No That's On Every Phone. Best Way To Describe It Is That's The Base Of The Rom Everything That We Flash Get Flashed On Top Of That Base.

Thx! Lot of stuff there, didn't know what to think of it haha
Sent from my DROID X2

Yeah You'll Never See A Rom Delete Or Add Anything To That Folder. That's The Base Of The Android OS, I'm Not 100% But I'm Assuming It's The Kernel. I've Looked And Its All The Information About Everything From Boot To Shutdown.

Any info on the kernel that could lead to knowing how to overclock? Probably just wishful thinkin huh?

Yes EXTREMELY Wishful Thinking. It's Easier If Motorola Hands Us The Key(s) To It.(Bootloader)

Quick question regarding ROMing and the eventual GB update

I am thinking about running the MIUI room that just recently came out on ROM manager, but I don't want to flash it if I cannot get back to stock and not receive the GB update when it comes.
Is there a reliable way to get back to stock yet? I have tried making a backup of my current state but every time that I do my X2 restarts...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes you can get back to 100% stock.. There is a flashable SBF that does it.

I don't think MIUI is available for the X2. Check the X2 development forums. The SBF thread in particular. The answer yo your questions are there.

I think the naming conventions of Droid's has caused a lot of confusion. Many things have been released for the Droid X and the Droid 2 at the same time, leading people to post about updates to the Droid X/2, which in fact is not the Droid X2.
I know MIUI is available, it is on ROM manager on my X2. And I found out about the imminent GB update on the X2 general forum.
So unless there are a lot more people than me "confused" by the names of Motorolas Phones, than I think it is probably true that GB will be here as a 2.3.4 build soon enough. I think that is why not much development has been done on this phone, why develop on Froyo when GB comes out so soon?

I haven't heard of any X2 owner using ROM Manager. A far as I can tell, to date, there are only derivatives of that chinese ROM floating around. I would research more before you flash whatever you see in ROM Manager. Unless you are skilled enough to un-brick your phone.
But hey... Let me know how that works out for you.

I will see what the DEV part of the forum says, but I will probably try to flash it tonight.
I will let you know how it goes.
Rom manager its probably seeing your phone as the atrix. You don't want to download a rom for the atrix, it will not work and you will be forced to sbf back to stock. There is currently only one rom fire the x2 and at least 3 others in the works.

Yeah I downloaded it from ROM manager and tried flashing it. It got about 2/3 of the way through the install and rebooted.
Had to go back to stock. A slightly annoying process, but i figured I may as well try and let the community know the results.

Pretty sure it just replaces the system partition back to stock and adds back any missing system apps then installs the pre-rooted GB update. Really shouldn't need to SBF to do that, SBF should be a fall back if you soft brick.

Recovery reboot option(Request)

I've always appreciated having the option of rebooting into recovery on the "phone options" when powering off. Typically if I have already used the dx2 bootstrap into recovery previously I can just power down when im plugged in and ill reboot into cwm...and my old dx and other phones I've seen have it typically. Pretty sure its doable.
So if anyones up for adding it to your list of things to do id be extatic.
Thx in advance.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
We don't have an official bsr. In order for the reboot recovery to work, i think the script calls for Koush's signature, or something like that, and our recovery doesn't have the proper sig. Not only is it a hacked up recovery, it's an ancient one. I don't see recovery ever being added, unfortunately.
Oh, btw, wrong forum.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Xodus is correct.
We were all excited for a while when koush got an x2 bout a month or two ago thinking we would finally get a "real" x2 recovery option. Its a little frustrating to see almost EVERY moto phone except for us have that option. And the only "real"x2 difference between our phone and others is our tegra2. I can't see that being the reason we can't get this option. It Has GOT to be doable if someone would just put the work/time into creating it.
Well, don't they have one for the Xoom? We need to see if we can port some of the Xoom hacks. The only difference REALLY are honeycomb and the screen size(right?).

For inquiring minds they're don't know, an unlocked bl allows you to flash cwm to become THE recovery; no bsr or hacked jobs needed.

Ya well even though we aren't unlocked...it would seem that some sort of autorun sequence for the two commands in the dx2 bootstrap could be programmed to run one after the other in the background at the push of a button on that menu. But it couldn't really be that simple -_-

Logic seems airtight. I mean, if you can push the button in System Recovery and it'll boot to charge mode or recovery mode then why can't the same commands used to perform that action be used as a reboot recovery option. I'm no dev. I would imagine if it was that easy, it would've been done by now.

Seems to me the charge mode is the weakest link in the chain. The normal boot sequence is dependent on encryption and system checks, the battery animation doesn't require so much security. It would make sense to me, after reading the cvpcs blog about 2nd init, they could use 2nd init to hijack normal boot, but that sounds like a total pain in the ass.

If i were savoy with making roms I'd be all over it, but hopefully just my train of thought may help someone with their endeavors in making their rom worth while. Nitro put our bootstrapper in his "eclipse parts" so I would imagine he might be interested in advancing farther.

Milestone x2 and Droid x2 sbf

Here's my dilemma, I just went out and bought myself a Motorola milestone x2 which I have through a local provider. I believe this phone is the same if not very similar to the Droid x2. My problem is the fact I got it with the android version 2.3.5 and can't root with any sort of one click root off my computer. The plan is to sbf back to android version 2.2 or 2.3.3 but am not sure if I can use the Droid x2 files contained on this site and don't wanna turn the phone into an expensive paperweight so any input would be great. I've search for earlier versions of the milestone x2 but only can find phones w a slide out keyboard n don't wanna chance it.

I would try to find specific files for that phone. There seem to be significant differences between the Milestone and the X2. I would check over at androidforums.com, they have a few milestone forums, but nothing for "milestone x2." Can't quite find that phone anywhere actually. I'm almost 100% that the x2 sbf file won't work properly if you flash it on that phone.
Thats odd..I had the choice between this and the htc merge...went with this because of the duel core, 1ghz processor and bigger screen..plus I had some problems with htc phones in the past. I wouldn't have figured this would be so difficult to root

Same specs as the droid x2 as same visual.

To the op: could you post a screen shot of your system version thru build # on the about phone screen in portrait mode(or post the equivalent)? It could be you could try update.zipping the latest 1.3.413 of 235 found here in the "cheesecake" thread. You would do it from stock recovery and if it let you do it it might be the safest venture. Not recommending it as yet though.

Well here was to wishful thinking. Thanks for checking.
The phone wont work if he tries to update SBF with the droid x2s.. He wont be able to call n such.... The baseband will change and so will his PRLs....
The update.zip SHOULDN'T work on your device due to needed apk checks... you could try to edit it and remove the kernel flashes... that would be your best bet.
Well I'm hopefully meeting up with someone tomorrow before work who has the same phone and provider whose rooted..will post back with what I can
Sent from my Milestone X2 using XDA App
kool kool man... keep the REFs and Mods seperate till they become tested fully. They should ALL work because none of the mods so far flash the kernel, but still be careful because(TO MY KNOWLEDGE) we don't have a SBF for that phone. And It would suck balls if your baseband n stuff got flashed over.
Just post in the OPs that its for the Milestone x2 and one of the guys will index it for you in the stickies. Also, PM me when you get it rooted, and flash another rom. I need to see if something changes if you dont mind.

Rom and kernel ?

Im looking for a Rom that is as similar to stock as possible with WiFi tethering available. I'm doing this for a friend and I don't know much about the droid x2. I am experienced with HTC phones though so I'm not a noob.

I tried that with stock Rom and it errors out saying the kernel doesn't support it. The phone is stock 2.3.4. I just downloaded CM7.2 for it and am going to install that to the device pretty soon. You can try that, but that is SO far left from stock ROM since there is no BLUR in it and all the apps are AOSP.
Also, HDMI doesn't work under CM7, so if you still want that, you won't have it. It's still a great ROM and it's pretty darned fast, but it does still have some issues with apps hanging once in awhile. Otherwise, it's not a bad ROM at all, especially since it was just released a few weeks ago.
I don't have much choice considering there aren't any roms that close to stock. I've had experience with CM7 roms so I know some of the issues that will rise with its use. I was trying to avoid using the 2.3.5 sbf and rerooting to use eclipse.
