc. Think of recovery as being similar to the BIOS on a PC. You enter into BIOS before the OS boots, etc., and this is before all the hardware has initialized and drivers have loaded, so the problem causing the reboots should not exist at that time. I would definitely try flashing a different ROM, and also a stock kernel.
It never said unlocked when I got the phone to turn on. I am having trouble getting the phone to turn on this time. I have downloaded RSD Lite and the 4.5.91 .sbf file to flash. I am just having trouble getting the phone started. Are there any ways to force the phone on. When I press the power button the green LED stays lit but nothing comes on the screen. When I plug into the charger it shows the moto symbol then goes to the Battery charging screen. Im not sure if the battery is correct because it says BHX5 1500mAh on the battery. Thanks for your help guys!
Update: I can get the phone into Fastboot and then Android Recovery Mode when the phone is plugged into the wall charger. However when I connect the phone to the computer via USB it just shows the green led when the phone is powered on. Anyway I can get the phone to boot into Fastboot while connected to the computer via USB?
Bump. Any way to get the phone to turn on when plugged into the computer or anyone know why there would be an issue of the phone turning on when plugged into the wall charger but only showing the green led when plugged into the computer? The battery shows 100% charged. Thanks
Update: I got the phone into RSD mode and flashed the 4.5.91 sbf but the phone only goes to the Emergency Call Screen. Is there anything else that can be done?

Did you fastboot -w before flashing the sbf? (Guess you don't really need to when flashing a sbf)
What may also help is flashing the boot.img file from whatever ROM you are using via fastboot.
Don't know if this will help, but it solves an issue when flashing to a different ROM from CM7, so maybe will help for you.
I know this might sound dumb, but do you have a sim card installed? Also, try to boot into recovery and just do a factory reset. @CaelanT already pointed out that this should be unnecessary since you flashed an sbf but it wouldn't hurt to try.

EDIT: I reread the OP and realized he had already tried to bypass the start screen.
That is not the correct battery. That is actually a battery used for the Droid X/X2. It seems they have pulled a switch-a-roo on you. (Probably because the Atrix battery could be used as an "Extended" battery in the DX/DX2) Anyways, it should still work but you can find the correct battery online, it should be a BH6X and should have a capacity of 1880/1930mAH.

Thanks for the reply. I tried to get the phone into recovery mode. I get to the Exclamation Point screen but it gives me no options for a factory reset. I saw that you have to touch the lower right hand side of the screen, but this doesn't do anything for me.
As far as flashing the boot.img file for the rom that I used. I flashed the stock 4.5.91 motorola rom. How can I find boot.img and would I flash it using RSD?
Also would it help if I flashed a custom rom instead of the stock Motorola 2.3.4 rom?
Could the battery not being the BH6X rom be the issue for it not getting enough power to stay on by itself?
Thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it!
No, the sim card was not installed during the flash. However, I did install the sim card afterwards but the phone boots up and goes to the big green battery charging screen and does not go any further. However when the sim card is not plugged in I can get the phone to go to the Emergency Call screen.

The following are the instructions for flashing the boot.img. this was the solution to bootloops when trying to restore to a different ROM after CM7, but as I said previously, you never know if it will help or not:
1.Open up the Zip file of your current Blur ROM (Ninja, CherryBlur, Alien, etc.)
2.extract the boot.img file and copy to the directory where your fastboot is.
3.Pull phone battery & reinsert
4.Power on phone and go straight to Fastboot mode (Power + Vol Down)
5.Type "fastboot flash boot boot.img" (exclude quotation marks)
6.Once flashed, reboot phone using "fastboot reboot"
Sorry, don't know how to extract the boot.img from a sbf. Did a quick search and couldn't find instructions. Not something I have done before. Maybe someone else can help with this. I don't even know if this will work, but anything is worth a shot when you are stuck.
<edit> Which CWM are you using?
You can flash Romracers via fastboot if you are not using it. This may help you get into recovery.
Update: I got the phone to recognize the sim card and make phone calls and get wifi active. But the phone still reboots by itself. I can use all the functions of the phone except it just reboots by itself. I got into the About phone section and it says
Android: 2.3.4
Kernel: [email protected] # 2
I can get into the Android Market as well as everything else. Could this be a hardware issue that causes the phone to reboot by itself within a minute or so?
Edit: I can get the vol up and down buttons to work while the phone is working but the power button is not responsive to let me power the phone off. Could a hardware issue with the power button be causing the constant reboot loop?
Update: I got the phone to function with the OS working just fine (phone calls, texts, emails, etc..) but it keeps restarting on its own. The power button still does not work however, could this be a hardware issue? Thanks

Strange stuck LG P500

Hi, i've a strange (but i hope common and resolvable) problem.
After all, i say that i searched through the forum (with the search function) but with the solution that i found and tried i didn't solve anything.
I start saying that i got a p500 with a broken sdcard reader board (it simply doesn't have a microsd 'cause doesn't recognize).
That phone some days ago just shut down and went stuck on the LG Logo.
I tried at first the hard reset (home+vlm down+pwr), nothing happens.
I tried then the recovery mode and try to update with lg updater, and didn't work, lg doesn't recognize the phone on the updater (but on the main screen of the BBc app does).
After some tries, (dumb tries, for example leaving it without battery for some hours), and searching, i did two ways:
-KDZ Firmware update way, selecting 3gqtc and diag on lg logo, or recovery (and recovery sc) on recovery screen, nothing done.
-LGMDP for installing fastboot and CWM and v20e. It completes the operation but nothing changes, the lg is still stuck on the lg logo.
The last thing that i noticed is that one time, powering on the phone, button's leds flashed about 4-5 times. but if i try to re-do the action, doesn't get anymore.
I would know if there is another way to exit from this stuck-screen.
I hope opened the topic on the right section.

When you say recovery and recovery sc, you mean EMERGENCY and CS_EMERGENCY, right?
So, you tried selecting these options while on the black menu of recovery (like the Clockworkmod one) or on the yellow screen saying Emergency Mode!! ?
In case you were on the recovery, try the following: remove the battery and, while holding the volume up and back keys, connect the phone to USB. After that, try using KDZ selecting EMERGENCY.
But in the case you were correctly on the emergency mode and just used the wrong words here, then I'm sorry but I don't know what else you could try to solve your problem (wait and see what other ideas people will come up with).

Yup, sry it's late night and i got confused with words.
I'm can go on the yellow screen and "EMERGENCY MODE" is texted on center.
And on KFC Used both modes of emergency (even diag).
I tried to do this without battery, but the result is the same. When it reboots stucks up on the lg logo. =(
Uh, i forgot to post the errors of kdz:

[Q] am i soft bricked or hard bricked?

Hello. I'm new to the forum, and the issue that brought me here as had me fulling my hair out of the last three days.
I'll try my best to make this short as possible. I have (obviously) AT&T Lg Optimus G (E970) that was running 4.0.4. i rooted and unlocked it and flashed a cm 10.1 using TWRP. Yesterday tried to flash a zip for a transparent status bar mod. But the flash resulted in CM getting stuck on the splash screen. So i booted in TWRP recovery mode to restore from a recent backup. In the midst of wiping my rom and going to restore, i guess my phone died (which was weird because it had a substantial charge). Then it would no longer power on, and the only was i could get ANY response was by plugging it on the charger. All i get it the red indicator light. my phone will only turn on when plugged into the computer. from there the only two thing i can do is enter download mode and boot. and when i try to boot, i will get the lg logo for a moment and the the screen cuts out and goes back the the flashing red light.
so I trien the LGNPST method.
i downloaded the auto LGNPST and installed just fine. downloaded teenybin and lg stock bin. i've tried to flash both (put phone into download mode, select the dll and select the bin file). what happens is everything starts off fine, then when it gets to 67% the phone reboots, then goes back to the flashing red indicator light, and a message on LGNPST will pop up saying the phone has been disconnected, and to reconnect to continue. so i'll unplug the phone, plug it back in, and put it in download mode, and hit continue. LGNPST will say complete but the phone will still be just sitting in download mode. and if i unplug it, it's goes back to square one (red flashing indicator light)
EDIT: i was flashing the v11c stock bin. i just flashed the v20j bin and now we're boot looping while plugged in (lg logo for about 2 seconds, shut off, repeat) progress???
SO SO SORRY FOR THE LONG READ. Just trying to give as much info as possible hoping it helps.
My question is, is this a hard or a soft brick, and do i have any options left? after researching on here i'm hoping JTAG isn't my only option (I don't have the time or funds to go that route) and i saw someone mention taking it back to at&t, butIi don't think that would help me any since rooting the phone voids the warranty, correct?
I'd be eternally grateful for ANY advice. i'm at my wits end, and i've been google researching this for so long i'm starting not to even comprehend what i'm reading. PLEASE HELP!! And thank you so much in advance.

If it is hard bricked when connected to computer it will show up in device manager as QDUSB Device or something similar. You could try to do a factory reset with button combo, be sure phone is powered off then hold power and volume down until menu shows up.
You Can Also Try TeenyBin If Factory Reset Does Not Work

thanks for the reply guys. it looks like my phone is showing up in the device manager under ports as "LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM3)" is that a good sign? i'm going to try flashing teenybin again.

Yes, you are not dead in the water. Proceed, young grasshopper.

All the custom, unofficial 4.2.2 roms I found on XDA require that you be on the latest LG 4.1.2 OTA.
There are also links to stock rom and kernel so you don't have to mess with LGPT whatever. No need to do OTA etc, if you flash this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219953
I also found TWRP to be far easier to install, which is installed by default I think with FreeGee. But you can find thread for the latest TWRP 2.6. TWRP makes flashing and wiping cache/dalvik super easy.
Ok, so i'm starting to think this is a battery issue as opposed to a hardware issue. i could still be wrong. I've flashed the stcok rom after stock rom. When i plug my phone into a computer usb port it LG logo boot loops (and this is the only way i can get to download mode), but when i plug it into the usb wall charger, i just get the red flashing light and no other response. when it's not plugged in i get nothing. It's still showing up as "LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port" in my device manager and i can still get to dpownload mode just fine, so i know all isn't "according to what i've read and been told". So i'm running out of fixes. I did come accross a thread on here suggesting i unplug the battery and plug it back up. So i'll be getting the tools and praying that works.
I did also come across an interesting thread on another forum. They were saying how id you allowed your battery to drain all the way to true zero (which i think might be possible because my phone died in recovery mode), it wouldn't have enough juice to initiate and monitor the charging process. If this is the case, can the batter be brought back to life? a jump start or something (lol)? or will i have to just replace the battery?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE HELP SO FAR GUYS.
When you used lgnpst to go to 11c it boot looped because you tried to go backwards from cm. If you did a factory reset afterwards with button combo it should boot. Also can you get into recovery after flashing teenybin to do a reset and flash a ROM?

i did a factory reset a few times, but it still never booted. and whenever i LGNPST, when it hits 67% the phone reboots and just starts bootlooping (if i flash a stock rom) if i LGNPST teenybin, at 67% the phone will shut off and the flashing red light will just come up. and after each a message will say phone was unplugged or lost connection. after both instances ill plug it back up and put it in download mode again to finish and it will complete, but the phone will just be sitting there in download mode. and if i reboot.... bootloop city.
i cam across this thread that seems to detail my issue perfectly. so i'm going to attempt a teenybin flash one more time to tryt to get recovery mode (havent been able to get it at all), and if that doesn't work i'm going to do a battery pull..

BATTERY UNPLUG WORK LIKE A CHARM. again, i followed the method [r.]GimP laid out here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43732147#post43732147
i was nervous because i've never opened my (or any other) phone before.
and thanks to the tot link provided by zymphad above, i'm now running jb 4.1.2
THANK YOU GUYS :highfive:
I found LG's camera lacking, but 4.2 has an update for that, plus the camera mod, much improved I think.
Running RootBox great now with 124mhz idle, GPU downclocked to 200 and CPU undervolted to 85, stable and cool. I don't 3d game on phones.
Glad you fixed it, I just hope someone makes a high capacity internal battery for us since taking it apart isn't that difficult.

[SOLVED] Boot looped LG D120g. Only download mode and --useless-- factory reset

SOLVED
I've been able to debrick the phone! It's difficult to reproduce the steps, but it goes something like this:
- Being that the phone rebooted by itself [with battery on] the flashing process could never be completed successfully. So I noticed that the phone kept powered on when the battery was removed and it was connected to the micro USB. So I used LG Flash Tool 2014, and as soon as the process started (after selecting the KDZ file > CSE Flash > START > OK) I connected the phone, with the battery removed. The process started and had a
"Connection to Server failed. Try again in a moment."

error, which I ignored, so the flashing process went on background. Then it said there was an error and give me the option to retry. I did. The process started again, reaching 99%. Then the phone restarted and the perennial "Download mode" was gone! The Android with a charging bar below appeared. I put back the battery on the phone and after a few reboots more it was back on KitKat :victory:
Hope this helps someone else in the future. It made me sweat

Hi. I've a LG L30 Sporty, also known as LG D120g. I've been using the phone and a day, three weeks ago, I had the brilliant idea of trying to flash Injector with Flashify.
The phone was rooted, running stock Android 4.4.2 and without any other issues. I have never been able to use the stock recovery (except for factory reset) because strangely the font exceeds the screen limits and the menu is illegible.
Now, the reason because I say it's "hard bricked" is because, at the moment, the only two things which the phone can do is freezing on download mode, and "factory hard reset" with VOL. DOWN + POWER BUTTON, and the POWER BUTTON once. The factory hard reset is confirmed, and only returns the phone, without rebooting, to the download mode.
I have tried ADB and LG Bridge, but none of them detect the phone. I've two firmware: D120AR10B_00.kdz and D120G10A.kdz. But (only tried once) now the phone is in a boot loop! It cycles every 40 seconds, taking with the dark screen to boot (or reboot) and 20 in download mode.
Well, any ideas? I've given up, but now my father could use the phone and I thought of asking around.
Firstly it is not HARD-BRICK
Its is just boot-loop aka (soft-brick)
Now its solution
1-USB Drivers (your device)
2-LG Flash tool / KDZ Updater
3-Stock ROM (other necessary file).
Try flashing it with stock ROM, and still your having boot-loop Don't worry do a factory reset and than good to go.

First of all, thanks for your quick response.
I don't know if it's relevant, but the phone is effectively rebooting every 40 seconds. Can a firmware be flashed like that?
Anyway I've tried. The flashing process reachs the third stage, the one with the phone and the up arrow when the software extraction in progress completes, and then there are 2 dead-ends: 1) A window which says
Connection to server failed.
Try again in a moment.
Click to collapse
And when I close it, I disconnect the phone and remove the battery, press VOL. UP and connect and put the battery on, and the phone starts again and I click "Retry". LG Flashing Tools says "Verifying phone connection..." and then "S/W Upgrade is in progress", but it never goes beyond %11. I believe that it is because of the boot loop =/
If I could only stop it...
Post your question here, some expert might help you.

I'm giving it a bump. Just once.
Any idea? I'll try anything (I think I had already, but maybe...)
NEWS:
On fastboot I can't list the device on it, or at least I couldn't yet. I've, however, noticed that the phone is detected by the computer.
When it's on download mode there are 3 new devices: 1) USB Composite Device 2) LGE AndroidNet USB Modem 3) LGE AndroidNet USB Serial port (COM13)
I've stabilized the reboot cycle by taking the battery out when connected to the computer. Somehow the USB cable seems to power the phone independently from the battery circuit.

Stuck in bootloop Neffos X1. No recovery mode.

Hello community,
I haven't posted here before, so I hope I'm not doing anything wrong.
I have a problem with my Neffos X1 and after browsing the internet for hours nothing helped so far, so I hope some of you can help me out.
My phone is stuck in a bootloop since yesterday evening. I haven't done any updates or new installations recently, so it just happened out of the blue. It loads till the Neffos logo and then restarts over and over again.
Since I can't take the battery out, I tried letting it run out of energy and then restart, but as soon as I connect it to a power source the bootloop will start again.
I read a lot about getting it in recovery mode or to try and flash it, but no matter what combination of buttons I try, nothing is happening. The phone basically doesn't react to anything and just keeps restarting. The only thing I noticed is, that when pushing both volume keys the screen will just stay black (no restarting), but after letting go the bootloop will start again.
I tried flashing it via SP Flash Tools, but the phone also doesn't react to it.
Lots of troubleshooting guides also require, that I have rooted my phone in the past, unfortunatly I haven't. I also read about unlocking the bootloader, but since my phone isn't reacting to any buttons and my laptop also doesn't seem to recognize my phone (probably because it doesn't boot proberly), that doesn't seem like a solution either.
To summarize: I'm stuck in a bootloop with no recovery mode, no rooting, no unlocking bootloader, probably can only use my laptop to do anything remotely.
So, is there anything you can think of, that might help me get out of the bootloop? Or ideas of what I may did wrong when trying the other solutions?
Thanks for any help in advance.
Same problem
I have the same problem, I have tried all kinds of soft reset and nothing is working I also opened the phone to check if anything was not connected properly, but everything seems fine except for that infinite loop. Please help!

Try this
Download phone's Stock Firmware onto your personal computer.
Install the USB MTK Drivers - NOT ANY OTHERS (skip if you have them already installed).
Download and Launch the Smart Phone Flash Tool (SP Flash Tool)
Click the Scatter-loading button to navigate to the Stock Rom you just downloaded.
Select the Scatter File from the extracted Stock Firmware on your computer.
Select the Download Only in the SP flash tool option
Click the Download button to start the Formating process.
Connect your phone via USB to the computer>> holding volume + and volume – button of your phone at the same time or holding power button only so that the flashing process will starting working
Patiently wait for your device to be formatted.
After the formatting is done, a Big Green button will pop up on the SP Flash to show that.
Unplug phone and boot it up.
If you have a boot loop after booting your device, boot into recovery mode and do a factory reset.
Voila, you are all good.
