Hi Guys,
I have vibrant and use cm7 rom. I wanted to get your opinion on what you think about SGS2. Is it worth to spend the money and upgrade?
How is GPS? In vibrant we have lots of problems with GPS. Also how is battery life?
Thanks in advance
I'm having no issues with battery at all, im easily getting a day out of it and not needing to charge until the following day! it takes a couple of charges to settle and once tweaked a little battery life is wicked!
I think this phone is well worth it, easily best phone I've ever owned.

What did you have before this? Because I have Vibrant and wanted to know if it's worth it to pay the money and upgrade.
Android wise, took a chance on an orange san francisco which i drowned and its the one phone i really miss!
As the insurance couldnt replace it they gave me a wildfire in return! Awful awful phone....would have rooted and installed New Rom if I could!
Definitely a major upgrade compared to both handsets and certainly won't look back.
I have to admit tho if this phone went (.)(.) up I would probably go back to OSFrancisco to get by!
I had a Galaxy S Captivate before my brand new Galaxy 2. My only complaint about the Captivate was the battery life and freezing. Losing it was the best excuse I had to upgrade. My G2 battery life is awesome and launches on SPB Shell 3D and never freezes. The best Smartphone I ever had.
Great! Thanks for your response.
I realized that right now I don't have that much money to buy G2. Maybe a little later or Maybe G3

Hello.
I am about to buy the SGS2 and have a couple of questions before I go ahead with my purchase. Currently I have a HTC Desire, and need to know how much I need to change. Here we go:
1) Battery life: I know that it very much varies depending on the usage, but given on average how many hours/days do you actually get out of that battery. With Desire, I am getting 1.5days on medium/low usage.
2) USB: I have a few usb's that were bought for my Desire, and was wondering if I could use them with SGS2? I am specially concerned about the mini-usb ending and its shape. Could anyone confirm whether it looks similar to this or not:
http://www.universalgadgets.co.uk/images/products/Big11_e947682u6x5it.jpg
3) In terms of recoveries and etc, does such thing exist with SGS1/2? Can I use the ClockWorkMod recovery with this?
4) Is the panel full-true multi-touch? Not emulated, since I 'heard' that SGS1 was emulated, and you could only use two fingers in specific motion. This was not the case with HTC Desire, and definitely not the case with iPhone. (please don't bite me for using the 'i' word here ;P )
5) Also, any issues that you (personally) have had with SGS1/2?
I appreciate your help, since I am going to pay £500, thought I should ask my questions first.
Thank you,
Mo.
nothing against u but how can u compare skoda with latest mercedes? are u mad? if u have enough money to buy sgs2 why would u use outdated acesories?
and your questions can be answered...look futher this web site... HTC battery life sux btw...and its well known information...

Thanks! I had already done a google search, XDA search and youtube search, nothing that could be found (which was proven useful for me).
Don't get me wrong, I am not comparing HTC Desire with SGS2. That would be stupid. Hence why I am buying SGS2.
About accessories: The question is, why would I need to buy more accessories - If I can use the one that I already have?! Also, since when, USB2's can get outdated??!
Battery life: On HTC website, it says that it has up to 340hrs of standby time. That's a lie. Also, the battery is only 100mA less than SGS2 battery (yes I know dual core and etc etc). So, again, how many days you are 'actually' getting from this?
Thank you,
Mo.
But the question that remains is, how much battery do you actually get?

1) My battery life has been able to last me through a full day of use. It doesn't have amazing battery life but, it doesnt have terrible battery life. I usually go through around 15-18 hours of use on it. Texts, some games, internet browsing, and a lot of music use and I still haven't had the battery die on me before the day is over.
2) That USB cord should work fine with the SGS II
3) As of right now, there isn't a CWM recovery for the SGS II but, Samsung uses a program called Odin where you can flash different things.
4) As far as I know, the SGS II supports full multi-touch. I remember seeing a video of them testing it can't find the link tho :/
5) The only issue I have with it so far is once its fully charged a notification appears. It might not seem like a problem but, it has woken me up once or twice which is annoying.
Hope this helps.

mate u didnt do a research...if u did u will find out that SGS2 has far better battery performance then any HTC..thats mean heavy ussage - very heavy + gaming etc is around 12-16 hours - medium use is more then 24h and soft usage with 3g on and sync on + phone calls and some wifi is about 1,5-2 days..i hope thats enough ..about battery..
Super Amoled plus - latest technology display - full multi touch ..extremly well responsive - once again..latest technology!...
and if u wanna know more about battery performance there is already topic about it...but i believe u saw it..right?

I have just moved from the HD2 (on Gingerbread) so a close match for your Desire. I was getting battery down to an average of 60% after 24hrs SGS2 is about 70% on the same useage. My car charger works just the same . No clockwork yet, but most devs have only just managed to get their hands on one this week and there is already one rom available. Multi touch works. I loved my HD2 (still do) but this is better.
ok, cool. Thank you guys. Answered my questions
In terms of battery life, I put a lot of effort into tweaking the crap out of my Desire. Using VillianROM and an undervolted+underclocked cpu I tended to sit around 70% after a regular workday, which was probably twice what I had on stock.
My SGS2 is completely unmodified or rooted, running stock KE2. The same usage patterns yield me around 85% battery after a full workday, and under heavy web browsing the battery life difference seems even more pronounced.
Factoring in the fact that I'm experiencing the documented battery drain bug causing aroung 50% of my battery usage to be taken up by "Android OS" and "WiFi Sharing", I would expect this battery life to improve quite significantly beyond this point once this bug is fixed.
tl;dr Battery life is acceptable, and much better than Desire. Expect it to be extremely good once a few software bugs are fixed.
Q: I WAS told this phone won't work on t-mobile. Only at&t.
Any 1 running it on tm? Advice plz
Vibrant
I just rooted and installed safestrap. These two questions may contradict each other but: What bloatware can I safely remove without screwing anything up? and What is the best ROM for the Razr? I'm a slight noob but not a complete idiot if I am given extensive instructions. I guess I am what you would call a power user? I want it to run as fast as possible and the battery life to be as good as possible. Those are my top 2 priorities. I use my phone a lot and am not convinced that I need to switch to Maxx, pretty sure the battery life of my razr will get the job done with a little help.
Dude get the Maxx. If you use your phone as much as you say you do then you do need it. I got the Maxx and love it! You won't need to tweak the Maxx.
The Maxx's battery last all day and then some. I streamed 4 hours of Pandora, made a couple of hours worth of phone calls, surfed for about an hour, and customized the ADW launcher for 20 minutes. After being on battery for 19 hours I still had 50% left!
Don't give it another thought and get the Maxx. It is awesome! I have spent years living and traveling with extra batteries, chargers everywhere just trying to get one day of phone use and the Maxx has changed all that. motoblur is actually improved since my Dx and I like it.
Well I was up till 2am trying Roms and then back to stock.

This was good but still missing something for me.

This was great I really like this but hated the fact you had to toggle gsm to lte alot. Atleast I did, maybe I didnt read enough. Dont remember the last one I used.
Some just took out to much bloat for me as I used some. Would have to find the .apk I wanted for the program. So far I guess my option is to do a rooted stock Rom and take what I want out. Then tweak what I want. As far as battery life I dont know as I didnt have them long enough. Also Imon a Maxx and it was never a problem.

Here is a list of some of what people have removed and it was no problem.
Thank you guys
Really appreciate the help from everybody. I guess I am just lying to myself. I need to get the Maxx.

If you have the option for the MAXX you should definitely get it. It's easier to hold and the change in battery life is amazing, worth the extra 60$ or so.
60$ very hight
The best ROM is not universal The best rom is the one that best suits your needs. This kind of threads have always ended up badly.
My advise, go here, read the characteristics of each rom, choose and try. The one that fullfills your needs, that is the best rom (for you )
Cheers.
from past week my phone is discharging very quickly and I changed different roms but no use and my battery stats is proper and I think my battery life has gone .....and should I replace new battery ? if so which battery fits properly .....as I stay in India no vibrant here .......but i9000 is there.........
If calibrating doesn't work then your battery could be bad. Other than vibrant the i9000 and topic touch 4g batteries work with the vibrant. Try ebay or amazon for cheap batteries.
Have you read this nifty little thread right here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389069
Also, what rom are you running? I'm asking because if its anything JB, I wouldn't expect much in terms of battery life.
Also, what kind of usage does your phone get on a daily basis? Are you a light or a heavy user?
What kernel are you running? Which i/o scheduler and Governor are you running with?
OC? UV? The more info the better my friend ^^
There's all that too, much more helpful then my response. I just figured all the basics where tried already. I've had batteries mess up on me before. My original g1 battery got so bad that when I checked it, it was bloated.

Aha, both are helpful ^^ It's all pieces of the puzzle in my eyes lol
But if we can get a good idea of what the root of the problem is, we may be able to fix it without him having to buy a battery :]
I remember when I used to get 7 hours at best outta my phone, and I thought that was normal...but then I learned a few tricks, and
now I never get below an easy 24 hours on my phone, no matter what rom I am running. ^^
after calibrating it is working fine ..............thnx guys saved me from buying new battery
Hello!
I wanna know, what you - S3 users, think about this phone.
I wanna buy my GF new phone, which is gonna best 1st "smart phone" for her, and with S4 comming out, S3 prices are gonna drop.
So what is overall expierence with this phone?
Battery life?
Screen brightness?
Any problems?
Version differences? What should I look for, and which should I avoid? (For example, HTC One S comes with Snapdragon4, and also with Snapdragon 3)
P.S. Probably staying on stock rom

S3 is amazing. Battery is excellent, screen brightness is more than average. Brilliant phone. I would buy it! I have had mine for 4 months and I love it
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I dont really recommend you this phone Yes is has a good screen and quad core processor etc. , but it has the Sudden Death Syndrome which got fixed with an update , but the fix makes your phone freeze depending on the use , i use my phone for whatsapp and fun run and maybe dead trigger or Vice City and i get 1-2 freezes a day ... Thanks to samsung's kernels They are ... what to say xD The best xD? lol
I have this phone for more than a month, and I can say that it's a great phone! It's performance is fast (especially when you can find some tips online how to make it faster and to use different launchers,'cause Touchwiz is really boring)
If abotu battery life, on my phone it's quite poor, when I use it all day, on the evening usually I have around 30-40% left (but you can buy some extended batteries and you will see a difference)
GREAT PHONE....
if u root and install ROM
its like butter smooth and great batttery life
it was the best phone of 2012
Best phone I have ever owned.
And it keeps getting better with the custom rom updates
Probably, an quad core would be no use for girls..
Better buy an sexy phone with average features..
I would suggest you to go for galaxy s2.. Or HTC Mozart(windows = colourful and that phone is an eye candy)
Seriously, SUDDEN DEATH SYNDROME is no more bothering galaxy SIII
I love the S3, it's lightweight with a big screen, great battery life and it will run just about every app perfectly. 2D or 3D!
I know sounds crazy but Ive never been happy with the battery life in my Rezound...but now it seems that with every new android iteration that comes out it gets a little bit worse. I remember when I was unhappy with getting 2+ hours of screen on time and now Im wishing I could do that again. I definitely got better battery life on ICS...not really sure about gingerbread because Im not sure Ive ever ran it on this phone.
Anyone have an ideas on where I can find some? I know its a bit of an odd question but as of now Im looking for the best battery life I can possible get on 4g over anything else.

Try EclipticRez Revamped v9... It gave me the best battery life of any ROM on the Rezound. The main drawback is Google Now, it is not supported in ICS and there is a hacked version in the ROM, so you can't update or change it. If you don't use this your good, I just used Chrome and it's search function.
I never use google now anyway....
Well that was way too sensey, even de sensed, and it ran oddly on my phone...I just reloaded CM9..we will see how that does.
