Does anyone know of an inline headphone adapter that has remote controls and I can plug my own earphones into? I'm talking about something like this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Headphone-Adaptor-Control-Shuffle/dp/B002J1SCRQ
I heard iphone adapters like above kinda works for Mortplayer and Mixzing (one click pause, two click skip forward but not volume etc.) Anyone tried these or a better solution? I don't want to use the stock ones nor cut and solder a female jack. Thanks
I have one of those, I use it with my old 2nd gen iPod touch when I run... To be honest I've never tried it with my phone but I can test it tonight if you want, just lemme know what app you'd like me to test with. Personally I'm partial to Headset Button Controller since you can pair it up with any music app or even Tasker for other tasks... I still use HTC's stock player most of the time (unless I'm playing Pandora or stuff from my Amazon cloud), the lock screen controls are the most seamlessly integrated imo.
I can almost guarantee the volume buttons won't work for any function tho. I also have a Philips adapter that they used to sell at Target, it's like 3 ft long with the single button, microphone and 3.5mm jack both at the end of the cable... Used to be like $10, haven't seen it in a while tho.
Rather than spend $10+ on a cable tho, I'd recommend just gettin a solid set of IEMs from someone like Meelectronics with the mic/button integrated and positioned at a proper height in the cable. I bought my M9P for like $20 with a discount and according to many on Head-Fi they rival some of the $50 IEMs... They definitely sound better than my old Senheisser CX300 (paid like $60 for those but that was years ago when there were next to no budget IEMs).
You know, unless you have a very specific need for the adapter or you already have a high end pair of headphones.
My 2c
I preorder these http://www.klipsch.com/image-S4A-headphones
I wonder how the Android version of the S4 will handle volume control in conjunction with their app... Could make it worth the price, generally they're nice but not quite worth $100 from what I've read (again, Head Fi's a great place for headphone comparison etc).
I have a Acoustic Research Bluetooth adaptor that turns any headphones/speakers into wireless Bluetooth headphone/speakers. It has controls on it for skipping tracks and volume. It works perfect and I love it!!

i got the klipsch promedias which are basically the same, and the control definitely works but both the music and the phone app try to handle the events. so double-clicking it skips to the next song and at the same time redials the last number. it works well for pause/resume though.

Pretty sure that is your rom you're using.. they haven't properly switched the remote to only work when in a call state or some such. Remote shouldn't do anything but control the music app unless the phone is ringing or you're already using it.

i agree, i should have mentioned my phone is completely stock with the latest firmware update.
Wait, so we can buy headphones which have the iPod like remotes on the cord right? Haven't been sure and didn't want to take the plunge yet.

Would you be able to test it with stock Sense music player? I'm wondering if it would make pause and skip next tracks.
My M9P's button didn't work with the stock player on the EVO 4G, which is why I started using Headset Button Controller (which solves the issue and allows me to keep using the stock player), I've yet to try it on the 3D tho. I'll try it tonight with the headphones and both the adapters I mentioned. It might surprise me, I noticed the 3D cuts volume to 50% automatically when you plug in headphones, that's something the 4G definitely didn't do!
Alright, sorry about that, I fell asleep last night prior to testing this. I tested the short 2-3" Belkin iPod adapter that was linked before, as well as the longer Philips adapter with a mic that I mentioned, and my own Meelectronics headphones with in-line mic/button. They all worked exactly the same despite the fact that the first one doesn't have a microphone, the electric signal they all send thru the third marking on the 3.5mm jack is the same after all.
On a stock EVO 3D, one press of the button on any of them will start the music player (with the phone locked or oherwise), and a second press will obviously pause it. A double click or press will dial your last dialed number, and pressing and holding will invoke voice search just like long pressing the search button. Pressing the button while the phone rings answers the call as expected and pressing it again hangs up. There's no triple press functionality and the volume buttons on the Belkin thing did nothing at all.
With Headset Button Controller installed you can change any of that behavior, and assign functions to triple press, amongst a lot of other things... And it integrates just fine with the stock player, so if you want more control over your button functions, it's probably worth the $2.60-ish. If anyone wants it tested with any other app just lemme know, tho HBC probably covers the expanded needs of most even if your particular player doesn't.
HBC also has support for what it calls left and right buttons but these definitely don't correspond with the volume buttons on a standard iPod adapter, not sure what headsets have 3 buttons which HBC might recognize... That Kplisch set mentioned before might be one.
I have the Klipsch S5i & only the play & pause works, double tap radials the last call & the volume buttons are unsupported.

Dont discount the Bluetooth stereo headsets,
Did anyone ever answer the OP's actual question? I need an adapter for my own headphones with a pause/play button that will work on an LG Optimus. I do NOT want a Bluetooth option and I do NOT want recommendations for headphones. I have a set of headphones that I love, but they don't have a pause/play button. I'm also not willing to cut and splice/solder. I don't need volume or skip track buttons. I just need to be able to quickly pause the audiobook I'm listening to without unlocking my phone.
All I can find is adapters for iphones and ipods, but I need one for my android phone.

Today I Receive my BCK Stereo universal Bluetooth Headset(From Hong Kong)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I Said i would post my review~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After letting the device charge for about two hour i decided to hook it up to my TP2 Finally. Btw it come with two headphone, a charger, charging cable, and the BCK.
First Looks: remind me of the ipod shuffle but made out of plastic. The button on the device aren't so sturdy, meaning that they don't click when press, when press you barely notice that ur even pressing a button its soft to the touch.(so far this the only bad thing that i found so far).
Connecting: The Touch Pro2 connect to the BCK without a problem. The BCK use it own volume control, giving you he ability to leave your device on vibrate and still hear your phone ring(When headphone are plug into BCK and headphone are in ear) once your system volume change the change can be heard threw the device(BCK).
Music:sound quality is very good, most of the song i listen to is over 150 kbps. volume really loud since the BCK uses it only volume control and not the touch pro2 system volume(for people that like to listen to music really loud knock your self out). You have the ability to use any headphone you like(3.5mm). A big plus for me is that you don't have to take your phone out of your pocket to change the song or up the volume all can be done wireless threw the BCK!(BTW the headphone they give you is crappy ^_^)
Call Quality: After a 30min converstation on the phone the person on the other line didnt notice any muffling, and had no problem hearing me. Hanging up/Picking up is a breeze even ignoring calls, in call the device use the incall volume and not its on. Incoming call notification the device light flashes blue/red like a cop car behind you indicating to pull over.^_^
Voice Command: and the instruction guide they said the device support voice tags which i dont use. so i wont be able to review this.
Battery life for phone/BCK: BCK stated that the device can last over 10hour of non stop talking 200 hour in idle music playback wasnt stated. I did notice that my touc pro2 was a little warm(guessing cause bluetooth was on and music) as of now i can't tell you if it effect the battery life have to do a full charge for that/normal day use. Confirm that playing music is the cause of the device getting warm, not BCK nore bluetooth.
Device Performance: Didn't notice any lags or hang, freeze up, etc.
Durability: As of now i dont know how the device would hold up against some knock/drop/being sat on/kick/dangle/abuse. Reason why i order two
Radio: i notice that you can't listen to the radio while using the BCK(Stalk FM radio) but i notice that SPB radio allow you to use internet connection to listen to the radio. which basically mean it don't interfere with the BCK.
Well I think that everything, this device can be bought from Ebay(Im sorry if you don't like to shop on ebay) Search (BCK 08 Slim A2DP Stereo universal Bluetooth Headset) new hope this review help you. If you felt like i left something other dont be scared to ask
Reason for this review: Im one of those people that don't like to tell people about something and once they get it it sucks, and on top of that i couldn't find the headphone that came with my device. But overall for something that cheap/ 3 bucks it would get a 8/10
Edit: uploaded pic/want to comfirm why the device get warm(TP2) plus added one more pic
Edit: (August 31) radio update
Nice review. I might have to pick one of these up. Having headphones hooked up to the TP2 with a dongle is cumbersome, but I like to have corded headphones at the gym (they have TVs on the cardio equipment, so I can just plug a set of headphones into the TV when I'm not listening to music on my phone). For $10 (shipped), its worth a try.
Ur Welcome. It last about 8 hour playing music.
Based on your review i just bought one, i will let you know how i think of this item!
Ordered one too!
Received this item last week, and so far I like it!
Bought it from ebay from "bestvaluesupplier". Shipping took just under 2 weeks. I knew shipping would take some time from reading his eBay feedback, so that was not bid deal. And the shipping time was really not bad, considering it was $7 shipping from Hong Kong to East Coast US.
As the OP touched upon, the housing of this device does not seem the sturdiest. Decently put together, but its just made of a light, cheap-feeling plastic. And the packed-in headphones are complete throw-aways, they sound tinny and horrible.
But listening to music through my own headphones sounds great, and calls seem good so far on both ends. Everything works great, and it was a breeze to pair with my Tilt2. Looks good, and very functional. Clips well to your shirt, pants, etc. Well worth the $10.
I also thought of another use for this device. If you usually hook your phone up to your car stereo with a 3.5mm cable (or even worse, a cassette adapter . . . like me!), you can use this as a wireless, poor man's Bluetooth adapter in your car!
Thanks again to BeEazy10 for the heads-up on this little device. Its always nice to get a cool, inexpensive toy to play with!
Received my BCK and am very pleased how well it functions for my intended need, simply small dongle to plug any 3.5mm headset for bluetooth cordless connection to Tilt2. For this use, it's perfect: easy to use, simple functions and terrific combination with Tilt2.
Pairing was instantaneous, HTC audio player directly sent audio through, BCK 08 has huge volume control available for any needs, and sounds very, very clean on $25 cans. Oh, and pause, next song, back song as well, button from BCK. Tilt2 screen blacks out and BCM continues playing. Range is very long, played two floors in house.
Tried with CorePlayer and got same results: direct audio play through only BT, no adjustings needed.
Haven't used for call-through function yet, but as stated all I wanted was cordless BT hookup to existing earpieces. BCK is so tiny, it's ideal.
One major flaw: stuffing the BCK unit into a case put undue pressure on it's built-in shirt clip (to position in-call mic) and broke off. The BCK is sleeker without the clip and a normal mic cord slider clip can replace function equally well.
I emailed seller to see about replacement, but be VERY gentle putting side or crossways stress on the clip portion.
Update: eBay seller immediately offered refund or replacement, and is sending one out.
Wow, ebay hates me. I had to do a guest checkout with my school email. I tried going into the password reset form for my real account and it was in German. I answered the questions after translating the page on Google and it was wrong. I hate Ebay.
Glad
glad to see everyone enjoying the BCK. I been using mines for about a month now it everything working perfectly. Just remember to always use the stock changer for you dont have overcharging problems.
Updated first post. For ppl who like to listen to the radio
The FM radio will not work with ANY Bluetooth device because it requires a corded headset to be plugged in to use as an antenna.
Nope. It has to be a physical connection to the device. The radio will not work over bluetooth, trust me. It won't even turn on if nothing is plugged into the USB port.
That's because SPB Radio is not really a radio, it is an internet streaming app. It does not use the FM hardware.
Haha. Yeah, Doo Doo is not understanding that something needs to be plugged into the USB port on the phone to act as the FM antenna.
But whether the FM radio app turns on when something is not plugged in, depends on the ROM. I have a Tilt2 with a custom ROM, and the FM radio app opens, but you don't get any radio stations without headphones or an adapter dongle plugged in (and speaker turned on).
But regardless of whether or not something is plugged into the USB port, it still won't play the FM radio to a Bluetooth headset.
And what evidence do you have of this? It says nothing on the SPB website about the program being able to use ANY radio hardware. In fact, it only mentions internet streaming. This means that unlike the hardware radio, it uses data, which could cost you plenty if you don't have a data plan. Please keep to what you know instead of passing along erroneous information.
I should be getting mine by the end of the week. I'll see how it is. I need a new skullcandy earbud set, since mine is wearing out.
Newegg. I got the Motorola ##9 in the ear for like 45.00 regularly 100.00. I also got one at Best Buy, it is made by Rocketfish for about 50.00. The Rocketfish is an on top of the ear, and I like it as well as the Motorola. These both have a hidden mic, and have great sound quality(I am not an audiophile)so that is my opinion. Motorola's are not as comfortable as the RF's, but they they are more concealed.
It makes it much easier to control your phone while you're excercising for example without the cord connected to it.
At the same time the module itself also has buttons to control music and access voice commands.
Another thing is that the module also has a mic built in to work with headphones that don't.
Another +1 on the Sony MW600!
BH-503 Designer's Bluetooth Stereo Handsfree Headset (13-Hour Talk/240-Hour Standby)
Works like a charm with my S2.
I picked up one of the Sony WM600 headsets this weekend. It was on sale at the local AT&T store and with my FAN discount and taxes, the price came to less than $42.
Today is the first full day of use, but I've been using it to stream music and podcasts and one 15 minute phone call all morning long. About 4 hours on it so far and the battery meter hasn't budged. Range is decent - I've wondered off about 20 feet with no loss of audio. Radio works better than I thought at pulling in relatively weak signals.
One complaint - the call/hangup button is positioned in such a way that when you grab it to release the clip (like you would to re-position it) you end up pressing the button.
One oddity - when you press the call/hangup button, it seems to sometimes loose it's connection to the music stream and can take a few on/off bluetooth toggles to get it to reconnect.
So far I really like it. The display is nice and passes on caller ID information. It's very small and from what I can tell so far, the battery life will be decent.
The mic/remote button on my Dell Streak headphones doesn't do anything with the Note . Does anyone have a set that works with it? And what does the mic/remote button do during calls (the Streak used to mute the microphone).
Tested these at the store and they seem to work well: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003OE30KQ (tested using mortplayer, the only player i use)
I use the Sony Ericsson Hi-Fi Bluetooth Stereo Headset with FM Radio. I'm not able to post links yet but I got it on Amazon.
I don't like regular bluetooth head sets that hang on your ear but its a pain for me when the headphones are attached to the phone. This is the best of both worlds for me. You clip it on your shirt, collar, or where ever and put the ear-buds in.
I got my husband the black one first then I got the white one for myself.
You can sync it with 3 different devices at a time. It's really great if you like to sleep and listen to music as your phone is in a safe spot.
They work well in calls and even better with music, I've paused from the button and answered a call or 2 already using the button.
They have very good bass and if you put the correct tips on and pump up your volume you can feel the bass INSIDE YOU HEAD! Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little, but I like em, even with their funky shape and $30 tag price I'd probably buy em again.
Oh and I'm only exaggerating a little, install an EQ app and change it to rock and rock out!
Well you can try using that Griffin Technology control. It should work I believe, and If you're using PowerAmp you can actually configure it to respond to the controls of a headset too (I believe the stock player can do the same.) You're other options I guess is to get some kind of Turner like an FM on that can wireless control the device wireless, or just get a mount for it.
Does anyone know which headphones (earbuds) are compatible with N6? I've tried a few different ones including apple, shure, htc and ifrog and none can control volume, answer/hang up call, or change tracks. All I've been able to do is start/stop music. Any suggestions for headphones that can perform those functions (confirmed, not speculation)?
Xiaomi pistons work fine. Be sure not to get the fake ones, you find reviews of the product on xda as well as head fi. Relatively cheap too, around $25
I can answer/end calls just fine with my PowerBeats and an old pair of Vmoda that are a few years old. Neither has volume keys so cant help you there.
Xiaomi pistons 2 are awesome for the price. The output has amazing sounds that are well worth more than they are priced at.
LG tone pro work great. voice dialing, answer/end calls, and volume work. Skip tracks and pause do not work
Majority of headphones with volume controls are MFI certified, meaning they will only work with apple devices. They're some, which by chance, happen to work with android devices; however, they are rare. I believe Bose makes some headphones for android with incorporate volume controls. unfortunately, most of the time you will find that android certified headphones only have single button option. Also, the higher quality ear/headphones almost never have mics or button controls.
