anyone have similar problem. Despite chapters playing on my MAC, when I transfer the same files over to the tab, it loses the chapters. Not a major issue, but just wondering why this is. In my itunes player it works with chapters yet the same file won't pick up the chapters....anyone shed any light or experiencing the same problem?

Hey guys,
So I was wondering if anyone else thinks the video player on the Vibrant is really lacking in terms of functionality. The device says that it can play .avi files (and then some) but when I download files from my PC to the phone (I transferred a few episodes of The Simpsons and Pixar's UP), it simply says "Unsupported Filed Type".
Does anyone else have this problem? I've also tried downloading official .divx files (movie trailers) from divx.com that I know should work on the Vibrant, but it still doesn't.
Now, I've downloaded RockPlayer and all those files that couldn't be played with the stock video player now plays perfectly. Now, what am I missing here? It's not an issue with my particular phone right? Additionally, if the phone is marketed as a multimedia phone that supports a wide variety of file types, it kind of sucks that it can't even play on the stock video player.
[PS. The files I transferred to my phone can play fine on a PS3, so the format should be correct, I believe]
Often the issue is a particular encoding or the resolution is too high. I use MediaCoder to do my conversions, because Rockplayer freezes occasionally on me.
The avi files in PC (usually downloaded from torrents) tend to be encoded with special codecs and not all players can play it. Even in the PC, if you don't have VLC player, some times they don't play in computer itself...
Convert them to supported formats before copying them to mobile.
Hey, just wondering if anyone else is seeing any Adobe Flash issues in this ROM? In general Flash seems to working ok. But what I'm seeing is significant Audio/Video sync problems using streamed media from my Playon Media Server. Playon uses Flash to process its video stream content. I get the sync issue on both 3G and WiFi, so I'm sure it's not a network lag issue. And the longer the video the greater the slip in the A/V sync.
My phone didn't have this sync issue before KangBang was installed. My wifes phone is still running SC2.8 and doesn't have this problem, so it doesn't seem to be a transcoding issue in Playon either.
It's not the end of the world if this doesn't work. Just thought I'd see if anyone else was having similar issues or maybe knows of a tweak that might fix it.
TIA
So I am having some issues with my atrix. I am trying to watch movies off my hdmi and video and audio are both working. The only problem is that the sound is not in sync with the video. Do i need to convert the videos files in order to correct this issue or am i doing something wrong. Sorry if this question has already been posted but i couldn't find any info on it.
its not the phone. The problem is from the way you are converting it. Try a different program and see if that helps.

Have you played them on a PC to see what they look like?
What software are you using to create the videos?
What source are you using? (avi, wma, etc.)
Where is the source material coming from?
If they are out of sync on another device/computer, then it rules out the phone.
yeah I have, the play fine on my windows media player. I downloaded them via torrent and they play fine on my laptop. They are .AVI files and I already trouble shooted them all on my phone. They all seem to do the same thing. windows media player plays them just fine. My atrix plays them too but the sound doesnt go in sync with the actors voices.
I really dont think its the phone, I just think its the software in the phone that is causing it. I have tried other players on android market and they do the same thing.
I did not convert the files to mp4 or mkv files. Im thinking that this is the issue. Its just a drag to convert them since it takes so long to do the conversion.
Wow, what a couple of weeks of learning about android OS. I've got my X2 tweaked, but continue to have one major problem: Video playback.
I am wondering if I have had problems because of my file transfer process? I am using window 7, 64 bit tethered to x2 in order to write files to the 32g sdcard-ext which I added to my phone. I keep getting playback error on mp4 files. I have now installed vlc player app because vlc player decodes EVERYTHING on my laptop, but i continue to get the same error.
Interesting, I loaded the winamp app and plugged my phone into the laptop. Winamp noticed the droid from my laptop. I then transferred dozens of mp3 files, even converting some FLAC which took longer but still transferred with no problem playing back when the device is disconnected (USB). When I look around with root explorer, I see that these files have been dropped onto the internal memory of the x2, not the mounted 32g sd-card (sdcard-ext). Using Windows 7 with x2 tethered I dropped an mp3 audiobook onto the sdcard-ext, folder Music and was unable to find the file when the x2 is disconnected.
My question: Am I having problems because of the way in which I am writing the files to the sdcard-ext ? If so, what process do I need to follow in order to properly transfer mp3, mp4, vlk, avi to the mounted sd card for playback through winamp (audio) and vlc (video)? Thanks in advance to all who reply.
Try rockplayer from the market, its free but has a red watermark that disappears after a short while. It plays everything I have thrown at it so far on my DROID Incredible.
Rockplayer Lite
Thanks for the advice. I d/led rockplayer lite and was successful in viewing an mp4 written to my 32g sd card, again transfered with the phone tethered USB using Windows 7. The video playback is a bit choppy...kinda suprising considering the dual core.
In regards to other file formats, getting error:
"Can't open mnt/sd-card-ext/Movies/x.avi to play"
and
"Can't open mnt/sd-card-ext/Movies/x.mkv to play"
I'm starting to believe I have some sort of problem with the SD card mount? That would cause slowed performance, wouldn't it? It is a Kingston 32g microSD. Any known performance issues with the card? Any idea on my issues with avi and mkv?
Personally I think the sd card being the issue is barking up the wrong tree. Different SD cards have different classes which it was a while ago but I was told they mean different speeds. But even a slower one shouldn't cause an issue.
I play MKV files on my rockplayer, so I know that one works, and avi is common enough that it should too. Possible issues might be if the video quality is too high you might just not have the RAM, but I don't know how it crashes when that is the case or what happens. But keep in mind the X2 isn't a heavy hitter in that department.
One option you can try is switching between Hardware Decoding mode settings (in the top layer of menu structure). I had issues with my mkv files where it would crash sometimes, so I would flip that setting and most of the time it would solve that particular instance (ran into one case out of six 22 minute shows where neither worked). But I was generally IN the video first before that happened.
You can also try and contact RockPlayer (or better see if they have an FAQ first) and see what solutions that brings.
UPDATE
Thank you all for your help. Okay, I have rockplayer lite working somewhat on mp4, but I have a horrible lag in audio...like 9 seconds and the video is still jerky. No love on the mkv and avi as of yet. Still working it. As far as the lag issue, I opened up advance task killer to kill almost all operations before playing back...still a horrible audio lag and jerky video.
I appreciate the feedback on the SD card as I was kinda just firing into the dark, but I saw a program SD BOOSTER which claims to speed transfer rates...it also has a warning that it could glitch my SD card, so I am leary. What do you mean that the X2's strong point isn't video process?
Try MoboPlayer.

Well, after pulling out half my hair, I took a zoom out approach. Wrote video and audio to another 8gig microSD card I have. BAM . rock player and mixster ripping through avi and mp4 video. Winamp seems to be finding all mp3 but no FLAC support on winamp app as of yet. Now I have to chase down the guy who sold me this 32gig Kingston.

Just got the S3 couple days ago and I have a problem with WIFI Streaming at home.
Previously, I have been using the Transformer to stream large video files over wifi without having any issues.
On the S3, I have tried ES File, and File manager to stream videos and transfer files that are over 500MB. Streaming stopped at various times and transferring large files always stopped at some point and eventually crashed the transfer. I don't know what's the issue is and WIFI seems to be stable and I never had an issue in regards to losing connection.
When the video is played, it would load to certain point, and then when the video reached that point, it would stopped.
This happened on MX Player and the default video player.
No problem at all when the same video is played from internal memory.
Transferring and streaming small files such as MP3 seems to be ok.
WIFI is set to always on during sleep.
I even tried to *#0011# method to turn off WIFI power save mode.
Anyone knows what the issue is?
THANK YOU!
Anyone able to help?
Can someone please help? Thank you!!
Same video streaming issues. problem details.
Hi.
I'm just a week into Android OS but have good knowledge of Windows and networks.
I bought a Sammy 7" Tab 2 (ICS) last week and liked it so much, I gave it to my wife and got a Samsung 7.7 (Honeycomb). So, I have both OS's to play with. Both are WiFi only. Both have the same problem.
I have a large collection of old movies & tv (w/o DMR) on my W7 desktop's hard drives. I can copy the files via USB or over WiFi using "ES File explorer" with no problems. Once the files are on the tablets local drives, xvid, avi, wmv, mkv, and mp4 all play perfectly.
If I stream the video, using "ES File explorer", wmv and mp4 files play fine, but the other formats don't. I've tried Mobo and 2 other players with the same results. Most of my library is in xvid format. I can covert them, but that's a nutty solution.
Anyone have the same problem? Better yet, understand why and have a solution?
Richard
