Made a mistake with "root un-installer" pro version needed to unfreeze re-install system apps etc. Pro version NOT compatible with SII!
Now my messaging reboots phone and I have no way to reinstall the missing system app.
Whats out there to install system apps?
Anything that gets a recommend?
I've tried a few different apps. nothing worked yet.
Android 2.3.4
Kernel 2.6.35.11
Lite'ning Rom V6.1 XXKH3
I can revert back to O2 defaults, but...
The only way to get back system apps back is re-install the firmware that contained them. What i would do is stay rooted and make a nand/titanium back-up of all that you have now on your current firmware.Re-install your the firmware you need to get back your missing apps and then flash back the version your on now.Re-install your back-ups and you will have everything you had before.

This is not true.
I see you are running lightning rom. locate the original rom zip find the app you are missing in system/app.
push the app to system/app on your phone or copy there with a root file manager change permissions to match, reboot, done.

What?
Like the above said just extract the system apps from the .tar file of the rom your on and use a root explorer to copy them to system /app folder. If your wanted you could always use this code: *2767*3855# in phone dialer. This will reset the phone to factory settings and reinstall the rom.

Not even in a tar mate straight up in the zip in system/app.
The *2767*3855# code will factory reset your phone but im pretty sure it wont reinstall the rom and not going to try it lol

In effect yes it rolls the firmware back to the last installed rom at the point it was last flashed .
In other words flash stock KDD 1-8-11 factory reset three weeks later reverts firmware to that exact point . Likewise if you flash a custom rom Factory restore reverts to that at point of install .

As the previous poster said, you can just download another browser app from the market. Your phone does not depend on the browser app for a data connection. If for some reason you can't do that:
Check the I9k forums and find a CWM flashable, stock ROM. Download it, use 7zip or winrar (or any other windows archive program- google search 7zip, its free to download) and open the ROM file. Go to: system/app. Find browser.apk and extract it to your desktop. Use adb to install it: adb push /system/app/browser.apk and you should be all set.
thanks for that did kinda help...is there anyway i can just remove everything on the phone and re install everything....kinda like re-booting with all the preloaded samsung apps...regardless if i deleted some or not?

No, not really. You would need to reflash the stock system image. Factory resets just wipe user settings, app data, and other stuff like that. It won't restore anything. If you want to do a reinstall, look into using Odin to flash back to stock. Just BE CAREFUL. Odin can brick you if you don't know what you're doing. Better off following the steps I outlined, or installing CWM and flashing a stock ROM. Again, the safest way to do what you want is what I previously posted.
if i updated through kies not a month or 2 ago and im using an australian SGS GT I9K 16BG with optus what would i be running (eg...gingerbread, Eclair, Kernal, Froyo)?
just get an market apk file n install

ok i have fixed everything with odin...i followed it word for word and was really simple 2 downloads and 5 mins and im now on 2.3 gingerbread with all stock apps....used pathikshah .com/blog/install-android-2-3-3-gingerbread-on-samsung-galaxy-s/
I deleted my the Phone.apk file on my rooted Galaxy Player 4.0 (YP-G1CWY/XAA) running the stock rom awhile back to save on battery life.
I have done the same thing on my Nook Color, and figured that it wouldn't cause any problems, as the Player isnt a phone.
Recently tried to record some video, and found I was unable to do so. After doing some research I found out that deleting phone.apk causes the stock camera app, but not 3rd party camera apps, to stop functioning.
While I was sure to backup the file when I originally deleted the file, the backup has been lost in the intervening months.
Do I just need to find a specific phone.apk file for my device and return it to the correct directory?
I assume a factory reset will solve the problem, but I would rather not try that unless I have to.
Thanks!
a factory reset will not solve the problem, since it was a system .apk it will reset everything except for that particular apk.

In which case do I need to track down a copy of that specific apk or will I need to download odin and perform a full recovery?
put back the phone.apk file back on your device. Go to a ROM(best if its that ROM you are using) Find the phone.apk, and take it out. Then transfer it into your device, and use Root Explorer or something and put back phone.apk.
i dont think that will work because i uninstalled the screencapture.apk from my 5.0 and i backed it up so i tried to reinstal and it would not let me... but try aznflawless' way first if not you may want to flash a stock based rom...

This seemed to work for me!
I tried looking in various roms before, but they were all formatted for flashing with odin.
I should have just went straight for the cwm package. *slaps forehead*
Thanks so much!
i shall try that sir thanks
As others said... find the phone.apk... preferably from the same rom you are using... use RootExplorer and copy the phone.apk to the system/apps folder. Change the permissions to match the other apps in that folder... reboot and you are good to go.
For your future reference, it is not a good idea to delete system apps without knowing what they actually do... I think you made a real good guess since phone.apk should not be on a device that is actually not a phone by function. For example, the Android Market app is actually called phonesky.apk or vendor.apk... nothing like what you would normally guess it to be, such as market.apk or something to that matter. So if I were you and I wanted to keep using my device and not brick it, I would becareful what I delete out of /system and it's sub folders...
Good luck...

this is a thread from august of 2012. please dont go digging through old threads and posting on them
After being stupidly led to believe I could flash this "V2.4 STOCK THEMED LSD ODEXED", from this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37186930, & having done a nandroid backup, I can no longer use the phone!!
I have no settings/dialler/contacts/messaging now, after restoring backup when flashing the mod resulted in bootloop!
I've tried using Titanium Backup to restore contacts & messaging but it just hangs! I even tried to install the apks from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969991, but they start to install then say not installed!?
What's happened & how can I fix it without having to flash stock rom all over again & lose everything?
Anyone?

You have to make a full wipe of your phone in Recovery mode. Then you can just restore /data partition from the Nandroid backup to keep all your apps.
I also suggest you fully unroot by re-flashing your stock firmware and re-root if any problem persists after trying the option i've written above.
Good luck!

Didn't you try to restore the whole backup already? If you did and it didn't work then you cant restore your full Nandroid since something has gone corrupt.
What kernel are you on?
To restore /data is usually this way but depends on kernel, which is why i asked you
Go to 'Backup and Restore' and then 'Advanced restore/Custom restore job' and press on /data option.

Stock kernel!
Could I not copy both backups to pc, factory reset in settings, re-root, then flash backup!? as both backups (one done today & one last month!) can't be corrupt surely!?

Dude, you can't do much on stock kernel. you can't flash anything from stock kernel.
I suggest you remove everything and fully unroot your device by re-flashing stock firmware (and wipe data/cache etc)
Now flash a custom Kernel and then you can flash custom firmwares.

Well if you want to flash something like you tried to do before - you will need a custom kernel (which includes a custom recovery). With stock recovery you can't do much..

I just flashed latest samfirmware with mobile odin & wiped dalvik cache & kept root in the process & all is good again!
The only problem I've got now , which is one I've had in the past & forgotten how to resolve, is that I kept having a force close with rom toolbox pro, so I uninstalled & tried to reinstall my backup in Titanium Backup, but it just hangs!? I tried reinstalling it again after downloading the apk backup I have on my laptop, but it won't install coz it says there's insufficient space & tries to redirect me to apps manager in settings!
There is enough space (414mb internal memory/8.45gb internal sd/ & 27gb ext sd), as I've installed the light version straight from play store!! Any ideas on this??
Oh & I have CWM recovery.zip for recovery!
THNX!

Weird never had such issue. Try to delete it's data from application manager in settings then uninstall and re-install it again. Also, search for a odex file for rom toolbox pro in /data/app. If it's there - delete it.

Yeh, I tried all of that thnx! Got it resolved in the end, I'd already done everything you've just suggested & it worked!
So in the end, I used Mobile Odin Pro to wipe dalvik cache, enabled EverRoot, then enabled Inject Superuser & flashed last stock rom for my region from Samfirmware over the top of my corrupted rom, then all was good in the world again!
Thnx for your support m8, I should have known better but the alliance mods in the link of my first post were too good to resist, but I should have tried on deodex & not odex firmware, MY BAD!!

Also a pro-tip if you want, otherwise just ignore this:
You can flash the absolutely latest stock firmware compatible with your device even if it's not for your region

Hey guys!
I am new here and this is my first thread
I am having a big problem. I already had installed Xposed Installer. 1 week before a error appeared that unfortunately Systemui has stopped and when I rebooted my mobile systemui(status bar, recent apps etc.) was lost. I removed that systemui from the system folder and put the systemui of which I recently had made a backup but still it did not work My system is odexed and there is not any file naming systemui.odex. I think this is the problem but I don't know that how this file was deleted. I have tried all the things but none worked :'( I also tried putting systemui.apk and systemui.odex of another device in my mobile but it also did not work. I am having backup rom of my mobile but I don't know how to flash as I don't have CWM or TWRP installed.
PLzzzzzzz help me how can I restore my SYSTEMUI.
I am using GFIVE BRAVO A5 running android 4.2.2. My phone is rooted.
ODEXED
You mentioned in your post that you had an odexed rom installed, what did you use to flash that rom?
What device are you having this problem on?
Stock Rom
I haven't flashed my rom. I have stock rom installed and stock rom is odexed.
Stock rom installed
I haven't flashed my rom. I have stock rom installed and stock rom is odexed.
I am having this problem in my mediatek device namely GFIVE BRAVO A5 running JB 4.2.2. I am having 3.5 inch device.
I'm not familiar with the brand of the device and the searches I have looked around for don't seem too legit to me, so all I can say is to search around and find something that can help, perhaps an update to the device that might contain it or a full of backup of the phone wich contains the files you are looking for. Other than that all I can say is to try a factory reset and don't mess with your devices system folder unless you know what you're doing.
You can look at this for reference maybe: all-flash-file.blogspot.com
Hard resetted
I have hard resetted my mobile more than 10 times but still no effect took change
And the link you posted, when I opened it And clicked the download button, a message appeared saying that the link will be available for your IP in 24 hours.
Probably a hard reset wont work because a hard reset only resets the user data. In your case, its with the system. It is either you reflash stock rom or push a stock system ui and its odex file.:angel::angel:

You need to either reflash the system, or find TWRP flashable zip of your current OS, extract it and copy the items you deleted. Or you can try editing build.prop and change "ro.setupwizard.mode" value to "DISABLED". It might work after reboot

maybe u deleted the setup files that we use after booting a new rom or killed the launcher.
Just copy the files u deleted by recovery or reflash ur built in rom.

do u have ur stock rom?
if yes..
Then..
1)extract your rom with any archiver software.
ex-winrar,zarchiver
for pc - winzip etc
(pro version recommended)
There's an app called setup wizard.
(it depends on your rom.
On samsung stock its samsung setup wizard, on cm its cyanogenmod setup wiz)
U will see something like that on your
rom/system/app or priv-app/here
copy that one to ur phone's root/system/app or priv-app
exactly where its located on ur stock rom.
(u need a root explorer software to put that in ur system)
Easiest way is find ur stock rom and flash it.
If u r new to this things, get help from somebody who knows.
