Can someone fix the vpn issue on StreakDroid 2.3 . Vpn was working fine on streakdroid 1.9.1.
has anyone tried the simple streak vpn fix method ......
What vpn issue? I've had this Rom installed for 1 week found issues with browsers, some games and so removed it. Otherwise worked well and battery was superb. I remember I didn't have issues with vpn. Please be more specific by describing your issue in detail.

when i try to connect with vpn on wifi, phone connects fine with dj steve's streakdroid 1.9.1 but doesn't connect while using either the simple streak 1.2 or Streakdroid 2.3 . i tried using the vpn fix method for simple streak but it doesn't work on StreakDroid 2.3 . i really want to keep 2.3 because of it's superb audio but have to keep on switching back to 1.9.1 to use vpn.

Any one found a good internet tethering app? It can be wireless or usb, both would be good. I'm rooted. I've seena few apis on the market but wondered if anyone had a good one they would recommend

i have only use Barnacle, free from market... that works
not tested it extensively though
Thanks, I'll check it out

Yeah Barnacle works. I tried a few others which didn't. On my 2.1 streak many reported no netfilter in the kernel and wouldn't run, but Barnacle worked fine.
Many thanks I checked it out. Unfortunately it does not do usb. I have pcs without wireless.
Don't want to use PDAnet, I might get a bluetooth dongle and use the barnacle app.

Get a wifi dongle, faster, more reliable, and can be had for about $10 (USD) if you poke around.
And +1 for Barnacle Legacy wifi - works great, perfect price!
any word on a usb tethering application yet?
I've tried the few that I worked with before and they all claim that there is no kernel support. Barnacle works great for wifi, but I tether my laptop from work and since I can't turn off SSID broadcast I would rather not have network security poking around asking where a rogue WAP came from.
Thanks ahead of time.
Running 2.1
build: 6941
I am using EasyTether right now while I am waiting for my home internet to be connected. Ive managed to get through many Gb of data (sorry phone provider). It is free but if you dont pay for it then you wont be able to access https:// sites after a while.
The easy tether is usb, I think

Would Barnacle allow the streak to connect to a home network? I've tried to use it but it only seems to use WEP encryption and I'd need it to use WPA.

Barnacle is for sharing your 3G connection over wifi, not connecting to wifi. The Streak should connect to your wifi with wpa just fine.
Barnacle seems to be blocked by AT&T so I can't get to in through the app store. Anyone have a link directly to the sdk??
http://github.com/szym/barnacle/downloads found it here!

Yes the Streak connects to the router but I wanted to be able to access the nas on my home network from the Streak, hoped Barnacle would facilitate that.
Thanks for the link! Was wondering why I could not find it...
Which version of Barnacle is recommended? There are two files there. And does one need root for this to work?
Thanks!
Bbarnacle does require your phone to be rooted. The two files might be two different update versions or for different android OS's (1.6, 2.1, etc.)
Barnacle providing only local access. aka no internet
Can someone help me to get my barnacle app working? I have a rooted Dell Streak running 1.6 US. The app connects to my laptop fine but it only allows local access. I tried looking through the FAQ and settings in the app but I can't find anything that would fix the issue.
Thanks!

I am using Steve's 1.5.1 since yesterday (but I had the same problem on the official 2.2 315). I can connect to a unencrypted PPTP VPN connection but after a few seconds the data stream is being cut off. No browsing, no e-mail, nothing.
That is exactly how it was with encrypted PPTP, but unencrypted PPTP connections should work fine. An HTC Desire running 2.2 works fine over the same VPN. Any ideas?
suspect you may need tun.ko module
I thought the tun.ko was only needed for OpenVPN? PPTP should work right out of the box, or am I wrong? Perhaps those ROM for other devices already have tun.ko in the right place? And there is no setting into which directory the tun.ko should go.

I connect to the streak fine but it says no internet on my wifi connector . I am using Hp g60 windows 7 64 bit. I know someone may have a fix for this , so could you guys helpa newb out?
Do you have another wireless device you can try the barnacle on? Another laptop maybe?
When i had 1.6, i had no problem ad-hocing my laptop to my streak.
Stupid question, but you're certain you can surf the web, FB, twitter, etc on your streak w/o problems?
I am on 2.2 318 now (Worth it many times over IMO), but had Barnacle working on rooted 1.6. I wish could remember the the versions.I had two different Barnacle .apk's on my SD card. One worked perfectly and the other didn't. Might want to search and try a little older version.
Good luck! There is always QDL Tool

How did you manage to fix this? I have the same problem.
I've installed the Blade WIFI fix app but it doesn't work most of the time even though it says attempting to fix.
same here.
I use the stock 2.1 rom and wifi is ok, FreeX10 Beta 4 and the wifi works and then after a whille becomes disconnected.
I tried Blade Wifi fix, wifi fixer, all from the android market and they all fix it maybe once or twice then wifi disconnects again.
For now, I have added power control widget to the homescreen and disable then enable to get wifi working.
I am using the Wifi to turn off with screen.
Bizzarely I have a ZTE Blade before running 2.2.1 and the wifi always worked flawlessly. Weird.
Wonder if its anything to do with WEP or WPA2?

Exactly the same problem.
I think its a cynanogen mod settings that was set to automatically disconnect or something like that. I can;t seem to find it.
The problem is, wifi is slow and constantly disconnects then you have to connect manually to it, which takes a while. Hopefully it would be fixed in the next update, because going online is just vital for our androids.
Check this
Thanks for the link. My problem isn't connecting to an enterprise network. It does connect but after a few hours will stay disconnected if your using WPA or WPA2. Using WEP (64bit or 128bit) the problem is still there. Only is works a few hours more before disconnecting. The only way to fix it is to disable Wifi and enable it.
Tried ZTE Blade wifi fix and all the others from the market. Same problem.
So definately some issue with the rom/wifi settings.
It's a phone issue.. oddly the x10 hates some routers.. it's is possible that you are having -wifi- clashes at work.
Does it do this only at work?
if yes.. then it's the router at work.
:severe edit
I'm using blade wifi fix.. no issue's what so ever.
wifi works well for my FreeX10 beta4
Well for me its good, but when u leave phone idle, it sadly disconnects to my modem and I have to reconnect, which takes like a minute.
It was fine before I switched to freex10 and its the only issue I found so far with it. I think I saw one of the settings in cyanogen... IM not sure. Help please

I know that X10 doesnt like hidden SSID. I have to create another SSID just for the X10. LOL.

I have to agree - I was having the same issue, the phone would drop out when it went to sleep and then wouldn't wake back up. I installed the blade wifi fix and it seems to bee all good.
Hi guys,
Apologies if there is an answer to this anywhere else on XDA but I had a decent look and was unable to find one.
I recently installed the MIUI mod as per the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079150
The mod looks great and I did not encounter any problems with the install however I now cannot connect to wifi. After entering in the passkey under wifi settings it simply goes through the cycle over and over of:
Connecting.... Obtaining IP address.... Disconnected.... Connecting.... etc.
Anybody know of a solution?
Thanks
I also had similar issues.. It will connect but frequently drop and while connected, the speed is ridiculously slow.. I wish i could find a solution.. 3g speeds are great and its not the wifi network causing the problem..

this happens to me with my router netgear (is a router issue). i need to reboot router in order to reconnect my defy to wifi. If you doesn't solve try to install latest miui.us 1.8.5, is newest and stable
Just installed 1.8.5 and still no dice. I am also going through a Netgear router so that may be the issue however reboot did not fix the problem for me.
Update:
Currently logged on to wifi at work with no problems at all so it must have something to do with the router. Is there anyway I can counter this by forwarding the IP address through a port or something?
Interestingly, I am also having the same problem with my bluetooth. My car stereo has bluetooth for hands free and I can instantly pair with this device but cannot connect to it. It again just gets stuck in a "Connecting...." loop but is never able to finish connecting.
Am I missing something simple or should I just give up on MIUI for the moment in favour of something else such as CM7...
I just updated my Desire and same issue.. any solurions?
Give CM7 A try... wait for a while... there will be an RC update with 2.3.5

i flash miui on my moto defy
you have tried the 2.3.5a stable? has no problem
It might have something to do with the base Android system you had before. I've read that flashing the Nordic sbf, then rooting it, full wipe (factory reset, cache, dalvik) and then install might fix your issues.

I had the same problem with CM7 RC1 (RC0 worked), with Barebones Froyo and now with MS2Ginger... It connects to the router...but the internet speed is really slow... I changed the router to G mode and nothing.
With MIUI 1.8.5 my wifi worked ok...
