[Q] CM7 prebeta keyboard help - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have cm7 prebeta #4 on my atrix. The gingerbread keyboard it comes with it too small. I downloaded keyboard off the market, but for some reason I cannot switch the keyboard. There is no option to select it. Is there a way to change the keyboard?

Go into Setting/Language & Keyboard and select it from there or go into messaging and hold down onto a text field, click input method and choose it from there.

Are you switching on the swiftkey (or alternative) keyboard under settings --> Language & keyboard? Then, when you get ready to type in any field (you'll still see the default keyboard), do a long press with your finger until you see a pop up that says Input method. Select input method and then you get another pop up that allows you to select the keyboard of your choice. Select your alternative keyboard and it will then appear for you.
I was using TNT lite 2.2 - I just plugged in the usb transceiver and it worked. I had it from a splurge earlier and used it with presentations - if the dongle were smaller it would be very useful.

[Q] Gingerbread Keyboard.

How do I enable the GB Keyboard ? I downloaded one from the market it installs but I cant seem to figure out how to enable. I'm running virtous and have tried on stock and also on perfect storm and nothing. Am I doing something wrong ?
Menu>settings>Language & Keyboard and enable.
Then go to a place where you'd put text in (messaging app for example) and long press and select input method and select gingiekb
I tried that. I was thinking there was something more to it. Once I get to the menu I see GB Keyboard settings and Htc _ime mod settings and touch input settings I can change the settings but nothing actually happens

did you enable it?
That's what I'm asking where in there do i do that ? Sorry for being such a noob but I don't see it.
There should be a check mark to enable the keyboard in the settings.
Then go to a place where you'd put text in (messaging app for example) and long press and select input method and select gingerbread keyboard

how to switch keyboards on CM7?

exactly as the title says, i cant figure out how to switch to a different keyboard,
there's no option under the language and keyboard settings to actually select one of the other keyboard i have installed, any ideas??
I'm on cm7 also and only have one keyboard selection but I install swype beta and never looked back...do you want swype or the old sammy keyboard? Swype was pretty easy to install but I'm not sure about the old keyboard from froyo rom...idk if there is a work around to get it on cm7? You may be out off luck for that keyboard?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

Are you looking to actually just select a new keyboard or install a totally new one
If selecting make sure it checked in language and keyboard settings and long press in any text box, choose input method and select the desired keyboard. thats how I did it

[Q] Stock T9

Hi, im using MiniCM7pro, that rom is the best i think also T9 is the best way for messages, well can i add T9 in this rom or do anything? Thnx..
Hmm...T9 is predictive text (stands for 'Text On 9 Keys' which is a handy bit of trivia lol) and that's part of the standard SE soft keyboard that's inside the rom.
I can't remember the exact procedure but you need to go into the settings menu then into 'Language & Keyboard Settings'. In there will be an option to use the default input. That will give you the normal soft keyboard for the Mini instead of the one that gives you all the letters in one screen. The Mini's just too small for that..

[REQUEST] keyboard for cm

could you bring back the stock keyboard for cm 9. or at least bring the gesture input back. if both are not possible i would like to know a way to remove it and set swiftkey as my default keyboard. as it is i have to go to setting each time i reboot and select swiftkey as the default input.
