In the car dock (home screen that comes up when the Atrix is connected to the car dock) there are two screens with a total of 10 application buttons available. On my current ROM (alien #4) 6 of these are taken by default apps that can't be removed. Is there a way of removing these? Or replacing the car dock app with one that has all the app buttons available for custom apps?
Use Car Home from the market. It's a great app. and does everything you need.

That's great, thanks. I installed Car Dock Home v3, which works really well. My only criticism is that the UI isn't particularly polished compared to the stock app, but the ability to get rid of the default apps more than makes up for this!

Is there a way to launch desk dock and car dock apps without d/l launcher pro or something else similar... I'm searching for a work around when the phone is plugged in USB.
You could try with tasker. For Example, the phone is in landscape mode AND the screen is locked (usually for phones used in cars) THEN start car mode?

Download anycut from the market and you can add a shortcut on your home screen for each one.
Why can't he add a Shortcut the normal way? Or what's so special about anycut?

because there's no shortcut for "Desk Home" (dock mode). It's only launched when you put the phone in a dock; using Any Cut will allow you to launch this mode with a simple shortcut.
This is exactly what I wanted!!!! Thanks!

You could just use the preinstalled Vlingo for a car dock application without using the car dock. It has an "InCar" mode
Has anyone tried Launcher Pro on the Photon 4G?
Side note i have use it on all my other phones. But I'm wondering if Moto plays nice with LP?
Thanks in advanced to anyone that answers or reads.

I've been using Launcher Pro since the day I got the photon and haven't had any problems.
Launcher pro was the first thing I installed on my photon. Works great.
I have tried several launchers (Launcher Pro, Regina, Honeycomb, GoLauncher) on the Photon, and all seemed to work well. I currently have Launcher Pro installed (that is the launcher I commonly use), and have no problems.
+1 same here!

only flaw i've noticed is that when changing docks, they don't appear normally as they did on phones like EVOs. this is most likely due to the resolution change from WVGA to a qHD display. aside from that though, works beautiful, just gotta have the docks resized to appear proportionate.
Update I went ahead and downloaded it on the Photon 4G and its really nice but in a odd way i miss the the stock look... It could the the way im setting up shop again just like my last 2 phones so i may need to change icons up a bit...

Launcher Pro works fine, but I found an odd bug (I think). If you have the 'Home' button set to open the app drawer, it works in both portrait and landscape. But when you open the kickstand (select home launcher, not clock widget at the popup) and the phone is forced into landscape, the 'Home' button will no longer open at app drawer.
use it everyday i love it
Best launcher ive used so far, had it on my evo, epic and now on my photon =] u wont have any problems with this launcher

Last week I bought shell 3d but it keeps crashing. I've since gone back to Launcher Pro and plan on staying with it.
I had an issue where my docks were not refreshing so in the empty space thete was still colors from the previous apps being dragged across..

Anybody with Launcher Pro try it with the HD Station dock? When I put my Photon into the dock and bring up webtop, the photon screen locks up and doesn't turn into a touch pad.
I can't seem to get an app that shows the battery life in 1% increments while using LauncherPro. anyone have one to suggest?
Also, can't find a 3g on/off toggle to work either. suggestion?
other than that, i'm usually a stock guy (from epic), but i am using launcherpro now and love it...the universal inbox was the kicker for me....i didn't like the email box on the stock....on launcherpro things seems to be much more customizable!

Minimalistic text is what I've been using for the one percent battery. The only thing I've noticed with launcher pro is that when I use my kick stand my home screen does nothing. No popup no force landscape nothing. (May have missed something but kick stand box is checked in settings). Other than that it works great and I like it.

No, the kickstands trick doesn't seem to work with any alternate launcher. I use LP and created an activity shortcut I put on my dock that opens the nightstand mode.
Hi guys was wondering if there is this app out there that can do the following...
You know when you swipe left or right you go to different windows from the home screen. Is there an app or something that wil allow you to swipe up or down from the homescreen to go to the window to the left x2 or to the right x2. I'm basically trying to find a way to get to my other windows in just 1 swipe as opposed to 2. It might not be much but I would much prefer it that faster if possible.
Anyone know of anything that can do this for me?
I use the "pinch and pick" method. (At least that's what I call it.)
Or hit the Home button twice (or just once if you're already on the Home screen).
That's an interesting idea but I would assume it would have to be built into the launcher you're using. Like home screen replacement Apps have swipe up for this and down for that but I haven't seen them have an option for swipe up for page x.

Try an app called Wave Launcher. It's not exactly what you described as what you're looking for but may be another solution, it's a fantastic app! Here's a link for you:

Go launcher, set it to show previews on swipe up (you can even make it so it only does that when you swipe up on a specific dock icon, too!)

Will that all eat up my battery a lot if I'm running stock everything non-rooted?
I'm really enjoying being non-rooted because surprisingly everything just WORKs. Battery life is great as I can get an entire 12-13 hour day out of it before it goes red.
Also...why Go Launcher? When I use to have it on my old Evo 4g whenever I would press the "home button" it would close Go Launcher and go back to the stock launcher...also...I have to use their own Friend widget (people widget) if you use it right? Or has that changed? When I used Go Launcher before the People widget I use to use from Sense disappears.
I'm completely stock.... Just download Wave Launcher and try it, if you like it then excellent, if you don't then uninstall... It's a free app so you lose nothing trying it. Good luck!

Stock unrooted, too. GO Launcher (like any alternate home app) doesn't allow the use of Sense Widgets but they have an alternative to most of them and the widgets are themeable. Battery usage is no more than usual and if you REALLY wanna squeeze all the juice you can from a charge, check out Juice Defender. And why GO Launcher? It takes the best parts of all the paid launchers (ADW, Launcher Pro, etc), improves on them, adds in even more functionality, offers tons of themes or the ability to create your own, and it's free! I use GO SMS, GO Contacts and GO Dialer, too. The GO Weather is borked though lol dunno why

Haven't used an HTC device in a few years but picked up a DNA yesterday. One thing I was looking forward to was a chance to try the Sense car dock app which I've heard good things about. But I can't seem to find it anywhere. Am I overlooking something?

I am assuming you are talking about the app "Car". The icon is a steering wheel.

Right. But it's not on my DNA.
Wow that's weird I have it on mine.
Did you hide it via Menu>Hide Apps in the app drawer?
Once there you can uncheck it to un-hide it.
That is all I got, maybe someone else has an idea.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
Most likely, you need to plug it into a car dock to activate it. The dock will trigger the app if it's installed.
I actually prefer ultra care home. Much more customizable.
Not in my app drawer either. Can see it in the settings>apps but can't activate it there.

I was going to ask that too. I don't have car app in the app drawer. But I see it in settings>apps>all. Same thing with the dock mode app. I'd love to be able to use them.
On the Rezound, for example, they're not in the apps, but if you touch search capacitive button in the bottom right corner and type "car panel" or "dock mode" you'll see the app in the results, and just touch it to start. Same with "mirror" app. But on DNA that trick doesn't seem to work.
Sent from HTC Droid DNA
Ok, I just tried again. You can do a search by pressing and holding the home button. Enable searching phone in the settings. Then just type an app name. It works for car, mirror, voice recorder (these apps are not in the app drawer)
You can also create shortcuts for them, for example, in ES File Explorer.
I still can't open dock mode. Is anybody smarter than me? I sure would like to use it.

I'm currently using the Nova Launcher and all those apps show up, but if I go back to the default sense one they do not.
Can you open the dock mode?
Sent from HTC Droid DNA
I emailed HTC about that and they said "We do understand your concerns with the applications not showing on the app tray. HTC is currently looking into this to determine what is occurring but we have no estimated time for a resolution to be reached."
Or when we get root it's not hard to get those apps to show in app tray

Can you try the dock mode from your launcher? Does it open?
Yup, for some reason when using Apex, or Nova Launchers they are shown just like all other apps. Very odd if you ask me?
htc has always wanted those apps to be dock specific to try and get you to buy their OEM docks.
I can also confirm that using a non oem launcher like nova and apex will get the cardock to show along with a mirror app and movie app among others. Now we need a wireless charging card dock... Lol js
You can launch the apps manually through Titanium Backup.
I can confirm both dock apps work.
Any chance someone could post a screen shot of the car dock app on the DNA?

So you can actually start the dock mode? I have no problem starting the car app through the ES File Explorer, but the dock mode won't start. That's strange. Any idea?

Using the app QuickShortcutMaker, you can search for “car” and then create a shortcut on your home screen,
it will put a shortcut of car app that is hidden in app menu on the home screen.
Is there a way to edit what is shown on the app? Personally I don't want the Amazon mp3 crap on mine. I prefer Pandora or slacker.
