Ok my final take on this boot animation. this is a high quality animation...
rotated the animation and didn't want to stretch it to fit. this is a big file.. 18 megs, this is like the youtube video here with just the lego trooper and monster...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZkMZLspd_Q
this is the last remake, will start on the other lego starwars one later this week..
this will go with the awesome starwars lockscreen...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_expXGJh_7M&NR=1
How does one install this?
Place it on your sdcard and use root explorer and copy it to /system/media/ be sure to tick the r/w button and reboot..
That Animation is way better looking lol
thanks it was a pain in the a$$..... i think i got it down now.....
i think i will try my hand at trying to theme... then i will do a lego star wars theme for ****s and giggles... LOL

You've really done a great job with this! Thank you for spending your time messing with it and yes the other video is pretty cool too.

Unfortunately I cannot get the boot animation to play... I've loaded the file in the media section and I did click R/W.. however the lego animation does not play.
does your rom support bootanimation.zip files? that could be the only possible reason.... that has happened to me numerous times.....
yes it does... is there a way to correct this?
only thing i can think of is to adb push it? what rom are you using?
Trigger 2.8
you are using root explorer and putting it in /system/media/ not media on your sdcard right... im using Trigger also....
I finally resolved the issue.. I had to click R/W to move to media.. Thanks..
dude tis awesome.. the only thing is my phone loads before he excretes the brick.. ::sad face::
runs perfect on first try! tks.
np i trimmed it down from over 2000 images to just 250 to keep it looking right.... thanks makes me happy someone likes it... the other one might be coming this week... lol

Darn! I'm trying to free up enough space. There was 0% free space at first but I deleted a bunch of useless apps like the Avatar and Sims3. I'm not 100% sure what ROM is on my phone. I'm really new to this and I bought it used from someone so I don't know what was done to the phone. But I did root it.
Hey all,
This is my second boot animation. It is, of course, based on Naruto! (because that show and manga is awesome). It is lighter than my simply a ninja boot animation. For now I just have a little animation but I will work on animating more things (hopefully).
INSTALL:
---I am not responsible if anything crazy happens to your phone---
Must be root. Should work with all custom roms (gingerbread&froyo)
Use Root Explorer
Push bootanimation.zip to /system/media (mount as r/w)
Reboot

Haha that is too clean! You should make an Itachi version :O
no, no better make a Sasuke version ;p
How about one of Neji? Or Gaara? That'll be bad ass!!

Or better yet, how about Hoshigaki Kisame?? Thanks.

+1 on the gaara, so this only works on gingbread based roms? Not on royal glacier?
I am on royalglacier and it works as well. And I will turn this thread into a naruto thread I suppose! Will do other characters when I get off work
Looks great. My only suggestion would be to throw some blue in there like the shippuuden logo has. Maybe the "4g" part of "mytouch 4g" could be a blue gradient and the rest red. Either way, nice boot.

Any updates? Would LOVE me a gaara boot screen
Decided to play a bit more in 3ds max...
And here is my second creation!
2 links for your convinience:
CWM(LOCKED BL VERSION):Dropbox
No CWM:Dropbox
Instructions:
CWM:
Download zip to sd card. Boot to CWM (More info here. Choose zip from sd card. ???. Profit.
NOCWM: Download zip to sd card. Rename file 'bootanimation.zip'. Using root explorer or something equivalent, copy the file from your sd card to /system/media/ directory. Don't forget to set permissions and make sure you have /system mounted as r/w or this won't work
Update 5/23: Optimized version is up. Did some research and found that even jpg works in the bootanimation, so I just converted everything to jpg. Lemme know how it works
I am not responsible for bricking your phone with this. It works perfectly on mine.
Works great and does.not slow boottime. It is very smooth with the amount of animation going on.

Like the boot animation, but it does jitter, especially when the sand is pouring out and then into the word Android. Sorry to say that, cos' I do like the animation.
All the people who say it's so smooth, please post an unedited video of this animation running as smooth as you say. Thanks!
Yea mine started jittering as well so I removed it nice work though

At what point is the animation stuttering? Its possible I can make a fix for it but it might take a day or two depending on where the issue is. If its partway through the animation i'll have to re-render. If its right in the beginning it might just be a simple text file fix. I can not reproduce the issue through 10 successive reboots of the phone
edit: after looking at it, its the size of the bootanimation. I'll try to optimize the animation a bit further to see if that helps. it does stutter a bit in a couple different parts.
edit 2: changing the palate on the files did not help, going to have to re-render it. expect a v2 in a couple days

it'll take some time, but i can probably do that.
I made more than one change to the v2 file, which is why it's taking longer than I originally anticipated. (if anyone knows max, they know that particles + mental ray + animated materials + depth of field = pure processor fail no matter what you do)
I'm looking forward to seeing v2. My 11yr old son saw v1 when my phone was booting up and shouted "Awesome!".

Nice, thanks! I have been looking to change up my boot animation. I've been rockin' the XDA one for a long time.
I'm using the blue one, seems a little small. Which resolution did u pick?

480x800 is what works for me
it's hard to get a good boot animation to work in a real fullscreen (1024x600) setting because it's just too hard to display that many images (it's just pictures) and boot up at the same time. That's why I've started sticking with the cyanogen versions.
I would dig on nice looking boot up screens that were not designed to be viewed on smaller displays (ie, no hard edges, just black edges to the images)
That one looks very nice though.

This guy (actually the logcat version) seems to speed up boot by a few seconds, and is uber-nerdy

Here's the boot animation that I use. I extracted it from the flashable Dark Horse theme in the Hero C forums (thanks to Kfunk & Mod Nation for actually making it usable) and resized it to 1024X600 and added a few additional frames for a smoother look if anyone wants to try it. I've been to lazy to make it a flashable, so drop it in /system/media and rename it from honeyblue.zip to bootanimation.zip.
***Edited*** Added Honeyred to the post

LOL....So basically, I took a boot animation that was used on a tablet, then resized for a cell phone & packed into a theme, extracted it edited in a couple of additional still frames and resized it back to it's original tablet form.....Good grief. At least I know how to do it. I've been working on my own for a couple of days now

Nice!!! Guess I won't bother posting the red version I did of the same boot animation then. On a seperate, and only partially related topic....Anyone want to share any boot sound ideas? I've been using Brass Bonanza for a while and want something different....just not sure what.

Sweet...loking forward to it. Much appreciated.
It's been ported already in the Atrix forums. Fits our screen perfectly! I take no credit. Just pointing you to it....

I had this on my EVO at one time. So your good?

lags a bit on E3D. How can I speed it up?
Have to open it and change the desc.txt looks something like
540 960 20
p 1 0 part0 (something like this)
( that 20 or whatever its at ) controls the speed you can change it by 5's so up by 5 is faster, down by 5 is slower
brought to you by the little voices in my head
schwartz did you get it to the right speed
I was able to change the speed, but couldn't fix the lag. It was 200p and when changing the speed it skipped part 0 and went to part 1. I tried a whole bunch of numbers from 20p - 300p
No worries. Its not that important to me. I was just trying to get an idea of how these things are compiled.
I cant even get this thing to run on my 3d. How did you install it?

Use root explorer or adb to put it in either system/customize/resource (named Sprint_bootanimation) or data/local (named bootanimation )
now the voices are in 3d
Ok got it working. Thanks for the tip. Wish it would run a little smoother though.
anyway to make it smoother?

Anyone know if there are any write ups on how to incorporate your a custom animation? And does this overwrite the animation of installed roms?

Wasn't able to get this working in either directory. Permissions were changed and I've had other boot animations working. Running Synergy ROM. No big deal, but wanted to give a heads up.
Edit: NEVERMIND! Got it working. Something was messed up with the .ZIP you posted. Here's the I modified that works for me.
I used this on my NS4G and it ran smooth, here is the link for that thread and the download. Maybe this one will help. this ran horizontal with the phone in a vertical position, not like the other that was horizontal on a horizontal phone
