I think you might be in the wrong section. Do you have the I9000?
If you in fact DO have a vibrant, I wouldn't recommend flashing that. The only CM that I know of is the beta. Still buggy.
Just check out the development threads. All the roms you need right there.

Well i have a vibrant tmobile and im trying to get this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858724&highlight=jpm
If you dont recommend this rom can you point me out to a good 2.2.1 rom like cyanogen
As of now, there isn't quite a stable 2.2.1 out there. Give it a little time. Jellette is working on it and will probably have something out soon. Also 2.3 is still on the hot plate.
Check out team whiskeys Nero, or masters axura, or jellette's goodies.

hello everyone
i did not made any updates in the past couple of monthes
i have bionix 2.1, and would like to know what should i flash in order to have the most updated version around here.
i wont mind even experimenting with 2.3
thank you for your help
Xeno
Try using axura or bionix v. Two of the best roms imo.

I'm not sure what's best for you but I've really enjoyed Team Whiskeys roms. I'm currently using their latest (Bionix V 1.2.1) and it's a great one. Never tried any of the others so I can't compare.
I have tried Axura, Team whiskey, Eugenes373, (Mostly does kernels now) Jellettes, (Einharjar, M10, Loki etc) All are excellent, there are others, it all depends on what you want. Read a little more on each and then flash one use it for a day then do another, after 3 or 4 flashing you get a sense of what you like, what is important..etc......... then you can make a better decision
Thank you about all the replys.
My Q was should i install from where i stopped?
Last time i install a rom was many months ago. so should i install from where i left, or can i install the latest 2.2 rom or 2.3 if i like experimenting?
tnx again for the great help

I think you might have to disable voodoo first then flash since ur on a old Rom. If ur not running voodoo or any lagfix u can just flash over it.
axura 2.3.0 with adw launcher ex
Honestly most the dev will tell you to coding to stock first, this probably is the ideal way to switch from one rom to another.
But if you don't wanna do all that just make sure to disable voodoo if you have it running
Hope that is where your question was going
In his thread it says that its compatible with all SGS variants!

Since the OP didn't provide a link I went and found a direct one so you won't have to look for links. But if you want to access Darky's dev homepage/forum follow the link provided by Master and on the lower left hand column there is a link to his web page.

Yeah saw that too. Went in their IRC and asked but the ppl who were on told me it would only work with I9000 and the Captivate-i897.
I'm in the process of getting in touch with Darky to see which is true haha. If it does indeed support everything now, there will be a special installation method for Vibrants.
Go ahead and flash it...your problem not mine ;-),I flashed it and paid the price,it will not run on U.S. models....it will wipe your phone of everything,so be sure to back up everything on your pc as I did luckily.
It wont damage your phone or anything but make sure your near your comp unlike when I flashed it lol becuz it will wipe all....I had 3 other roms to flash back to on my phone but like I said,it litteraly wiped everything

hmm i pm'd him and he said to get the darky app
or something like that?
I was on their IRC this past day getting HOW to install his ROM.
Yes, it WILL work on a Vibrant but it will have a major BUG. The bug is the same as jellette/Heathen's Ragnarok 2.2.1 port that he tried a month ago. The phone will restart when it reaches a certain network strength value. I'm talking to jellete now to see if there is a fix for that but I don't think so as of RIGHT now.
If you wanna flash it though:
You need two things before you flash.
ENSURE you are on a 2.2 Froyo ROM (or 2.2.1 if you can get one). You will need the modem and kernel from the current ROM. Ensure the Kernel is i9000 based. This means you will need to use Morfic's DoW 1.4 or Ttabbal's Dragon 3.6.
Get the Darky's ROM App configurator from the market.
Get the Darky's 9.3 beta 1 ROM and copy it to your phone.
Using the app, uncheck flash kernel and modem. You do NOT want the flash to flash the i9000 kernel and modem that comes with the rom. You want your old ones.
Reboot into clockwork, flash the modified Darky ROM that DOES NOT include a kernel and modem.
Reboot.
NOTE: The Rom WILL WIPE your phone. You've been warned. Back up EVERYTHING and anything that may be of value to you and have ODIN ready in case anything goes wrong.
it seems too complicated, i'm a fan of darkyy's roms because a friend of mine has a I9000, and he had it running, and it was amazing, and no rom on Vibrant can compare to it. YET. The Devs here for the Vibrant are awesome, but darkyy's got more experience i guess, but his roms are just... faster, better looking for some reason.
I just PM'd Darkyy, and will reply on this thread if any response is made.
I suggested to him that he can chat with our Vibrant Devs as well and try to make it compatible with our device.

Hi there
I need to make this more userfriendly - yes, it works with any device (it's a bit basic for now)
For now, you guys just need to select "Skip Kernel" and "No-Modem" in the Darky App and then flash - btw, since v9.3 Beta 1, the automatical Wipe isn't there anymore
Will update the ROM soon
I'm off for 3 days now

There are really only two permanent fixes if you want 2.2.1.
1. EDTs 2.2.1 which is a hybrid at this point, incorporating the Vibrants stability with the 2.2.1 speed.
2. TWs Frost which is pure 2.2.1.
Neither of these are based on I9000 though, both are based on the V4g.

Hello all, I have some questions hopefully someone can help me with. First of all, I'd like to say I'm not a complete newb, or idiot. I have a inc2 which I have rooted and modified myself to my liking based on the stock ota Rom after trying many custom roms. I have a custom kernel set up, a daemon installed, I'm underclocked and undervolted per my settings and govs. I have read threw this forum a lot, I ordered this phone for my wife, should be here in the next few days, I'm excited as I will take it over for a few days playing with it. I have had a Samsung moment before also that I rooted, though long ago. My questions are, obviously, this bootloader is not locked, correct? On my HTC, I s offer and rooted, if I want to upgrade to the newest ota, I just wait for a dev to deox, zip align, and pre root it, then I flash that Rom in clockwork via zip file. On this phone, I should update first, before I root? If Verizon releases a ota, can I just update my phone as if I weren't rooted an retain root and everything, if not, how do I get it? You guys speak of a modem, is that the same as what HTC guys refer to as the radio, and does it need to be flashed seperately as I have to now, or is it included in Samsung roms? Is there any recovery, even the stock one, that can be used to flash and backup that isn't actually on the SD card and not the phone, in case somethin goes wrong with my card I will still be able to get into recovery? Is the fascinate officially on gingerbread? Can I just flash roms through recovery, or do most of them.require this odin thing? What is voodoo? I gather its something to do with a kernel, can it be used on a stock rooted 2.3 Rom "if there is such a thing"? I'm just a newb to this phone who can't wait to play with a new toy for a while, just unfamiliar with terminology and how things work on Samsung phones now. Should I just use some one click root method to obtain root then use the stock recovery (or custom if anyone knows one that can be installed to phone not SD) to flash files and kernels? If Verizon pushes a new ota after I do this will it try and screw me like on my inc 2? Thanks in advance for any help.

You don't actually have to root the phone. Just flash the rooted Rom of your choice through odin, and then use odin again to flash cwm (if you're using TW roms).
There's no official Gb for the fascinate as of yet, but there are a couple of Gb roms ported from the Mesmerize. Look them up in the forums. Never use the phone button in odin, always pda
By the time Verizon pushes an update somebody will already have it rooted, Su, deodexed, and ready for use. In any case, you can always go back to a completely stock version in less than 10min

I stayed up half the night last night pouring over these and other forums, I have decided I want something like your setup, I know what the PW thing in your signature is, as that's what I want, what are those other things? I guess I'm gonna put the vodoo kernel on there too. And o yeah, I can just take my completely stock phone, odin the PW Rom, and bam, I'm rooted? Do I need to install a gingerbread bootloader first? Thanks for answering these long posts..

You can just grab the Odin file for PWGB /w modem and flash that, then flash a CWM file in before starting up the phone so it takes....and you are done. I suggest you start off with a stock kernel(included in the odin file) before you move on to other kernels. It will help you see the differences between the kernels more clearly, which to me are marginal at best...for the time being anyway.

Don't worry about the boot loader, it'll be in the PWGB odin file.
TKSGB 9-27 is the kernel by comradesven
Adrenalineshot 9. 5 is the speed tweak
Honey comb 2. 02is the theme.
Everything you need is in the development section
I believe cwm is always in phone memory (not 100 per sure though)

Laurenop is spot on in his posts...everything you need is included in the pwgb.tar except cwm. Thats why I always recomend new fascinate users to start with this rom. it's easy to install with no hiccups. Prime example is a couple threads down, a new user is trying to flash miui...instead of being patient, learning, doing lots of reading, he starts getting flash happy. By the time I get back on to help him he has impatiently skipped thru provided directions and soft bricks his phone lol... then wants to be spoon fed everything because he is in panic mode since it's not even his phone. Im glad you have taken the time and read up, I have no doubt you will enjoy the fassy! Welcome aboard!!
Thanks guys, I believe that does it for me, the thing I was talking bout as far as cwm bein on SD card was because I read on this forum somewhere it was on there not the phones memory, that's why Rom manager asks you to verify it or somethin, thanks for bein patient with me, now time to get my feet wet, the more I learn the more I help also, I'm not just a leech, I love helping others so you guys time and efforts were not wasted. I haven't updated my my old faithful Vibrant in a while (then again, it's running amazingly fast and smooth and battery life is up in the 12+ hours range after average use) and was curious about Ice Cream Sandwhich. From what I've seen, it's fantastic, everyone loves it, yadda yadda yadda.
My Vibrant is running Froyo 2.2 with BionixNext Gen V2 ROM, Tigersblood Kernel and a KB5 Modem.
So my question: is there a way to flash to ICS without going back to stock 2.1 and doing so straight from the phone? Or do I need to go the whole Odin/laptop/USB cable route?
And any good recs for ROMs running on 2.2 in case I can't flash ICS? I'm a tad tired of Bionix.
Thanks all!
Download ics rom, download subzero or glitch kernel. Flash kernel, reboot recovery or use 3 buttons to get into recovery and flash ics.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk 2
You can do what Alex says.
Look at the link in my signature on a more detailed description of the process.
Just so you know, if you decide ICS isn't for you then you will have to go the Odin route back to non-ICS. Also there is a very real danger of getting the dreaded Encryption Error Bug (see top of my ICS guide for more details) .
As long as you didn't update to Froyo through Samsung Kies you should be OK. If you used Kies, revert to stock then cm7 then ICS.

Crap, I think I did upgrade using Kies, but it's been so long I forgot. Once I had Froyo, Bionix and Tigersblood running well I never flashed anything so it's been a while since I tinkered with the phone.
Thanks all, I'll look into the guides a bit more (been reading many of them and there are several different ways of doing this which is why I posted, I wanted to be absolutely sure before flashing).

Bro its cake:
Install CWM Recovery
Reboot into recovery.
Wipe data, then wipe cache
Install from ZIP.
Optionally install the Google Apps add-on.
Reboot.
You can optionally install a kernal like glitch but not necessary - I recommend Icy Glitch V14

Just so you know there may have been some very creative editing in the video. It doesn't cover everything and is a bit outdated also. I have read that people get stuck in some parts of it and also that some get through to full flash. Just take care.

Some will have to flash CM7 as an intermittent step between 2.2 and 4.0. It helps convert the /system partion to MTD correctly and smoothly. It isn't required but a good idea. (Note: flashing CM7 will not give you Gingerbread Bootloaders which are also no longer required but heavily recommended)
...and read up on the Encryption Unsuccessful error.

I don't think there was any creative editing lol. Djeddieone is a very trusted source actually. If someone messed up by watching his video then they didn't follow directions correctly or they upgraded through samsung kies and forgot to revert to stock first. There are a few comments on there saying it doesn't work but those guys did not realize this video is for Samsung vibrant only, that's their fault lol.
