On the OG4G (Evo) i recorded a vid with a song playing and it recorded w/ uber latency and the music would stutter a bit BUT.....it did it.
At this time I told myself "I'll need dual-core for this to work efficiently."
However, Now that I hold the 3VO in my hands I am baffled because it won't do it PERIOD.?????
this sucks ass but it is not a deal breaker by the slightest bit, but the OG4G can @ least do it w/ less than desirable results.
I have a feeling that the 3VO can pull it off damn near seamlessly and Although it's rather menial I'd love to see the dev's here pull it off it's not a demand it would just be cool and make a lot of broke ass video producers happy LOL
chek out my broke ass video I did on my OG4G http://bit.ly/o4iF5p
and you can search threads of ppl w/ not-so-smart(phones) in the forums w/ the same issue but it's kinda lame that a beast like 3D cant do it.IMO
BUMP. I hope a Dev chimes in and see if this could be done. This would really be a good addition to a music artist smartphone.

I think its because the camera app uses those shutter sounds dat take priority over music apps..

the phone is completely capable of doing this, processing-wise, the problem is the two the apps interfere with each other in a way that causes the system to not be able to handle it.
it takes very little processing capability to simply play an mp3 file...

I know right. I haven't really played with my cam to much besides the 3D aspect of it, but after installing the bit rate mod for the cam apk I finally gave it a go. I have nothing else to say but I'm very satisfied with the end results of my videos. Capturing audio from a mp3 while recording would just open up the book of creativity and add to the endless list of possibilities that this phone is capable of. We need to find a way to get this thread more attention.

Bump this thread like the .apk I wouldn't want to record the mp3 playing but the cam should be able to do both simultaneously without a hitch then I'll import the audio on a PC l8tr.

its like im there with you.
Get to view it on split screen when viewed on regular Evo. Lol!
"Hell I don't know anymore"
I just had to trade my 3vo in for a new one and this new one has these little sense crashes where sense will restart sometimes, or little lockups.
Anyone else notice this? If not, does anyone knows of a ram test app or something similar?
Yup happens once in a blue moon here as well

ah. well might just be sense 3. i didnt run the ota on the new one i got, so maybe that is what the ota is.
nope mine does it with the ota
I've had it happen 3 or 4 times.

I'm a music producer and Android loVA and I have suggestions 4 those like me.until Flstudio mobile gets ported the only hope we have is a little app called caustic
(get it from the market it's free)
If you haven't seen this thing move out of ur cave it's sweet as hell.
I personally use a few apps to make music:
tapemachine-sampler
Electrum drum machine-isn't it obvious
Caustic-sequencer/synth
All of these apps are very interoperable on a 1GHz chip or better although memory may be a factor as well.
I need a decent sample editor (not recorder)
That will enable me to "chop" up mp3 songs (ringdroid is a fluky alternative)
Maybe even a kontakt/fruity slicer-esque utility would do.once again these are suggestions any dev's reading please take it as consumer thoughts and opinions. Seeing that iOS caters more to the mobile musicians than Android I feel that this fact should brought into the light
Check out my Droid anthem.. http://snd.sc/ju3mAU ..I made it on my OG4G
Please share the song amongst our fellow nerds.
Feel free to post ur suggestions as well

****UPD8****
Just got SPC Music sketchpad and it has some kind of openSL audio interface that reduces L8-n-c and overall this is showing the progress bein made on the android platform. It can also sample and slice loops. This ****s on every music app out there with the exception if caustic. I'll be making music on my phone until I get another hard drive cuz my current one is acting fluky.
Or you can say "oh-gee!!!4G" how about "oji foji" for the Japanese variant (htc evo4g+)

I need an app that can record the speaker but in the mean time a you tube downloaded would fulfill some needs but it's numerous ways to download songs for sample material

Hi, niko twenty here.
Actually I do have an app for chopping MP3's, it's called "Sonic Chop Sample Ripper"...it doesn't do a bunch of fancy stuff yet right now but it will chop and get the BPM's for you.

Niko you are the man. I'm buying this. And I use ur app Reloop as a miniDAW. As a customer I think it should be marketed as that. I know that latency is a pain so asking for a record button on each track is far fetched I guess?

Just wondering if anyone else gets a jerking motion while watching video from htc watch. I get a steady jerking about ever 1.5 seconds. It is not download speed as the movies in question have fully downloaded. This is quite annoying when using phone to watch movies on my tv.

Depends on what kind of movie I'm watching. =P
Jerking every 1.5 seconds sounds pretty serious.
You might want to limit the steady jerking...might mess up your wrist.
(Sorry I couldn't help it.) LOL!
Well, I left it wide open.
I don't see the jerking/pausing on recorded video. I'm gonna transfer a video from my computer and try to diagnose.

probably out of batteries take a to a watch maker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
It could be the be your connection or just a fluke. I know that sometimes I get jerks on bad connections because of buffering when it comes to video and stuff like that. If its not the connection it could just be the phone isn't keeping up with the buffering if its a downloaded movie. like how it happens on comps time to time.
I have seen a couple of videos on here where they were recorded in slow motion and those videos looked great, however, I have tried a few times and they always come out looking really bad. (grainy, and blurry). I have tried with all the settings left on auto and also setting things up manually as well (like white balance and ISO).
Is there settings that I am missing to make these videos look as good as they do while recording at normal speed?
Here is the link to the video I shot:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjcqQhUIJq0
Also does the camera not record in HD while doing Slow Motion?
I can't help you on making it look better but it doesn't record in HD. The ending resolution ends up being 768 x 432.

Yeah I agree and have the same problem. I have a pitbull and an American bulldog and love recording them playing. Nice dog by the way. The only toys I can buy my boys are Kongs like your dog is playing with, the toy they can't destroy.

It's probably the light. I think the only reason it goes to HD on the youtube video is because the beginning part might be in HD. I still see the grainy lines on the youtube video and in the slow motion videos I shoot.

I think it's HD on YouTube because the user had to edit it on the computer. (Add music) so I think he saved it in a way that YouTube thought it was HD.
I've noticed that I have to edit files in order for YouTube to have a HD option even though the phone records in HD and saves it as a .MP4.

There is a camera setting. If you touch the "A" you will see the option
Sent from my HTC EVO 4G LTE
Yeah, the camera does not do HD for slow motion, due to the significantly higher data rates the camera must sustain to do slow motion. It's essentially recording at 120fps or so, which is four times the speed it would record at otherwise. To record in HD, it would require four times the bandwidth and processing power that it does at normal speed.
I've had this phone since it came out and never knew it has that setting.
What is "HDR"?

Are you buying the Kong extreme? They are black and they last forever.

I think the slip and slide video was edited on a computer. Unless the EVO LTE can do the stop motion at the beginning of the video as well.
So he may have done the slo mo with a computer too.

There are other phones using android that CAN do slow motion HD recording. I assume that this is a software limitation on HTC's part rather than a hardware limitation as the camera on this phone is quite impressive to say the least. Even with my limited knowledge of the inner workings of the android software I would venture to guess that this can at least be brought to 720p slow motion recording. However a speedier SD card may be needed. Man I wish I knew how to dig into Android, I want this camera to be BEAST!
