[Q] Reception issues after flashing ROMS - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys,
Long time lurker, first time poster.
I currently have a Samsung Galaxy S II which was shipped with VAUKF4 modem. The reception of the phone is fine but when I try to flash a custom rom reception goes out the window.
Even trying to flash non carrier branded kf4 firmware and custom roms such as villain and SensatioN the problems are still the same.
So I was wondering if:
1. I could extract the modem file of the VAUKF4 firmware and flash it with SensatioN rom
Or
2. Do something else to fix this problem
Thanks

[HELP] Flashing failed when installing i9100 ROM on SGSII SHW-M250S

I tried to flash I9100 ROM on my SHW-M250S using ROM provided here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278, however ODIN always failed when trying complete writing factoryfs.
Please anyone who has experience in flashing I9100 ROM on a SHW-M250S give me a hand here? Or if you have a stock ROM of the SHW-M250S please can you give a copy?
Thank you all so much.
Nvm, successfully flashed using samfirmware ROM.
If you need to flash the stock firmware again, torrents of the stock and latest firmware and kernels are attached.

[Q] sg2 - can I backup/extract the modem firmware from a stock phone?

I have a galaxy 2 with lite'ning rom 6.1 right now, thing is working like a charm with exception of reception. Ever since I unlocked the phone, my reception is horrible. I have tried Villain ROM but same issue.
I do see forum posts about updating modem but cant seem to find a suitable one.
My friend recently picked up a sg2, he has not unlocked it yet. When put side by side, he has full bars, when I have 2.
My question is, how could I back up or extract his modem drivers so I could flash them to my phone?
Thank you.
Just find out what modem he is using. About phone >> Baseband.
Then search for that modem
here you have a bunch:

latest modem for telstra network.

since moving from 2.3.3 to to 2.3.5 ive had stability issues and signal drop outs.
ive kept the kf2 modem during the change over and suspect that i may need to upgrade the modem to the latest version compatible for telstra and i will also move to 2.3.6 (stock) soon.
what is the latest modem version that works nicely with telstra's 3g network in AU.
Both Voda and Telstra sell the I9100T which uses a different modem to the international model. Last I heard, the latest modem was released by Voda - I9100TDUKJ1.
But you might want to check / ask on the Aussie forum below.

There is also a modem thread which has all the worldwide T model modems.
Edit: modem thread. Check post 3

Is the file above able to be flashed via odin or is it for a rooted phone with clockworkmod?
At this stage my phone isnt rooted.
CW. If you want to flash it with Odin, extract the modem.bin file & put that in the "phone" section of Odin & away you go.

so .bin will work fine in the phone section of odin.
shouldnt it be in the tar.md5 format?

Issue with network signal/modem

Hello!
Probably it's not the perfect thread to post in, but i've got an Ace with signal problems. I'm on 3 UK network, and so far i know, there's only 2.2 branded firmware issued for this device. I have that in md5 format, which i can flash through odin, however that is a [email protected] Is there any way to flash the csc from that to any gingerbread version? as it is in .rfs format, and odin does not really like it. Is it affecting in any way my phone if i flash that to a gingerbread format, or ICS if i can? If so, could you tell me how to do it? Or how to solve my network signal issue? So far itried it with CM7, CM9, but it was still bad. I mean i did not have any signal, however in my I9100 there's almost full coverage in the same place, and i'm not using stock rom on that one. I just flashed the modem from the carrier branded firmware, but to flash on that device is much more easier, as there is many source for the modem file in the correct format.
So to make it clear, i need someone to help me to solve network issue (3 UK) in any way like flashing somehow the modem from old 2.2 (if that's possible), or if someone can point me a firmware with working "radio"/modem. Thanks in advance!

GT-I9100T Firmware Request

Hi guys, i want a firmware or custom rom for galaxy gt-i9100t, if there is any rom after 4.1.2 ! , also i have a question: the normal rom for g-ti9100 could be installed on gt-i9100t !!?
There isn't any stock firmware >4.1.2. Yes, you can flash I9100 stock roms on the I9100T, but you may have to use a modem from an I9100T rom if you're using the phone on a network belonging to a carrier who sold the I9100T.
okay 10x for help, i'm so greatfull
What about a i9100 custom rom?! Can i use it to i9100t !?

Yes, of course. the I9100 & I9100T (I also have an I9100T) are exactly the same except for a very slight difference in radio output, achieved by firmware - the modem.
If you flash an I9100 stock rom, it will include an I9100 modem which might (not always though) mess with your connectivity, and as I hinted at in my PP, in my experience, using modems which have been bundled with stock roms released by carriers which sold the I9100T tends to result in the best connectivity. You can check these by searching the I9100T firmwares on Samfirmware, which lists the baseband (modem), and you can then find/download whatever modem in question here.
However, if after flashing an I9100 stock rom your connectivity is OK, no need to change the modem. Only change the modem if your connectivity isn't great. Custom roms don't include modems, so flashing a custom rom won't change your current modem.
i got it, thank you very much for your help and your notes about the modem thing :good: .
