Is there a way to replace this damn button with a line space? My old BlackBerry even had this feature.
I used this keyboard, but all the return button did was send the message...
Is there a legit way to replace the smiley button with line space? And still use the stock SMS app?

I cannot stand this godforsaken button! On the QWERTY keyboard, next to the FN key, there's a TXT key, and if say i'm typing in AIM or something, i accidentally press that damn key, and it takes me out of whatever i might be doing to my txt messages! SOOOOOOOO annoying!

I hear on the ATT Fuze that the key doesn't do anything. lucky..
I don't know how but I know it can be done. I installed a neuROM which allows you to configure all those keyboard hot-keys in the Setup->Buttons page. It must be a reg setting or something. Post here if you find it, because I am probably going back to stock ROM and would like to be able to config those as I can with neuROM.
I would like to change that key to an OK button, just like my P4000 had.

Alright, I HATE Swype, and basically all keyboards under WinMo except for the default full QWERTY. I hit the stupid keyboard open/close button ALL THE TIME when trying to hit the space bar, and I am tired of it. Is there any way to completely remove or otherwise disable this button? Thanks to anyone who can help.
I too am very frustrated when I just want to hide the keyboard and instead a popup appears to choose form other keyboard types :-/
Is it possible to only use the QWERTY keyboard without any other to choose from?
Or Just assign only show/hide keyboard function to that button...
I got used to touch the button on the left side, but anyway I would love to disable this feature as well.

I hate the smiley key, but love the cm9 ics messaging app and keyboard. I'm currently using go sms pro in which the ics keyboard has an enter/ new line key instead of the smiley key. Is it possible to somehow get this key to replace the smiley one in the stock app? Thanks
Note. I also really like the the touchwiz sms app, and it does have the enter key, is there an apk i could download that would work on CM9 (im assuming if you extracted it from stock samsung leaked XXKP8 or XXPKPA It woud work.
I think you have to decrypt (or something like this) the extracted apk, so for now use a market keyboard...
However, I sometimes use go keyboard, which has enter key (if you long press the smile button) and when i press it, it just sends the sms!
I like the default keyboard too

yeah, i heard you had to decompile the mms apk and remove / edit a line, but i dont know how to decompile
As for market keyboard, i dont really love any, i much prefer the stock ics keyboard

Search the Market for Keyboard from Android 2.3 by Steven Lin..its just the stock keyboard but it has the Enter key by default and you just hold the Return/Enter key and it brings up the smilies

it changes to the smiley in the messeges app, but cm9 now has an option to what the soft key is
First specs Neo's AOKP, swype or stock keyboard no "enter" key only smileys when in sms (stock/handcent) app
Ok I'm pretty sure I'm just not finding it. There has to be a setting to enable/disable the stupid smiley key and get the enter/return key back.

Probably not.
Different apps can tell the keyboard to show or hide certain keys.
I'm gonna pull the stock keyboard and post here..aokp/cm are to small
