1. things to keep in mind as you are exploring this forum
1. Read the stickies as they contain a lot of information.
2. Search for an answer before you make a new thread. A new thread is usually not the way to go to ask a question. If your question has to do something with a rom, post in the thread of that rom. Or, you can post your question in this handy sticky.
3. If you want to post something, by all means go right ahead, but make sure you are doing so in the right place.
4. Please do not ask for ETAs. Developers have lives of their own, so give them time.
5. This is NOT the way to go about these forums.
For more, take a look at this thread.

2. popular roms and kernels
syntax: [kernel base][baseband][labels][name][discussion thread if one exists][developer]
Roms are labeled as [OB] for old baseband and [NB] for new baseband.
Roms are labeled as [P] for performance, for battery life, [F] for feature-rich, and/or for simplicity.
Kernels are labeled as either [P] for performance or for battery life.
Roms are only to be used with kernels that have the same kernel base, although some roms and kernels with the same kernel base may not be compatible with each other (for example, not all .35 kernels work with ICS roms).

7. recoveries
Clockworkmod (uses edify): This is a very popular recovery and seems to be compatible with many zip files.
[P500] AmonRa (uses amend and edify): This is a very popular recovery, is compatible with many zip files, and seems to be more stable than CWM.
[P500] TeamWin Recovery Project (uses edify, not sure about amend): This is an increasingly popular recovery. From my experience, this can flash zips and make backups faster than CWM and AmonRA. Plus, there are a lot of customizations and uses a touch interface. The only downside is that the last time I tried to flash CM10 with this recovery, there was some kind of an error.
WARNING: Do not use Rom Manager to flash your recovery. The latest version of CWM does not seem to be compatible with our phone. There are flashable zips in the following links.

8. battery
tips from other users:

On a LG O1/P500 (and others, I think, that use the same msm7x27 CPU), frequencies under or equal to 480 MHz use same voltage and frequencies of 600 or more uses the same higher voltage. So, to save power is equal to set min freq to 245 or 480 Mhz (the last one has better responsiveness).

A battery tip : for our devices, overclocking is actually more benficial to our battery as it speeds up certain tasks. Our 600mhz is generally not enough. Try starting. With 652mhz first, if u are scared of your phone getting too heated up.

One tip: using minmax governor in my humble opinion is the best for our device as it has only two voltages. As what I have read that only voltages affect battery life, but not different frequencies in the same voltages, so using conservative or smartass give a hit to performance as it ramps to lower frequencies( say that 806mhz of you have, and smartass is normally using 600 to 710mhz), so there is a performance hit. Battery wise minmax have a very nice battery as well as the best performance. Recommended frequencies are min 480mhz, Max your choice.

I have tried some games with 24, 32, 48 using Lg stock 2.3.3. But none of them seem to have a great impact. I use still 24mb, i think its better in scrolling(smoother) the default set by LG.
There is no recommended value, but for heavy gamer 48 maybe, and non gamers 24 and casual gamers 32

It is the amount of memory an app can consume (for data allocation). If you set the limit at xM it dosent mean it uses x all thr time, it is just the maximum. Set the limit too low and some apps that require a bigger heap may be killed.

If I remember more things, I'll post

About combinations of kernel and Rom
For me would be:
To froyo: Kernel: franco.Kernel. V19.4-cfs & ROM: devoid. # froyo-final
Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049518
ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=887281
This combination is free of bugs, works great in every aspect (I'm even sure this is the perfect combination for froyo)
For GB: Kernel: franco.Kernel. V19.4-cfs & ROM: 7.1-RC1 CyanogenMod stable: 6.5.7
Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049518
ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946354
For now this would be the best in regards to stability and performance
Another kernel that is excellent for those who want longer battery life, would be the kernel of fserve
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227682
This is just my opinion

Misc Tip: Why use v6 supercharger? We have a lot of ram and it's actually good to have better multi-tasking, as that's android speciality. We shouldn't spoil by making android internal memory killer kill apps unnecessarily, like killing them after pressing the home button.
I know it's BullS**t...but meh.

DCONFIG GUIDE
Dconfig lets you tune this rom exactly how you like it. instead of hardcoding tweaks we expose all of our settings and let you choose. there is never a "one size fits all" when it comes to performance settings so why not let each user customize how it runs?
The default rom setting are contained in /system/etc/dc.conf these are updated to our liking which is usually a daily driver setting.
The first time you run dconfig it will load these settings into each screen. From here on after you save your settings are written to /data/data/com.damaged.DConfig/dc.conf and will stick with you every rom flash.
Most settings are only triggered after a full reboot, not waking from hibernate. You need init.d to be triggered, if your unsure adb reboot will always work
The most common settings people change I will explain here, there is also some text inside dconfig:
Storage control
Main Page (A2SD)-
This has your typical a2sd options, but has been beefed up for synergy rom. move your apps to sd, move dalvik to cache partition or sd. dalvik-cache can get very big on this device, so be careful moving it to /cache if your going to install many apps!
For a2sd to work, you _MUST_ have your sd partitioned with ext4 if you are on stock HTC kernel or ever plan to go back and have a2sd work. ext2/3 available as partition 2 in ziggy kernel. The layout should be as follows:
partition 1 - vfat (regular sd card partition)
partition 2 - ext4 for a2sd
partition 3 (optional) - swap partition
Click to collapse
Banned App support (storage control pg2)-
Make sure your sdcard is not mounted before opening this option. All APKS will be moved to /sdcard/SynergyROM/disabled/ and on each full flash will not be reinstalled. It will appear hung when file operations are going. Also there is no confirmation on unban, it just goes. Deal Ill fix it in a later revision.
Theres two options, Automatic & Manual. Automatic is what comes up by default. Choose an operation and It will select all the default apks used to do what you chose, click to remove anything you dont want t remove then press menu save to save.
For Manual Mode press menu, Choose option 1. Select APKs you never want to use. Press menu go to step 2 to confirm, then press menu and go to save.

Basic Settings:
Zipalign on boot: This will add a few seconds to each boot, but will run through your /system/app and /data/app for files that are not zipaligned and automatically do it. this is recommended to leave on, as not all market apps zipalign there stuff if it is written for older SDKs or whatever.
Lowmemkiller: we have many preset lowmemkiller values. This is very important to the end user experience as everyone has different needs here. People run sense with a bunch of widgets, lots of syncs, like having stuff open should set this to a low number to keep things running. People that want dead apps to die right away and are looking for fast performance for what they are doing should set to a high number.
High Mem/Lowmem * - The first 3 values in lowmemkiller are optimized for devices with large memory and vice versa.
The number you choose after the highmem/low mem configures the next 3 values for lowmemkiller. these are things like empty processes, services that arent being used, etc. So if you choose 250mb, you will always have around that showing for free memory, but its going to be very aggressive killing applications off. If you use sense and kill things too aggressively you may notice stuff like widgets dying. Our automatic renice script tries to deal with this by setting them to high priorities, but your mileage will vary. I usually leave mine around a 100/150, i have alot of syncs and stuff always running.
Dalvik Heap Size: this is the maximum amount of heap space a single application can have before garbage collection comes off and cleans stuff out. Some apps want more, and less GC == less cycles == better battery but the bigger you set this the less stuff can sit in memory before it gets killed off.

Advanced Settings:
Scheduler - basically controls how IO works. noop/cfq/deadline are the 3 choices, CFQ is default HTC setting. noop is first in first out and really basic, should be OK for device but id love to see benchmarks. you can read more on schedulers here & related pages - https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Noop_scheduler
ReadAhead - this setting is in KB, it should improve sequential reads from mmc. 1024/2048 is probably a sweetspot, but once again id like to see some benchmarks!

SYSTEM TOOLS & INFO
our services are hardcoded in our ramdisk. if you go to another kernel you will likely break these.
Dropbear - SSH shell
Inaydyn - DYNDNS hostname support
Arenice - Sets stuff like mms/phone/sense to highest "nice" priority. this should have lowmemkiller kill them off last.
Perfkill- Loads setcpu perfkill module by default. If you go to another kernel disable this.

Other fun
Open VPN/CIFS
OpenVPN and CIFS combined is sickkk. You can do things like vpn to your home and have a symlink on your sdcard to all your home files. forget dropbox this is encrypted
explained over here -
https://code.google.com/p/synergy-kingdom/wiki/ModulesAndServices
iwconfig
this lets you set wifi transmit power. download "wifi tx power" from market or run the following commands
adb shell iwconfig eth0 txpower X
X == txpower(in dBm). 32/25/18/11/4
to make sure it set run
adb shell iwconfig
and look at TX-Power (3rd row down)
Nano/Vim These are command line text editors, useful for editing stuff quickly. they look ugly in adb shell but over dropbear look pretty
Custom bash environment stuff
you can set custom bash environment stuff in /system/etc/profile if you _never_ us adb shell (or dont care about ugly colorcodes) and want to exclusively use dropbear you can turn colors on universally here.

TROUBLESHOOTING BATTERY
Dconfig Process Info - This is the first thing ill ask for troubleshooting battery. After you have flashed and gone through a full power charge/discharge cycle, before you reboot your phone click dconfig process info and paste it here. It must be from when you were running through for a long period of time to make any sense.
Powertop - From adb shell with your phone screen off run "powertop" This shows number of wakes per second so you can see if you have rogue processes chewing wakeups causing your phone not to sleep
logcat - adb logcat with screen off will show you if you have runaway apps doing stuff they shouldnt.
Battery Stats - android battery stats can sometimes get whacky especially if you wipe data often (battery stats are in /data/system/batterystats.bin) Calibrating your battery with android is always recommended-

Awesome work. Is there expected to be an RC coming our way at some point? Or likely nightlies for a while?
Also is there a built-in updater/any known bugs? Would like to flash this as a daily driver if it will be a simple process to flash an RC when it comes out.

[ROM][AOSP][2.3.7] OMN1GB (OMFGB ported to N1) [2011.11.20]

This is my personal port of OMFGB by T3hH4xx0r. Full credit goes to T3hH4xx0r team.
OMFGB (Oh My ****ing GingerBread) is an aftermarket firmware for many Android smartphones. It aims to improve upon standard AOSP (Android Open Source Project) firmware with various modifications such as "God Mode". OMFGB was developed by R2DoesInc, and it is maintained by him and the t3hh4xx0r team.

Being severely ADHD afflicted, I get bored with stuff easily. So here's my feeble attempt to keep myself occupied, by porting ROMs to our beloved N1, which is nearing senior citizen status as we speak. Also, I'm just too lazy to start my own custom ROM from scratch. Note that this is for my personal amusement, and I will only add stuff that I myself deem necessary, or I will most likely eventually just get bored again and move on to something else ...

FAQs & Issues
FAQs
Q: Does it include the latest Google apps?
A: Nope. You can either download it from http://goo-inside.me/gapps/ or use the one from the download link below.
Q: Does it have built-in Apps-to-EXT?
A: Nope. You can download and install my customized dt-a2sd script from the same download link. Not tested with S2E, so don't know if that will work.
Q: Can I use a custom kernel?
A: You bet your sweet patootie! The built-in kernel is stock CM (2.6.37.6). I have included a custom built-in kernel based on longterm stable version 2.6.35.14 of Linux kernel, and it is optimized for the best balance between performance and battery savings. But you are free to use any CM-based custom kernel. As for which custom kernel is best, they're all based from stock CM kernel, so pretty much the same.
Q: What's the "insert-name-of-stupid-benchmark-app-here" score?
A: Real benchmarks require extensive effort, and do not complete in a few minutes then give you a meaningless score. These so-called 3 minute benchmarks don't mean squat, and only serve as fodder for stoopid pissing contests.
Issues
God Mode
This is not an official compile, so the following either don't work, or aren't accessible at all ...
- Bulletin Board
- T3hh4xx0r Addons
- OMFGB Nightlies
- OMGB Builds
Lockscreen
Sense 3.0 lockscreen will initially have some screwed up shortcuts which will probably FC, so you will need to re-select your own 4 shortcuts, exit God Mode, and then test your new shortcuts by locking and unlocking.
Camera
Selecting Touch focus will result in FC, and only clearing Camera app data will fix it. So, for now, just don't touch the "Touch" okay? Fixed

- Theme chooser is included (pls read OP next time).
- Carrier label is visible in statusbar, but can be edited.
- Already several CM-based custom kernels available : IR, Wildmonk, Pershoot, Tiamat, Redstar. No point reinventing the wheel.

Well, IMHO, Oxygen is closer to stock and more stable, and OMFGB is more feature-rich. No promises, but I might just feel compelled to combine the best of both and come up with some kind of FrankenROM. But since ICS sources will (hopefully) be released soon, it would probably just be an exercise in futility ...

Futility has created some of the worlds greatest products
Would absolutely love for this to be a stable, usable rom. Used it for 3 days and it ruined my 32gb SD card. I love the center clock and different lock screens. Still has major battery drain issues and even worse wifi & 3G signal. Tried alot of kernels but they made it worse. So if someone with the time to implement the best from this rom into cm7 or oxy I would be extremely grateful.

Strange...no issues here. I've been using it with Knzo's kernel and it even cleared up the camera issues. Very good battery life as well.

Llama-Profiles:
Download Zip File: KLICK
Extract it and copy its content (the folder) to your EXTERNAL SD-Card.
Open up the Llama-App and press the "Menu-Button".
Select "Import/Export Data" and choose "IMPORT from SD-Card".
The profiles are now activated
Depending on your devices language, you MUST rename the home area name "zuhause" in EVERY rule to your own home areas name. E.g. if you are on English your home area should be called "Home". So open up ALL rules which include "zuhause" and change it to "Home". The second possibility is just to change your home areas name from "Home" (or however it is called) to "zuhause". The same must be done with those profiles which include "draussen" (which means "outside".
Now you have to select your home Area on the LEFT tab. Press and hold on "Home" and select the option to detect your home location (some minutes should be enough)
Last thing is to select you homw Wifi. Press the menu button and select settings (or options, dunno how its in English). Scroll down to experimental stuff, then choose check for Wifi Networks". Go back into Llama menu and select tab "Recent", search for you Wifi Network and press and hold it, now choose "Add to area" and select home.
IMPORTANT: Now go back into experimental stuff settings and DEACTIVATE the search for Wifi Networks option!
There are some "sync-Rules" in the Llama Profiles, they are experimental (background data sync on for 1 minute everx 20 minutes). Just deactivate or delete them if not needed (maybe they are causing partial wakelocks). But before you delete them, just have a look into them, so you'll see how complex this app can be customized!
Llama is now configured and active! Now you can add your own rules if you want.
Llama is VERY powerful! Have a look into its options and you'll find an option called "Llama Variables". They can be set to whatever you want. So there are very very complex rules possible! If configured the right way, Llama can also help saving battery a lot! Take you some time to learn how it works.

Some suggestions:
Download the following script and open it with SManager [Onboot] & [SU] (activates Power Management for WLAN0) ---> http://d-h.st/CmT
ThyrusHolo White Theme or ThyrusHolo Black Theme from Play Store.
Go to display and brightness settings, select auto brightness, customize and add 2 or 3 more steps (fill the values continuing)
Go to Settings ---> Developer Settings, scroll down and set ALL Animation Scale settings from its default "1" to "0,5" or "0". This will give you better performance in the UI!

nice... what can we expect from this kernel version? teasers please!!
I've been trying the alpha version and, despite the described bugs, seems stable after some hours of normal use.
I've also run a Stability test and no problems/freezes/reboot after 30 min.
Just make camera work and I'll consider this as daily driver... I've gone back to ICS bcause almost every version of JB available has the terrible "bluetooth no sound in calls" bug and the camera doesn't work or it's too crappy...
Good work ... glad to see there is people working in the kernel.
Cheers!
Now there is coming abeta for you guys! You will be very happy about its performance and hopefully battery consumption.
I hope for a working FullHD video recording, (overclocking and undervolting if possible) along with great performance from your usual builds

Nah, if I were able I would develop myself , and dreaming is important to one's health...
BTW what is the real problem with HQ video not working? Is it some driver from JB that is not loading under ICS kernel or the problem lies in camera app? And why isn't original motorola camera working under CM10 and other clones? If you have time explaining all that of course
There are some modules missing and Moto developed their modules very bad, so it's defficult to include them into a rom with another kernel. But let*s see how it's going...
New kexec version is online now!
When it freezes while booting, just wait until black screen appears and reboot manually!

INTRODUCTION:
__________________________________________________
Hello XDA.. Welcome to another project by me, the Custom Stock ROM 5.0 Edition- Codename: "Eternity". After a long period of waiting and as most of you have known me from my ICS ROM Thread, basically it's a simple looking Stock Rom with some new features and apps added to this ROM that the original firmware don't have and it feels a lot better and faster. Lots of bugs has been fixed, and I have made a lot of visual changes in 5.0 Edition. I feel that this is what Samsung should have done on our lovely device. I hope you will have a great time enjoying with this new release. If you enjoy my work, please spread the word around about this ROM.
*Before using this ROM, please read the whole post.
*This thread will be updated with new infos.
Things To Remember:
1. The best way to start is not by posting, it is by reading. Read, search, read, search. If you read an answer that looks helpful or answers a question you might have, bookmark it, and when you see someone else ask that question you will have the answer for them plus a supporting link.
2. Courtesy towards other Members: Treat new members the way you would like to have been treated when you were a new member. When dealing with any member, provide them with guidance, advice and instruction when you can and always with respect and courtesy. Never post in a demanding, argumentative, disrespectful or self-righteous manner.
3.When you post something here, many people will see it and possibly post a reply that might be perceived as funny but not extremely helpful, or trolling. This is mostly due to questions that have been asked and answered a thousand times, threads/posts being in the wrong forum/thread, or not providing enough info. This is usually meant as good-natured kidding, so please don't take it wrongly and snap off a reply that escalates the situation into something you might regret later.
4. Do not use abusive language: Example: "wtf", "f***ing", etc... Please do not use bold or bigger fonts. It is against all forum rules.
5. Post using a clear message: You're most likely to receive a helpful answer to your question if you use a message that describes your problem and explain in detail what your problem is and what you've tried to solve it.
6. Search before posting: Use the search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.
7. Press the
button: Don't just say thanks, press it.. It's free and easy.
8. Vote and Rate my thread: As it will help me keep this development alive.
*Flash this ROM at your own risk, do a backup first because you will lose all your datas.
*I am not responsible if your device breaks or turn into hardware failures.
*I will not answer if you have install any mods from other threads or roms/firmwares which will cause big issues and bugs on your device. Please refer to the original providing thread instead.
FAQs:
Q: Is this ROM 100% lockscreen lag free?
A: It is being reduced. You can still see 1 or 2 lags.
Q: How do I flash this ROM?
A: Please refer to the Installation Procedures.
Q: How is the battery life?
A: It can last a day of usage if you are not a gaming type of person.
Steps in preserving the battery:
1. You may want to uncheck some unused feature in Google Now settings. Example: Weather, Traffic. This cause heavy usage on battery life.
2. Uncheck Backup my Phone in Settings/Privacy.
3. Uncheck Automatic date and time in Settings/Date and time.
4. Uncheck WiFi notification in WiFi/Advance setting.
5. Set the Brightness Slider to a minimum and uncheck the Auto Brightness.
6. If you are using the Information Ticker and Weather Widgets, please set the refresh rate to 2 hours or more.
You may also want to practice the 2-3 discharge cycles to get good battery life.
7. Do not use Task Killer apps. Using these apps will waste even more battery life. Let android system do its ram killing.
8. If you using Juice Defender or Green Power apps, some users experience better battery life without these apps, so the best solution is to test them by yourself.
9. When exiting an app, do not simply press the home button. This will make the app not closing properly.
Thus, waste your battery life. Use the back button continuously until you reach the homescreen.
*Tips: The Best Way to Calibrate SGS2 Battery
ram3n said:
Guys,
Here is, I do think, an interesting topic about the famous eternal question :
"Please, tell me how to calibrate my f*** battery?!".
To begin with, here are some (fresh) news :
You have to know that our dear brand-new device uses new specific MAX17042 drivers which actually don't allow us to normally "calibrate" the battery as many of us could have imagined.
I quote Entropy512 :
Unlike HTC devices, battery calibration doesn't apply to our devices.
Google MAX17040 for more info - while our fuel gauge chip (MAX17042) does have advanced features that would require calibration if used, those features are not yet enabled and it basically behaves identically to a 17040. Maxim specifically designs their fuel gauge chips to not require special calibration procedures..
Click to collapse
I mean here that using such applications like Battery Calibration (or anything else), or manually delete Batterystats.bin in data/system folder, or even wipe batterystats in recovery, all theses methods are actually .... useless and a waste!
In fact, the only effect you will notice by doing (deleting) it, is that you'll reset your usage stats in the Android battery usage screen. Nothing else, sorry.
The only current way I've found up to now, is to force the internal chip to do it and therefore reset the fuel-gauge.
Here is a very simple method. Keep in mind that's not the only way :
BTW, no root needed here
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Fully Charge.
3. When getting 100% signal, unplug quickly.
4. Pull off the battery and put it anywhere.
5. Wait for 180 seconds exactly (be careful )
6. Meanwhile, take this opportunity to dust off the internal compartment.
7. Put back the battery on the right side.
8. Turn on the phone.
9. Pray the Battery god
10. ... and voilà !
After that, you can make some cycle of fully charge/discharge to ~15/20% TO complete the method
I am pleased to share my experience about it.
Hope it could help most of people,
Cheers

MY GUIDE TO BATTERY.
Its different for every user so its hard, you may use apps that i don't so its no good deleting them, after all there is no point having good battery if you can't and don't enjoy your phone because you daren't have a certain app on your phone because it might use battery.
Or your struggling to see the screen because you have turned brightness off and put filter apps on.
So lets get one thing straight, yes you can save more battery than "my way" but i refuse to gimp my phone or use monitoring apps to analyze every little thing.
I will not undervolt or underclock because i bought an S2 and want to use its performance, i don't want a Galaxy mini that looks like an S2!
Remember, if a phone is gimped to half its speed it will take twice as long to do a job!
Don't use task killer apps, they are no good!
Use common sense, don't touch system apps if you don't know what they are.
For an example i only have 92 system apps left out of about 145 on JB lite after deleting what i don't need, and you could do more than that but you need to be very careful!
1st timers freeze apps instead of deleting just incase you make a mistake!
First get link2sd https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...m.buak.Link2SD
or similar app and "debloat" remove useless/unused apps)
For me that would be things like all Samsung apps like samsung sync adapter, allshare, remote control apps, enterprise apps, software update apps, gmail, google+, gtalk etc..
I delete Touchwiz and samsung keyboard also because i use Launcher Pro and Swiftkey.
*Remember to install other launcher and keyboard before deleting stock ones:thumbup:*
This might be of some help, but be careful, don't delete if you don't know what it is!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=34465832
List of what apps are ok to remove and what it does http://bo.lt/i8igz
Look in running and cached apps to see what is always there and if you don't use it, lose it!
Another good app for clearing out rubbish and duplicates (amongst other things) that other apps miss is sdmaid, https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....thedarken.sdm
give your phone a good clean everyday or 2! £1.19p full version i think but well worth it!
Go to settings, turn off haptic feedback and turn vibration levels right down/off (if you don't use vibrate).
Turn brightness to a low comfortable level, for me thats about 20 %.
Turn auto brightness off (common sense tells me it must be analyzing ambient light levels every second the screen is on, therefore using resources!)
Go to settings - Location and uncheck all 3 boxes until needed.
Use dark wallpapers, the more black the better! http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1631228
Turn syncing of email and notifications in xda, facebook, twitter etc off and just do it manually.
Apps like facebook, google+ and twitter, do you really need them?
If you only go on there occasionally then delete the apps and bookmark the site!
If you have poor signal then go to the modem + RiL thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=31416701
and find a good modem but on JB most modems are incompatible so check that it works on JB with someone first, but if you are on ICS then go and do it.
Lastly Gemini, https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...droid.gmappmgr
all the apps you were checking that were running like Maps etc, things you don't want to delete can be set to not start up at boot.
Go to settings and tick "force expert mode" then go through all your apps and all that have autostarts will have a little orange "auto" symbol.
Press the desired app and you will see "configure autostarts".
When you press that you will see all the instances in which that particular app will start up.
Here's where you are on your own depending on what apps you have so this is where you will need common sense on what to turn off.
As a general rule, turn off "on boot completed" on all your user apps, (apps you have downloaded yourself) but again there might be an exception depending what apps you have.
Be careful with system apps but Maps are the main offender which you can turn off.
(Turn all OFF , apart from 3rd one down and the 2 at the bottom ON) like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=29420959
YOUTUBE is the only app i have come across that doesn't like not being able to autostart so leave that one alone.
OK, now you are set upintall BBS http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=15869886
You can now keep an eye on what apps or processes are draining your battery.
Open it up, press menu/options from top right corner and go to advanced and check the "root features" box.
If you are having something keep your phone awake for excessive amounts of time the make a dump and post it in BBS thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=15869886
Make sure it is at least 4 hours long and phone has been untouched in that period. Someone will help you find the causes and keep them to a minimum
That is basically everything i do, so as long as you use common sense you should be fine.
A big thankyou to Salesale for these excellent ROMs he keeps coming out with
Remember, your phone is for using and enjoying, not being treated like a fragile egg and being scared to use it in case it uses battery!
As long as it lasts from when you wake till you sleep or get home (10 ~16 hours) then that is all you need! charge it overnight and ready to go again when you wake:thumbup:
Better than hardly touching it and getting 24 - 30 hours and it running out halfway through the next day!

5+ hours screen on is easily achievable on every kernel

If you have any other better advice or solutions on battery life, please share it in here.
Q: Is there a brick bug or Exynos Exploit in this ROM?
A: No, there isn't any of these bugs present. So, it is safe to use.
Q: How do I solve unlock SIM card?
A: You can use Galaxy SIM unlock or you may try here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35096670&postcount=277
Q: My signal bar is not good. What can i do?
A: You may want to try flashing modems that works for you previously.
Q: My device is not waking up when I press the power or the home button key. What should I do?
A: Since I do not have this issue during my few test, try installing the ROM again. Or try to download the ROM again. Make sure you read the Installation Procedure below.
Q: I get the following error "Couldn't install on USB Storage or SD card" when trying to restore apps. What can i do?
A: Remove SD Card, install the misbehaving apps, then you reinsert SD card.
Q: AOSP Lockscreen crashes and reboot itself when I slide to unlock my device. What's happening?
A: There are conflicting apps you have installed that causes these bug. The issue with the AOSP lock screen is to do with popup notify apps using the accessability service to monitor apps.
Q: Can I apply themes into this ROM from other threads?
A: I have not tested it. You may lose some of the things in the ROM as the themes will overwrites the system/apps. Try it at your own risk. Always do a backup before attempting .
Q: Why are some of my apps FCs everytime I open them?
A: Some apps might not yet JB compatible.
Q: I want to dowload apps from Google Playstore i get a message that say's " Your phone is not compatible with this version" Any sugestions?
A: Try clearing cache/data for Play Store and Google Service Framework and Download Manager see if that helps.
Q: Is this ROM good for daily usage?
A: Yes, it is for daily usage, but as JB is in early development stage, bugs and errors is to be expected here and there. I will try my best to minimise these bugs and errors in the near future.
Q: Is this ROM multi-dpi? Can I change to 200 dpi?
A: I have not done this before. I may not be able to tell you. Try it at own risk. Always do a backup before attempting .
Q: Can I underclock/overclock and dual-boot with this kernel/ROM?
A: You can only underclock with this kernel. There is no dual boot feature yet.
Q: I experience over heating; that is I can feel the heat from the back of my device without doing anything. Why is this?
A: There are some apps which is running on background, trying to do updates and locations and it requires an amount of your 3G data.
Q: Which kernel is better?
A: Read below in the Warning Section.
*To monitor your Battery life, please use the Better Battery Stats App.
Info:
As some of you may or may not like it, this ROM has the carrier label on the statusbar.
I urge the users to stick with it as this is the only ROM with the carrier label on the statusbar trademark.
You will not find this on any other ROMs.
For Developers Only:
If you would like to use something from this ROM or one who has porting knowledge and would like to port this ROM to i777 or i9100P,
contact me in PM. Thanks.
Warning:
If you wish to install other kernels, you may try Philz kernel, Siyah Kernel(Beta) or Dorimanx kernel. Please download and run the GS2kernelwipe before installing these kernels.
You have to test it which works best for you.
For undervolting with Jeboo kernel v1.3, use an app like SetCPU or Voltage Control.
I advise you to undervolt 1 step at a time to test for stable result.
Some phones may not be able to undervolt and some can go -100mhv on each step.
If your device freezes or gets too hot due to too much undervolting, reboot to recovery. There is an option to reset the voltage.
**Please do not try to install any mods from other threads or roms/firmwares into this ROM as this will create big issues and bugs on yr device.
I will not reply to your posts if you have done these. You have been warned.
For this ROM:
If you want to make this ROM better and if you have any ideas, suggestions are always welcome. Please do not ask for themes.
I will take in request for icons if you can provide the links to the icons that you liked.
Mods, Add-Ons, Tweaks and Links:
I will maintain the Mods, Apps and Add-ons in this post and will continue to do research on other areas.
If you have made/ or found something interesting for all users, inform me via PM with a link. I want to read a bit before I test it/ include it.

ABOUT THE ROM:
__________________________________________________
Since version 1.0, the Custom Stock ROM has been based on the original Stock Samsung ROM builds. This makes a combination of performance and new features directly to your device as well as keeping it close to stock theme.
Some of the things that were tweaked with mods, scripts and apps in the previous versions are now included by default in this new ROM.
I would recommend to try this ROM. No obligations. Feel free to give your feedbacks about this ROM.
There will be more to come in the future versions, so for now, let's enjoy this release and hope to hear good things from you.

Hi Maanz,
Already said thanks in previous post when I used your Rom in 2 days, but just have to say THANKS again. I use this rom now over a week and battery life is very good, can go over a day with normal use, no FC's ,all is working like expected and very stable rom as you stated. This was done as my wife will be using it from now on(since I get my Note2 in a week) and I needed a "WAF"-rom (Wife Approval Factor)
This is by far the best rom I've used giving only the most needed extras and still have excellent stability, greatly appreciate your time and effort. You probably not gonna work on a Note 2 rom for me?
Gonna try the Revolution HD for note2(heard also stable)

Haha, funny thing, in my case I needed a "SAF"-rom (Sister Approval Factor). This one is in my opinion not wife/sister proof yet, I ended up putting maanz's other rom, Custom Stock Rom 2.1, which is ICS and super duper stable. If you hear any complains from the wife, go with that one for a bug free JB we just have to wait a little more

Hey Guys,
Just for info Maanz is working really hard on fixing a few minor visual bugs in the new version. I can say I have been testing it and its amazing for performance and battery life plus all the silly extra spaces and stuff in dialer after hangup which sammy should have fixed Maanz has done. It has been no easy task but Mannz is a perfectionist and will only release the new version when its 100% good so we can all enjoy it start getting very excited as this new version is awesome !

Ok, I have installed this for the wife and she's very pleased and I can vouch that the "phone once-always" bug is gone when rom upgraded.
@Ipmanwck..I did install the circle battery mod alone for wife and still no bug of the "once-always".
So far no bugs to report, all is running smooth for a day..didn't tinker yet where the other guys mention bugs, but normal email works fine, actually all is tested fine, except gps which I'm doing today.
Kudo's to the oke who made the video of installing rom in main page,is it you ipmanwck?..anyhow..I use that method with all my phones and is considered a norm for me,except I format internal sd everytime(really love a clean start, less errors to none found)..
Yet again,my wife is running brilliantly stock and me not,Oh I wish Maanz could do that for the N7105's..by the way is there a way I can have the lockscreen torch function on my note2,my wife is so stoked about the simplicity of how to enable torch with the home button(this must be built into samsung stock)

Known BugsSplash Screens will only work on TouchWiz
Working on finding out the cause of these issues. Please report bugs in either of the Team Kernelizers threads.
This is still in Beta, more is yet to come!!!!!!
Kernel InformationGeneral Installation Instructions (for both TW and AOSP):1. Download correct version of kernel for your device and rom. This is important as you may brick your phone is you use the wrong version.
2. Flash kernel using your preferred recovery
3. Do the following AFTER installing the kernel and BEFORE you reboot your phone:
a. Clear cache
b. Clear dalvik
c. Fix Permissions
4. Reboot your device.
TW Specific Kernel Instructions:
(can be used with AOSP too)There are some files on your TouchWiz phone that need to be renamed in order to maximize the battery life of your phone. There has been some debate on whether or not this is necessary, but for now we would recommend renaming these files to ensure that there is no chance of excessive battery drain.
Part 1:
These steps are only necessary on TouchWiz ROMs, however you can also do this on AOSP as well:
1. You must have ROOT. You will need to have a root enabled file explorer on your phone (ES File Explorer works very well and you can get it from the play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&hl=en). When you get it, open it up and go the the settings and scroll all the way down until you see the Root Settings. Go in there and enable ALL of the root settings.
2. After that is done, navigate to your root folders using the Folder Up icon at the top. Once you are in your root folders, navigate to /system/bin and locate the following files. You will need to rename them with a ".bak" at the end of the filename
gsiff_daemon --> gsiff_daemon.bak
mpdecision --> mpdecison.bak
qosmgr --> qosmgr.bak
smd --> smd.bak
smdexe --> smdexe.bak
Renaming these files will not harm your phone. Many users rename these files every time they flash a rom, and no damge is done.
Also, some ROMs come with these files renamed or deleted entirely, so if you don’t find a file, don’t be alarmed.
You have to do this every time you flash the ROM and/or Kernel.
If you feel uncomfortable doing this yourself, you can use the TK-MOD (see Downloads section) and it will handle this for you.
Part 2:
Stopping mpdecision from being called:
1. Open terminal emulator and type the following code:
su
2. When terminal emulator asks for root permission hit 'Grant' or 'Allow'.
3. At the # prompt type:
stop mpdecision
Using Rom Toolbox (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox) we will make a script that will stop mpdecision from being called at each boot so you don't need to use terminal emulator each time
1. Open Rom Toolbox and scroll down to the Scripter option
2. In the scripter, click the “+” button in the top right corner, then select 'Create'
3. Type a name for our new script, lets call it “stop mpdecision”
4. In the commands enter the following text:
#!/system/bin/sh
stop mpdecision
5. Hit the disk icon to save it
6. Select the script that you just created and a dialog box should pop up, select set at boot
Were done here
AOSP Specific Kernel Instructions:When coming from a 3.0 Kernel to a 3.4 Kernel there is a new method with kernel updates. Skipping these steps will cause phone instability, due to some bad data left behind. This is a flaw in the Android OS, not the application. You must follow the instructions below (Thanks ktoonzs for the new method of the ktweaker app)
1. Go to Settings on the phone
2. Go to app manager then all apps
3. Scroll down to ktweaker app n open it
4. Once open hit FORCE STOP and then hit CLEAR DATA
5. Reboot and flash your new update of ktoonzs kernel
6. Repeat steps 1-4 in the above “General Installation” section
You should be good to go after that

Here you will find all of our tweaks to the kernel. We are providing these pre-configured settings as a means to assist S4 users with further improving their overall experiences on this already beast of a phone or to simply use as a baseline to work upon tweaking further. Please Keep in mind that results will always vary per device regardless on the settings being used. Apply what works best for you and your phone. We're here to help eachother out and with more options comes better experiences for everyone running the KT-SGS4 kernel. Big thanks to ALL who have contributed!
Download links will include the specified profile(s) as well as an "Adjustments" file. The "Adjustments" file is just for easy view of all changes made to a profile compared to stock settings.
1. Download the file(s) to your phone. In case of .bin files, optionally rename the file(s) as .txt
2. Copy ONLY the profile(s) (DO NOT copy the "Adjustments" file) to /sdcard/KTweaker folder using a file Manager of your choice.
3. Open Ktweaker app and click on "Restore Prefs from sdcard".
4. The file you just copied should be listed there. Choose the one you want to apply.
5. After applying, make sure the "Set options on boot" setting on the main menu of KTweaker has a little green text bellow confirming that the settings will be applied upon reboot.
6. Profit!
Balanced Bull: Reloaded (updated: 11~15~13)
These settings are very special to me as they were my very first, dating back to the Galaxy S3, and has gained an incredible amount of feedback. It has become notable for it's fairly smooth interface and amazing battery life. If this stacks up to your standards then I encourage you to use it!

Nightmare To Remember
This will likely become your beautiful, never ending nightmare.. It offers a unique balance between battery and performance but unlike Balanced Bull, it is slightly more performance oriented due to the more aggressive scale up to max CPU. However, only 2 cores will be used for the majority of the time so you can still enjoy a nice buttery smooth interface with just enough juice to last you through the day.

Bless The Child v3 (updated: 10~25~13)
Based on Ktoonservateq and aimed towards battery. This is specifically for all the battery hungry users out there wanting to conserve as much power as possible. So don't expect the BEST but rather decent performance out of this one.
https://copy.com/CZdfHiaZEOAu
Feed The Machine
The exact opposite of Bless the Child. This is a performance oriented option for all hardcore users. If battery isn't a priority for you then this is a great option.
https://copy.com/xWpFNDtIsQHe
Day Of Reckoning
Very similar to Nightmare To Remember but is aimed slightly more towards battery without deteriorating much of the performance. It is based off the Pegasusq governor.

Dead By April v2.2 (updated: 11~15~13)
This profile attempts to bring some of the best battery life possible to your device. It is similar to Bless The Child but takes things a step further . It now focuses more on snappiness but still maintains it's well known battery conservation. It manages to maintain a smooth ui for your average daily use.

Project Icarus by @mamba720027
So some may wonder why the name "Icarus",why not Hyper Performance or Deadly Good Battery.
Well the reason and to begin explination, short history.
Icarus is a greek mythology who is seen today as a mythical pioneer that tried to conquer the skies.
I like that mythology cause it kinda corresponds to my own saying "fly high or fall hard" which means to aim high or fail trying. So their you have it folks and thus the profile name "Icarus".
And onto explination of each profiles.
The first is "Performance" which is catered for straight out performance with also good battery performance.
This one is for when u dont give a rats flying balls about battery really and just want everything super fast and smooth. But you maybe surprise of battery performance. I recommend everyone try this profile first. My current favorite
The second is "Conservative" this is for those seeking performance but also better battery performance than the first.
This one is the middle man or lady as u may want to refer to it. It gives the best of both worlds, performance and battery. So if the first leave you stranded then fear not, this is the one to turn too
The third is "Kamikaze" which means "god wind". It either knocks the daylight out of your Galaxy S4 due to its high undervolteing and mean intent on Battery Performance but still snappy.
This one the undervolting is of my personal voltage table that runs stable for me with other tweaks. If it runs successfully for anyone else then battery performance may be great.
This one is for those that likes the thrill of trying something new and unsure if it will work

Undisputed 3 (updated: 12~11~13)
This is a universal performance setup in which combines the essential elements of other profiles by providing equal battery life, speed, performance, and stability to bring the ultimate experience to your device.
https://copy.com/H0FUiELjgegB
ECLIPSE v2 (updated: 10~25~13)
This is a performance oriented option where great battery life is also expected to intervene. This not only will bring an incredibly stable, smooth, and snappy feel to your device but will also benefit towards longer lasting battery so you can love and enjoy your phone the way you were meant to.
https://copy.com/fgFWgW30IE38
Asking Alexandria
Another battery driven profile in which focuses on saving as much juice as possible while also maintaining stability and providing an extremely snappy feel to your phone. It is quite possibly one of the smoothest and snappiest battery saving profiles available.
Why Asking Alexandria?
It's named after yet another one of my top favorite metalcore bands and I chose this because Alexander The Great basically ruled the world at one point and "Alexandria" is the female equivalent to that name, which has become known to mean the "one who comes to save warriors".
"Asking" was an addition to the title name as an indication in the sense that we are all asking Alexandria what she can really do to our phone.

Project Daylight v2 by @mamba720027 (updated: 12~23~13)
Day Light is focused mainly on battery conservation. I felt that its useless if its not smooth and lags alot so I add performance into the mix createing a profile that offers both while its first and foremost goal "battery performance" is still preserved and not diminish. This profile is yet unique and on a different level from my early release of "Icarus"
The contents are 3 profiles unique in their own way, "Daylight", "Daybreak" and "Experimental" along with a "Extra" folder containing wallpapers I created on our S4 for fun while testing . Kind of gives me some inspiration and sense of feel of what my objective is.
Daybreak is a crossbread profile of my Icarus Performance profile and Daylight. Its simply utilizing the performance power behind Icarus Performance profile while useing Daylight profile governor settings as its core to boost battery performance
The experimental profile is heavily undervolted/Underclocked with tweaked scheduler and governor. I taught if some of you could run it stable then it may produce great or mix results

What Lies Beneath
This is an extreme battery performance setup in which essentially transforms your quad-core device into a dual core device.
Why "What Lies Beneath"?
You'll find that during light to moderate operations the cpu remains at lower frequencies for an extended period of time and will only jump to max when needed. Although it's clocked at a max of 1.3ghz it maintains a surprisingly smooth and snappy feel to your device at such low frequencies. This is where battery life is also expected to come in to play as well.

Ktoonsified v2 (updated: 12~23~13)
This profile was put together by none other than the BOSS himself, @ktoonsez! This is a performance oriented option in which also offers a great deal of battery life. Haven't tried these settings yet? then what are you waiting for!! Load em up and be prepared for one of the smoothest and snappiest experiences ever!

Sleeping Dragon by @mamba720027 (updated: 12~23~13)
Sleeping Dragon V2 Single Core
This is a single core profile aimed at consumeing the least battery for a time when you will be away from home or at work and away from the charger. It was a profile i played with at first as i did not expect it to mount as much with apps and system UI needing a right amount of performance from a CPU to meet todays tasks in performance. In the end i was able to tame the dragon and make it work as best as possible to achieve its goal
Sleeping Dragon V1 Quad-Core
This is the counter part of Sleeping Dragon V2 but with many tweaked parameters to make it a fully functional 4 Core base profile in hopes to achieve close or same battery performace as its single core entity. Unfortunately i still am not sure if it measures up but what i know from previous test with settings @Stock it hold its own in battery department. I am pleased with the results although i would wish to see some light usage results from users.I must give credits to Luigi for useing parts from his Balanced Bull Script, and Undisputed 3 Script and part from my Crimson Dragon Script. I am pleased to present users with this 4 Core or Quadcore profile

Hydra
Eclipse and Kamikaze clash with one another in this hybrid profile (BIG thanks to @mamba720027 for the amazing work done on Kamikaze!). This is perfect for those who favor one or both of these profiles. With the merging of some of the essential performance and battery elements of each profile as well as a few minor adjustments, this one also stands as it's own profile and it flies!.

Ghost Rider by @galaxys3man30
this setup can benchmark on 1890,1944 and 1998 and its been really good on battery even thou its a performance setup think im going to call it ghost rider cuz its a sleeper yea it shows good battery life but behind that is the raw performance that is on demand when needed.

*Stardust v2* by @mamba720027 (updated: 12~7~13)
This Profile I put together is based on the "AbyssplugV2" governor.
Everything is tweaked and the profile can run by itself or either use the "smooth operator V2" Script or Luigi's "Hydra" Script.
Both are found in Post#8 of the OP. The choice is yours.

Crimson Dragon by @mamba720027
This is a profile that i put together from a lost in the thread Dual Core profile "Lazy Dragon". What was suppose to be a V2 Update of it turned into a 4 Core profile and something totally new, Crimson Dragon. This profile is a variable of Performace and keeping things balance. Its very smooth on TW and produce great results on AOSP as well threw testing and feedback. Please enjoy this new addition :good:

Ooh very nice. I was waiting for this. I also used TKmod on my S3 and got some insane battery life. Thanks for coming over!
Is it still necessary to rename those files in TW for the s4? I was under the impression its no longer needed. Could be wrong. Let me know team KT if it should still be done.

No need to rename any. As far as I know on my S4 there is only smd and it doesn't cause any drain like it did for some on S3 so just skip the rename and restore section of those by selecting none on both.
Hey guys converting over to S4 from my old S3. Do I need to reflash TK mod after I update my Kernel? Anyone have any pimping settings so far? I notice people keep mentioning Ktoonz 7-7 version for TW has anyone tried his new 8/9 Kernel for TW someone said it's fixed?
