i've been on my minor tweaked version of the stock ROM and haven't had either of these issues, "random reboots and screen freezes".
does any certain set of actions on the device trigger the screen freeze or random reboot?
if you have a custom ROM loaded at the moment, perhaps check that specific ROM developer thread for similar reported issues?
if the custom ROM developer/thread can't offer any specific help, i'd test the device on a stock ROM to make sure it isnt hardware related.
if you experience these issues on the stock ROM, i would think it might be hardware related.
technical route: if you want to dive deeper into the issue, after a random reboot, can pull the /proc/last_kmsg to if the kernel debug output shows anything helpful regarding the reboot .. *sometimes* it contains the reason and can help troubleshoot, especially if it is a custom kernel, that last_kmsg file will help the developer.
sorry to hear about the random reboots and screen freezing .. those are definitely some of the worst issues to experience. hope the troubleshooting steps and technical details help!

That is just Sprint pushing out a working PRL since they sent out a messed up one last week that caused 3G to be non-existent.

Hopefully I Won't, But Realistically...
The next time I have a Reboot, or a Screen Freeze, What/How can I find out what caused it?
Can it be done with Root Explorer Searching through System Files?
Oh Yeah, and Thanks by the way!
Battery monitor widget with a 10 second logging will help you rule out temp and voltage. Plus, it's free and simple.
Also, make sure you have all of your system on the newest revisions. I went from unstable to stable after really evaluating that I had the correct versions of price, radio, rpm patch, and rom. HTC fixed something in those items that my phone desperately needed to have fixed!

Are these Versions Outdated?
I just Flashed Freeza's Kernel, Not Sure if that matters? It was this one (Updated4a.zip)
I was just about to post about this. My Inspire 4G is randomly shutting off mostly when making a call or taking a flash picture.
Ive updated to Android Revolution HD No-Sense where all the problems started. I've also installed latest ClearDroid and now im on Stock rooted+hsupa+sideloading.
Extra info: I used the hack ace to obtain s-off and Sim Unlock. My network is Claro
Any help would be greatly appreciated

This is just a stock rooted ROM with Busybox and Superuser. The ROM is de-odex'ed and contains no firmware.
Based on Vigor VERIZON WWE 2.01.605.11 OTA.
This is great for those that want to learn to Dev or those that just want a stock rooted ROM to mod to there own choosing.

Any idea whether existing mods from the pre-OTA ROM (4-in-1 power menu; rosie mods and settings pull-down) will have to be updated before plugging them into this ROM? (My head says yes, but my heart says "why do I have to wait?")
Scott,
Are you going to use this as a base for gb cleanrom?
Any benefits in using this the radio, kernel, etc from this ota?
Any major changes?
Thx.
is this 2.01.605.11?
Well, I can tell you I tried them both, flashed both at once and went into bootloop. Not sure which one or if both caused it. I had to nandroid back to get back going......

What version number is the radio from the latest push from verizon. Is the radio number . 1.02.605.11 THANKS. Never mind I figured it out, it is the baseband version number that is the radio . We cant update the radio . Is this correct.
Scott,
Thanks for all your hard work, I have a request if you have the time. Can you make a 5 app drawer mod for the new OTA update? This would be great for the ones of wanting to stay semi stock.....

How can I flash this after I have been running this [ROM] - 1/25 - CleanROM 2.2 SP1 -=ICS Edition=- ? I flash it and then when I reboot I just get a black screen and it does nothing. I then flash back to [ROM] - 1/25 - CleanROM 2.2 SP1 -=ICS Edition=- so I can use my phone.

I put the TeamHackSung ICS 6.5 rom on my Fascinate, and then installed the Glitch v1.4 beta 5 kernel. Found that my 3G no longer would connect. I looked through the dev thread, and in post #5 saw, "Signal won't work, this kernel is GSM, your fascinate is CDMA" (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459530&highlight=glitch+v14)
That sounds pretty definitive that you can't use this Glitch kernel with the Fascinate, yet I could have sworn I've read about others using it. Am I misunderstanding something here?

Humph. That certainly makes sense, given that the Glitch thread is in the Fascinate forums...but why did someone say there's a CDMA vs GSM problem?
Lemme try reinstalling it, after first doing another Nandroid backup.
Is the kernel that comes with TeamHackSung ICS 6.5 rom available, so that I don't have to fuss with Nandroid if I need to revert from Glitch?
just reflash the rom but dont wipe data.
Nope...got the same result. No 3G access.

Groan...I'll have to put off starting over for a bit; I don't have time right now to set up everything again. And I'm a bit worried about "reactivate your current device" since, per my other thread, I'm unable to get a dial pad when calling *228.
the problem is you flashed the glitch b4 for 6.0 instead of the b4 6.1 version. If you read my guide it clearly states which version to flash. Also that link you posted is for the TELUS Fascinate NOT the Verizon Fascinate...
Well, I flashed with the b5 for 6.1 version, and while the 3G worked, I ended up with the unable-to-Nandroid-backup bug. Since the only remedy I could find (clear the cache and Dalvik) didn't help, I've gone back to the kernel that came with TeamHackSung ICS. I'll keep an eye posted to see if future Glitch versions manage to fix the backup bug. Thanks for all the help.

S'pose that's a workaround, although it makes the noob in me a bit nervous to keep flashing part of the OS like that.

Glitch gives you the ability to overclock up to 1500mhz... also in call audio is clear and alot more crisp than the stock kernel...the bug where you have to always adjust the volume down on every call is fixed aswell. I also like the glitch recovery alot better...you can wipe cache and dalvik at the same time.

Yes, thanks, someone told me that on another thread. To summarize:
To activate phone or update roaming without a keypad:
*22890 ---> This will program/activate your phone.
*22891 ---> This will update your roaming capabilities.
No need to hit other buttons after dialing. Let it finish, and reboot your phone.
You can also try dialing star 228 and then hit the menu button and add 8 or 10 2-second pause to it... It will look like this: *228,,,,,,,,,1

Here ya go.
You don't really "need" the bootloaders before flashing glitch, but you should definitely have them to minimize any issues. Also, if you like BLN, I would flash B4 as opposed to B5, it's not working quite right on the latest beta.

hello all,
i have followed entropy512's thread here to get my at&t samsung galaxy s2 rooted with stock settings...i then wanted clockworkmod recovery so i went to this and followed directions to get everything installed...everything was ok and working until a few weeks ago when the 'Check Update' option under Setting stopped working...
basically what happens is when i goto Settings-> Software Update->Check for updates->Hit OK (Check the AT&T server for new software update?) a dialog comes up that says 'Checking for software updates...' and nothing happens...i have left the phone over night with device management app checking for software updates... when this used to work, it took less than 1 minute to check...
finally, the only way for me to stop this is to go and force stop Device Manager under Applications->All, so before i restore the phone to factory, i was wondering if anyone knows what might be the issue here?
Thanks,
FI

OTA updates require factory recovery. I'm a bit hazy on the details but I believe CWM, in short, replaces that.
It might also be because you either turned off/uninstalled or inadvertently removed factory bloatware.

Do you recall all the issues with UCKK6 Gingerbread? That was an AT&T release. The devs had to tear it apart to debug and try to fix it. Any build will have bugs in it. But generally, custom firmwares will have fewer bugs than AT&T firmware.

if my research that i conducted a while ago is right, then basically samsung has implemented a flash counter which increments each time you flash a custom, non-stock rom...it might also be applied to non-stock kernels/firmwares as well (im not too sure)...so to prevent the flash counter from ever incrementing, ill need to put the phone in download mode using the jig and continue from there...

This is wrong. It is only incremented when you use ODIN to flash nonstock items. CWM has no bearing on flash counters.

You have some bad information...but I have some good news for you.
The flash counter only counts the number of times you've flashed a custom kernel in download mode via Odin. Using CWM to flash anything can't touch the flash counter. Same goes for Mobile Odin. I've been rooted and flashing for months, I don't have a jig, and my counter is still at zero.

Any GB issues only surfaced if you updated to 2.3.6. 2.3.4 for a "stock" firmware was pretty awesome. I'm on the latest ICS leak from ATT (LD4) and aside from the emmc bug (I'm using a safe kernel so I don't have it) IMHO its more complete then CM9 was. I stopped using CM9 at the end of May and don't miss it at all now.

My question was if I am able to switch to one of the older ROMS like NuSense ROM or UnSense ROM or anyone for that matter that I feel like. I know the process of flashing since I have gotten this far, but I don't want to flash these and then be in some sort of loop with problems.. Thanks in advance:good: Also are radios universal or.. I keep seeing people say just try a different one?
You can flash any ROM you like.
As for radios, look in the post about the ROM, they usually specify what radio is best for that ROM. The newest radio is defiantly needed for the new crop of ICS ROMs based on the official OTA as the older radios cause issues.
Only thing I can add to the first response... Always make a backup first. So when you somehow get into a bad flash/bootloop situation, you have an easy way back to a working device. Also verify your download by checking it's md5 code before you flash. Almost (if not all) files you download will have it listed with the download link on the forum op you're getting it from.

Thanks guys! I'm currently using thundershed v1.6 CM7 bc I am a BIG fan of CM. I have run into some issues with data and wifi though.. All of the sudden they stop working and I have to reboot and then they work again.. Maybe its the phone not sure..

It's not your phone but the Rom itself. That's a known issue with cm roms on this phone.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
This ROM has been tested and retested...IF your wanting tweaks etc DO NOT FLASH OR ASK FOR THEM THERE ARE OTHER ROMS WITH YOUR WANTS AND DESIRES,DO NOT USE ANY PART OF THIS ROM WITHOUT PERMISSION, IF your wanting to use another kernel (99% stock is included) etc,DONT ASK HERE IF ISSUES ARISE (ASK THE KERNEL DEV) Folks who use this want a clean stable ROM.
Whats in this:
Nothing fancy...Just a clean stable build:
Official release
Debloated
Speed tweaks
Battery tweaks
CIQ Removed

So anyone else try this?
Weird issue, I no long have the option to access my phone from a computer. It just charges. Same issue with 3 cables on 2 computers. Tried multiple USB ports too. Normally a box would pop up asking how you wanted to treat the connection. Now nothing comes up. Flashed rom 3 times, full wiping it once. Worked fine before flashing this rom. Anyone else having this issue?
Know the issue uploading fixed build now...Apologies folks

I may start playing with some Sense 8 things for this device...maybe...
Dumb question... Does this update the firmware. I ask because for ViperOne, you have to update the firmware before you flash the rom.
No and if flashed a euro firmware.. I suggest you RUU back to ATT version.. Have been issues if this is not done with signal issues.

Since this is an official release, is it safe to flash when S-on?
I still have all the boat after flashing. You got rid of it?
I got so used to dang Sammy phones. My HTC is rooted, but can someone point me to a quick tut on how to ROM flash? I have this file downloaded & ready to go. Thanks in advance!

I was impatient and flashed atop the international 3.35 firmware. Everything flashed fine and came back up. But it certainly was glitchy. I definitely do not recommend doing it this way.
Dont see why not..testers were s-on

Debloated all the extra things from att yes..few apps are required for other apps to function correctly...Anything else you want to remove do so at own risk of breeaking other things...if you did not do a wipe and dirty flashed it does not remove bloat.Removed 252mb of ATT bloatware...And since coming or going to the euro builds they will not work properly with ATT in many aspects just an fyi..Some folks use the apps I left in which is minimal listed below.
Caller Name ID
KeyVPN
Kid Mode
News Republic
Polaris Office
